"Travis Croxton of Rappahannock River Oysters — who started the company with his cousin, Ryan — sells 250,000 oysters per week across the country, including Mermaid Inn, Carne Mare, STK, Ten Bells, and Red Hook Lobster Pound. “We are not seeing any increase in incidents of issues with oysters. The outbreaks are usually pinpointed to certain areas and usually are issues with handling,” Croxton says." - Melissa McCart

Free parking and easy walking/bike paths with beautiful scenery. My youngest is six and loves it there because he can just on the rocks next to the water and it’s overly safe. Tons of spots to have picnics and enjoy the water.

A great river with all kinds of options for activities to do. I personally love kayaking down the river finding a camping spot for the night then continue on paddling down the next day.

Beautiful walk or just sit on the bench and enjoy the view. The mist was rolling down the river tonight. So stunning.

Everything was nice including seeing some rays and dolphins swimming(2 yrs ago). 2 reasons I left 4 stars was there was 2 broken off pipes close to red/green bouy but they are broken off at water level and that could be very dangerous if hit at a cruising speed. I was about 100ft left of the last bouy approaching locklies creek. The other was around the kilmarnock bridge. I cant remember exactly. And lots of sea nettles. Other than that, it's a great. And wake boat ramp is open again too

Kayaked an 18 mile stretch starting at the Fredericksburg City Docks and ending at Hopyard Landing. This was my first time on a tidal river and should have planned better in regards to the timing of the currents. The river itself is multi-use with plenty of motor craft transiting regularly. The biggest highlight for me in this stretch was seeing a bald eagle up close. I'm sure that this river has more to offer, but because of the high miles and short schedule, I was unable to explore the banks as much as I would have liked.

Fun river to kayak and the fishing was pretty good for both large and small mouth bass! From Mott's Landing to Fredericksburg is about 4 to 5 mile run depending on where you get out. Just downstream of the 95 bridge are some interesting rapids. Hold tight!

The Rappahanock River is 195 miles of pure beauty running through the State of VA. Wherever you view it, you won't be disappointed. One of my favorite places to view it is from Belle Isle State Park in Lancaster, VA.
