LA County Won’t Institute Mask Mandate Due to Declining Hospitalizations | Eater LA

"In Santa Barbara, I find the new Rare Society outpost at 214 State Street showcasing Santa Maria-style grilling with a menu that includes dry-aged ribeyes, wagyu, and Santa Maria–style tri-tip alongside classics such as oysters Rockefeller, snow crab claws, Caesar salad, and seafood towers. I also note the signature family-style meat boards — the executive board and the associate — which rotate chef-selected cuts (including many of the restaurant’s 30-to-40-day dry-aged steaks) and arrive with housemade sauces presented on a custom-designed Lazy Susan." - Eater

Came here from LA for our honeymoon. Had a beautiful dinner with my wife here and boy… was the food and cuts of meat insanely good. Got a meat board and had a butter cake for dessert, which was to die for. The drinks from here are perfectly balanced with flavor and alcohol. Tara was out server she was very sweet and patient with us since it was our first time here. Very good spot for good cuts of meat and high end food.

I moved to SB 7 years ago from the south. The main thing I miss about back home is the delicious food. Honestly, this place has the best tasting food I have had since I've been in town. The portions were great and flavors were phenomenal. I truly believe I will have an extremely difficult time topping this experience.

Let me set you up... My birthday is 2/14, hubby and I missed our original reservations at a different spot. We found this gem on our way to Solvang. Address is 214, which I didn't realize til reading the menu. Menu is just enough to choose from. We started off with shrimp 🦐 cocktail, which was delicious. Then we ordered filet mignon, much tasty I must say. Whipped 🥔 potatoes which come in a cast iron little skillet. Asparagus were amazing and mushrooms 🍄 with the yolk mixed in were to die for. Those dinner rolls are a must. But the staff was so pleasant, we had the lights shut off due to the wind, but staff served us complimentary champagne 🥂 pear martini definitely got the edge off. Service was phenomenal and dessert was bananas foster cheesecake that was recommended. Note, make reservations, we were lucky to have been seated in the patio on Valentine's Day. Memorable dining experience to say the least.

Located in beautiful section of town, we sat outside and enjoyed chips and salsa. We had Margaritas and they were very good.

Stopped by for a drink before getting dinner next door at loquita. Cocktail was excellent. Only complaint was I’ve never paid $27 for a cocktail in my life. It was good, but not sure it was worth $10 mor than average. Whiskey sour was solid though. Recommend if money is of no concern.

My bestie and I are on vacation and we wanted a good steak, first time here and WOW!!! AMAZING Food, service was outstanding, vibe was so awesome with that retro calming vibe. Let's talk food... Started with the parkerhouse rolls, warm , garlicky butter flavor was great. If you get any side with your meal get the pickled onion rings and asparagus. The flavor was incredible. We also got the shrimp cocktail which the shrimp themselves were so fresh and delicious. Then we got the Wagu Denver , mouth watering delicious, tender and cooked to perfection. Oh and the cocktail, the Flying A Studio was fantastic. Everything was perfect , Thank you Rare Society

Yelp
Five stars all the way. We randomly walked by and decided to go in, and it turned out to be the best decision ever. We originally planned to sit outside but stayed at the bar because the vibes were too good and that was the right call. Our bartender, Derek, was absolutely phenomenal. Easily the best dirty martini I've ever had, and the espresso martini was just as good. We started with oysters and crudo, both fresh and beautifully prepared. Then Derek recommended the broccolini, Denver steak, and the whipped potatoes with lobster and wow. Every single dish was outstanding. The steak was cooked perfectly, the broccolini had incredible flavor, and those whipped lobster potatoes... I'm not exaggerating when I say they would be my last meal. So rich, so indulgent, so memorable. Amazing food, incredible service, and perfect bar vibes. We will absolutely be back.

