"Long considered the best ramen in Barcelona, Ramen-Ya Hiro used to command massive lines of diners on Carrer Girona, until the restaurant delighted loyal customers by finally accepting reservations after more than a decade of service. Now, hungry patrons no longer have to fight over tables to taste chef Hiroki Yoshiyki’s deeply flavorful and nuanced broths. The menu is fairly simple, with just three choices of hot ramen — soy ramen with a combination pork-chicken-seafood broth, miso ramen with a pork and chicken broth, and seafood ramen with baby clams, mackerel broth, and local seafood garnish — and two cold ramens: tsukemen (chilled noodles dusted with dry mackerel powder and lime, served with a soy yuzu dipping sauce) and hiyashi chuka (cold noodles with roast char siu pork, cucumber, bean sprouts, and egg, served with a light vinaigrette). Try to reserve a table at least a week ahead of time, though the restaurant does still save space for walk-ins each night." - Sam Zucker

*Be prepared to wait one hour to get in* not sure if they take reservations?, because we came 25mins before the opening time, there were already 14 people, however at 7:30pm when opening, the other side has a short queque and they get in first not sure if they had booking already? we are confused. Ramen has 3 flavours, shoyu, miso and seafood. miso brouth is very thick, pork chashu only comes two piece. you can add extra toppings. Chef is japanese and with other local team, good work in the kitchen, I appreciated. Food is great. However I hope they improve how to organsize the waiting queue or increase opening hours.

Google
I enjoyed my dinner at their outdoor tent. Immediately after they opened up at 19:30, there was a lineup. The ramen is delicious. Roasted rice tea tastes bland. Overall, it is a come-again restaurant.

Google
This is review for take out. Don’t use this as a guide for dine in. Ordered to go/takeaway. Very bad. Ordered miso ramen, miso ramen with picante sauce, and tofu salad. We had to cook our noodles and warm up the broth. But the soup was strangely thick: perhaps they used a thickener like flour, cornstarch, or a nut paste. My friend could not finish the noodles. And this person loves noodles. Too much work for a very bad bowl of ramen. Better off with instant ramen.

We came to Ramen-ya Hiro without reservations, it took us around 45min to be seated. The ramen was delicious and the appetizers as well. It was a perfect place to have a group of 5 celebrate a reunion. Definitely recommend.

Google
We waited quite a while but after eating the food it was definitely worth it - best ramen I’ve had in Barcelona. Service was fast once we sat down. I’d definitely recommend making a reservation!!

Jason Fung

Google
Queued for 20min in a weekday dinner time. I would give it a 5 star review as it is definitely a good ramen spot in Europe standard. Surely not something you can compare to the ramen in Japan. Flavour wise, broth taste still quite good and rich. The char siu is delicious as well. Overall worth to have a try!

Google
Nothing special, I don't understand why people stand in line there. The food is average, the ramen only looks nice. The food is for one time, no impressions to come back.

Google
One of Barcelona's culinary gems that we will long remember after we return to the US. The ramem is well worth the wait. Delicious and remarkable. Service was efficient and friendly. People were lining up an hour and a half before opening. There were over 35 people in line at 9pm after we finished our meal. Do not pass up experiencing this restaurant!

Yelp
I found this place by a recommendation from a Barcelona native. Upon arrival the place was already packed. The place opens at 730 and I showed up at 8. There was a line to get in as reservations were all booked up. We waited for about 40 mins . But let me tell you it was well worth it !!!! The gyoza was amazing and same with my miso ramen bowel !!! The only reason I have this place a 4 star instead of a 5 was for the wait time and the general ambience of the place. Because of the long wait line we felt rushed to eat quickly and free up our table . I wish it was more relaxed and allowed for time to have a proper dinning experience.

Yelp
This was probably the highest rated ramen place in Barcelona when we looked, and we were craving Asian food so decided to stop by and give it a try. We went around 10PM and there was still a queue. We waited about 15-20 minutes and then were seated at the bar. We ordered a shoyu and miso to try the different flavors. The ramen broth makeup was one we haven't seen before - comprised of chicken, pork, and seafood. What an explosive flavor combo! The broth was thick and fatty, noodles were cooked well and the chashu tasted seasoned. However, the broth was extremely salty. If you eat it with the noodles, it's less apparent, but by itself was unbearable. We always finish our ramen broth but we couldn't stomach how salty it was and left it. The shoyu was saltier than the miso. Perhaps this is just how ramen is in Barcelona - saltier than usual?

