The Best Breweries in Seattle | Eater Seattle

"We don’t talk about Ravenna Brewing nearly often enough. This family-run brewery opened in 2016 and has quietly grown to have a huge local following with their beers on bar taps around the city, winning multiple Washington Beer Awards medals in the process. Wander up to the bar (and depending on which entrance you take, it will take some wandering) for a lineup of sours, different kinds of pale ales, a lager or two, and some darker fare as well as hop water. It’s almost impossible to go wrong, but if you really want to explore, try a sour like the Moonlit Flora. Dry fermented with cranberry and orange, it’s a tangy, balanced explanation of why Ravenna’s the real deal." - Brianna Gunter

I had the pleasure to photograph a intimate wedding at Ravena Brewing recently. It was such a fun space for a wedding and has a cool industrial vibe to the space. Highly recommend if you are looking for unique wedding venues!

Google
This has been a go to spot for years. Quality is always there. Good beers, good selection and an overall nice spot! Cozy spaces inside and a large outdoor patio. They have an event space too for private parties in their barrel room. Dog and child friendly too!

Matt Gilbreath

Google
Great space with plenty of seating indoor and out. Beers and service were stellar! Food truck was amazing. A must visit if you’re in the area.

Joe Cross Real Estate

Google
Such a friendly and enjoyable brewery to go to. Good range of beers, food trucks and spaces to hang out. Awesome venue for events too!! We actually hosted our Oktoberfest themed baby shower in the Conservatory which was amazing. The staff were incredible & the beers flowed perfectly, …definitely the perfect place for a celebration!

Google
Great brewery to have a quick hop with a friend. Feel free to bring your four-legged friend and small humans as this place allows dogs and children. What's best, one of their offerings is a sour beer, in addition to what is expected in the area (IPAs). If your lucky, the bbq food truck is there to complete your full experience.

Google
Loved this place. Weather was perfect. Wasn’t that busy. Most people had dogs which was cool. Every beer we had was good. Liquid light was a collab with The Whags and released on 4/20. Neighborhood watch was also very good along with Porch Pals. The artwork on all the cans is great you can scan the label and get more info on the beer. What an awesome place to come and enjoy amazing beer. Great neighborhood bar

Google
Nice cozy brewery!!! We’re currently visiting from Houston and I can only say that you should go into neighborhoods and find either food or bars there instead of more touristy areas!! Very unique flavors going on in all of their brews. Their sours are great; I definitely recommend the Gemstone Forager. Great great environment and very clean.

Google
One of my favorite breweries! Such a fun, laid-back place with plenty of outdoor/indoor space. Very family and pet-friendly, which is a huge plus!Excellent food truck choices each day and yummy beers. Best hazy ipas in town!

Yelp
In town and trying out some local breweries. Scale: 1-5 Beer: 5 - They have several awesome Hazy IPA's, Phone home is a double and tasty, Mythical Creatures is crushable. Didn't have time to try more but will return. Atmosphere: 5 -cozy Service: 5 - bartender was cool and gave quick, solid recommendations. Also upon request provided other breweries we should check out. Food: - food truck, didn't check out Cultural/Political Agenda (1-5): 5 -No preachy nonsense--just beer.

Yelp
Our preferred brewery pub in Seattle due to the quality of the brews. Food trucks available, and a takeout Thai restaurant across the side-street. BEER: 4.5. - 4.0: White wine. Though beer is the draw, my partner had a white wine and commented that it was unusually good for a brewpub. - 5.0: Hedgehog "dark mild". Although I almost always go for a Pilsner or Lager and no longer like most dark brews, I really liked Hedgehog. It was unhoppy with a pleasing dark brown color; it was like drinking a rich brown peasant bread. AMBIANCE: 3.5. Inside and outside seating. Outside seating is picnic tables, which are a bit low (but bearable) for 5'11" me: it was almost akin to sitting at a kiddie table. Portable gas heaters warm the outside area on chilly nights. SERVICE: 3.0. Order at the bar (no table service). Prompt and provided samples when asked. One con was that the gentleman bussing tables accidently took my partner's 1/4 full wine glass; after noticing it still had wine he said he would bring another, but we never saw him again. Though I am sure it wasn't intentional, it merits mention.