Yelp
Overrated and a Big Flop This was our first trip to Santa Barbara, and we wanted to end our weekend with a great steakhouse dinner. Unfortunately, this spot missed the mark. We booked an outdoor table on OpenTable, then called to request indoor seating but never received a call back. When we arrived, the staff brushed off our request even though we later saw plenty of empty indoor booths. Our server was friendly, but the service overall was inattentive--especially disappointing for the prices here. The dry-aged steak was overpriced, dried out, and served with a blackened bone. The asparagus and mac 'n' cheese were tasty but overly salty. We enjoyed the Faust wine, but for the cost, having to pour it ourselves most of the night felt ridiculous. The final straw was the state of the women's restroom: one stall out of order, one without toilet paper or seat covers, and another clogged. It clearly isn't maintained well. Overall, this was a one-and-done experience for us. We won't be returning, and we can't recommend it. A huge letdown.

Yelp
Really wanted to like this place but the chef was heavy handed with the salt and overdressed everything we ordered. The tuna tartare was our favorite but also felt overly sauced. Wedge salad was so heavily dressed. It would have been perfect with less dressing. The burger and fries were so salty. We were guzzling water until bedtime. Service was nice. I was, however, put off when the hostess asked if we were just there for Happy Hour. I told her that we would like to consider the items on the regular menu as well. We were a party of 4 and they gave use ONE happy hour menu. Why offer happy hour if you're going to be weird about it?
google avatar

Lindsay W.

Yelp
Everyone in the group enjoyed a nice night out with a meat board, swordfish, and tons of appetizers and starters. We all loved the broccolini and wedge salad. Plus, we even agreed that we could just come for various vegetables and the onion rings without the meat. The service was great, and helped recommend options for each person. The s'mores birthday ice cream at the end was a winner along with sitting outside under the heater and people watching on a Saturday night. If there is one dish to try that you can't find in SB regularly, go for the lamb lollipops with chimichurri sauce.

Yelp
Appetizers (Tuna & rolls) were great Main course was cooked as ordered Wine was good. Cocktail had too much ice Service was stellar Desserts (banana cheese, chocolate cookie and the butter cake) all were amazing! The decor is classy and elegant

Yelp
Really happy I was able to finally try Rare Society as I've had them bookmarked for a while. Always love a steakhouse that has a happy hour menu so it seemed safe to venture in for a late afternoon snack and cocktail. Really enjoyed sitting at the bar. Nice views either of the kitchen or the main drag outside the window. The bar was clean and spacious, making it a great spot to converse and watch the cocktail magic. Our bartender and server was Kai who was absolutely lovely. I appreciate a bartender who is willing to chat, make recommendations and be a little silly (in a good professional banter way of course). Service felt very attentive and genuine. Was impressed and would say service and ambiance are easily 5 stars worthy. The team that works here all seemed very friendly and easy to talk to. I love when a steakhouse doesn't give off pretentious vibes and truly the vibes and service are immaculate here. Another bonus is that their cocktails and cold seafood options were stellar. My friend's classic martini and my amaretto sour were spot on! Well crafted drinks, perfectly boozy and balanced. Also I'm a sucker for a cold seafood tower and presentation was A+. We ordered a variety of oysters and their old bay cold shrimp cocktail which was beautifully plated for us. A showstopper for sure. I found the oyster and shrimp to be tasty. Primarily the reason I just can't give this spot a full five stars is the price point. For many they'll dine here and not give it a second thought but as a single income girly, spots like this are more of a treat and can't be on my regular rotation. I own it. While the quality and service was there, I still found it to be a bit pricy given some of the items we ordered were on happy hour menu. Essentially oysters, one shrimp cocktail and a cocktail a piece ran us a bill of $100+. While delicious, not filling or a full meal. I appreciate rare society for what they are. An elevated meal which at least has service and ambiance to back it up. I'm happy I tried them, had a good time, but there are more affordable spots for seafood and cocktails in the area.

Yelp
Unfortunately we only sat at the bar for drinks since we couldn't get reservations but just seeing the interior it is very modern, hip, dark and romantic. Being a steakhouse it is a on the pricier side just like drinks but the bartenders were talkative and creative. Great decor and drink selections with pairing offerings for your meal.

K L.

