I've stopped at Raul's many times now, mainly to sip on a margarita on nights when I need to go grocery shopping, but the Fred Meyers across the way is packed and I want let the heavy traffic die down before I go in.
The drinks here are decent.. fruity and foo-foo, if that's your style. The quality of service here is very iffy and seems to vary each day.
On my last visit, I ordered, "your most basic, top-shelf margarita", to which the server replied, "I got you" and proceeded to bring out a $20 (which I only learned the price of after the check arrived) disgustingly sugary margarita that included a mini flag, a light-up shot class and fruits.. basically the most expensive drink on the menu and the total opposite of what I wanted.
This most recent visit was also the 2nd time I've ordered actual food (to go) from them, specifically off their vegetarian menu and the 2nd time I've unintentionally ate meat in the last 23 years of being vegetarian. I pointed at the exact item on the menu and repeated the name of the vegetarian enchiladas I wanted and stupidly went home without looking, assuming they made it correctly.
When I was home a few hours later, I reheated my food and eagerly took several bites before I realized I just ate chicken.
This maybe a too graphic for some (so skip the next line), but I tried to throw it up and was unable to... extremely upsetting for me. I should have noticed the error, but at the same time (as a former chef, myself), I'm really over the recent uptick in restaurants overlooking the basic requests of their customer, despite raising their prices.
I'm a lifelong vegetarian, partly because I'm allergic to certain meats and mainly because I don't want to eat animals. Maybe that's laughable to some that I unintentionally ate meat, but it's truly devastating to me.
I'm never coming back here again, because I only want to pay well for service I can trust.
That being said, everyone's experience is different, so go ahead and try it out for yourself, if you'd like.
