Yelp
The quick version: Comes off as a cool-looking joint but the service, demeanor, and professionalism for the price you're paying fall incredibly short of being even remotely adequate.
Full Version:
A buddy and I were wanting a night out and I love hitting up speakeasy-type establishments or creative bars in the Hollywood area. Saw Raspoutine and thought, "Looks great, let's check it out". We arrived and informed them that we wanted to buy bottle service and we were walked to our table and greeted by the manager Yohan, who initially came off as very nice and welcoming (this would change). Immediately after being seated and choosing our first bottle (we bought two), one of the workers told my buddy that he had to remove his hat as they weren't allowed in the establishment. We were fairly dressed up otherwise and it wasn't an eyesore but I digress, people will differ in how they feel about dress code requirements. The night went fairly well for the most part as we were socializing with the mixed crowd which is generally older gentlemen and younger women. That seems to be the general vibe of the location. Anyhow, after we bought the second bottle (as the prices listed on the menu seemed reasonable - however we were not handed the menu, it was merely flashed in our face and a flashlight shown on the bottles alone - not any fine print listed very discreetly on an odd part of the menu, which we'd have seen if we were able to hold the menu ourselves. I can't help but think there was a reason for this given the following information.) we requested the check. To our surprise, there was an astronomical house fee along with included gratuity, neither of which was mentioned beforehand. Side note, I have general issues with bottle service pricing around LA always including a 20% gratuity but that is what it is. However, you don't usually see a large house fee at all establishments. Anyhow, we paid of course but felt as though the gratuity was more than sufficient. They weren't very attentive to the tables, the crowd wasn't crazy, service was fairly standard compared to other establishments if not a bit less attentive. Now, this is where it gets interesting. The server immediately started becoming confrontational at no additional tip be included (mind you it was already on the tab - standard in the area) and I politely explained my reasoning for leaving it at the 20%, which I feel as though I shouldn't even have to do in the first place. Anyhow, we left and before grabbing an uber I realized I hadn't taken a copy of the receipt, which I always take along with me or snag a picture, so I went to knock on the door to ask for the copy right quick. The doorman slams the door in my face, and this was immediately after just leaving the establishment. Then Yohan (the manager) comes out to give me the receipt but proceeded to try and negotiate an additional tip than what was already included. Literally followed me to our uber with his Venmo account open on his phone continuously grilling me for more money than we already just spent in that location (well over $1k). I've never seen anything like it to be honest. I'll end this with a quick reminder that 1. tip was included, and 2. service was sub-par in the first place. There was no reason to chase guests to their vehicles while leaving and demanding more money. Insane to me, and will not return. The place has potential but the management is its ultimate downfall.
If you're going for bottle service, don't. If you're going for a couple of drinks .... use your best judgment. Best of luck Yelpers.