Yelp
LOL, ramen in Spain? I was extremely skeptical about eating ramen esp in Spain, but my body can only take so much tapas. They were getting so repetitive that I needed a change of palette. The reviews on yelp and tripadvisor looked promising, so why not. It's sat today and we arrived at 230 in hopes that there wouldn't be a wait. Boy were we wrong. Line was crazily LONG. We were scared they were going to come out and cut off the line because 330 is supposed to be their closing time until dinner opening again. To my surprise we we seated at 345 with a few parties after us. It was a cold long wait, so bring a thick jacket to brave that winter cold. I ordered the miso + corn + butter. To my surprise, the ramen was really good!! It was prob better than some places I've had in the Bay Area, or at any other places I've tried in the USA while on vacay. I would've enjoyed it better if I could opt to add some spice to it. Maybe I can? I didn't want to ask to make it difficult.

Yelp
Another random restaurant that I had to visit in Barcelona. Its quite far from Tapas... the name says it all. My friend and I was in the mood for soup and I was on Yelp looking for the perfect place for a warm bowl of soup. When the search results shows this place with high reviews, we decided to take a detour from Tapas and get our soup on. Man was the line long we we got here 30 minutes into the opening hour. This must really say something when theres that much patrons willing to wait for ramen. After a good 45 minutes of waiting, our table was ready! Man, it was jammed packed inside. Since we had so much time to burn waiting, we already knew what we wanted to order. I had the Tonkatsu Ramen with the side of Gyoza. The noodles were just right with a good consistency. It separated and was not stuck together like some mediocre places that I've visited in the States. Char-sui was spot on with the nice blacked crust and tender to the spoon. Broth was just full body with good character. Man it was delicious. I would recommend this to those who travel here and need a breather from Tapas. Pretty solid and random place for ramen.

Chris L.

Yelp
I would give this place more of a 3.5 stars. The ramen was good for a chilly windy day in Bacelona however I would not wait 30 minutes again after trying. The service is quick but not attentive. This place gets packed so they know they will always have people lined out the door. We ordered the seafood and miso ramen and shared tofu salad and gyoza. I had a beer and Boo Boo had a hot green tea. Everything was around 32 euro. Seating is tight. Be prepared to share a table if you're a party of 2. My sweater smelled like pork at afterwards. Had to change out of my clothes at my airbnb.

Yelp
Authentic ramen in Barcelona, a few blocks from La Sagrada Familia. You'll want to arrive early for the evening, there may be a line

Alice W.

Yelp
We waited in line about 30 minuted~ we got there around 9pm? So the wait wasn't too horrible. Bf got the miso ramen (added an egg) and I got the tsukemen (dipping ramen). I personally liked the broth for mine better. I think it's unique that there's a seafood broth taste to their soups. For a Japanese restaurant in Spain, this actually wasn't bad. I'm pleasantly surprised!

Charles N.

Yelp
Surprisingly, this is an excellent ramen house in Barcelona. It opened at 7:30pm, but by 7pm, there were already 46 people waiting to eat. I wish there was a skip-the-line option but we ended up waiting until 9pm to eat. It was worth the wait. The miso and seafood ramen were both excellent. The broth was really good and the meat were fresh. The ramen was cooked perfectly. It was not spicy at all. There were limited appetizer choices. The gyoza was okay. Nothing special. Overall, it's an excellent restaurant. I would definitely come back, but next time, a bit earlier so that I don't have to wait too long.

Amin S.

Yelp
We were visiting Barcelona from USA and felt like Ramen so we ended up at Ramen Ya Hiro. This restaurant opens at 8:30 but a line starts around 7:30 due to limited seating. It took us almost 2 hours to be seated. Once we were seated, ingredients were fresh, food was served pretty quickly and service was very good. They even provided us an English menu. If you are feeling like a bowl of ramen then you might want to try this place. But hopefully you are not in a rush! Lol

Jade J.

Yelp
I wanted Asian food during my trip to Europe and it was near my hotel. I got there at 9pm and got seated at 10:30pm, the longest line I ever waited for a meal. There was nothing else I wanted to eat so I decided to wait. I ordered miso ramen which was ok. The staff was nice and they worked hard. My rating might have been higher if I hadn't waited long but it wasn't the fault of the staff. But after all that waiting, the food didn't taste as good as I expected.

