Where to Eat in the Dynamic, Diverse Neighborhood of Falls Church, Va. | Eater DC

"This excellent coffee shop and gathering place (one of several good options in the neighborhood including Northside Social and Cafe Kindred) has a nice emphasis on brewing and roasting technique, as well as some interesting drink offerings like cardamom vanilla and butterscotch latte. Find standout baked goods ranging from biscuits to kouign amin, as well as breakfast sandwiches and quiches. Find rotating local artwork on the walls and a bustling assortment of plants, including cuttings for sale." - Missy Frederick

Had the wildest story! Met one of my friend’s sisters here after asking about her pro-Palestinian shirt and became friends with her. Had a great time; very kind people come here. Highly recommend it for the atmosphere and coffee. They even roast their own onsite!

Google
This is a quiet coffee shop, concealed in a corner of a street lined with other shops. There are so many arrays of house plants, lots of seating and even plenty of sunlight to make it feel cozy but also social at the same time. The food and coffee were pretty flavorful. We got an iced coffee and the vanilla cardamom iced latte with a cherry chocolate scone and spanakopita. If ever you’re free on a weekend-run, don’t walk to Rare Bird!

Google
I really enjoyed the atmosphere of this coffee shop. The large windows let in lots of natural light and made it easy to people-watch the busy street outside, while the inside stayed calm and quiet. Everyone seemed to be reading or working—no loud conversations—which made it a peaceful spot to focus. I also loved the touch of greenery with the plants around the space. As for the coffee, I ordered a vanilla latte. It was fine—not bad by any means, just not a standout for me. Overall, a great place to sit and relax or get some work done.

Google
Immaculate vibes on a leisurely Monday. Rare Bird was recommended by a friend and did not disappoint. We drank a cardamom vanilla latte, iced dirty chai, and a nice big drip coffee. All exactly what we needed for a bit of pep in our step. The sun dried tomato, goat cheese and egg biscuit sandwich was incredible and would have ordered 6 more. Delightful little shortbread cookie for a sweet treat. Noise level was great, a slight buzz but easy to work in or join a few friends. Ample parking available behind the building

Google
They have absolutely great coffee and delicious baked goods, the biscuits sandwiches is so good. They have decent amount of dinning space. The Order line was kinda crazy during weekends, but the waiting time was kinda acceptable. Overall, great coffee place for some quick bites and they are featured local artists which is nice.

Google
This is a DELIGHTFUL coffee shop, you can tell by the line that starts out the door. Their matcha is delicious! I watched them whisk it for me. the cardamom coffee was well balanced. Their pastries are bomb! the biscuit is good on it’s own so i know those sandwiches have to be great. The lemon blueberry earl gray cookie was well balanced and soft. coffee cake left some to be desired but had a yummy streak in it.

Google
This is a cute spot to grab coffee and easy to find a place to work while you enjoy. There is easy parking nearby. I got the nitro cold brew which was tasty. I got this though because Oat is their only non dairy alternative. I'd expect a popular coffee spot to have at least 1 other non dairy option. I also got the tomato, goat and egg biscuit sandwich. The sandwich, particularly the biscuit, was very large, but tasty. The cheese though, was not a goat cheese. It was like a brie or camembert. It was a stinkier cheese and not at all expected. It might be good to properly label the cheese. It was an odd flavor and didn't blend well with the other items, I ended up not eating the half of the biscuit it was on. The tomatoes and egg were good though, and probably didn't need the whole biscuit anyway.

Google
This café was a Wow for me!! Cortado had the perfect balance of coffee:espresso. It was smooth and creamy. Just delicious. Loved their Pastry options too. If a coffee shop has kough Amman, they're #1 in the book. This made for perfect pairing for me. The interior is warm, spacious, and cutely decorated. They have coffee subscription, 2nd chance plants (in broken coffee ware), and local pottery.

Yelp
Very cute little cafe with a cozy and bright atmosphere! They have pretty big biscuit breakfast sandwiches that are very filling. Their scones are a bit on the dry side but still good! Coffee was great and servers are friendly! There was a good amount of seating inside with lots of sunlight and plants for natural decorations, loved it. For parking I believe they don't have a designated lot and only have street parking, but can't say for certain since we walked to the cafe. Overall highly recommended!