Yelp
It's a beautiful restaurant. The food looked good. We sat at the bar. The service was so poor we ended up canceling the food order and walking out. There was definitely some dynamic happening behind the bar. They were not happy to be there.

Yelp
Had a lovely experience here! My boyfriend and I had a reservation for about an hour before they close on a Monday. We were a little worried about coming in close to closing but the service was great. We were seated immediately and there were only a few other tables in there. Our server was very attentive, but we didn't feel rushed. He helped us make good decisions regarding what to order. Drinks were really good. I had the Wild Card which has red bell pepper, interesting concept but I was pleasantly surprised. Most of their drink options seem less sweet and more on the refreshing side. My favorite part were the appetizers. The Ahi Tuna Tartare was so fresh with great proportions. We also loved the Wood Grilled Lamb Lollipop. We ordered two, and they came together with the best Chimichurri sauce and a good amount of meat on the bone. My boyfriend had the 20oz NY Strip, and added the black truffle. So good and cooked to perfection. I had the Pacific Swordfish which came with a really nice sauce. Celebrating our anniversary, they brought us a complimentary drink. Was a really nice finishing touch. Overall pleasant experience! Definitely on the pricier side, but it was a great way to celebrate.

Yelp
Really good tasting food, great service! Only issue was that we waited for our leftover food to get boxed & it took a good 15 minutes without anyone mentioning anything to us even after we paid and were ready to go (while the table that asked to get their food boxed up after us had their food already) Apparently no one knew what happened to our leftovers but they made it right by making us a new plate. Did take some time tho had to wait like 30 min. Luckily we were in no rush. Would def recommend, food was so bomb!!
google avatar

Yelp
We were looking for a pitstop, and we came here for Monday happy hour. Great spot for anyone looking to enjoy an upscale feeling experience. The place looks modern and gold-accented sleek, with a touch of dark, wooden charm that makes it a little sophisticated. The menu focuses on premium cuts of steak, but we're here for the oysters with cocktails to spice up the night. We ordered the signature burger to make sure we got full, and it definitely rounded up the meal. The service was great with friendly staff, and the location is convenient to walk from wine tasting at the Funk Zone!
google avatar

Mandy M.

Yelp
From the minute, we sat down until we left our bartender/server Kai gave us outstanding, over the top service. He was extremely knowledgeable about the entire menu and genuinely enjoyed talking with us. We ordered steak, a wedge salad, and the salmon. All tasted delicious. I would go back just to have the experience with Kai again! Sit at the bar! You won't be disappointed.

Kathleen L.

Yelp
The most expensive meal I had in Santa Barbara and it was the worst. Hostess were not friendly and they said they had no open tables (probably discriminating because I was alone). Steak was charred, only ate a few bites and booked it. Would never return or recommend

Yelp
Ambiance - for how fancy the inside was, I was kinda expecting better vibes for sitting outside but maybe we went on an off day? It just wasn't lit up too well when we went and had a completely different vibe inside vs out. If I went again I would do indoor seating! Service - our server was nice. She was prompt enough and answered our questions with enthusiasm. Nothing went wrong there! Food - I forget what steak I got (most likely the filet mignon) but it was really good! They cooked it really well and it was seasoned to perfection. The cocktails there were delicious too! I we got like 6 of them and all were good

Yelp
Came here on my birthday, this is more of my husband's style of food- and though I rarely eat steak or beef- it was a pleasant surprise. We started off with the Parker house rolls which were just ooh la la!! (Secret tip - keep ordering garlic rolls - it's really all you need :-)) We got the Lamb lollipop as well - - and that was splendid! Melt in the mouth. We then got the Executive Board which was the piece de resistence - bae was in heaven and I couldn't argue with how luscious the meat and taste was. For dessert, we got the Creme brulee and I got a birthday scoop :topped with a smore - yummo! Since it was my birthday, I had 2 glasses of wine (and why not) Margerum - Red blend to start with and then the Syrah from Beckman Vineyards (ding ding ding - winner!)

Yelp
Sat at the bar with my family on a thursday night. Was immediately greeted with a warm welcome. Such a nice place to come and have a nice steak or appetizers. The bartenders that night were amazing and did a phenomenal job taking care of my family. Had great talks and suggestions. Overall an amazing experience!

