The Best Restaurants on Portland’s North Mississippi Avenue | Eater Portland

"Southeast Division’s restaurant exploring the diversity of Myanmar’s food culture opened a location on North Mississippi, with house-made chickpea tofu, lahpet thoke made with Oregon-grown tea leaves, and hearty noodle dishes. The lemongrass-marinated fried chicken is a favorite among regulars, as is the sweet and salty coconut milk." - Eater Staff

The food, the ambience and the service is just out of the world. The food is delicately flavorful and the texture of the food and the pairings of drinks both alcoholic as well as non alcoholic quite impressive. Don't miss the first chicken here. The noodles with the pork is awesome. If there isn't pork, just ask them to add it..it tastes out worldly! Service is impeccable and quick. Loved the outdoor seating, esp in the summer.

I like the dumpling itself but the sauce is too much vinegar. Milk tea is pretty good, pretty high quality. I don’t like the pork noodle that much … it taste a little bit off for me and the fried chicken is … hmmm dry and no taste.

We did family style pork noodles and pork spareribs ribs/rice. Food arrived faster than we though and it was delicious. The pork ribs just fell off that bone and we mixed it in with rice before eating. To note, these dishes are garlic heavy so the taste lasts in your mouth after (in case youre on a date or something 🤣, nothing a stick of gum won't fix or a cocktail to cleanse the pallette after). Service team was great and attentive. Will definitely stop by again to try more dishes. The cocktails at Bone Sine are fun too.

Good restaurant on Mississippi Ave. We got lahpet salad that had green tea leaves. Salad was okay. Fried chicken was good and crispy as well. It came with a side of coconut rice. We got mushroom noodles which were great. We enjoyed the Shan khao swe made up of rice noodles, spiced pork and spiced peanuts. Overall good quality and portion size. Must try their noodles. They have Pfreim beer 🥹🥹🤩🤩♥️

First time trying out this place! We had the large dumpling, tea leaf salad and pork noodles. The food was good. It wasn’t busy at all!

Flavors and taste were rich and tasty. Level 3/5 spice but that didn’t stop me. Generous portions for 2 people as we have leftovers. 10/10 would recommend

We loved everything we ate! Service was super friendly, great vibes and love the low key but intentional decor (punk Burmese cowboy??). We got: 🤤KPS - aka giant dumpling comfort food 🍜 Shan Khao Swe - Pork Noodle Mountain 🍛 Tofu curry - we have never had tofu made of chickpeas before?? Amazing 🥗 Lahpet Salad - the lil crunchy chana dals sent me

I will be retuning for sure. Tea leaf salad is enough to keep me coming back! We fed 5 people for under $70 including tip and it was decently priced. Cool interior and fun to watch the open kitchen. It’s counter service. Non-alcoholic beer available.

Yelp
Food: 4-5/5 Service: 5/5 Value: 4/5 Ambiance: Casual We ordered the half fried chicken, tofu nway and a special, which was ground pork over rice noodle, very similar to a pad thai. I've only had a small sample size of Burmese restaurants, but comparing RB to Burmese places in San Francisco, RB's dishes seemed authentic and at least had authentic SE Asian flavors. The ingredients are very flavorful in the noodle dishes. I really enjoyed the tofu sauce in the tofu nway, the special dish was like a Burmese pad Thai. I thought the fried chicken was satisfying, but if you're looking for a "best fried chicken", I'm not sure this would be it. The house sauce for the fried chicken is a sweet and sour sauce. Staff were extremely friendly. Portions are normal sized. Restaurant is an order at the front and self service water, utensils type of place such as Nong's. I'd come back again when I'm craving Asian comfort food.

Yelp
I've been wanting to try this place for so long. And finally checked it out last night. Service was quick, efficient and the people working were vey nice making sure we were enjoying everything. Really casual and well-decorated interior. We tried the big dumpling, the fried potatoes, and a couple of the noodle entrees and were absolutely blown away. The best part was their special of the night which was a wide noodle with ground pork. I am sad that it took me so long to get out there. I am looking forward to checking out the rest of the menu soon!

Yelp
Had the Lahpet salad, pork Si Chet noodles and the mix fry which comes with bean and chickpea fritters, onion pakoras. I love tea leaf salad and would come back solely for this any day. The mix fry plate was surprising good and I appreciated that nothing was over cooked and was just right. The Si Chet noodles were also good in flavor but a little oily. Overall, the food was good and the staff were friendly.