Yelp
TL;DR: cute coffee shop with lots of selection of coffee, lattes, pastries. Everything was very middle of the road in terms of taste Came here on a rainy Saturday morning and it was still packed! The line was consistently long and finding a table could be tough. There is a parking lot in the back with 30 minute parking, but can be difficult to find a spot at times. Interior was very cute and the service works fast. FOOD & DRINK: ~Iced Americano (2.5/5): too light/watered down for our taste ~BEC Biscuit (3/5): Egg was fluffy, but the biscuit seemed like it was over baked because some parts of the edges felt stale/chewy (not in the good way). The inside reminded more of bread than a biscuit ~Cinnamon Roll (3.5/5): was pretty good! Wish it had more cinnamon flavor on the inside spread ~Chocolate Almond Croissant (2/5): Maybe this was a bad one, but this has so much potential to be really good. It's loaded with almonds and the inside paste was really tasty. But the croissant was so burnt on the outside, that it overpowered the rest of the pastry with the charred taste. This place is okay and maybe their lattes are better than their plain black coffee, and maybe their other pastries are better than the ones we tried.

Yelp
Came here suddenly after taking the bus in the wrong direction, but I always meant to come here at some point! Walking in on a chilly weekend afternoon, I saw most tables were taken up by people on their laptops or with their kids. Luckily, I didn't run into a busy counter and they took my order pretty fast. I had the cardamom vanilla latte. I could taste the cardamom flavor, but overall the drink was standard. The draw to this place is the vibe - natural sunlight, warm, wood, plants, paintings on the wall (for sale!), and nice service. Good place to settle in and get some work done at a table, if you can get one.

Yelp
This place is so good!! I had an oat flat white and tried some of the cardamom vanilla latte and both were amazing. I also tried the cheese bread and it was delicious warmed up. Definitely will be coming back

Yelp
A little tricky to find....nice space. Coffee was delicious and loved the large menu. My quiche was divine and the cappuccino was good, but a little smoky.

Yelp
This place was buzzing when we walked in just before lunchtime. For how busy they were, the service was very quick. My Vanilla latte was delicious as were the chocolate croissant and gluten free cheese bread my table shared. Definitely recommend planning ahead if you need to sit as the tables filled up.

Yelp
Just moved back to Nova and had to check out the hype with Rare Bird Coffee Roasters so I visited on two separate occasions. When I walked into the coffee shop on Saturday morning the line was almost out the door. Some of the customers in line shared that this is normal. The first visit I ordered the Cardamom Vanilla Latte from the reviews. It was not sweet at all and I had to add simply syrup but the latte art was pretty. I thought it was unique with the Cardamom spice but this was not a go to drink for me. The second visit I ordered a Dirty Chai Latte. I love Dirty Chai Lattes as long as they are not made from syrup. The barista at Rare Bird shared that they make their own liquid for Chai so it's not powder but not store bought liquid. I tried it and again was not sold on the drink. It was missing flavors of chai and so I added honey to sweeten the flavors. Overall, I don't think this is my go to coffee shop and I just can't seem to enjoy the few drinks I've ordered. The coffee prices are quite expensive for a drink that I don't enjoy.

Yelp
Discovered this gem of a coffee shop on Reddit and I already cannot wait to come back. The coffee was delicious and strong. I love that there are multiple options for drip coffee. I ordered the cinnamon roll (only available on weekends) and it was pretty good, although I do wish it had more cinnamon. The consistency was perfect but it mainly tasted like sweet dough. The cream cheese frosting was delicious and thick. The orange glaze buns looked amazing too and I want to try one next time. My boyfriend ordered the bacon egg and cheese on a sourdough (!!!) biscuit. It was perhaps the best BEC I've ever had. What an incredible combination of flavors. I love that the biscuit was sturdy enough to hold the sandwich together but still soft and pillowy as any good biscuit should be. Another major plus is the free parking lot behind the shop. There's also an entrance to the shop from the lot (you have to go down some stairs). Arrive early on weekends as it sure gets busy! There is plenty of seating and the open, airy environment is a lovely setting to sit and enjoy your drink and/or meal.

