Yelp
RavenHook Bakehouse is a D.C. bakery that offers various European-style breads and pastries, usually found in farmers markets.
I came across their stall at the Union Market, and I knew that from checking out their spreads, I had to pick some up!
You can find various breads (baguette, asiago, challah, ciabatta, crostini, focaccia, harvest grain, jalapeno cheddar, multigrain, seeded rye, whole wheat sourdough, olive bread, pain de campagne, Portuguese sweet hamburger buns, raisin pecan, rosemary sourdough, Russian black bread, rustic Italian boule, sourdough miche, etc.), sweets (bread pudding, coffee cakes, cookies, cornbread, English scones, macaroons, tea breads, pound cakes, cobblers, and jam bars), honey, peanut butter, jam, and seasonal/holiday specials.
I purchased a gingerbread cookie, a filled brioche cupcake, a sour cherry scone, and a set of Procrastination cookies. The gingerbread cookie had a funny taste to it; the brioche filling was chocolate-y and was interesting with the crumbled candy cane bits, but the brioche was a little dry; there could have been more cherries in the scone; and, the Procrastination cookies were oat-y and chewy, and tasted super healthy.
Staff was friendly, and I think I would like to check out their loaves the next time.