Yelp
Impressive beer! Love the New England style IPAs. Up there with Monkish Brewing. Commencing countdown is delicious on tap.

Yelp
We were in Seattle for a wedding, and this brewery was a short, lovely, walk from our place. It has a great vibe, a very tasty selection of beers, and a helpful beertender to help your selection. While I did manage to hit several breweries, this one was my favorite. Bottom line: Get to the top of the hill and try this place out!
google avatar

Yelp
This place is bigger than it looks. Not only is there a lot of seating outside by the fire pits, but also the inside feels like a maze of rooms. Sometimes they have a food truck. It's a good neighborhood pub with a menu that changes seasonally. The espresso is bomb but overall not a big diverse selection outside of IPAs. The only downside is that hard to find parking in the area tucked in this residential area behind McDonald's.
google avatar

Yelp
Great outdoor local gathering place when the weather is nice. Food truck supplies the food, docking one star for the foot truck closing up really early on a Friday evening. The beer servers were pretty nice but were in a bit of a rush. No samples, some confusion on sizes. All in all a good experience.

Yelp
This is my favorite neighborhood brewery by far and oh how it's grown over the years! The beer lineup is top notch (and often award winning). The location has grown to have quite a bit of indoor and outdoor space so it's a great stop all year. I love their IPAs but they make really delicious beers across the spectrum. The rotating food trucks are nice and the proximity to the Thai restaurant next door gives you lots of great food options. They started doing a jazz music night too. Lots of great things going on here to check out.
google avatar

Drew B.

Yelp
Beer was ok, the food truck at the time we went (they rotate) was over priced. I got a porter, which tasted weirdly hoppy. But maybe that's my bad for ordering a dark beer in Seattle and not an IPA (not a big fan of IPAs, but it seems Seattle loves them). The food truck was a Native American-mex fusion. The sold a burger that was very meh and the chili fries were definitely overpriced (chilli was definitely some canned stuff). But the tacos? BOMB. They used 'fry bread) which I'm not familiar with as the tortilla and add pork and some other good taco stuff to it and it was pricey, but really good. Staff are great. They need more heaters outside. Inside is rank, no ventilation. Friendly place for family though. I still like the place with a 3/5

Yelp
Nice basic neighborhood brewery, friendly staff, will be back next time I'm in the area

Yelp
We came here yesterday for a private event. This was so much fun! I love that they had so much space outside and inside-there was plenty of room to sit. While they don't provide food, they did have a taco truck right outside. They have really cool swag for sale, and their staff is really nice. They were gracious and generous-we got to try anything we requested. Here is what we had: Coastal Groove- the passionfruit is the forefront of the flavors, but the mango and sour end makes this a delightful gose. Cider Slushy-their cider is from Locust Cider. This was really tasty. Ravenna Premium Lager: this lager stole my heart, and was my favorite of the day. It was very light and filling. We loved the space and the beer!

Yelp
One of my favorite places! wonderful beers, amazing seating(inside and out) dog friendly, and the staff is the freaking best and always so warm and kind. Myself and the pups love coming here

Yelp
I've wanted to come to Ravenna Brewing for years and I was finally able to go this weekend. It way exceeded my expectations. The beer was really tasty and the inside was adorable. They really nailed the aesthetic. We opted to sit outside for some fresh air and they had so many seating options available. I'd love to check this place out on a warm, sunny day.
google avatar

Yelp
Good beer selection, indoor and outdoor covered seating, dog and kid friendly, with a food truck. Friendly service, all around nice local brewery. I'll be back!
google avatar

Rebecca Q.

Yelp
Came here for trivia and enjoyed a delicious slushee. Unfortunately, the trivia room filled up very quickly and we weren't able to follow along from outside, but the outdoor space was very cute with the barrels for tables and benches.
google avatar

Erica W.