Yelp
We came here early on a Saturday morning (around 8:45) and most of the seating was already taken. All that was left was some counter seating by the door, so keep that in mind! I got a decaf americano and it was probably my favorite americano ever. It was not acidic at all and actually tasted like coffee - I've found that a lot of the americanos I have are just too watery. I got the bacon, egg, and cheese on a sourdough biscuit and it was incredible. Perfect amount of cheese, egg, and crispy bacon, and the biscuit was delicious. Only complaint is my girlfriend's cinnamon roll was really lacking the cinnamon flavor we wanted but since I never order cinnamon rolls I'm not really counting that as a negative in my review. We definitely want to come back!

Yelp
This is an interesting place to add to your stops when going shopping in the area. Harris teeter across the street for example, or the clay cafe studio out back. The prices are what's expected for the area. 4-5 buckaroos per person, but their coffee experience overall is pretty cool. The negative I experienced was that it seemed that my coffee was cold, not hot and almost room temp, because of the cold house cups cooling the pour. My wife complained of the same. Maybe I'll get Togo cups next time if I wanna drink it hot. Not luke warm. The service was quick and what seemed like a happy healthy bunch working behind the counter. Very upbeat ambience with the right crowd. I've been told there have been less busy days, but I didn't mind. Order Togo not "for here" unless you go find a seat beforehand, otherwise you'll be stuck standing awkwardly. It seemed it happened to some people that walked in after us.

Yelp
In an effort to try new cafes/coffee shops, we decided to finally come down and try this widely recommended spot out. Unfortunately they weren't doing online orders at the time so we had to walk in and place our order. We quickly found out why because it was very packed a little after noon on a Sunday (as expected). Loved the art and decoration around the place though. Some seating was available despite the amount of people. Despite the amount of people waiting the line moved fairly quickly. We ordered a Hot Chocolate, a Cardamom Vanilla Latte, and two Bacon Egg and Cheese biscuits. Took a little under 10 minutes so not too bad. It gets a little elbow to elbow around the pick up counter though. The hot chocolate and the latte were both pretty good. Neither were too sweet which we liked. The biscuits were solid, nothing too crazy but hearty and didn't lack in size. Solid shop, great to grab a quick breakfast and coffee especially if you're in the Falls Church area. Parking on weekends can be rough so look for street parking nearby if you can.

Yelp
Get there on the early side to find the marked parking spots. It fills up and don't park where you should not....wait for a spot! The line gets long and there are limited tables!!!! We lucked out with a parking spot and by the time we waited in a :15 line for our coffee/food, a couple got up and offered us one of the few tables. I had a decaf latte, my mom and hubby had dripped coffee. We also ordered the cinnamon roll, biscuit with tomato and goat cheese and roll with spinach and feta cheese. All delicious, served in a reasonable amount of time. The line was probably 20 deep when we left, not what I would want to spend my time on. Plus, bus your table (fine), would rather have folks making coffee but I do think they need to rethink the line, tables, something??? Anyway, go, enjoy, hubby loved the strong coffee!!!

Yelp
The service was good. Walked in to a long line that moved quickly. The barista answered my questions helpfully. The ambiance was a nice local space that clearly has a following. I ordered an iced vanilla latte and the bacon, egg, and cheese biscuit. The drink was not sweet at all. The sandwich looked great. The edges were crispy. The biscuit was fluffy but lacked flavor. The buttery goodness that I was expecting was not there.

Yelp
Whenever I've been in the area, Rare Bird has always been so so busy - as in I don't need my latte that much busy. Yesterday I was able to be first in line, so I was very excited to finally try them again (based on pictures, it looks like I've had them a few years ago). I ordered a sandwich and a cardamom vanilla latte. I was really looking forward to having the cardamom latte, but unfortunately it didn't come even close to my expectations. I asked for it less sweet and the coffee taste just didn't do it for me. Even though I have no interest in going back for their coffee, the reason for the three starts instead of two was the tomato, egg and cheese sandwich. The sandwich is served on a fairly tasty biscuit and I appreciated that I could actually taste the goat cheese. Overall, it was just whatever. Definitely don't see any need to go back.