Seung Eun C.

Yelp
There is always always a line for Ramen Ya Hiro. Key is to get there about an hour early and get first in line so that it make you feel better about getting seated first =) The ramen will hit the spot for sure. The broth is creamy fatty and delicious. Coming from LA where ramen is probably as good as the ones in Tokyo, I very satisfied. But please note, this ramen is probably the BEST in Barcelona... Actually, they are really in a category of their own where competition doesn't exist. I'd also recommend the chasu fried rice, fried gyoza, and of the course the korean side of kimchi. It's a small place - there is limited seating inside and outdoor seating of about 8 small tables. Service is pleasant and food is served quickly. Just quickly eat and leave because that long ridiculous line of people will be staring you down. Recommended!

Yelp
I lovee love loveeeee ramen, I came from Canada, and I lived in Toronto for quite a while so when it comes to japanese food I have tried quite a lot, and ramen is one of those restaurant I hunt for the most. Location, small restaurant that can fit approximately 20-30 max? And outside about 10-12 people? This place is super popular with their japanese animation drawing on the wall, stool chair by the bar and have quite lot of loyal customer who actually willing to do the line in the cold for over 2hr+( yep I was one of those customer)... Ambiance is casual and noise lvl is quite loud. I ordered myself the miso ramen with extra corn, let me tell you, the ramen taste amazing, the soup was powerful and creamy but not overpowering, the meat pretty much melt in your mouth, the texture of the noodles is perfect, if I say this place best Ippudo ramen would you believe me??? Well, in my opinion it did. I can't believe I find such good ramen place in Barcelona. This place is one of the best ramen I have had, considered I lived in Toronto and is like food heaven there.... also tried NYC as well. Price range is 9-14€ not too bad. Portion wise is average. The only reason this place lost a star is due to the waiting time and waiting area..... 2hrs+ in the cold it's no joke

Yelp
24 seats inside (8 tables of 2 and 8 bar seats) 5 tables of 2 outside but still under the awnings. It's very tight inside so not great for group bigger than 2, tbh. After hiking around Park Güell, I got in line at 2:30 thinking about whether I am going to miss my La Sagrada Familia entry time at 4 or not. I saw too many reviews with people saying they waited 2 hours! While I was in line, I had to think hard about if I was going to jump out of the line if it's my turn coming up. Thankfully, I got inside in 40 minutes so I was able to make La Segrada, too. Like most folks, I went for the lunch menu deal with the option for miso ramen with extra cha shu and egg, gyoza plus beer (but got served water lol). The broth was very rich but not overly fatty. Perfect slow cooked egg with oozing yolk. The meat was charred and super soft. Noodles were a little too soft for my taste. I saw the chef tasting the broth so they must be checking consistently throughout the day to make sure taste is on point/ not salty.

Jacqueline C.

Yelp
Very disappointed.. Friday night we came here at 8pm and already saw a 20-ppl queue. Waited til 8:30, got seated at the terrace and we ordered a tsukemen, gzoya, onigiri and a soja ramen. After a solid 30-45 mins wait one of the staffs asked us to move to a 2-person seat (we were3) but at that point we hadn't gotten our food. We understood that our table could fit 4, but one staff seemed to move us to another table without giving us a choice. The tsukemen was bad. The sauce/ broth was plain salty and bland at the same time. The noodles could pass, but it's def not good tsukemen. I know it's spain so I can't compare it to the US or Japan. But given the hype with these reviews this place is at most average. The soja ramen was better; at least the broth had some flavors. But overall it's just not delicious ramen. It was a 5/10. Needless to say the gyoza and onigiri were not good. The Gyoza was worse; I could make better ones heating up chinese packaged dumplings.

Sandy C.

Yelp
Japanese ramen seems to be the new rage in Barcelona. Ramen-Ya Hiro is for the enthusiast. They're doing something special here. You can tell by the lines that go around the block for lunch and dinner. Small hole in the wall, playing old school hip hop music and open kitchen. It does take a long time to be seated and to get your food. But they don't have many cool spots like this in Barcelona for ramen, so the experience is worth the wait.

Andrew L.