Yelp
Ambiance is beautiful. However, the food I wanted to enjoy so badly missed the mark. I'm from Chicago so the familiar apps entrees and desserts I was looking forward to paled in comparison... it had me yearning for an authentic steakhouse meal. Service was kind and helpful. Personally, not worth a second visit for us...
google avatar

Nijole T.

Yelp
We enjoyed an absolutely beautiful dinner here! They also have a really great happy hour at the bar and outside. Beautiful restaurant with plenty of seating inside as well as out. There's easy parking in the area, a short walk from downtown Santa Barbara. Service was wonderful, they are so friendly and welcoming here. My husband love his steakand we enjoyed our cocktails as well. Great option if you are looking for a romantic date night or a fun night out with friends.
google avatar

Yelp
Made a reservation for a party of 10. Maybe not the best idea for a steak house, but they did accommodate us and had table ready at set time. We ordered drinks, and that is my one knock on my rating. The mixed drinks we're on the weaker side and small portion, I get it it's not a bar, but the drinks did taste great. The service was excellent all was asking if we needed anything else. We all had a variety of meat cuts and every single cut was amazing! The food was delicious and will definitely be back. But maybe as a party of two.
google avatar

Paula T.

Yelp
I'm so happy this restaurant exists in Santa Barbara. I think this is the best steakhouse and also one of my favorite restaurants to go to in town. I really enjoy seeing people dress up here instead of your typical Santa Barbara style. I've really never had a bad meal here. My go to's are always an item on the raw bar, the ricotta ravioli, the best Mac and cheese, and the over dressed cheesy steakhouse kind of Caesar salad. We got the Denver steak last night it and was SO GOOD. The service is always on point and I always have the best time.
google avatar

Jorge H.

Yelp
This was our second visit, and once again, the food was great. We enjoy trying different dishes each time, and everything was just as delicious as during our first visit. While the service started off a bit slow, it improved as the evening went on. Overall, it was a wonderful dining experience.
google avatar

Shawn H.

Yelp
The place was very clean. The bartender was very knowledgeable about the menu and recommended some excellent dishes on the menu. The steak was awesome, the mash potatoes with lobster were good and the carrots were delicious.
google avatar

Daniel L.

Yelp
Let's start, we arrived at 635 and were seated immediately, they brought us water right away and asked if we wanted drinks. We had our order taken immediately and they were ever quick to refill our water glasses. Apps came out quickly hot and delicious, we had dry aged meatballs that were delicious! A few minutes later our main dishes came out and they were delicious! The mashed potatoes were nice and creamy, the carrots were sweet and delicious, and the Mac and cheese was the perfect amount of cheesiness! But the main event was the steak, 40 day dry aged New York with bone in was so good and buttery it made the meal so good! Anyways I'd recommend this place to anyone that wants so really good food and great service!
google avatar

Bella S.

Yelp
I am giving this place a 4.5 star out of 5; 5 stars for the food and 4 stars for the doh doh service. The quality of food here is superb. However, service needs some work. Staff were friendly, but they made quite a few mistakes. For example, when we wanted to order Brussel sprouts, our waiter told us it's only on the Happy Hour menu and that he recommends their asparagus, which "is just as good." But we were more in the mood for potatoes, so we ordered the potato au gratin. He then asked what type of potatoes "whipped or scalloped?" We chose scalloped with black truffles and he even acknowledged by saying, "you got it." Then ASPARAGUS arrived at our table. The second issue was our water was Peligrino (Sparkling) water. A waitress came to try to "refill" our water and started to fill the glass with regular tap water after failing to see the large glass Pelegrino bottle on the table. We then told her it's Pelegrino and she stopped so abruptly, spilling water all over the table. I then went to the restroom to get cleaned up only to find out that they ran of toilet paper. At least the soap smelled nice. As for the food... 1. Parker House Roll (4/5): It was doughy, airy, buttery, garlicky and parsley. It was served in a nice cast iron skillet. Minus 1 star because we did not taste the truffle in the butter. 2. Asparagus (5/5) Although, we did not order it, we ate the while thing nonetheless. It was cooked to perfection. Crispy yet not overcooked or oakey. The seasoning was very good- mix of spring onion vinaigrette, xo mayo, and crunchy garlic bits. 3. Roasted Mushrooms (3/5): Rubbery, and under-seasoned. The egg yolk added a nice creaminess, but otherwise, we couldn't taste the garlic or thyme. 4. The Associate Board (5/5) 3 cuts of meat that varies each day, based on the chef and meat availability. -Wagyu Tri-tip -Filet Mignon -Dutch beef (or something like that??) Our favorites were the Dutch beef cut and the filet mignon as they were very tender and flavorful even without the sauces. The sauces are all housemade - salsa, some citrus mayo dip, and the 3rd sauce was some mix of ponzu-miso (tart like sauce). It also came with a side of bone marrow for extra fat. There was also garlic butter, but we did both use it. Additional training for the staff would be good, otherwise, food was great and worth the price.

