"No visit to Khayelitsha is complete without a trip to Rands. Whether you’re on a walking tour or have teamed up with other travelers who are eager to explore, head to this outdoor bar for cheap drinks and local food you won’t find anywhere else in the city. Everyone in the township is at Rands for the first Sunday of the month, though any Saturday or Sunday spent here will be unforgettable. This is the spot to drink Castle Light, eat unbelievable shisa nyama, the Xhosa term for barbecue, and spend hours dancing to afrobeats. " - bri cave

It’s located in a township, so some people may be a bit skeptical to visit. But it’s absolutely worth it! The vibe is amazing, the food/ braai meat is delicious (best I’ve ever had) and affordable, although I had to wait 2 hours to get it because it was packed and their kitchen has no order whatsoever.

Their slogan is “See Your Vibe” so if you really want to see the vibe of the native people of South Africa then this is the place to go and order a plater of meat with your choice of drinks.

Place is so cool, the only think I did like about them closing early 23H00, we arrived 09H30 we went to the bar and they allowed us to buy lot of alcohol while they know that they don't allowed alcohol leave the premises when they closed. We hed to leave our alcohol behind

Nice place to chill, especially during the weekend. Must visit. When I went they were having an series of events called 'Summer Sessions', and it turned out the event was free despite big names like Kelvin Momo, Simmy, and Muzical Chef performing. Good vibes all around. Love the fact that they give back to their community. If going, do take note that they close at 11pm, try arriving before sunset as it can get quite packed around sunset time. Also check their socials as they give updates on what's planned from time to time.

Rands is awesome for music lovers. Excellent place to go for pap and vleis on a Sunday and dance to the best music. The crowd makes the experience wholesome. I have personally never experienced any violence. Very safe place to relax and unwind with friends. Food and drink prices are reasonable.

I have a very great experience, starting from when you enter the restaurant, you are welcomed with warm smile, the service is out of this world, the food taste very good, and the atmosphere is appealing. Overall great staff, I'll recommend to everyone to give it a try.

Proper place to have a good time at. Security is on point, toilets are kept clean and the dj's keep the crowd entertained. The vibes are immaculate. Definitely will visit again just to have more fun again. Oh yeah and not forgetting the meat guys 🤤 a bit pricey but worth it. I would recommend visiting this establishment if you wanna unwind.

Rands was the true South African experience. 🔥🔥 Definitely go with a local and make sure your bags have no food or liquids because its not allowed. The braai they serve there was unbelievably good. “First Sunday” was the event that took place when we were there. Entrance fee: 200p/p