Yelp
Yup... I got ramen in Barcelona. I was pleasantly surprised that there was a large population of Japanese in the area, so I figured why not try their food since I'm here. The broth was excellent and the pork quality was on point, even better than some places in Los Angeles. The pork has a more consistent fatty texture to it (probably because of the way they they raise pigs here). Sometimes you need a break from tapas... Lol only sometimes

Angeline C.

Yelp
Wow wow wow. Just wow. I came here after about a week in Spain, eating everything except Asian food. I wasn't sure what to expect to be honest. I thought to myself, how good can ramen be in Barcelona of all places? Well, I decided to give this place a try and I am so so so so glad I did! The ramen here was phenomenal. Line - you will need to come early. We came for lunch. We started waiting on line about 40 minutes before lunch started at 130pm. We just made the first seating. We were seated by the bar and that was the best seat in the house since you could see the chefs make the ramen. The place is pretty small so I can see why the lines get so long. Plus this place has very limited opening hours. They make your ramen according to the order in which the order is received so even if you sat down first, but didn't order until everyone else did, you won't get your ramen until much later. The noodles are made in house. They were so so so so good. You could really tell the chef put in time and effort in making the noodles fresh each day. The broth takes about 15 hours to make. The egg was perfect and just the way it should be, nice and runny. The best part was the cha su. Just wow. I took a look at the cha su while they were making the ramen and it looked meh to me. It actually looked a bit dry and I was afraid it would be bad. Well, I was wrong. The cha su was so tender, soft and melt in your mouth. It was so so so good. Everything complimented each other so well. This bowl of ramen was the best I've had in such a long time. I dare say, if this was in NYC, this would be my go to spot for ramen. This ramen is comparable and on par with ramen I've had in Japan. If you are a ramen lover, I highly recommend checking this place out. Yes, it will take away one of your meals. I get it, do you really want to eat ramen in Barcelona? Probably not, but I promise you, if you are a ramen lover, you won't regret it. Just something to keep in mind, the lines and wait times are extremely long. Service here isn't fast and quick like the states. They are on Spain time.

Damian W.

Yelp
Food: 3.5/5.0 Service: 1.5/5.0 Value: 3.0/5.0 Decor: 2.5/5.0 Overall: 3.0/5.0 My experience at this spot was sad. Service was slow and awful. It took 10 minutes to get my order in, then I got handed a dirty plate with what I assume were hardened remnants of gyoza (which by the way were mediocre; not the remnants but my actual gyoza :D) and streaks of soy from the day before. To make matters worse, the timing on my tsukemen was completely messed up, as my broth was nearing room temperature. I absolutely love ramen and have had my share of the stuff in both the motherland and across the west. The noodles were fine and cooked to the right level of chewiness. The broth was pretty good though I'm personally not a fan of fat particles floating in my broth (reminded me of jiro). On the other hand, these guys need to get their props where it's due -- the chashu was fantastic. I literally can't name a clearly better chashu, Tokyo included. My little tsukemen issues aside, I'd put the quality of the ramen here itself at 4.0/5.0, which is not enough to freak out over but still very good. Good enough for me to devour my bowl once I got it. But this shop needs to go visit Japan and pick up some pointers on basic ramen service (it is by far the most authentic product I tried in the city though). And maybe just install a ticket machine while you're at it.

Jenny C.

Yelp
This place is packed for sure. I counted 10 outdoor seats and maybe around 20 seats inside. Arrived here on a Monday at 1:30 right when they opened. All the seats were by then already filled and still 13 people ahead of me in line. My suggestion: get here early!! Our server was great and showed sense of urgency which I greatly appreciate because we waited an hour in line to sit down. Definitely get the lunch menu. More bang for your buck. It includes a ramen (with soup or dry) your choice of gyoza or onigiri and a drink. There is no wine served at this establishment - just soft drinks and beer. We ordered: Miso ramen and added extra egg and corn. Sucks but instead of giving you a WHOLE egg, you only get one. It includes one piece chashu (I though one more piece would've been perfect). The noodles were a great texture and the broth was tasty. Downside: I didn't like the pieces of fat floating in my broth. I think they should've scooped it out. Tsukemem- basically a deconstructed ramen. This includes two pieces of ramen. The server brought out the broth way too early so the broth got cold. Again- pieces of fat floating around in the broth. It wasn't too bad though- more of a citrus taste Appetizers: Gyoza - nothing special. Taste like your normal frozen store bought gyoza. Chashu onigiri - great taste however too much rice on the outside. Again - pretty decent ramen however I think I would like to try a new ramen restaurant. Any recommendations? Message me your favorite!!

