Google
I’m a HUGE fan of their Curry Ramen. If you love Curry and you love Ramen, you’ve got to try this combination, it is to live for! They have other ramen options of course, but I can’t find this Curry Ramen anywhere else. I was so impressed. The owners and staff are all so sweet and kind too. You can dine-in or take it to go - it’s always worth it! **pictured is the curry ramen & I added chashu**

Google
RIP ramen shack... I already grieved when the Gardena location closed years ago and now my fav spot for a warm bowl of hearty soup is gone 😭 confirmed by the cleaners next door that ramen shack is gone and will reopen as Mexican restaurant

Google
I come once every week or two and I always enjoy the food and service. I've shown many friends the restaurant and they've all become return customers. Known for their ramen, but their other dishes are just as good. Even if you order takeaway it's packaged well and the staff is always considerate and helpful.

Google
This place was fantastic! It's a hole in the wall and we actually drove past it while looking for it. The place is authentic. Everyone is Japanese and very friendly. It's got a nice homey feel. The food isn't over flavored like the fake-o places. It was delicious. The broth is a little on the heavy side bHomosassa drank all of mine. My kids all insisted on the desserts which we also liked very much. This restaurant is a little hidden gem.

Google
Pleasantly surprised by this hole in the wall noodle spot. Found it by sheer coincidence as my wife was craving noodles on our way home from the beach. The noodles are similar to Hakata ramen and the broth and pork flavor is just right, not over powering the spice. Loved it! Highly recommend it.

L Greer

Google
So good. Food came fast. Friendly server. Everything tasted fresh. The pork cuts in my ramen bowl were delicious like no pork I've ever had before. I had the coconut ramen with Level 1 spiciness and that was perfect for me. Also had a delicious ahi poke bowl. Absolutely nothing to complain about, I finished everything. I never write reviews but I felt compelled by this great meal.

Google
Decided to try this place based on a Google search and the reviews the day after Beachlife Festival and we were not disappointed! The chashu buns were on point and the ramen was probably the best ramen I’ve had in recent years! The service was outstanding; very attentive and they were on top of it. We were out of tea: refilled in a minute. Food came out fast too. I had the tonkotsu ramen, spicy level 3, adding a seasoned egg. It’s a tiny little place attached to the cleaners by a Smart and Final. I highly recommend: Find it!

Ricardo

Google
FINALLY!!! I found the best ramen restaurant in South Bay. Foods came out in 5 min, taste was awesome. I felt I was in Japan. Highly recommend here!

Bobby C.

Yelp
This place is permanently closed. Always been the go to place for me and my son on wkds. Very sad that they are onto a new endeavor.

Amanda N.

Yelp
This place was delicious! We were recommended by a friend who lives in the area to check this place out for great Ramen. If it wasn't for their recommendation we probably wouldn't stumble on this place because the location is kind of hidden. Service was great. The nice Japanese gentleman was friendly and attentive. The place is a bit small so it's not for large groups but the flavor and taste was delicious!! Would definitely come back!

Brian H.

Yelp
This was one of our favorite spots. The Ramen Shack Special was my favorite. I'm bummed to see it has closed permanently.

Daniel L.

Yelp
This ramen shop, housed in a cute little shack next to the cleaners, offers solid value for its dishes, but a few details fell short of expectations. I ordered the spicy tonkotsu ramen and their 14 oz tsukemen, both of which were decent, though the tsukemen broth was rather cold, and the dried up lemon slice they provided felt like an afterthought. While the restaurant is very popular among locals and visitors alike, there was still a slight unpleasant smell inside, which detracted from the overall ambiance. That said, the server was incredibly quick and friendly. For the price, the value of the food makes it worth a visit. However, it is not a spot I would recommend for its aesthetic or atmosphere.

Erica T.

Yelp
I can't believe I have to grieve my favorite ramen restaurant again... my friends and I were so sad the Gardena location closed down many years ago. I was happy to at least have this location even if it was further away. I'm so sad to see this gem gone again. There's no posted sign of it being permanently closed, looked like there were renovations inside. I spoke to the ladies at the cleaners next door and they confirmed ramen shack's closure and will reopen as a Mexican restaurant. I will miss their ramen so much.... RIP ramen shack.

David Z.

