Under these new owners, the Venezuelan food was excellent, with that Latin Creole flavor. Despite the fact that they're just starting out, they're doing WONDERFUL. The size and prices are very reasonable. 100% recommended.

Google
So this used to be Ramirez which was so yummy, so we went there thinking it was still there. Turned out it was this little gem. It's Venezuelan food. So so good. My husband has empanadas. The cheese was ok but the chicken was fabulous. I had the black beans, rice and beef stew!!! So phenomenal. Absolutely yummy!!! The flan and tres leches were bomb to. Reasonably priced. Only thing I will say their was the language barrier. It was hard for me to understand and hard for the server to understand. That makes it difficult when you have questions. But still, we got our food correctly. Place is fabulous. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

The food is good. The staff are very nice and attentive. The atmosphere is not bad, but it's nothing to talk about. It's simply as small spot with a few tables where you can either stop in for a quick lunch or you can sit with a friend to have a meal while no one bothers you. It's never been busy when I've gone but don't let that fool you into thinking that it's not a good spot. The food is good. You can order from the ready made stuff on display or from the menu where all is cooked to order, which is what I usually do but not because the already made food isn't good, because I've had almost everything and have no complaints. I just usually want something like skirt steak which is so good. They're fast and good. I highly recommend if you haven't already realized that, lol. Btw, it's no longer called Ramirez. They go by a different name. It's now Esquina Latina which translates to Latin Corner.

Google
Typical Dominican and Puerto Rican food of excellent quality. Service score 10. For those who come from the countries of South and Central America, Ramirez Restaurante, is also able to kill the longing to enjoy food with native ingredients.

Changed owners recently smaller portions larger bill. Things that used to be included in the meal are charged for. 15 for what they call a medium with rice 4 small pieces of beef in the beef stew 1 potatoe piece no carrots. Sign out front says 10 special with 1 meat. I quess they mean 1 piece of meat. Maybe the extra 4 pieces of beef got me the upcharge. Been coming here for years under previous owner. Always received a good value for the money. This I can't do will not be coming back here. Why did you have to mess up a great spot. Just to try a nickel and dime for an extra few bucks. You will lose more customers for nonsense like this. Makes no sense.

Yelp
Stopped in here yesterday after a beach day. The place is small, very casual and it's clean. The young lady working behind the counter is friendly and efficient. We ordered Cuban sandwiches and food to go. The rice & beans & chicken plate was good. Lots of flavor. The toasted bread for the Cuban sandwiches was great. I am disappointed that each sandwich only contained one piece of ham, one piece of cheese. one tomato halved, and a very small amount of thinly sliced pernil. They were dry. There was no mustard or pickles on the sandwich which would classify it as a Cuban to me. I asked for these condiments & got ketchup & mustard packets. Before we started eating there was a bottle of hot sauce on our table but for some reason it was taken away when the drinks were brought out. Next time I'll order the mofongo & hopefully they're not as light on the filling with that.

Yelp
I'm from NYC and was visiting a friend. I had got the brown rice and peppered steak combo. Comes with either ripe plantains (maduros) or tostones and a 2 liter. 2nd order was white rice with stewed chicken combo, also maduros or Tostones, a 2 liter. Added an avocado salad. I must say, 5 star rating is just. Waited about an hr for delivery but I'm glad we did, everything besides the rice was made fresh. No excessive oils or salts, food was honestly perfect. I must say tho, 1 order feeds 3 grown Dominican men.