Yelp
I'm so glad I gave Ravenna a second shot. The first time I visited was around when they first opened. It was a small room, with barely anywhere to sit. Back then I wasn't wow-ed by the beer. Fast forward to now, it is definitely one of my faves in Seattle! It really is a hidden gem! They've expanded quite a bit, and they have a great outdoor patio! Their beers have come a long way since they opened. They definitely have found their knack! They've got some amazing IPAs! So juicy and flavorful! They don't offer sample trays, but they do have shorter pours (10 oz) available, for $5. A little pricey, but the beers are great so I'm not complaining! I love Ravenna Brewing! Great little spot North of Seattle!
google avatar

John B.

Yelp
We basically moved to Ravenna in order to be close to Ravenna Brewing. This is just a fantastic, no-frills brewery with a consistently impressive, rotating selection of beers. Service is always quick and friendly and you can easily find a place to sit either inside or outside under their tents. Additionally, they have a food truck available almost every day so you can always grab a snack or a full meal! The trucks change daily so you can always try something new- we love the Greek truck!
google avatar

Eddie F.

Yelp
Nice vibe, friendly staff, great beer. We had two lagers, an ipa, and a stout. They also have a sour on.
google avatar

Aaron W.

Yelp
I been going to Ravenna Brewing off and on since they first opened, always been solid. That being said, the new expansion is a game changer for me! With COVID they built a huge outdoor area that is covered which I dig. Also, they have numerous seating styles and setups which is great for different sized groups. Also, shoutout to the Colab Beers they have been doing lately.... and the sweet MERCH!
google avatar

Ricky R.

Yelp
This place is dope. I have had their beer in the past. I have never had a bad beer by them. I am glad I was able to check it out in person. The beers we tried were on point. Great ipas, great sours, and a nice dark lager and barrel aged vanilla porter. Worth a trip for sure. I would recommend for any beer nerd. A great location and decent amount of parking if you travel the neighborhood.
google avatar

Vanessa R.

Yelp
My real number is 4.5 stars, because of parking and because I run warm and it always feels extra warm in here during the summer for some reason! Other than that, no complaints here. The staff is always super friendly, the selection on draft is great, especially because I love sours and they always tend to have a few on rotation! There is lots of seating both indoors and outdoors and the food trucks that they host are always delicious without hesitation. Great place to hangout, great prices, great environment, and there is weekly trivia!

Yelp
Ambience: this is a classic Seattle brewery, few frills but a lot of good beer. Love the industrial but warm feel of the inside. If you're visiting on a chilly day, they have plenty of heated seats outside as well as inside. When we came there was a pretty loud, large party (not a private event/party) taking up most of the inside tap room. We went outside to enjoy our beers but seating was a little hard to find since there were so many people there. Beer: as is the case with most places in the city, Ravenna's offerings skew towards IPAs. They do have quite a few others though; I loved their sour and winter ale, even though I don't normally like dark beers! The sour popped off. Parking: tons of parking around the area and close to some local parks with lots of parking. Food: food trucks are usually there but if you show up past 8pm, they might be closed (as was the case when we arrived). Service: folks are helpful and will walk you through the menu upon asking. Bottom line: good, IPA-focused brewery in a nice location. May be hard to get a table and you might want to bring some snacks just in case.

Yelp
After touring the beautiful University of Washington campus and walking through the wetlands adjacent, I was definitely ready to quench my thirst, even as the rain started again. Ravenna had been on my radar for some time and I've enjoyed exploring the University District as well. Hoping that they might have a southern hemisphere hopped beer, as that was what I was craving, and that harvest is done and ready to be brewed. I was pleasantly surprised to find that they had not only one, but three to choose from!! Definitely made for a taster flight. Service was great! Very knowledgeable on their beers and quick on the pours. It's always fun to watch the parade of people come in, and listen to the various questions and orders, the smile on their faces as they take their full glasses to sit down and enjoy. Which there were quite a few of, even on a rainy early Saturday afternoon. The flight of hazy southern hops I tried, were all top notch in flavors, smells, and very drinkable. Very reminiscent of some of my favorite hazies from Fieldwork in the Bay Area. Just out of curiosity and wanting to try something different, I also tried their sour, which was a watermelon/strawberry.. it also was delicious, a little stronger on the watermelon, but a solid tasting sour, well balanced. I decided on the Neighborhood Watch to take home and enjoy the 4 pack, looking forward to returning, to check out more of their tasty beers and one of the food trucks they regularly host.. Yelping on, Cheers!