Yelp
Just received absolutely soul crushing news that ramen shack was permanently closing. Best bowl of ramen I have ever had and will ever have. Never a bad day at ramen shack. I pray the staff and owners find success in their next endeavor. Will always be my favorite restaurant of all time!

Terri E.

Yelp
Stumbled upon this Yelp page and decided to try it out. My in-laws live in Palos Verdes so this wasn't too far from them. It was for my daughter who love ramen so it had to be a ramen spot. So happy we found this hidden gem. It had high ratings and reviews so we were there. We got there when they opened at 5:30pm. Keep your eyes open for this place because you just might miss it. It's located right next to a dry cleaning spot called Southwest Cleaners. Don't let this little place fool you, it may be small and not super fancy but the food is quite good. We came here specifically for the Tsukemen aka Dipping Ramen Noodles. OMG. The only place in LA I've found AMAZING Tsukemen is in Sawtelle at the one and only, Tsujita LA!!! There is always a line there. So when I saw this item on the menu and it was close to my in-laws, we were there! Our server was Yoshi and he is just the cutest. He was very sweet and took wonderful care of us. We sat inside at first but then ended up outside because we were a group of 5 and it felt tight inside. Plus it was gorgeous LA weather outside. We ordered Tsukemen with pork chasu, gyoza, chicken karaage, and vegetable spring rolls. The Tsukemen and chicken karaage are GOLD!!! Highly recommended. The chicken karaage was super fresh and full of flavor. Tsukemen held its own and great, even compared to the Sawtelle dipping ramen spot I frequent. Not as good but still so dang good. Happy this spot is so close where I can frequent if I have dipping ramen cravings and can't make it out to Sawtelle. LA traffic is no joke peoples!!!

Farrah U.

Yelp
Service was great! So kind and super fast! I think our food was out in under 10 minutes! Food was so so good. The restaurant was clean and had a selection of chili oils. The chashu was melt in your mouth delicious, broth had a depth of flavor and noodles were the perfect density. I also loved the spam musubi and the karaage was juicy! Such a nice hidden gem but don't let the quaintness fool you!

Su S.

Yelp
A friend recommended that we try out this ramen restaurant. Although it is not the most popular spot in the area, the food did not disappoint. I ordered the Tonkotsu Ramen - Spicy (Level 3). The broth was silky with a rich umami flavor. I love spicy food and found that the level 3 spiciness was enough to taste some heat. The noodles were cooked well such that they had a subtle bite left to them. My favorite part of the dish was the pork chashu. It was rich, tender, and flavorful. We also ordered the Spam Musubi which came with a small salad. The Spam Musubi was delicious. The saltiness of the spam and seaweed combined well with the sweetness of the rice and sauce. The service was kind and fast. It took around 5 minutes to receive our food. The ambiance was pleasant and not too loud. It is a small restaurant so seating is limited. Plenty of parking near by. I would come here again.

Gary G.

Yelp
When you arrive this place is tucked in next to a dry cleaner. But as small as this restaurant is, the ramen is "Oishi" I always thought authentic Japanese would only be found in Gardena, not so! Once you're seated your drink order is taken, soon after the meal. My review is for the ramen only, I haven't tried any of the other menu items, I want ramen If you're wanting authentic Japanese ramen and in the southbay area, stop here

Sandra J.

Yelp
Tried Ramen Shack for the first time today via Door Dash. I ordered the Tonkatsu Spicy Ramen Level 4 and it was great but spicy! I love spicy but definitely getting level 3 next time. The pork chashu was also great but wish they were bigger. Overall very good! Can't wait to eat in the restaurant!

Lisa C.

Yelp
I got the spicy ramen, level 3. Way too spicy for me. Glad I tried it but personally It's not something I would get again. It was nice for the owner to reach out to me regarding a few things. So level 3 is extra spicy and 2 is medium. I guess i should have tried a safer level of spice but I was feeling under the weather and figured the spice would clear me up. And boy , it did!! It's perfectly spicy , just too much for me. As far as the broth goes, at first glance I thought it was too little but after I poured it over my ramen and veggies it was as more than enough broth with some left over. So all in all, if you want something for when ur feeling a little under the weather or a great soup for sinuses, or congestion or just a heart, savory, healthy and clean authentic ramen is a cozy place. You should give them a try. I want to go back for the beef roll and some other yummy hearty looking items I saw on their menu. The mountain vegetables I added to the ramen order was delicious and a great addition. 2nd night I'm enjoying the ramen. cond night I'm eating my ramen. I added some Mexican. Rena and it's perfect for my spice level, plus the noodles and vegetables are so good!! Definitely comforting and rich!