Yelp
This Mecca for homemade Spanish food is nothing short of AMAZING! The exterior has had a recent update that is clean and inviting. Inside you are met with the glow of neon lighting. There is a hot-table cafeteria style to the left for take-out. To eat in, you take a seat and you're promptly given a menu. The restaurant is very clean with neat rows of tables and chairs for seating about 24-30 people. We were warmly greeted by 3 different folks. The woman who worked the register also waited on us and was not only very friendly, but also really good at her job, getting our beverages, answering questions and taking our order without writing a thing down and getting it all on the money! The menu is easy to read, very extensive and authentic. We've eaten here before and had in mofongo with pork and the beef stew on our minds! The stew was served with yellow rice and beans. The beef just falls apart and the carrots and potatoes are perfectly done. It is loaded with flavor and very filling. The mofongo is what legends are made of... if you haven't had mofongo, it is a mash of plantains with seasoning, you can get it with pork, shrimp, seafood and several other compliments. Get the garlic oil for an additional boost of flavor... We got it with the pork... again, just tender and bursting with flavor. We could not stop eating until we were stuffed! Oh, did someone say dessert? We immediately decided to split the Flan... nothing short of the BEST we have had! Despite our best efforts, we still had enough to take home for another meal. All this for $40, including a 20% tip! Now granted, East Main Street is not known for its inviting nightlife, but we parked easily in front and felt very welcomed into the restaurant. We have talked several times to several different people today of our food journey last night and can't wait to go back (with friends)! Highly recommend!

Yelp
This place never fails us. The food is so amazing and always fresh. The service is above and beyond. I have to say everything we order is always great. We normally get two dinners and a few sides. the fried sweet bananas are the best that I've had. the roast pork is so juicy, the chicken is succulent, the beans are stewed to perfection. I've haven't had better anywhere else. I have been to plenty of Spanish restaurants from Puerto Rico to Florida to New York to Dominican republic and I kid you not, this is the best Spanish Fare, We have had. I'm so happy that we are only a 20 minute drive from this restaurant. Pepe and his family do a fantastic job. The restaurant is clean and really cute inside. you can see all of the food there in the buffet table before ordering. Definitely a diamond in the rough. Gabi and Carlos

Yelp
First of all, 2 stars is a generous rating. The only reason I'm giving 2 stars is because the pulled pork on the sandwich was decent. I ordered a Cuban sandwich and some beef and cheese patty's to go. As for the sandwich, over all terrible. This is the second time it's been terrible. The bread looked like someone crushed it with a steam roller after it being let go stale for a week. You could knock on it like wood. There was one layer of ham and cheese and some pulled pork, some lettuce and tomato with a pickle. I don't know who told these guys how to make a Cuban, but they need some serious help. The beef and cheese patty's were equally horrendous. The meat inside was literally bad. Like you could smell the expired taste to it. They attempted to mask it with heavy grease and some barely noticeable cheese. This is the second week in a row they've botched my order. How this place has a 4 star rating is beyond me. $15 for a worse than school lunchroom meal is atrocious. I may consider trying something else off the menu for a "third times the charm" attempt, but not likely. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone to go here. There's much better food locally

Yelp
Excellent food and the delivery is on time is my second time I ordered catering I'm really liked thank you

Yelp
Mire Papi, a Couple of years ago their restaurant burned down, with it one of the best places where you can get Puerto Rican food, disappeared for a season. But now finally Ramirez is back, although the facility does not look close to what Ramirez used to be. The food however is still delicioso. The arroz con polo, BBQued pork, black beans and the sweet plantains. If you ever, for whatever reason end up in Bridgeport, also known the Arm-Pit-of -Connecticut, or BeePeeTee you need to go here. BOOOOOOOORIIIIIIIIIIQUAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!

Yelp
Amazing authentic food. Good prices and the food continues to be good when order large quantities. I have been there about six times and it never disappoints.

Yelp
Great place to eat. Food and service is amazing. We will defiantly be back again. The bathroom is a little thing but beside that great portions of food, prices right.

Yelp
This restaurant is the truth. You can feel the heart and soul in the cooking.

Yelp
So I went here today and I ordered an order of tostones with fried cheese an order of tostones with salami and a mofongo with cheese . I was charged $30 for these orders I literally sat there and waited for my food. The tostones were horrible mad soggy not crunchy and on top of that there's was legit like 6 tostones in the plate. You charged me $10 for 6 tostones I know that definitely wasn't even a whole plantando ! The cheese was extremely soggy and didn't even look properly fried. Like wtf did ya do let it sit there when I'm legitimately sitting in the restaurant . Never again ! Save your money and time !

Yelp
After hearing some hype and reading some reviews about this place I decided to give it a try. I ordered pork and rice and flan. I was not impressed with the meal it was not very flavorful. This "home made" flan was inedible the caramel was burnt and the flan looked like it had been sitting there for a few days.

