"Get your King Cake straight from one of the Houston area’s most popular sources. Whether for pick-up or shipping, this Beaumont bakery offers a variety of King Cakes, including the cinnamon-laced and iced sorts topped with purple, gold, and green sprinkles, plus versions made with fruit and cream cheese fillings, and its fudgy Voodoo cake made with coconut. Each cake serves 20 people and costs between $28 and $35. If looking for a more personal size, add a mini cake in strawberry or cinnamon to your order for $10 more." - Brittany Britto Garley, Megha McSwain

Rao’s is a beloved community staple off Cypresswood, and for good reason. With its welcoming ambience, cozy atmosphere, and bold coffee, it’s a local favorite that consistently draws me back. I usually come in focused on my morning coffee—especially their exclusive, robust 1941 Anniversary Blend—but their tempting pastry case makes discipline challenging, especially when I’m trying intermittent fasting. I’ll admit, their chocolate chip cookies are dangerously good—perfectly sweet, chewy, and irresistible. And truthfully, there are mornings when the enticing aroma of freshly baked cinnamon rolls wins me over, ending my fast a bit prematurely. Worth it? Absolutely. If you’re looking for a reliable coffee spot, have a sweet tooth that refuses to be ignored, or just want an inviting place for your weekly gatherings, Rao’s Bakery, Coffee, and Cafe is absolutely worth visiting. Now, back to enjoying my coffee—it’s exactly the bold kick-start my morning needed.

Love this little bistro! I prefer the "less sweet" items, so the Thumbprint cookie and the Sand Tart are my faves; but my hubby loves all the sugary goodness and peanut butter anything is his favorite. He also had the six layer cake/pie thingy. It was huge! And delicious! He also ordered a hand-crafted shake using three gelato flavors. It was so yummy! There are adorable decorations and gifts for purchase as well.

I read this place had a good key lime pie, so I took a drive to find out. I didn't know what to expect of this place. It was a delightful little cafe and the staff was friendly. I got a whole pie to go for $20 and it was a very good key lime pie, bit on the tart side but I enjoyed a slice when I got home. I definitely will go back and enjoy lunch or dessert with a coffee or some gelato here.

it’s great that they open at 6am for the early birds like my 75 year old father, who loves this cafe. he took me here and the croissant breakfast sandwich was toasted to perfection: lightly crispy and flaky on the outside and warm pillowy on the inside. the warmed coffee mugs are a nice touch for your morning coffee and the staff is very friendly. we got a kings cake to-go; excited to try it and to have local kings cake available!

My family and I stopped by for the first time two days ago after driving by for a while, we noticed it was actually quite busy with guests sitting in the dining area which was happily promising up until we stepped closer to look at the pastries. Upon walking up to the glass I immediately noticed the amount of little flies inside the display with all the muffins! And they were also not like fruit flies, much bigger but smaller than a house fly. I saw that they had doors that kept the pastries enclosed (which is good, if they had actually worked at keeping any bugs out). After that I lost my appetite and was very disappointed as I was excited to try something, but we ended up leaving.

I order a small birthday cake for my little sister. It was suppose to be a chocolate lover’s cake with fudge and whipped cream as the filling and whipped cream on the outside to replace icing. But I was very disappointed when I cut the cake to see that there was no fudge, just the chocolate cake and whipped cream. I had made the order in store and they had gone over the exact order and written everything down so it’s upsetting that it went wrong. I have had their chocolate lover’s cake before and I was eager for everyone else to try it. Unfortunately the birthday girl noticed that there was no fudge and the cake wasn’t enjoyed.

Let me start off by saying thank you to the amazing staff Angelina and Soleil! They were kind and very helpful. This was my first time dining in and won’t be my last, the atmosphere was so peaceful and perfect for 6am coffee run before work. The baked goods were so delicious, the muffins really hit the spot with my coffee!