Kevin H.

Yelp
Really good, hole in the wall ramen spot. Ramen was really good and clean (not salty). I even finished all the broth. Don't underestimate the spice level. Service was really good

doug s.

Yelp
First time to this highly reviewed ramen spot and it did not disappoint. Some of the best ramen I've had in Norcal & Socal in a long while. We had the Tonkotsu White & the Chicken Shoyu Ramen. Delicious! The only issue to be aware of for first timers is they only have 4 tables! This shack is tiny! Between the lack of capacity and what seemed like a robust take out business you should plan on waiting to get in & get served. The owner/waitress was polite & professional but she was hustling! Next time I visit I'll try to time it so I'm not starving before I arrive.

I G.

Yelp
Such wonderful authentic flavors, everything tasted fresh and arrived to the table quickly. The chef and server were very kind and provided excellent service. We are from out of town however, we felt very welcomed. We would come back again.

Aj A.

Yelp
Considering the fact this place seats inside a strong 15 or so people and some ample outside seating , the food and service make the difference. The ramen here has spoken to me, transported me to the early days of Tsujita l.a. and the annex. Im happy to be able to frequent this flavor locally due to the fact this same flavor exists but almost an hour away due to traffic without the menacing parking of santa monica. The ambiance is reminiscent of small mom and pop restaurants with almost a max of 3 hard working people. If you are on a hunt for great ramen and THAT specifically, don't sleep on Takumiya!

Saphace A.

Yelp
This is my cousin's favorite place to go when he wants ramen. We came on a Thursday evening. It's easy to miss as it's connected to a dry cleaners. The place is tiny! Maybe more for takeout. We all got different kinds of ramen. I enjoyed my food although I thought it could've been more flavorful. But my friends had broths that tasted better than mine. I think I had the Tonkotsu ramen but I can't remember which one. One of my table mates got a spicy ramen which was actually very good! Another ordered poke. We also got takoyaki and edamame which was very delicious!! Overall, the noodles themselves were okay. I didn't feel like they were generous in that department.

Paul C.

Yelp
Authentic ramen , you betcha Small restaurant with a Weird location - in the alley between Smart & Final and Fatburger Located adjacent to a dry cleaners. There are designated parking spots in front The ramen is what I recall from my time in Yokohama. The staff are Japanese and are good natured at my poor language skills Tips: Save room and get the Tai-yaki for dessert The karaage is amazing! Lightly battered, fresh chicken cooked to perfection

Patti B.

Yelp
This wonderful restaurant is tucked away, but so well worth the find. The food is savory, fresh, and yummy! We ordered the Ramen Shack Ramen, Regular Spam Musubi, Gyoza, Chicken Shoyo, and small salad with the most wonderful dressing . The gentleman who took our order was so nice. The restaurant was small inside with three tables and a couple more outside, but cozy. I should have taken pics but forgot. Highly recommend.

Tracey S.

Yelp
Little hole in the wall that serves some of the best ramen around. Really enjoyed it and will be back.

Susan S.

Yelp
Maybe we were there on an off night, but it wasn't very memorable. I had the garlic ramen, non-spicy, and I think that was the wrong order. Hubby had their house ramen, spicy, and it was much, much better. I also ordered a side of chashu rice bowl, and the chashu was very disappointing. Not melt in your mouth chashu at all. Karaage was very good though, and I really enjoyed it. If we come back, I'd order something else. I think I would enjoy my next visit a lot more, now that I know which dishes to order. There was a very nice gentleman that was serving all the tables, and everyone came at once, so he was super busy but very attentive. Props to him for working so hard, made the experience a lot better. As others have said, a very interesting location. I never noticed it before and I would've never known about it, had it not been for Yelp. Interesting set up!

Kenji O.