Vannie L.

Yelp
Wow this is top quality ramen in a Spanish country. The broth was so flavorful and rich. We got in line on a Tuesday around 7:45p for their 8:30 pm opening. Since the restaurant only seats about 30 at a time, I would definitely recommend getting there early. I had the tonkasku (dipping ramen) which was great. Don't forget the lime to squeeze in. I also tried the miso broth. Again wonderfully rich and savory. I also tried the seaweed onigri which was really really good for being such a simple dish. Would come back for sure.

Anika G.

Yelp
Ramen here was pretty good for being in Spain!! They had a great lunch deal where for 11 euros where you got ramen, either gyoza or a salad, and a drink. My only complaint is that they charged extra for chili to make the ramen spicy. Other than that great ramen for being in barcelona

Emily C.

Yelp
Came here on a drizzly night which may also explains why the queue was relatively shorter compared to any other days. I went for the tsukemen which is one of their season's special with a tamago add-on. The noodles were firm to the bite and accompanied with two slices of tender, nicely smoked char-siu. Choose to sit at the bar if you can! It'll be an amazing experience to watch the chefs on action. The staff were very accommodating throughout my meal and service was quick! My meal sums up to 10.90€ with a glass of green tea. Don't be pulled away by the long queue, they're definitely worth the trip down for!

Carly L.

Yelp
People start waiting in line 45 minutes before the place even opens, so be prepared! We had to wait for almost an hour for dinner, but the ramen really was worth it. Everyone in my group got the miso ramen (which comes with chasiu pork and veggies) and customized it by adding things like egg and corn. The broth is so rich and creamy that I drank the whole bowl. The dumplings and onigiri were good, although not exceptional, but the ramen really was amazing. The servers are also friendly and funny and do their best to get everything done efficiently in such a busy and cramped place.

Torterry C.

Yelp
I love ramen. So during my visit in Barcelona, I got the idea to try out the local ramen. And this one was close to the neighbourhood I was close by. So I decided to pay a visit. I was here around 14 something, it was quite late for the usual lunch time, but there was already a line there. Well, I guess this is the sign that saying the restaurant is good. After like 15 mins of waiting. Finally they got a table for me. The place inside isn't that big. Got some manga and Japanese traditional figures around the place. It really remind those shop I saw in the Japanese TV show. I find it cool. So they don't really have English menu. At least I didn't get one. I check the whole menu. So they bascually offer 3 kind of ramen. I picked the seafood on with miso soup in the day menu. It took a short while, my order was here. And it tasted good. I really like it. But somehow i did expect it more from the noodle, it just seem like there was something missing in the soup compared to some ramen that I tasted before. The price of this place generally quite cheap. The service I found it just so so. I think it is kinda cool place to have a meal. Probably will visit again to try the rest next time I am in Barcelona,

Ling S.

Yelp
People weren't kidding about the line. We got to the restaurant right at opening and there was already about 30 people waiting outside. We missed the first wave to get in, so had to wait almost another 45 minutes? The ramen is worth the wait though! Just like what you could find in Japan. The miso ramen has great flavor! The broth has that rich mouth feel you would expect with ramen. The pork is tender; I just wish there was more of it! There was only one slice. Gyoza are pan-fried perfectly and the onigiri aren't too bad either! Once you sit down and order the food comes out pretty quickly. The servers are friendly and attentive. Sit at the bar if you can! The elbow-to-elbow seating with the view of the kitchen makes it feel like you've been transported directly to Tokyo. After a whole week of eating traditional Spanish food, the ramen hit the spot and mixed things up. If you're a ramen lover, Ramen-Ya Hiro is not to be missed!! Go early and enjoy!

Erika N.

Yelp
Honestly, one of the better bowls of ramen I've had worldwide. Living in Spain made me miss Asian food - especially soup with noodles (hey - it was a chilly winter!). The first time I tried to line up 30 minutes early on a Saturday night in January, there were already probably 70 people in line. It was the longest line I've ever seen for ramen and I've been to Japan and I've lived in the Bay Area and Socal. But maybe that's because their waiting system is pretty inefficient/uncomfortable and the place itself is tiny! Out of the few Asian spots I tried in Barcelona, Ramen-Ya Hiro is definitely the best and most authentic place. After waiting in line for 2 freaking hours (and arriving 30 minutes early), we were finally seated at the bar. I was so tempted to try the tsukemen but their most popular dish is the miso ramen which was amazing. I did get to sip the soja broth which I thought was not as good as the miso - stick to what they're known for! I also ordered gyoza which was good (nothing special, but of course, not bad). I really wish I could've eaten here more often but that line really gets ya.