Yelp
Hmmm, this place is superrrrrrr pricey for a very mediocre Cafe. I love the look and ambiance of the place but... my butterscotch latte came in one size and I believe it was 10 oz. My Havati cheese and egg biscuit sandwich was yummy(added bacon) but for not being able to choose my size option for my coffee and paid $20.19 for two items that didn't make me say, wow... is not my cup of tea. I'm always on the lookout for new cafes because I love coffee, the taste of the actual butterscotch latte was a 4/5 for me. It was good and not to sweet, which i enjoyed. I just wanted the butterscotch to be a little more prominent. It didn't live up to its name for sure... There was quite a lot of people working behind the counter, but service was very slow and they acted very non chalant...almost as if they were better than everyone and didn't care about you and your business...still tipped them 20% haha. Humbleness comes a long way guys!!!

Yelp
GREAT coffee. Yummy breakfast sandwiches. The flavors were so varied and interesting. Would recommend to everyone!

Yelp
It's usually a good sign when you roll up on a place and the line is out the door, and the employees are obviously hustling. Well, the long line wen, and the coffee was worth the wait. Especially since I had been subjected to hotel and conference room coffee for days prior. I ordered a Cortado with honey and cinnamon and it was just perfect! I also got the southwest quiche, which was OK. I should have opted for the quiche Lorraine. Counter staff was friendly and quick, but I didn't feel rushed. I had to run, but I could see myself getting some work done here or hanging out with friends.

Yelp
Rare Bird Coffee is a "rare" sight in the heart of Falls Church area. A quaint coffee bistro in a rusty, idyllic street, where other shops/restaurants such as Dogwood Tavern are located. What I ordered: Cardamom Vanilla Latte. It was so-so and while I probably would not try again, I recommend giving it a go if it's your first time grabbing something on the menu, as it was me. 2/5 stars overall. My recommendation: go on the weekends, specifically on Saturday. The local FC farmer's market runs from 9-12 on Saturdays and is easily within walkable distance of here. There's also a nicely-designed, upscale Harris Teeter's here which is a bit closer to the market, so you can also knock out grocery shopping at the same time. Parking: I took pictures and figured out there's an attached parking lot behind the coffee shop in question. A small entranceway leads off to the back, and sufficient parking there. When driving from the main road, you can take a right (and left into the lot) when you see Rare Bird's on your street-side. I did not know of this, and instead took a turn one street early; but that worked out well, as there's *another* lot there as well. Free 2-hour parking, just avoid the reserved spots and you should be good to go. Ambiance: 4/5 stars. A semi-grand, open seating (albeit in a sunny spot) near the storefront of the coffee shop. I've never sat here, but it appears packed most of the time I come here. There's also a secluded nook if you take a right from the entrance, which leads to a few tables and a calmer, more "relaxed" ambiance, likewise looking into the Main Street (see included photo). I haven't sat here, but I could easily see myself busting out my laptop along with a latte (maybe) and surfing the web on the coattails of the complementary wifi for a good while here, without anyone tapping you on the shoulder and reminding you it's about time to hit the road, you freeloader you. So far I've come here three or so times, all on weekend afternoons. My recommendation would be to come early(ish) and to check the store hours beforehand, as they do close earlier than expected at times. All in all, their lattes here are nothing to write home about, and I've certainly had better ones elsewhere, in more hole-in-the-wall places. The Cardamom Vanilla latte I had, which is supposed to be their crown jewel or some such, was rather lackluster to me and borderline mediocre, meaning it barely squeezed by in the taste test. So don't expect anyone to hit anything out the park, and you should be solid. Their ambiance is spot on, and I like the ample sunlight and cooled interior on summer days, provides a noteworthy respite. The FC Main Street is right outside, and I would highly recommend going for a stroll, maybe get some ice cream on the way at the nearby shop (same side of the street). All in all, solid ambiance, good palate-cleanser lattes, and try to manage expectations and you might very well end up pleasantly surprised.

Yelp
Best Cinnamon roll in town? I went to Rare Birds for the first time and had some high expectations bc of so many ppl talking about it! It was super cute inside and the place was fully packed with customers. I waited about 40+ minutes in line before hitting the pastry display case. I got their croissants, pain au chocolat, and delicious cinnamon roll! For drink I got their iced vanilla latte. I would skip out on the croissants next time bc they were a bit dry and tasteless. BUT their cinnamon roll is a Must-Try! It was super soft and fluffy, and their cream cheese frosting was delish! Their latte was too milky and I couldnt taste the vanilla at all :( I def plan on trying their food menu next time! Thanks!