Yelp
Visited Takumiya on the way home from the airport tonight. I've been there a couple times now and decided to write a review. I ordered the 7oz Tsukemen with a 3pc gyoza and 3pc spam musubi adder. Food came out relatively quickly. I rate the gyoza as 7 out of 10. Slightly above average. I like a little more sesame oil in my filling flavor but overall, it was fried/steamed to perfection which is more important. The spam musubi were acceptable/basic with a little teri on the rice. Now here's the hard part, the tsukemen noodles were great, chewy and thick, just the way I like them. The broth was the question, flavored very nicely but just barely warm. I like my broth to be on the temperature hot side. Off night? Other things I've had in the past include the karaage and spicy ramen which are both good and the pork bun which is average.

Rebecca T.

Yelp
I was craving tsukemen, but didn't want to go all the way to Tsujita for it, so I was glad that Ramen Shack was closer for delivery! I ordered the six-piece chashu tsukemen, as well as added an egg and bamboo. Delivery arrived early, so I was soon ready to eat! The broth wasn't anything to write home about (I found it a bit thinner in consistency than what I've had), but the noodles were thick and chewy. Chashu was tender, although it didn't melt in my mouth as others I've had. Egg was perfectly soft-boiled. The portions don't appear big, but you will definitely be full afterwards. Overall, I would probably still choose to go to Tsujita for tsukemen, but Ramen Shack does the trick to satisfy that craving closer to home!

Risako M.

Yelp
Good food. But the ramen tends to come lukewarm. If you like it hot like I do, you probably should let them know that when you order.

Michael O.

Yelp
This Japanese ramen restaurant is located near Pacific Coast Highway (PCH). It is on the corner of Elena Avenue S and Avenue H. This place is hard to find since it is in the back of the parking lot; however, you may find your parking any time during the day since there is a medium-sized parking lot adjacent to the store. And additional parking areas are also available nearby as well. There's a good selection of ramen options which is a major plus. And there are also appetizers, sides, ahi poke, teishoku, and rice & bowls. The price is a bit on the high side l, but it may be due to the store location. By the way, you may want to visit this place in small numbers as this place is not spacious. Their service is excellent and friendly. And the food is served promptly after placing your orders. If you have a craving for some ramen when you are in the Redondo Beach area, you certainly want to give a chance to this place!

Lije D.

Yelp
I love how spicy they can make it! My go to's are the spicy ramen, garlic ramen and the bao.

Sandy Q.

Yelp
This is the most tasty ramen broth I have ever eaten. I wish I had ordered more extras to put into the soup. Ramen Shack is my favorite place for ramen now. I will be going back soon to try other dishes for sure!

Devyn S.

Yelp
So delicious and the service is kind and quick!! Will definitely come back. It's small and clean and cute and delicious 10/10 recommend

Rick V.

Yelp
Been here several times. Spicy miso is my ramen of choice. Always. Spice level 4 produces euphoria. Nothing to gripe about. Consistently bomb. Best ramen in the area. First time ordering spam musubi. Guess what? Bomb also. Get some!!

Amy X.

Yelp
Nice little hole in the wall restaurant but offers delicious ramen! It's a small location tucked in between some buildings. They don't have a lot of seating in the restaurant but every time I've gone, I was able to find a seat. I've tried the tonkotsu ramen black and the spicy miso ramen and both are delicious - you can't go wrong picking either one. There's plenty of parking too!

Nathan S.

Yelp
Very unassuming, little "shack" attached to a dry cleaning business. The dining room is very small, but there was only one other family inside when I visited at 8:30 PM a few nights ago. They're a little strict with masks, so be aware. I ordered some sausages, gyoza, and tonkotsu ramen. The gyozo was probably the best I've ever had and the chashu melted in my mouth. While the ramen itself left a little to be desired, everything else was great.

Joe J.

Yelp
Honestly the best ramen I've had in the South Bay and it's not even close. Nestled right behind pch next to a cleaners, you would never expect the flavors of this hidden gem but it hits you in the mouth right away. Super fresh Ingredients and made authentically by Japanese chefs, you can tell how much care they put into each dish. No need for a fancy atmosphere, the food speaks for itself! Service is quick and incredibly nice. This is now our go to place.

Olivia A.

Yelp
We Love the little sausages with Ramen(level 2 spicy), a side of fried rice, gyoza, and Karaage chicken. (I love the Miso base ramen, and my hubby loves the spicy).

Mary C.