Yelp
We came here on a Thursday night and it was perfect. There was a big group of us but luckily we were still able to find a table outside. I love how they're pet-friendly & the overall ambiance of the place. Of course I got the fruitiest sounding drink possible - Fruity Bubbles Hard Seltzer. I thought it'd be super sweet but it was perfect. It was actually pretty light & it wasn't sweet at all. Highly recommend trying that drink if you're not a beer person like me.

Yelp
Love having this place down the street. Great outdoor space for the summer and heated in the winter. Beers on tap always have something good, and mulled wine in the winter. Rotating food trucks keep things fresh. I have no doubts I will have many visits to come at this place!

Yelp
Would you like to drink beer brewed by magical unicorns? How about if it was served by the nicest people you've ever met? No?! What's wrong with you?! Some of the best beer in Seattle, tons of seating, and free dog petting. If you don't go here, you have made a bad choice.

Yelp
We had our wedding in Ravenna Brewing's private room in July, and I can not recommend It enough, especially for private events! I worked with Frida for about 6 months prior to the event, and she was always helpful and responsive. The backdrop of barrels is beautiful, and the only cost to us was meeting a beer tab minimum, which was very easy with the private bar, and I think 12 or so of their delicious beers on tap. Day of, Jeff; our personal bartender was amazing, helpful, personable, and kind! They allowed us to bring in all of our own catering and live music, and had a plug in for when we wanted digital music. We had the space for 6 hours for our reception, along with 2 additional hours for set up! My partner and I, along with all of of our guests agreed that it was the perfect place and vibe for our wonderful event. There was nothing that wasn't done flawlessly!

Yelp
First time visiting Ravenna Brewing and we loved it. Cute vibe, easy to get to. Love that it's tucked away in a residential area, makes the vibe cool but cozy. Beer is on point (IPA). Staff are friendly. We'll be back for sure!

Yelp
Monday Seattle brewery hopping after Magnuson dog park ... delicious beer with outdoor garden seatings and friendly staff! No food but they have Scooby Dog foro truck and wow was their $12 all beef W/ EVERYTHING was delicious!! Def will be back
google avatar

Kiana C.

Yelp
This is one of the cutest breweries in Seattle! There is plenty of seating, indoor and outdoors, and the vibes are so cute (nice warm lighting) and festive during this time of year. They also have great heaters. In terms of the beer itself, I find that a lot of their beers tend to have very strong flavors (which is a good thing I guess, because if it hints at a flavor on the menu description, I never have trouble finding it when I taste it).
google avatar

Kacey O.

Yelp
great beer, lots of outdoor seating, and delicious food truck options. what more do you need in a brewery spot? on this day, had myself a Scooby Dog - all beef, all-in, plus garlic sauce. the shoestring fries made it muah and a cold glass of the Ravenna Reverie - cherry and key lime sour ale. not the best pairing, but each were delicious on their own. yum!

Yelp
Out and about adventuring on a Saturday, we stopped by for a couple of beers. I LOVE this place each time I go here. This time we decided to sit at the bar and had a chance to talk to the employees which was great. The Beer so tasty, the customer service..spot on, the peeps enjoying beer were great and the four legged children were relaxing curled up by their family. The outdoor patio was nice and the food truck always changing throughout the week. Don't miss Ravenna, and then once you have been there....go back again and try there new brews.
google avatar

Amanda N.

Yelp
My first time here was amazing! Parking is pretty spacious in the neighborhood, so you should have no trouble finding a spot. There are multiple doors to enter, so don't worry if you don't enter into the main room with the bar. The space is open so you can walk through to get to the bar. Seating is open and their swag is super cool too. You can buy their custom water bottles & growlers to get discounted fills at future events.
google avatar

Lena A.