Yelp
Large space and a modern aesthetic! For a Monday morning it was pretty busy. There was a line but it moves fast. Lots of pastry and breakfast sandwich options available. I got their strawberry almond croissant and an iced mocha. Both were good! Inside they have several plants for sale and even propagated second chance plants available as well which I loved. There's a good amount of seating available but most was taken; it's clearly a popular spot. There's a free parking lot in the back which is helpful too.
google avatar

Deb G.

Yelp
Bright, clean, modern looking coffee shop with a nice vibe. Lots of plants everywhere made it feel pretty homey. My butterscotch latte with oat milk was really nice, although I wished for a bit more coffee and a bit less oat milk. Not that find myself in Falls Church often, but I'd certainly come back here for good coffee if I did!
google avatar

Yelp
What a neat little Falls Church coffee shop! I've seen it many times in passing and finally got the chance to stop in. I got a freshly baked item and a cardamom vanilla latte, both were delicious. Maybe slightly pricey but gosh I don't think that is unusual these days anywhere . Nice seating and view in to the roaster which is pretty cool. Lots of great bakery items to choose from. Very family friendly and very very busy on this Saturday (next to Saturday farmers market). Parking can be challenging but a lot is around back. Friendly service. I took it down a star only because I thought the seating is okay, nothing special, the ambiance is okay (nothing cozy or unique) and the latte was very good but nothing like I gotta go back there for sure. Love supporting local businesses though and hope people would choose this over Starbucks any day!!!
google avatar

David M.

Yelp
Stopped in at Rare Bird to grab coffee and do a zoom meeting. This place can get very busy and they only had two people working behind the counter. There is plenty of space to find a table to work or study. I got an order of their latte and biscuit sandwich. I was very impressed with both. Really nice coffee shop and cafe that just needs help which can impact the service.
google avatar

Savannah L.

Yelp
This review is a long time coming, my husband and I come to Rare Bird almost every week. This coffee shop is unmatched in quality and ambiance, it's incredible place to sit and chill. I've come to work here remotely on weekdays before and it's great, every seat has access to a plug for charging and the wifi is strong. The coffee is top notch and they even roast their own beans in the back. I love their non-coffee drinks as well. The pastries....oh my god you guys run. You know a place has a quality baking program if they are whipping out fresh canelé everyday. They even make breakfast sandwiches fresh to order. If I'm not getting those I adore their ham and cheese croissant. On the weekends you have to get there early to get the full selection! They always sell out. They have rotating artist exhibitions and beautiful plants around as well.
google avatar

Ka L.

Yelp
The pastries are the best in the area and the barista is skilled. Also love their beans, on their subscription, but not sure I am astute enough to say the best. Ambience is great but does close relatively early. Service is good, friendly staff. Croissant - flaky crust and buttery inside. Bacon croissant - well... add bacon to the above... so all good if you like meat
google avatar

Daniel S.

Yelp
Really great coffee, food, and people. Cute spot. Just wish the beans were more affordable.
google avatar

Nick H.

Yelp
This cafe has been on my radar for a while; unfortunately, I never had a chance to visit due to my scheduling. Finally, today is the day. When I first walked in, it was just wonderful, the whole cafe was heavenly surrounded with fresh coffee scent. I had my go-to, vanilla latte and my wife had a honey matcha latte, both drinks came out perfectly. The coffee bean they used for espresso was a bit too light/weak in my opinion, but it was just a personal preference I guess. Oh, can't forget the beef pie, it was so good that my wife devoured it. I only had one tiny piece of leftover :( Overall, we had a good run and I'll make time to revisit.
google avatar

Nita M.

Yelp
This place has great coffee and food! I had an iced chai latte and bacon, egg and cheese biscuit. The cinnamon rolls are also quite good. Perfect spot to catch up with friends or work/read. The service was friendly but orders can take a while on the weekend as it is a popular spot!
google avatar

Yan W.

Yelp
Very delicious coffee. I enjoyed the Cardamon vanilla latte. I like the fact they offer whole beans as well. It's a little on the pricey side but worth it. Parking is in the back.

Kathleen K.