Yelp
A hidden gem in the Riviera! I will definitely return here sometime soon. I ordered Garlic Ramen and my husband ordered the original with spicy level 2. Both were good. Their curry rice with karaage looks good and that will be my next one.

Dayana T.

Yelp
Yoshi the owner is such a sweetheart. Very attentive . The vibe is so calm and welcoming. Everything we had tasted amazing!!! 10/10 recommend. Great price, will definitely be back.

Long T.

Yelp
I took a detour to explore more of California on my own. I got in the mood for ramen, so I went ahead and stopped by for it! When I stopped in, the server there was friendly and greeted me warmly! I appreciated that this small place took time to accommodate for outdoor dining as well as allowing peeps to enjoy eating indoors. The chicken karrage is my go-to starter for any cooked Japanese meal. It was one of the crispiest chicken karrage dishes I've had since a couple of years back at a restaurant in Seattle. The ramen was pretty good too! If you're in Redondo Beach and don't mind having hot noodle soup in a hot beach area, then stop by here! I enjoyed it and wish I could try the other ramen dishes. Sadly, I am but a humble tourist.

Grace C.

Yelp
4.5 rounded up to 5 for overall experience. 4.2 stars for taste. Spicy tonkotsu broth with hanjuku tamago. Bite and texture of the noodles, doneness of the egg, and richness of the broth were on point. Chashu lovers might have issue with their chashu which is thinner than most. There are 5 levels of spiciness. After consulting with the server and telling him how much I love heat, I went with his suggestion and got level 3. Level 3 had a nice little kick, but I like that o-m-g-SO-s-p-i-c-y-H-E-L-P-m-e type of picante. I ended up adding half a container of shichimi to bring up the heat. Def going for level 5 next time. Surprisingly tasty - who would have thought in Redondo Beach right?! Can't say how this compares to the establishments on Sawtelle or Little Tokyo, but I would definitely return. Additional stars for this quaint oddball of a ramenya. First it's on PCH, but not visible from the street and sits adjacent to Smart and Final in a dumpy strip plaza. There are a few simple tables and chairs for outdoor seating as well as seating for approx 2 parties of 4 and 2 parties of 2 inside. The interior is confused and adds to its charm. Cute rustic mirror and wall paint gives off cool relaxing beach vibes, but it's paired with red and white table cloths like from an old school Italian pizza joint. V interesting. The focus here is definitely on the food. Servers spoke to each other in Japanese. Has that smalltown mom and pop ramen shop in the countryside of Japan vibe.

Hiro S.

Yelp
Placed takeout order of chicken shio ramen plus mini eel rice bowl and mini salad. It was well packed. Everything was very tasty and also priced reasonably. Ramen broth is clear side yet very flavorful which I like. Most ramen places here are focused on tonkotsu broth, so it is nice to have wide flavor options like Ramen Shack Takumiya.

Nick B.

Yelp
I luckily made it just in time to eat at my favorite ramen restaurant. They're closed midway in between lunch and dinner, so it's tough to find free time to stop by. Great service, great food, and they're usually pretty quick. I ordered the 10 pieces of pork chashu ramen in the white broth. I ordered extra noodles with it, as you can never have enough noodles. This has to be my favorite broth, creamy, and delicious. The pork is sliced thin and is tender. You can taste all the flavors in the ramen. This place is a hidden gem, and I would recommend anyone in the area to give it a try. I also had the 5 piece gyoza for an appetizer, and man it does not disappoint. They give you a side of their dipping sauce. All the things I've ever had here is delicious. This definitely isn't my first visit...and it won't be my last.

Joey T.

Yelp
This place is amazing. I've lived in south bay for around a year now and have been on the hunt for good ramen ever since. This is THE place. FOOD I ordered the spicy tonkatsu ramen and the gyoza. - The ramen was everything you'd expect from an authentic ramen joint. Perfectly cooked chashu and noodles. Rich and creamy broth. Great tasting spice that gives you the heat you want without making you cough up a lung. - The gyoza was perfectly cooked and fresh. SERVICE The staff was professional, friendly, and considerate. Smiles all around. Food came out in under 10 minutes. They never let trash or plates linger on the table. Yoshi is the man! I'll absolutely be back.

Chadel L.