Yelp
This place has the best beef stew I ever had. The owners and workers are super friendly they treat you like family. I definitely recommend going there

Yelp
Just what I was looking for. On a trip to Connecticut getting some traditional Spanish food is a must, and there is a lot of competition in this area. Went to Ramirez which is a Dominican spot but hit all the PR requirements with one exception (no acapurrias). We wanted all snacks so I had a meat and cheese pastelillo, one relleno de papa and I chomped some of my dads chicharron which I usually don't order. I think the chicharron was the best I ever had. The outside was crispy and the inside juicy and tender! Pastelillos were delish as well and my family enjoyed the morcilla (blood sausage) which I will not do the owner was super sweet and attentive, respectful and welcoming. They have a few tables inside so you can dine in or get to go. They also seem to cater events since I saw a van outside they owned. Would surely come back to this gem

Vanessa A.

Yelp
I have never been to the old location but coming to this restaurant, I hardly eat Spanish food anywhere else and I live in Manhattan! The owners are super friendly and the food looks and tastes delicious! I usually order the chicken with yellow rice and beans and platano maduros. Their passion fruit drink is sooo good and so is their fresh squeezed lime juice. The place is always spotless to the point you could eat off the floor. I don't eat pernil or fried chicharron anymore but when I did, I ate it from here before and it always tasted good. They deliver to so many towns, I asked and they told me they deliver to Bridgeport, Stratford, Fairfield and Trumbull. They even go as far as to New Haven for the right minimum ($50+) !! If I would have known that, I would have ordered every weekend when I was in college in New Haven. Whenever I'm in Connecticut, I always stop here for a good meal and friendly service.

Sue Z.

Yelp
Amazing food at an amazing price! The owner truly took care of me, providing great service, understanding of menu, and did not rush me out. I had the chicken combo with a side salad. I left with a to-go back. There was so much delicious food! I will be back for sure!

Yelp
This is favorite place to go for lunch in Bridgeport, hands down. They have a bunch of awesome $5 lunch specials, with all of my Spanish favorites like roasted Pork and Beef stew with rice and beans. They also deliver, just in case you're not brave enough to visit Main St. Bridgeport.

Yelp
Amazing food! Ordered takeout for a group of 13. I ordered the roasted chicken with rice and beans and it was amazing!

Yelp
Was here recently and I will say it was good. I had 1/4 chicken, yellow rice and beans. It all had very good flavors, and chicken was moist and very good and priced at like $8 with a soda. The only reason I have this 4 instead of 5 is because it is buffet style (but they dish out) and not my person preference, but probably as good as it gets for that style.

Yelp
I've had better! We were in the mood for some really good Spanish food. We didn't feel like cooking and decided to venture out to Ramirez . We have been there before and thought they were a little over priced compared to the nearby Spanish restaurants. It's located in the East Side of Bridgeport which is not always the cleanest or safest location to be in unless it's daytime. But, we gave it another try. Parking is usually a problem and there is no private parking lot. We were immediately greeted and welcomed with friendly staff. The place is small but appeared very cleaned. As soon as you walk in you can either walk up to the counter which displays some of the food under hot lamps and take it to go or you can sit and dine in. We decided to dine in. There was upbeat Spanish music playing in the background which was cool. They told us we can sit anywhere and someone will be right with us. When we first sat down we sat in a 4 chair table which was not under the ceiling fan. The waiter asked if we could move to a 2 table in case a family of four came in. We did not think that was unreasonable but he sat us under the fan which was blowing really fast. I asked if he can shut the Fan off while we were dining but he only turned it down to low. Needless to say, the whole time we were there no family of four came in to occupy those seats. That really annoyed me. The waiter was very friendly and did offer fast service! The dinner menu is a little over priced for our liking. We wouldn't mind paying high dinner prices if location was great and the restaurant was beautiful. The lunch menu seemed reasonable if you go between certain hours. Started with an empanada with beef and cheese and it was very good. I ordered a second one and it was a bit salty and the ends were dry as if it were sitting under the hot lamps for a while. I would of preferred they had made me one fresh to order. Also, had white rice and beans with pollo guisada (chicken with potatoes in a sauce) it was good. Overall, our dining experience was okay. They do accept credit cards which is a plus. Our usual place to eat for Spanish food only accepts cash and debit cards and was too lazy to go to the ATM which is why we ended up at Ramirez. Probably will not be back, unless they lower their dinner menu prices. It was okay.