Yelp
Quiet atmosphere on a weekday morning with a few other folks working or chatting quietly. If you're looking for a place to work or study, this is it! I enjoyed the pour over coffee which is only available on weekdays unfortunately. Their mocha isn't my favorite but the chocolate is well mixed in (no chocolate clumps) compared to other cafes. (First visit)
google avatar

LeAnn F.

Yelp
I love this cute place in downtown falls church. They got free parking in the back. There's plenty of seating here indoors and outdoors. It's very quaint in here and a lot of plants to boost your energy. The staff makes the drinks pretty quickly. I got the iced horchata latte which definitely got that cinnamon taste. I would recommend they find a way to make this with plant based milk. I just wish they stayed up later. I would definitely come back here!
google avatar

Zack G.

Yelp
Bright and open coffee shop with delicious coffee! Have a wide variety of options, and have a small menu of hot food and pastries as well The space has a fair amount of seating, but it is all in either a both that runs along the wall or stools
google avatar

Anye S.

Yelp
Actual rating is about 3.5 but rounding up to be nice since some people probably come just to pick up coffee, but if you want a "sit in" experience, it's lacking. Basically, the coffee was fine and the staff was very nice, I love the "look" of the place and how bright it is. But, it has a big problem that would probably keep me personally from coming back - the seating sucks donkey balls. There were a few 4 person tables that had chairs with backs, all taken up by a single person with a laptop. The rest of the seating is high-top bar stools with no backs. I'm almost 50 and have neck problems. I had an hour and a half I needed to kill before picking my friend's kid up from school (her hubby was having surgery), it was anomalously hot outside, and so I was a captive audience but it was super uncomfortable. They have a big space but it's very inefficient to seat lots of people and they attracted a crowd this Weds. afternoon. They need to swap out the 4 person tables for 2 person tables (people can pull them together if they need a group) and get some chairs that are comfortable for more than 10 minutes. If you're going to make the effort to have a pretty ambience then be situated to seat people comfortably. If you want people to GTFO then why bother renting such a big space and making it so pretty? Anyway, my recommendation is it's fine if you're picking up but don't plan to sit here comfortably for any length of time.

Yelp
Highly recommend this coffee shop. I always try out a new coffee shop on the weekends. This location was super busy and parking was difficult but it was Saturday so to be expected. The food looked great, especially the croissant and pastries. I liked that there were unique coffee flavors. I ordered a butterscotch latte, which was the perfect hint of sweet. I love mildly sweet with undertones of flavor (I want to be able to taste the coffee and not be hit with sugar) which is exactly what I got. They had a strawberry latte that I wanted to try but they were already sold out at 10:30am. I will have to come back for one! There is plenty of seating for single and groups. They also have outlets for charging and bathrooms for customers. The shop has large windows to let the light in and propagations of greenery everywhere. I will definitely be back to try out more items on the menu!
google avatar

Maddi K.

Yelp
The iced vanilla latte changed my life. The food was also amazing! Wish I lived closer so I could enjoy more.
google avatar

Yelp
This is the best coffee ever! The food items are delicious, unique and change with the seasons. And of course, the baristas are awesome! I go every day!
google avatar

MP G.

Yelp
I'm here at least twice a week, lots of seating options to work from, strong wifi, great espresso drinks and just had a breakfast biscuit sandwich for the first time today. It was very good! Great people and service and good juxtaposition to the Northside Social next door which is a little more busy and "social" - this place is a lot more of a chill laid back ambiance.

Katie M.

Yelp
Rare bird is the best coffee shop in falls church! Their ham and cheese croissant was the best I've ever had
google avatar

David M.

Yelp
A small group of us attended a private "basics of espresso" class held at Rare Bird. The class itself was awesome. The instructor, Marco, was very informative and ran the group well. We got into the chemistry of espresso, learned the process of pulling a shot, got to practice on one of their machines, and then even learned the basics of latte art. 10/10, would attend again. We started afterwards to enjoy drinks and some pastries. The coffee was great, as expected. The egg biscuit sandwich blew my socks off though. So damn good. We aren't in Falls Church often, but we'll be back next time we are in the area.

Yelp
Always a great experience. Sometimes the line gets long though with only three people behind the counter, but always worth the wait. Iced Vanilla Latte with Oat Milk is the way to go!

Carrie D.

Yelp
Good cup of coffee and excellent morning bread! One of the few places with Kouign Ammans.