Yelp
We have always passed by this place and never got to try until now. I'm so glad that we tried it here. Ramen is on point! Broth was rich and tasty. Chashu Pork was well marinated and tender. Also order the Chashu Rice Bowl, Gyoza Combo that you can choose with your ramen and an order of Takoyaki. Every dish was on point. I'm excited to try other items on their menu. Service was quick too. Not only did we not wait too long for our food. The servers were quick to grab trash every other moment or so. I highly recommend all ramen lovers to try this spot or for those wanting to try ramen for the first time will definitely not be disappointed here.

Nick P.

Yelp
My friend and I stumbled upon this place, the outside is unassuming and doesn't look like much, but the quality of the ramen was superb! I eat ramen every where I go and I travel full time, so I'm picky about my ramen, but this ramen was delicious and I highly recommend it! I'm not sure about the rest of their food because I had their ice tea and it was actually pretty gross which is the reason I'm giving them 4 starts instead of 5. The cleanliness of the restaurant could be better as well, but at the same time it's often these "hole in the wall" places that are bomb. Overall I would definitely be back for more ramen!

Kelley L.

Yelp
This is a gem in South Bay. Although Torrance has a lot of ramen spots, Ramen Shack Takumiya is better than a lot of ramen I have tried in Torrance (and South Bay in general). It is located off PCH, but it is not visible off the street. The place itself is a bit small. There are maybe three tables inside and three tables outside at this time. The service here is really friendly, and the food is decently priced. I like the spicy tonkotsu ramen, especially the noodles. The takoyaki is also good, but comes in five, I believe. The sausages are also small but tasty. If you are looking for good ramen in South Bay, this is definitely worth a visit.

Rj F.

Yelp
Atmosphere: the truest hole-in-the-wall in the Southbay. Ramen shack is tucked next to a dry cleaners in the back lot parking lot of a bunch of other stores on pch. The chef and staff are delightful. They do not have an alcohol license. Food: My first and the best coconut ramen I have ever had. A deep umami broth balanced by that coconut flavor. Accompanied by tender chashu and adds of- beansprouts, pickled ginger, green onions that add texture and flavor layers. Topped off with a soy soft boiled egg. The Ramen Shack ramen is also an amazing classic if you don't like coconut. They even have a good Spam musubi if you have space.

Dakota G.

Yelp
A must have! I tried the Ramen Shack today for the first time and it was 5 stars easily. The service when I walked through the door was attentive and respectful. I ordered the Tonkutso Pork Ramen - spicy lvl 2 add Tofu. The food was prepped in 10 minutes or less and when I finally got home to sit down and try it, the broth was still hot and everything tasted fresh. I loved the spice level but was glad that I snagged a couple packets of chili oil to add to the ramen, it really brought it up the next level, and is mouth watering. Thanks to the Ramen Shack for a delicious lunch.

Ted A.

Yelp
Really small place hidden in the back of the parking lot. Not sure if it's pandemic spacing, but there were about 3 tables inside and 1 outside. Not going to hold that as a negative. Some of the best ramen shops in the world don't even have seats. Just keep in mind if you're coming with your whole family. There's a good selection of ramen options, and I got the spicy tonkotsu. It was pretty good and they were not stingy with the toppings! The price is a little high, but I can't really complain, given the location. If you're really hungry, just order some extra noodles!

Maruko X.

Yelp
Ambiance: small and packed family style ramen house, limited seats and very hot inside Service: very fast and friendly, provided useful suggestion Food: overall good taste Chicken Karaage - *** average taste Chashu Bowl - **** flavorful, recommend Chashu Ramen - *** with toppings of green onion, pork chashu, and bamboo, choice of spicy broth, creamy broth and chewy noodles Ramen Shack Ramen - **** signature ramen here, toppings include green onion, pork chashu, bamboo, egg, seaweed, and red ginger, choose white broth, oily and flavorful chashu and egg, thin noodles, recommend Chashu Tsukemen - ** cold and chewy thick noodles, flavorless dipping soup, the chashu was great Price: generous portions and decent prices, about $20~$25 per person

Luz R.

Yelp
Delicious!!!! I highly recommend. It's a hidden gem. The restaurant is very clean and de service is outstanding

ZJ L.

Yelp
Love this place. Awesome Ramen. Great kids meals. Only downside, needs a bigger place, so get there first.