Yelp
The food is absolutely to die for! The best steak I've ever had! The service is high quality and the food is top tier!

Yelp
Rare Society is a very special restaurant. The ambiance is upscale and inviting. We were a group of seven celebrating a UCSB graduation. Our server(whose name I don't recall) was awesome and was helpful in helping with entree selections. Four chose the delicious filet mignon grilled over oak while the remainder had the king salmon. The large seafood tower was shared family style and was a real hit. Other sides served family style included Parker House rolls, whipped potatoes and wood fired broccolini which were all A+. This steakhouse is as good as any in Los Angeles. When in Santa Barbara, give it a try.
google avatar

Joshua G.

Yelp
Really enjoyed our meal here celebrating my wife starting a new job. Grilled Artichoke was a great starter. Had the wagyu Denver and had a dry aged rib eye which were both amazing. I missed photos of the sides, but we had the grilled broccolini and potatoes au gratin, also both delicious. Server Trevor was really good with answering all out our questions and they really nailed all the details all the way down to making sure that our water was always full. I also like what they did with the space, I hadn't been there since it was Union Ale. It was a funky space then but they did a good kit reconfiguring it and turning it into a really nice restaurant. I definitely will return for another special occasion!

Yelp
Wow, this place is amazing. Sure it is on the more expensive end, but the food quality really speaks for that. Their menu is pretty expansive and has a lot of options for everyone. The steaks were absolutely incredible, and I LOVED their pickled onion rings. I think that's the first time I've ever had it before. It was amazing, and their ice cream is homemade. Win Win!
google avatar

Areial R.

Yelp
I reviewed this place two months ago and I just had to comeback and give an update. We came here to enjoy some great food and drinks and again we were spoiled with delicious food and amazing customer service. Trevor provided exceptional customer service and made our experience more enjoyable! The rare society signature burger is to die for and the margaritas with sugar on the rim.

Yelp
We've enjoyed Rare Society many times before, but this time we sat in the bar. To begin with, it's a very cool room. Like a hip NYC speak easy. Service was spectacular, with special thanks to our culinary guide and bartender Derek. Had the best Old Fashion ever and sampled a bunch of small plates with Derek's guidance. Hard to pick a fav, but the lamb chops were incredible. Note to the owners: Enlarge the bar, build a small stage and make it a live music venue. SB is in desperate need.
google avatar

Joe M.

Yelp
Great food amazing staff very nice ambiance... and the drinks were so good I forgot to take photos of all of this. Sorry... but it's a must visit when in town.

Yelp
Phenomenal! Levi's recommendation on point! The decor, ambiance and food was great! The lightening and decor were classy, slik and dim lightening! The Parker house rolls melted in your mouth and the lamb chops tender and juicy. The associate has a combination of wagyu beef, which was a perfect combination of different flavors! Levi was excellent in every way possible. Attentive and provided some excellent recommendations!

