Had such a great experience last night at Range. I know that it isn't comfort food, and there were some things on the menu that were definitely not served in my house growing up, but I would have to describe it as very homey. Everything is so well thought out even down to the drink menu. I love the catchy names, and the selection of craft liquors was impressive. We were a party of four so that gave us a chance to sample a lot of things since it is served "homestyle" and portions are made to share. My favorite dishes were the beet and goat cheese salad, the raw tuna, the leg of lamb and the Brussels sprouts. There was nothing on the table that was bad, just less great. I can't wait to go back and try more things. We stayed in our comfort zone with this visit, and we followed the suggestions of our server, who was great, but I definitely want to try some of the more adventurous dishes. I will definitely go back! A great restaurant close to home :-). Edit

A friend a I ate at Range last Thursday. I am a fan of Top Chef and was excited about trying the food. I ordered the crab cake and he order the fried chicken. Our food was delicious and the service was exceptional. I was also pleased with cleanliness of the restrooms. I would definitely eat here again.

I'm a fan of the Voltaggios and had higher expectations for this place. I write this review after multiple visits. The service is good, not great. They did forget to bring my beverage and apologized. The ambiance and location overlooking the atrium is quit nice. While I want to be in love with the food, its just average tasting. None of it blew my socks off. If this was a local neighborhood eatery, yes, I'd be impressed. But for a Voltaggio production given its location and the price point ... my companion shouldn't be joking that "we should've just eaten at Cheesecake Factory next door" as we leave.

Disappointing Restaurant Week experience. Service was extremely scattered with plates taking a very long time to make it to the table. The table next to us waited an hour between the first and second courses, and we waited 30 minutes between ours. The food is pretty good. The cheddar biscuits and the "everything potatoes" are a must try. I'll be back in hopes that it will be a better experience on a more calm evening.

I've never written a negative review before but here it goes. Came on a Saturday night for a 7pm reservation. We've had high expectations for this place and eat out a lot, and are definitely not cautious with the use of our money on such occasions when we do go out. The service here was quite deplorable, at a restaurant that wasn't even close to nearing capacity. The food was good, with excellent presentation, at an extremely slow pace. All in all our dinner turned into a two hour affair where we only saw our waiter twice, for the initial order, and to clear our plates. He never took a drink order, came to check in on us, or offered any service of any type at all. We attempted to approach management, but they had my girlfriend wait outside the restaurant, for a manager that never came. We were told he would be by our table but also never appeared. The bill was wrong. Will never be going back.

I ate at Range during Restaurant Week 2014. At first, I was really excited about going here, but to be honest, I was not that impressed. The restaurant week menu allows you to pick an appetizer, entree, and dessert. I picked the soup (although the kale salad is very popular), scallops, and some sort of ice cream dessert. The serving sizes are good and proportionate, as in, you won't have leftovers unless you want to take home your dessert. However, the prices are high, and it was not the most memorable of meals. Was there anything wrong with it? No, it just wasn't anything noteworthy either.

I was wholly underwhelmed. We ordered two of the "3 course menus", cocktails and coffee. The ONLY thing that came out of the kitchen on time and hot was the coffee and the soup. The kale caesar tasted like a blend of natural and Easter basket grasses; the corn bread was unremarkable and cold but the bacon marmalade was AWESOME; the char was good but room temperature; the hanging tender was room temperature and chewy; and the desserts were pretentious, warm and late as well. In the midst of this MESS, we also had two dishes delivered to our table that we did not order and our waitress was absent and unengaged. Better food and service is to be had at 5 Guys.......AND you can save yourself $100. Range is all hype - all show and no go. I have never been more disappointed except at Zaytinya when the valet wrecked my wife's Rover...but I digress. Don't waste your time or your money - its better to just keep it moving.

I am late in putting up my review, but have been raving about Range to everyone both locally and out of town. The restaurant was recommended by a friend while out in Chevy Chase one day. This may sound funny, but we were lucky enough not to be able to get a reservation due to the lateness of request. Instead, we were able to sit at the bar area where the entrees were cooked. The food, service and overall experience were amazing and very memorable. We thoroughly enjoyed watching and talking with Mattie McGhee, the Chef. His culinary expertise, dedication and friendliness made this a night to remember. We are now planning our holiday family dinner at the Chef's special counter and are very excited for a wonderful evening.