Felipe A.

Yelp
You should go with time, there's always a 30 min or more line waiting outside. The good news is that it gets your hunger right on point! (; The ramen is really delicious, well seasoned and on a generous serve. It is definitely worth the wait!!

Gergely S.

Yelp
Your expectations are high when you are starving 1,5 hour for a ramen in the cold and you are really sad when it doesn't meet the expectations. It's just an average soup, not worth waiting that much. The gyoza was fine though.

Sarah C.

Yelp
The ramen here is excellent, but plan to wait. We attempted to be there right as they opened, but we were about 15 mins late and there was already a line of ~30 people. We waited for an hour, but it was totally worth it for me because I am a lover of ramen. The broth was amazing and the bowls are huge. You can add kae-dama, egg, etc. There were three options, two had seafood and one was a more traditional miso ramen. We both got miso. I've never had ramen with seafood but it looked really good, too. Definitely worth the wait!

Erika D.

Yelp
Visited this place yesterday on a rainy Saturday afternoon, we were craving some ramen! We arrived at 2:30pm and waited about 1.5hr to eat, we were worried we wouldn't be served but they cut off the line at 3:30pm and we were served! We ordered two orders of gyoza we were hungry and we both had the miso base with corn, extra noodles and some mushroom! Definitely worth the wait! Finished off with a volcano matcha cake!

Mike Z.

Yelp
Great ramen does exist in Barcelona! How can you tell? The main ramen chef is Japanese and the long lines. This place is pretty small (I think there were 30 or so seats, outside included), so there will always be a wait. We waited about 45 minutes before getting a seat at the bar. We ordered the Tsukemen Ramen (€8.50) and Miso Ramen (€7.50) with extra noodles (€2.00). The Tsukemen dipping broth was MIGHTY salty, stick with the miso. The miso broth was very tasty and the pork belly was deliciously tender and flavorful as it was slightly charred from the torch. The noodles were al dente and provides for slurpy fun. The staff has fun and crack jokes with the customers, always a plus. It's easy to see why this place is so popular, the ramen is delicious, authentic, super cheap, and it's a lively & fun atmosphere.

Soner A.

Yelp
It was 20.45 when we arrived the place, waited 1.5 hours for 10 meters line, ordered chicken and seafood ramen. Ramen was ok but did it worth to wait for that long? I don't think so. Why 3 stars? Because ramen wasn't the best. And 8€ for chicken and 9€ for seafood ramen, too expensive. The best thing about the place, great waitresses and fast service.

Jessica J.

Yelp
I've never seen a line for food in Europe. I see them in the US and Asia all the time but when I read that people line up for blocks/hours to eat at this ramen place, I had to try it. The gyoza was pretty good, though if you live in the US, you'll get better there. But the ramen was seriously delicious - I got the miso flavor. The broth was good but the meat and noodles were the star. And yes, people line up for this place before it even opens. I went on a Saturday night and got there at 8pm (opens at 8:30) and waited for 90 minutes for a party of 2. Don't go with a large group unless you're okay watching the smaller ones pass you by.

Yelp
Hot Ramen cold ramen your ramen my ramen, either way, it was Some of the best ramen I have ever had. All your ramen needs will be met here. And the prices are amazing considering the great quality and quantity of food. The food taste amazingly wonderful, the restaurant was very pleasant and authentic. the customer service was 5 star. They greet you coming and speak on the way out. Even though tho line was long, it was worth the wait. But the staff keeps you informed of the wait time. Be in the general area of the restaurant 45 min prior to opening because the line gets long fast. I got there 30 min prior to opening and had a two hour wait. That restaurant is not that big but the staff gets it done and manages to feed every one in line.