Yelp
This review is specifically for happy hour, but I do intend on coming back for dinner. Happy Hour is offered on Wednesday - Monday from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. and provides a delightful experience with its open, airy and vibrant atmosphere around the bar area. There is limited seating and it's first come first serve, so be sure to arrive earlier than later! The HH menu includes a diverse selection of discounted drinks and appetizers. The well-crafted cocktails and appetizers make it an ideal spot to unwind after a long day or just hanging out with friends. On my visit, I decided to start with the wood fired pineapple margarita. This cocktail was so refreshing and good! Although, I was expecting a little hint of the wood fire to come through, but it didn't have any trace of it. Nonetheless, it's still a nice drink if you like margaritas and pineapple. I took a little detour off the HH menu and my second drink of choice, was the martini espresso. Instead of vodka, it was made with tequila which was a game changer! I don't care for vodka, so I was glad the waitress recommended trying it with tequila instead. It was so good I ordered two rounds! For appetizers, me and my friends ordered a variety of things to try and share. We had the grilled artichoke, wagyu asada fries, rare society signature burger, and the ahi tuna tartare. Everything was delicious! I especially enjoyed the grilled artichoke with the chipotle aioli dipping sauce. The wagyu asada fries were filling and the meat was really tender. Our server Ingrid was not only attentive and friendly, but she really made the best espresso martini I've ever tried. So cheers to Ingrid! Overall, I'm glad I could finally check out happy hour here at rare society, and the wallet-friendly prices make this place a go to destination for those seeking a great time without breaking the bank!

Yelp
We made reservations for dinner & were seated right away. The restaurant is upscale but not stuffy; decor is sleek & modern with dark & sexy vibes. Service was spectacular! Staff kept our water full, drinks flowing, & answered our questions regarding the menu. 10/10 - Parker House Rolls: they came out hot, airy, & so buttery; make sure to ask for extra truffle butter, it's delicious. 10/10 - Wood Grilled Lamb Lollipops: these were so tender & seasoned very well; the sauce was great to have on each bite. Order more than 1, it's worth it! 10/10 - Bacon: this was sweet, sticky, & tangy; very tender too & had a good meat to fat ratio. 10/10 - Pickled Fried Onion Rings: very crispy & fried nicely; the tanginess of the pickle tasted great against the fried batter. 10/10 - Whipped Potatoes: these were absolute fire & another must order! 10/10 - Butter Cake: we didn't leave room for dessert but made sure to grab this to-go; it's buttery, just sweet enough & tasty to the last crumb. 9/10 - The Executive Board: for our group of 4, this was more than enough meat for all of us, plus we had extra to take to-go; all the different meats were cooked perfectly & different sauces paired well. 8/10 - Shell Mac: it was pretty sour compared to what we've had before so it wasn't as good; but when made well, these are tasty.

Yelp
Drove up from Ventura County as this place was highly recommended by another steak lover . I can say it's a 3.5 in my opinion. My socks were not blown off but it was good. Beautiful restaurant. Loved the plastic gold tiles all around and the color scheme . Service was great. We were enjoying our dinner until a very loud group of more than 8 sat right next to us. The entire restaurant was empty but they had to be seated there. We couldn't even have a conversation, so it ruined our dining experience. We left soon after they arrived.

Yelp
Oh no! I'm so bummed. I was looking forward to eating here. Most items were a miss. And if I knew the steak was smoky I wouldn't have come. I don't like smoky flavor at all. The steak came out cold and flavorless. I wanted to ask for salt but didn't want to insult the chef. I've never had fried chicken that bad. Zero flavor and a lot of oil smell and taste. The breading was extremely thick hard to eat. The oil smell was so bad we could smell it from the table next to us. Before ours came out. And I'm not talking about delicious oil smell either. The sides were super small. The whipped mashed potato was weird too. Again, no flavor. Tuna tartar was all avacado and very little tuna. Only twi items we liked were the thick bacon and grilled artichoke. Staff was wonderful, except they did something at the end that was disappointing. Which was the young food runner, busboys fault. Hopefully he'll be coached to do better. I'm spooked how bad it turned out. At least we tried it.