Yelp
Great cappuccino, very comfortable atmosphere, helpful servers. Looking forward to another visit soon.

Yelp
40 minutes to get 3 breakfast sandwiches! Really wanted to like this place and was excited to try it after seeing it so busy. That is part of the problem... Review is really only for the service/wait time and to set expectations for other customers. Came on a Sunday morning around 8am for some breakfast sandwiches. Only two people were working, with one of them taking orders, this makes service excruciatingly slow. We waited over 40 mins for 3 egg and cheese breakfast sandwiches, a slice of quiche and a curry hand pie. It got so bad we tried to cancel our order at 30 mins and were told our order had been started and so they couldn't refund. 15 minutes later we finally walked out with our food. The overall attitude was sort of, it is what it is. eh, just wish I knew ahead of time. Food overall was solid and the vibe of the restaurant is very chill/relaxing. I can see the appeal if you have the luxury to just hang out and savor your morning (not really our phase in life right now with three young ones). Line was really long by the time we left and most folks seemed really satisfied so I think maybe this is the norm? With so many awesome breakfast options in the area, the 45 minute wait for food is not worth it. Again, we didn't get coffee and obviously that might be the draw for most people. Waiting there, I just wish I had seen a review that set expectations - so here it is. Take it for what it's worth. Maybe they were shortstaffed today but based on the general lack of concern when I inquired about our order, seems like this is how it is here. Based on this experience, won't be back anytime soon -

Yelp
Met a friend for coffee and we found this cute little shop on Yelp and decided to give it a try. The coffee shop was bustling on a Saturday afternoon, but the line moved pretty quickly and there was still plenty of seating inside. The interior is very clean and modern, with plenty of communal seating and a few separate tables. You can also go out the back and there's a small concrete area with some outdoor tables! The coffee was good and they also offer a decent selection of pastries/snacks, including a few GF options. I would definitely recommend stopping by here!

Yelp
I've been wanting to try this coffee shop for a while now - I keep driving by it all the time! There's a parking lot in the back with ample space. The shop itself is very cute - there's a bright, sunlit room where lots of people had their laptops out. There's free wifi! The area where the actual counter is is in the next room - the decor and vibe is cute and the shop itself is spacious. They have some good looking pastries like chocolate croissants, some savory croissants, and Kouign Amann. We tried the Kouign Amann and it was flaky and sweet! The coffee itself is a bit unremarkable though. My friend and I got a vanilla iced latte and a honey lavender latte. The espresso wasn't quite strong enough and it was a bit milky. Otherwise this place is super cute and it'd be a nice spot to hang out and read a book!

Yelp
Awesome coffee and tea selections. Recommend London Fog and a Cardamon coffee latte. The quiche is very good. Classic coffee shop.

Yelp
Can get busy on the weekends, nice places tend to do so. Great coffee and delicious treats.

Yelp
I have such a soft spot for Rare Bird. The drinks and pastries are a bit pricey, but they're such a nice treat. I've never tried a bad baked good here, and the kough amann is a particular favorite. I've also never had a bad drink, and everything can be customized. If you're into coffee itself, they have a sizable selection of different beans. But I always go with a latte--usually cardamom vanilla or matcha honey. Rare Bird is located right on the main drag in Falls Church. It's a great spot to stop by, then take your coffee for a stroll.

Yelp
Where to begin? The place is cute AF with lots of sunlight, plants, artwork, and seating. You can through some glass into their roasting area, which is cool. The tables and chairs are all super well made. Don't you hate a wobbly table? Definitely not an issue here. You could definitely stay awhile and get some work done. Free WIFI helps, too. I got the Honey Lavender Latte with two extra shots (quad). It was extremely good. Not too sweet and the perfect temperature. While waiting for your drinks, there is a decent little selection of items, like stickers, shirts, pour over equipment, etc. Saving the best for last, let's talk about their baked goods. The drinks are great but the bakery items are next level. The thumbprint cookie and the shortbread cookie were phenomenal. Buttery, crumbly, sweet, and just a touch of salt. Melt in your mouth perfection. Give that baker a raise!! I will come back often. Highly recommend!!

Yelp
Excellent coffee, Excellent baked goods, service is generally the pits. Only one barista to pull shots and froth. Maybe it's just a workflow thing. Wish they could fix that.