Yelp
Well what can I say, my expectations were set high. Based on the reviews, I was expecting the best ramen of my life, or at least the best in Barcelona. For me, that title goes to the Grasshopper located in the Born district. And yes, bear in mind that might be my specific taste. I am not from CA and I have only had ramen less than ten times in my life, so I am not a ramen expert. I can't say whether this ramen was more authentic or not, but I just didn't enjoy it and was disappointed. We came for lunch around 2:00. As always, there was a line, but it moved quickly and we only waited about 20 minutes. Got the lunch set menu which was 10.50. It included a drink, starter and ramen. To start I got the gyozas. For the lunch deal you get three. They were tasty! I chose a toasted rice green tea which came in a beautiful little wooden teapot. Tea was nice, if you've ever had hot "tea water/barley tea" at a Korean place, this was very similar. I opted for the miso ramen with pork and got half an egg for an additional 50 cents. The ramen was a lot creamier than what I'm used to, so if you like that style then you'd probably really enjoy it. I thought it was just too heavy on my tongue and felt gross after eating half. It was a bit salty for my taste. I also felt like there weren't enough ingredients. The miso ramen at the Grasshopper had way more ingredients and more broth as well. I think their bowls are bigger. Also the broth is lush but cleaner and a bit more complex. Ooh, another big turnoff for me was the lack of Sriracha or any spicy sauce. Maybe that's not authentic, I don't know, but I love putting a bit of Sriracha in my ramen. They do have the typical powdered spice but I think the liquid sauce just blends better and adds an element of spicy heat. Service was fine considering how busy it was. The place is nicely decorated and designed. All in all, considering the hype and price, I was disappointed. If you are in Gracia and you want somewhere close by then I suppose this place ain't bad! But if you're willing to travel a bit, I strongly recommend getting the miso ramen at Grasshopper. Not sure if they do a set menu but the a la carte prices are better there. Also, I love having a selection of craft beers which this place lacked.

Yelp
nyam nyam nyam!! I personally gave up on trying to find a decent place for Ramen in Barcelona...until Ramen-Ya Hiro. A generous bowl of piping hot soup with a selection of additions (1/2 hard boiled egg, seaweed, pork, bamboo, a pad of butter and sprouts). The place was packed! And of the clientele that were there, I saw quite a few Japanese people enjoying the soup. So if it gets their slurp of approval, it must be good (or as good as it gets). You've got a choice of 2 broths, soy and miso...I elected to have the soy with egg. pork, and seaweed. Oh and the pad of butter was 50cents extra...but I went for it anyway - will probably bring my own butter next time. I also had a side of gyoza. Not bad, not great either; a little on the greasy side. Stick with the soup, it's very satisfying.

Yelp
Food was good, tea was good, and the chef was very accommodating to my food allergies. I haven't had ramen elsewhere in Barcelona, so I can't compare to anything aside from ramen I've had in California. The reason I can't give Ramen-Ya Hiro 5 stars is because of the line. We arrived five minutes after the restaurant opened, and had to stand in line for an hour and a half. After a day of walking around, up and down hills and stairs in Barcelona, it wasn't fun to stand on the sidewalk for this long (girlfriend wanted to eat here). Please do what every other popular ramen restaurant does - have a wait list where customers can sign their name and put a phone number. That way, we can visit a nearby bar, and SIT DOWN while we wait 90 minutes for food. Honestly, it is the considerate and respectful thing to do.

Yelp
Tasty ramen: ordered the seafood ramen which came with baby clams, 1 shrimp, and 1 fish cake. The mackerel broth was delicious, but the portion size is too small. I will still hungry after eating the whole bowl including the broth.

Yelp
Got there around 9 on a Thursday night, and it opens at 8:30. There was already a line of about 20 outside. We waited for about 30 min and were seated. There were only 2 of us. I ordered the shoyu ramen with corn and bamboo toppings and we also ordered the gyoza. The gyoza was very very good and the ramen was definitely some of the better ive had. But not the best. The wait was worth it, but I wish they had tonkotsu ramen.

Yelp
We got here an hour early(7:30 and opened at 8:30) to stand in line from reading the other reviews. We were not disappointed. Excellent Ramen and such a lovely experience. If you are looking for something different to eat like we we're after being in Europe for three weeks then come here.