Yelp
Came in to grab a quick bite and a drink for happy hour. The bar is upscale and inviting. My wife had a dirty martini, and I had the old fashioned. We specifically came in to try their steak tartar. Mark the chef was gracious enough to prepare one for us even though it wasn't on the HH menu and dinner didn't start for an hour. It was out of this world delicious! A completely different take of a steak tartar and he knocked it out of the park!! Had the shrimp as well and it was fantastic!
google avatar

Elaine D.

Yelp
Wanted raw oysters so looked up happy hour oyster specials. This place came up but only on Mondays so we waited a couple days until Monday. When we arrived just before 4pm, there was a line which we found out later that we were lucky it was so short. We were seated at the bar and first impressions were WOW! This place is nice! Staff was very attentive and pleasant. We ordered 11/2 dozen fresh oysters which came out quickly and were so fresh with plenty of mignonette and horseradish sauce. Had the Ahi tartar (loved) Beef Skewers (loved) Meatballs Were good but too salty for our taste. The drinks on happy hour were awesome, we had the old fashioned which were really good. Everyone around us were ordering the burger which looked so good but we were full. Next time I will skip the meatballs and go for the burger. We looked at the dinner menu and it looked so good, lots of options a little pricey but I feel like the quality of the food would justify it. We will be back

Yelp
Overall, I really like this place. It's classy, the setting appears special. Im not a steak person but I liked everything else. I tried the steak and the Denver wagyu was moist and delicious. The price is a little bit more reasonable than luckys. The butter cake is one of the best I've had. They deconstructed it for us and was a cross between a vanilla cake and cornbread in a bed of vanilla cream. the sour cream ice cream was so creamy and a large portion which I appreciated. The artichoke, with aioli one of the best I've had. Mac & cheese had a perfect flavor and texture and stretchy cheese. Parker rolls truffle butter yum. Overall lovely dining experience for a special evening out.

Yelp
We had a 21st birthday celebration here, a decision based on our previous great experience. Our server was Tony M, and his table assistant was Julio. This dynamic duo kept us super happy with great service and delicious food. Julio was ON IT when it came to the need for more water, or the removal of dirty plates. Tony, thanks for helping make this a memorable evening. Let me start with this, the food is always amazing, no matter what you get. See my past review for additional item details. This time around we tried some new things, starting with the petite seafood tower, ahhhh so good, all aspects of this were scrumptious. Their oysters are super tasty and come with all the expected accoutrements to dress your oyster exactly how you like it. A+ grade. Another side which I really enjoyed was the truffled cream spinach, another A+ grade. A crowd pleaser was the lobster mashed potatoes, A grade. Rare Society is a delicious treat, I already look forward to my next visit.

Yelp
I've heard great things about this place and was excited to get a group together to come try out their boards! Upon walking in it was very dim and vibey. It felt like a Vegas restaurant I love the decor. We made a reservation for 7 and to secure it, it was a $10 a person deposit. We sat down and immediately were given bad news. We had a plan of what we were going to get and they were out of a couple of those things. We opted to choose two of the associate boards since they only feed about four people and the waitress told us that they were out of the boards and could not recreate it. Not sure how you could be out of one of your main sellers and not make any accommodations. She then proceeded to tell us they were out of tri tip as well. If you're out of something and see a large party coming that should be disclosed at the door. With this curve ball we had to order the executive board and add more meats on it which was significantly more expensive for not as much food and decent meat we were not happy at all. We ordered sides including the truffle creamed spinach, no truffle tasted, the lobster mashed potatoes, which were like soup but had some decent chunks of lobster, Mac and cheese was meh, the bacon-definitely worth getting. We also ordered two bottles of wine about $70 a pop. We are all wine members I'd say bring your own and pay the corkage fee. For $600 definitely not worth it-left super disappointed!

