Every time I go try a new 'highly rated' restaurant with my boyfriend, we ask ourselves "Was it as good as range?"
Usually the answer is no. If anything, maybe a tie.
Range is such a good restaurant that even though I have no idea what's on the menu right now (it's seasonal) I will recommend it to anyone. I just trust the chef completely.
The front is a bar area, there's some seating in a narrow space across from the kitchen, and then a nice large back dining area. The decor is classy and modern -- not trying too hard at anything. I like to think that's because the food is the main event.
The flavors in each dish are impeccably thought-out. The first time we went, we ordered a salad, two main entrees, and a dessert. Usually a salad is a "we should eat vegetables" affair, but not at Range: I took one bite and it was like an explosion of flavor in my mouth. All the dishes are so flavorful that it forces me to appreciate each bite. When food's that good, you don't even feel like you need a lot -- but Range doesn't skimp on portion sizes!
