Super easy to check-in online. Despite the last email directing us to stop at the Office on our way in, it was closed when we arrived. We tried calling the number listed and were only able to leave a message. Sites are easy to locate using the camp map online & numbers posted by each spot. Plenty of dead ground wood to use for a fire. An ax/ hatchet would have made it easier. Our tinfoil dinners on the coals were superb. The outhouse closest to our site was pretty rough on the nose if you're unfamiliar with that type of setup. We had a super peaceful spot (#42) by the river. The tent spot was very uneven... could use some attention. It's right next to the river path so not the most private, but we didn't mind. We spotted showers on our way out across the field from the Office, but the river was very clean and we'd already enjoyed a refreshing morning swim.

We had such an amazing stay! We stayed in one of the cabins for out anniversary and it was even more than we expected. The cabin was like a hotel in the woods lol! We decided to go canoeing as well and it was a beautiful time. We will definitely do it many more times in the future!

Spent a day with family and friends river tubing with Rappahannock River Campground and it was a lovely day. Smooth operation: we were shuttled back to camp shortly after arriving at the end point. Access to the river was easy as was navigating our tubes down the river. Friendly staff: everyone was welcoming and helpful. We will definitely come back - and maybe even camp by the water next time..

Would have loved to camp here. The property looked beautiful and peaceful. But after several attempts at booking a site online I gave up. Risked the hour drive there to book a site in person. No luck there either. Messaged the phone number provided to inform them that the payment processing was not functional and that I was on the premises to check in. Got no response and no one was anywhere to be seen. An hour and a half after informing them of all of this through text message and informing them I was leaving to go elsewhere and still no response. No apology, no sorry for the inconvenience, nothing. It’s a shame to see such a poorly managed campground that could be a premier spot. Not sure why all the reviews are so good on this place. It was nothing but a waste of 2 hours and an inconvenience for me.

Pros: Friendly stuff. peaceful and clean campgrounds. You can go tubing and rent a canoe. Cons: For me it was just not warm enough for tubing, Water was too low to rent a canoe. Other non water activities like a hiking trail would be nice. No strickt consequences for quite hours. People were still playing loud music after 10.

Did a day trip yesterday and rented a kayak. The place was perfect...clean, peaceful, and family-run with an amazing atmosphere. Highly recommend it for anyone looking to relax and enjoy the outdoors.

This campground is a fantastic spot for primitive camping with surprisingly clean toilets, which we observed being cleaned frequently throughout the day. The only improvement I’d suggest, and the reason I'm giving 4 stars instead of 5, is the safety briefing for river tubing, kayaking, and canoeing tours. Our group of seven included two in a canoe, one in a kayak, and three on tubes. We received life vests and were transported to the launch site, where the owner assisted us in safely entering our kayak and canoe. However, the safety instructions were inconsistent and unclear. Those on tubes were told to 'keep right,' but this was not communicated to the canoe and kayak group, who quickly moved ahead. At the final diversion, where keeping right is critical, due to rapids our canoe was swept left and got stuck at a dead end. Fortunately, no one was injured, and we made it back safely but had to lift the canoe and launch it across the boulders and logs with the help.of other members of our group. Navigating canoes through rocks and rapids proved challenging. I recommend choosing a tube or kayaking instead. I strongly urge the owner provide a detailed map of the river route and a thorough safety briefing covering dos, don’ts, and safety tips before trips begin. Nevertheless, our group had a great time and enjoyed the experience. We will definitely return soon!

We didn't stay here but rented a canoe for three hours, including shuttle service drop off three miles up river. The staff was just great, super friendly and chill. The location of the rental office (and the campsite in general) is gorgeous and peaceful. They even had a new puppy there to greet us, and what's better than a puppy? The river itself was like traveling back in time. We had the place to ourselves (and on a Saturday no less) and didn't see a single building or car during our paddle down river. We were lucky enough to see lots of birds, including a bald eagle, and a beaver. Do yourself a favor and either rent from this place, or camp there, or both. You will not be disappointed.

Yelp
I went to a 420 festival here and it wasn't what I was expecting. The people were nice and so were the vendors. I was expecting more companies trying to sell you things on how to grow your herbs. If the government would stay out of this everyone would benefit from each other. Whether from a economic standpoint and for the help it does for others. Now only the government is making the money because they are the only ones who are allowed to sell you the herb and then they have you in the system . The government allows these companies to functionson, so they get the profi. You can't buy seeds for your 4 plants you are allowed to grow. I didn't give it low stars because it really isn't their fault. Maybe next year the government with get off its heiney and get on with what was promised to the voters.

Yelp
This place is a hidden gem! Our crew of 6 went tubing and it was a great time! The water level was a little low so it was a little slow moving but it was beautiful weather and the float down the river was gorgeous! So don't let the water level keep you away! The owner was so kind and we will definitely be back!

Yelp
I stayed there with my 11 year old son. There was no trash can by the campsites. We boxed up the trash and left if by the side of the road. A few pieces may have flown out and the owner charged us $50 to pick up a few items. This is after I tipped the staff $30. I have no doubt this is how the owner adds to his income.

Yelp
Chill vibe. Helpful staff. Reasonable price. Amazing location with easy river access. A new owner bought this place in 2021, and has been fixing, adding, and generally making it even more awesome. We will be back. It's a true gem.

Yelp
Had an excellent experience! Erik was very accommodating and communicative and they offer Venmo to pay for wood and ice. Pretty advanced. It ended up pouring down rain the day before we were supposed to kayak the river, they were very proactive about checking that the water level and speed were safe for us to go out. Since we were unsure and most of us new to kayaking they allowed one of their experienced staff memebers, Eric to come with us and make sure we stayed safe. Well, if it weren't for Eric I have no idea what would have happened. Almost everyone tipped their kayaks at least once and several people lost kayaks along the way, having to swim quite a bit to finally get them back. Eric definitely went above and beyond to help keep us safe. It got a little hairy at some points. Thank you so much Eric!!!

Yelp
First time camping and was absolutely thrilled with Rappahannock River Campground! A group of us went tubing and appreciated the signs letting us know how to get back to the campground from the river. Erik the owner was very nice and willing to help all around. I appreciated the hot water showers. I can't wait to go back, take friends and family and see what additions will be added to make this even better. Keep up the great work ! Several payment options were also appreciated. Thank you

Yelp
Called to make a reservation, was able to get a spot the same day. Low-key campground, exactly what I was looking for to relax. Cash only. Will definitely come back

Yelp
Very primitive and low-key. Campsites were very well kept and staff was very friendly! Could have done with hot water in the showers but can be overlooked in mind with the location on the river and price. Fishing pond was well stocked and my nephew loved catching "the biggest catfish he's ever seen!" (Catch and release). Visited years ago and didn't see any of the canoe trips going out as in years past, so might explain the lack of facilities now. Still had a great time over all and would go back, just need to pack a shower bag if we need to clean up after a fun day playing in the river.