Yelp
Enjoyed a birthday dinner here recently. Reservation was easy however for a Wednesday night it was not needed. Sat in the patio since we brought dogs and they were welcomed with a water bowl and attention. Service was incredible and attentive. Hosted ensured we had water, the gentlemen dressed in a suit took my bar order and checked up on us, and the server was prompt and courtesy. Food was presented well and everything we ate was great. They even gave me a complimentary dessert with a candle for my birthday. The indoor dining room was an almost furturistic look with booth seating in the center with tables on either side of those. The lighting was like multiple ring lights acting as accents to the decor. Great date night spot. I didn't try any of the seafood but will next time.

Yelp
My boyfriend loves steak and surprised me with a date here -- he was so excited to show me, and now I totally understand why. It's definitely on the pricier side, but absolutely worth it. The steak was cooked perfectly, and the sides were unbelievably good. Honestly, just writing this review is making me want to book another reservation -- I'm already missing how delicious everything was!

Yelp
Tried them out the last visit to Santa Barbara and we're pleasantly surprised. Made it there in time for happy hour. Most of the menu isn't available except for a few items and you can only sit in the patio or in the bar so we opted for the patio. We ordered a few appetizers to start, and where they incredible! Had an order of the oysters and really, they were oysters, but fresh and tasty 5/5. Had the grilled artichoke and again it's not a joke, but grilled to perfection and seasoned beautifully and another 5/5. Can't remember the name of the shrimp but it had this Cajun style seasoning on it and also 5/5. Also opted to get the steak tartare. Only complaint was that it came with potato chips, not really our thing so because of that 4/5. We ended up getting a few entrées. We got the lamb chops and steak in both cooked to order and again seasoned to perfection. Finished off with a butter cake, which was decadent and flavorful and again 5/5. Our waitress was amazing and eager to help and give recommendations. Definitely appreciated the level of service and attention. Didn't get to see the inside much, but the patio is right on state street and the weather is always nice so the ambience is definitely one to enjoy.

Yelp
We thoroughly enjoyed every part of our visit here! Would probably give a 4.5* if I could but bumped up to a 5* cause I really don't have anything bad to say about our experience eating here.. Went for happy hour but stayed long enough to order from the regular menu as well cause there was 2 things we had to try. Overall, the happy hour was totally worth the money, taste, quality and portion size. It wasn't busy at all when we went right when they opened but the service was good and not over bearing either. It's a beautiful restaurant too, nice patio and inside seating looks really nice. The sprouts were fantastic!! Good size for price, touch spicy, crispy, hot, salty. The burger and fries were delicious too! Really flavorful, awesome onion jam, good quality beef and tangy cheese on it + fresh hot fries. Mac N Cheese was excellent and I could eat a bucket of that. Different cheese used that other places which sets it apart. The rolls was suuuper light, buttery and fluffy too. The meatballs were good but the dish I enjoyed least. Definitely not bad but probably the only thing I personally wouldn't order again. We had some excellent pineapple margaritas too for happy hour! I'd absolutely go back and get happy hour again, that was well worth it. I'd be more hesitant to go for the full menu as it is pretty pricey so keep that in mind. I like doing steaks at home anyways so would probably stick to happy hour...

Yelp
Great Steaks! The Filet Mignon was cooked to perfection! So delicious with the Mac n cheese and asparagus. Service was excellent. Really enjoyed the ambiance as well as the company throughout! If you have not been... go have yourself a great dry aged steak and martini or tall glass of wine. So Gooooood!

Yelp
The sides were the highlight of our meal. The staff was pushing a platter with wagyu pieces but we decided on a bone in steak which came out overcooked. Not impressed for the price. Wasn't a good vibe inside either. Trying to go for a club feel or something.

Yelp
Rare Society Happy Hour! Amy C and I decided to check out the HR at RS. We were greeted by Derrick, who immediately set us up. I decided on an Italian red wine and the meatball appetizer. Amy chose a Margarita and the Brussel sprouts. The atmosphere and ambiance were perfect for a relaxing gray afternoon. Derrick was very attentive and added to the atmosphere with his easy conversation. After a couple of drinks and the tasty appetizers we were having a Great time catching up with our lives. What a wonderful afternoon. Thanks Rare Society. Thanks Derrick and everyone who was apart this wonderful group of Restaurant professionals Ronnie S
