Super easy to check-in online. Despite the last email directing us to stop at the Office on our way in, it was closed when we arrived. We tried calling the number listed and were only able to leave a message. Sites are easy to locate using the camp map online & numbers posted by each spot. Plenty of dead ground wood to use for a fire. An ax/ hatchet would have made it easier. Our tinfoil dinners on the coals were superb. The outhouse closest to our site was pretty rough on the nose if you're unfamiliar with that type of setup. We had a super peaceful spot (#42) by the river. The tent spot was very uneven... could use some attention. It's right next to the river path so not the most private, but we didn't mind. We spotted showers on our way out across the field from the Office, but the river was very clean and we'd already enjoyed a refreshing morning swim.

Spent a day with family and friends river tubing with Rappahannock River Campground and it was a lovely day. Smooth operation: we were shuttled back to camp shortly after arriving at the end point. Access to the river was easy as was navigating our tubes down the river. Friendly staff: everyone was welcoming and helpful. We will definitely come back - and maybe even camp by the water next time..

This campground is a fantastic spot for primitive camping with surprisingly clean toilets, which we observed being cleaned frequently throughout the day. The only improvement I’d suggest, and the reason I'm giving 4 stars instead of 5, is the safety briefing for river tubing, kayaking, and canoeing tours. Our group of seven included two in a canoe, one in a kayak, and three on tubes. We received life vests and were transported to the launch site, where the owner assisted us in safely entering our kayak and canoe. However, the safety instructions were inconsistent and unclear. Those on tubes were told to 'keep right,' but this was not communicated to the canoe and kayak group, who quickly moved ahead. At the final diversion, where keeping right is critical, due to rapids our canoe was swept left and got stuck at a dead end. Fortunately, no one was injured, and we made it back safely but had to lift the canoe and launch it across the boulders and logs with the help.of other members of our group. Navigating canoes through rocks and rapids proved challenging. I recommend choosing a tube or kayaking instead. I strongly urge the owner provide a detailed map of the river route and a thorough safety briefing covering dos, don’ts, and safety tips before trips begin. Nevertheless, our group had a great time and enjoyed the experience. We will definitely return soon!

One of the most gorgeous campgrounds I’ve been to! A group of friends and I went for three days and absolutely loved it. The owners are lovely and the grounds are well maintained and are rich in biodiversity. At our site, we had direct river access and a small walking trail through the woods. The grounds feature showers, outhouses, a fishing pond, a camp store, and spigots for running water. Everything is well maintained, clean, and peaceful. This is a wonderful camping spot for both families, friends, and couples alike!

Pros: Friendly stuff. peaceful and clean campgrounds. You can go tubing and rent a canoe. Cons: For me it was just not warm enough for tubing, Water was too low to rent a canoe. Other non water activities like a hiking trail would be nice. No strickt consequences for quite hours. People were still playing loud music after 10.

Spent Memorial Day weekend here for a quick getaway. We reserved spot 55, which is closer to the entrance of the campground. The site was beautiful, nestled in the trees and was furnished with a picnic table and rock lined fire ring. Another site was located right next to ours, but there was enough space for both of us to where it didn’t feel crowded. A short walk away was a basic camp store that stocked the bare essentials. The shower and bathroom stalls showed their age, but were clean. The shower had hot and cold water. The real standout was the staff who were friendly and beyond accommodating. All in all this is a basic no frills campground with an amazing staff. Will definitely visit again.

We didn't stay here but rented a canoe for three hours, including shuttle service drop off three miles up river. The staff was just great, super friendly and chill. The location of the rental office (and the campsite in general) is gorgeous and peaceful. They even had a new puppy there to greet us, and what's better than a puppy? The river itself was like traveling back in time. We had the place to ourselves (and on a Saturday no less) and didn't see a single building or car during our paddle down river. We were lucky enough to see lots of birds, including a bald eagle, and a beaver. Do yourself a favor and either rent from this place, or camp there, or both. You will not be disappointed.

Mini family get away to unplug and recharge. Amazing spot was clean on arrival and ready to go. Outhouse was anticipated because it’s rustic site and it was fair trade off for the seclusion offered. We already scoped out two more sites that will be picks for later summer weekend trips. Loved walking our son down to the river and checking out the trails. Also loved our dog could join us on this trip! All around great time!