Yelp
Don't miss out on this fine Dominican cuisine! It's family owned which lends to that quintessential latino hospitality! Try everything on the menu (you won't be disappointed), chat it up with the owner - he's a delight, listen to the music and enjoy your friends and family over a cold cerveza. Seriously, don't let anything stop you from giving it a try.

Stephanie S.

Yelp
Love the food . The chicken is amazing . I live down the street from this place and I go frequently.

Yelp
Amazing food great ambiance and family friendly. I'm from New York but travel a lot for work and when I'm in the area Ramirez Restaurant is a must. Quality food at little cost, but most importantly the Sazon is on point! Amazing authentic Dominican food at its best. Just keep in mind to bring a appetite because the plates here are enormous.

John C.

Yelp
We walked in and were immediately greeted and made us feel welcome, like we being invited into her dining room. We started with octopus salad which was great. We got mofongo with chicken, roast pork and fried tostones and mofongo with shrimp. all good. Glad we went and will be coming back.
google avatar

Yelp
I am so glad they've reopened after twice being devastated by fire then by flood! I love the food here. The place is family Run and they must love what they do because it shows in the food. A definite must try!!
google avatar

Rich F.

Yelp
Very reasonably priced and they deliver so if you dont want to go out to eat they will bring their great quality food to your house. The last time i was at ramierez i had the breaded beef with fried plantains. My wife had the pernil and yuca. It was very Delicious!!!!the Beef melted in your mouth and the hot sauce they gave me complimented the meat nicely. The plantains were very flavorful! My wifes pernil was delicious. The seasoning they use on the pork really seasoned it and tenderized the meat! It was the best pernil ive had since i moved to bridgeport in july 2014. The people that work at ramierez are very nice and take care of their customers.they are very thorough in explaining their menu They really give you that family feeling. The restaurant is very clean i recommen this restaurant highly if you are looking for amazing latin food! They have made me a fan of their food! I will be back often If i could i would move in!!!!
google avatar

Lisa S.

Yelp
One of the friendliest restaurants I've ever been to! The owner was a great guide to her cuisine and made sure we had a terrific meal. The mofongo with shrimp in garlic sauce was out of this world. I've never had flan like this -- it was burnt orange through and through with an amazing caramelized sugar taste. They even had decaf cafe con leche, which is not easy to find. I strongly recommend this place, both for the food and the warm, friendly atmosphere.

Sarah Jean B.

Yelp
If could add more stars I would. This place is amazing... They not only deliver to my job (Trumbull) and to my apartment (Shelton), but the food is always hot hot hot and perfect every time!!!

Bradley C.

Yelp
I really like the place of the location. You'll come across a unknown park in a cute neighborhood if you walk a bit. Envision arriving within the Drop to see the drop simply leaves. The sandwihces are somewhat costly but like several the dining places in CT , there's a distinctive flavor, a distinctive combination of sauces and spices mixed artistically althouhg you can't keep in mind everything you purchased, it remains along with you. Reached enjoy it! Like the majority of locations, there's seats and furniture outdoors so that you can individuals view.

Matthew J.

Yelp
Ramirez restaurant was clean, friendly, and the food was hot and fresh. So why the lackluster review? The food was certainly tasty but it was salty. Very salty. And the monfongo de camarones was overcooked and lacked inspiration despite the 15 dollar price tag. The most of the other food was run of the mill but our meal lacked cohesion due to the ordering process which doesn't allow for food to be ordered in more of a family style way, but rather rice and beans and a protein. I would have liked a cold side or perhaps a starch or something. I certainly think Ramirez merits a visit despite the fact that there is a wealth of similar Spanish American restaurants in the area and honestly this rating could easily be a 4 however its a long way from a 5. Also, despite the quaint and inviting decor, the place was pretty small and looked more like a converted fast food eatery. (I remember when it was a Chinese take out place) the long in the short of it is good food, nice people, not the greatest though.