Yelp
I was excited to see a ramen place rated so high in Barcelona so I had to come try it out. It was a very nice little shop, beautifully decorated with familiar Japanese art and figurines. Disappointed that they had no tonkotsu broth and disappointed by the wait from the time we ordered til the time the food arrived in front of us (was about 30mins). As for the quality of the food I was very impressed. I had both the tsukemen and soja. Both were phenomenal. I was expecting the tsukemen broth to be dense but it was just like regular broth. Despite this, the cold noodles fused very well with the broth. It was amazing! Would recommend getting there a bit early before it opens

Yelp
We came here cuz it was right on the street of our hostel and it has pretty good review! The line was pretty long around 2pm on a week day but it keeps moving. We got the . I think the portion is a bit small but I guess most people gets smaller dishes such as gyoza and share. The ramen was tasty but not as tasty as the ones in the Bay Area. I'll come back if I'm in the area and is craving ramen.

Yelp
This place is really great! The ambiance is really friendly, and it's really popular among experts on ramen. A really nice thing about this place, is that you can ask the waiters for suggestions if you want, and they'll help you out if you're not quite sure what to get. I completely recommend this place. The reason it got 4 stars instead of 5 is that the service was really REALLY slow. To be fair, it's a fairly small area for so many people waiting to be seated, so they must have been really busy. We waited so long for the waiter to come ask us what we wanted for desert that we didn't end up getting desert. The food took a while to arrive too, but when it did, let me tell you, it was amazing! I really recommend this place, it's an adorable space, with a really sophisticated air.

Yelp
This is a really good bowl. And for Spain it's great to see some diversity and a real appreciation for good food from other parts of the globe. The only thing I could really fault Hiro on are the noodles. While well cooked, the texture just isn't right. Maybe they are using frozen noodles, or just need to work on the recipe. Ramen nerd complaints aside, this is a perfectly good place and one I'm going to keep visiting when in town. If you like ramen and need a noodle fix this a great place. Eat here. ..... Ps. To put Hiro in context of other cities for the real ramen fans... I give it a strong 3/5 for Europe, as I think it's reasonable to hold Barcelona to the same culinary standard of cities like London and Paris (mainly because this is a city that appreciates good food). For Japan (Tokyo, specifically as one Yelper said) I can only give it a 2 or 3. It's good, but to compare it to the ramen capital of the world and give it a 4/5 is a stretch.

Yelp
Having read the reviews from other users, my brother and I showed up plenty early to try and beat the rush. However when we arrived there was already quite a line! Not to be deterred, we stuck it out (the line moved pretty fast) and ended up being seated outside. The ramen here is absolutely top notch and well worth the wait!

Yelp
Random find in the middle of Barcelona. Chef was definitely Japanese and he loves his 70's pop music. Lots of fun to watch him prepare his ramen. Everything is quite reasonably priced (see menu pictures). Flavor was excellent but broth was a bit thin for my taste - I had the miso so maybe the soy is thicker? Would go back again.

Yelp
Yelp bamboozled me again! Waited 15 minutes for a bowl of ramen to cure my hangover (damn you Spanish wines!). This place is not that great. The broth was not very tasty and had no depth. Didn't really taste like pork broth and needed a bit of salt. Ironic because I got the soya (soy sauce). Pork fat swimming along the top but didn't taste very rich. Also, there's just way too much fried garlic in there for my taste. Biggest complaint is the noodles! Thin and felt like I was drinking soup with a side of noodles aka felt like a disjointed bowl of ramen. Ugh. Noodles should be thicker and chewier to pick up the broth flavor. Or be some delicious ass thin noodles. They were neither. Wasn't the worst bowl of ramen i ever had but to say this place rivals ramen joints back in CA is seriously offensive.

Yelp
Great place. Great food. Nice workers. Long line at opening time. Good ramen. Broth was deep and made me instantly smile. The noodles were well done, though it wasn't to ultimate perfection, but for Barcelona? I'd say it was perfect. It's hot inside though. Beware. Bring a fan or something. It'll get a little crowded and jammed. Gyoza was great. Miso ramen was awesome. They did complement each other very well. Try the Japanese beer. Sapporo :) No need to explain more, the place sells itself.

Yelp
It is good, but I prefered Koku for ramen in Barcelona. Here's why: 1) The soja broth was not good - I even wonder if they didn't give me a fish broth by mistake. Very weird flavor. 2) The basic ramen (€7.70) come only with one slide of pork and some spring onions / seeweed. Definitely not as many toppings as at Koku, so I think you end up paying more here than at Koku for the same bowl. 2) So much hype here... it is good, but is it worth waiting in line for an hour? Not so sure. Ya-Hiro is definitely the most authentic place though - it's awesome to watch the chefs work - and their gyozas are amazing.