Yelp
The beer was good, staff was a little awkward. It was our first time there and we came on a weekday afternoon so it was slow. We walked in past a few staff members cleaning equipment and loading boxes and walked all around the inside of the building standing at what we thought was the bar. After no one came to serve us we walked back out and asked the people we passed if they were open and they said yes, and we then asked if this was where we are supposed to order and they said no you have to walk around the other entrance. which was weird because they saw us walk in and wait at this other bar and didn't say anything. Anyways, once we got to the right area they were nice and the beer was good. I wanted a few sample tasters which they had but no easy way of carrying all of them. One suggestion would be to get some kind of tray for taster glasses because by the time I carried them all to my table, I had no idea which ones were which. They have a really nice patio and heaters. It seems like most people who were going there were regulars. I guess we just need to go more often and be regulars now.
google avatar

Mateo M.

Yelp
I love that this place is walking distance from my place, and that they feature some top notch food trucks. Visiting off-hours (in non-covid times) is the best for full bar access and quality lounging. Good vibes for hanging out, although the music selection often leaves much to be desired. The beer here is high quality and creative, although they lean a bit too hard on the IPA side. I'd like to see some variety like Russian Imperials, barleywine, Belgian ales, etc.
google avatar

Gary H.

Yelp
Great beer but you know what we liked even better, great attitude and service. No, this is not some giant brewer who has hundreds of people packing in its doors, but rather a small brewer staying true to its craft. The beer is good if not great. The owners are nice people and kid friendly. It's not fancy but a great place to grab food from the food truck and have a few beers and enjoy the sun when it is out.
google avatar

Karen H.

Yelp
We love Ravenna Brewing Company. They have tasty beer and a great atmosphere. The music is always playing and the staff are great!! You can even bring your pups!!!

Yelp
Happy time! family friendly, cute doggies, warm outside tents, reasonable price, everything perfect~
google avatar

Yelp
Brought our infant and toddler for an early evening dinner. Loved every part of it. Great beer. Great service. Super accommodating for kids. Grateful to have such a nice place in the neighborhood.
google avatar

Kelsey B.

Yelp
Ravenna Brewing has a great outdoor space that has been perfect for some social distance brews this summer. The great thing about this place is the variety in the styles of beers. Hazy IPAs, Porters and sours! Food trucks arrive daily but you can also order food here or grab something nearby to bring in. Super dog friendly and tons of water bowls for the thirsty pup. Thanks to the staff for keeping up with safety measures, wearing masks and cleaning up tables in between patrons. Cheers!
google avatar

Mark S.

Yelp
Happy healthy people, friendly dogs and smiling babies. A great place to be but bring a friend or two along.... Or be prepared to stare at your screens...alone. Still better than most places IMO when it comes to interacting and building community. I will be back soon and maybe I'll see you there, I'll be the guy dressed in purple.
google avatar

Brian G.

Yelp
This is just off one of my regular running routes and somehow I've never been here. After my pooch got her cone of shame off yesterday, I promised her we could run in whatever direction she wanted and she led me here. She is a very good girl. I grabbed some treats for her and a delicious Vienna lager for me and we had a lovely Xmas eve date. I'm not a big ipa fan and the tap list skewed that way, but still liked the place and will be back.
google avatar

Red B.

Yelp
RBC is a great little local drinking spot just north of UVillage. They have a solid rotating beer selection with a good variety from your typical IPAs, to some really good sours. This place has a really fun atmosphere and is great for groups. The inside is small, but the open layout makes it feel bigger than it is. Plenty of seating space, because they bypass the whole need for a bunch of individual tables. Instead, just pick a spot and have a beer with whoever you're with or some new people. They also have a nice patio area that is perfect for sunny days. My favorite thing (aside from the great beer) is that you can bring your good boys here. Because there is no food kitchen, dogs are welcome! Bonus points: they have a bunch of board games and pretzels to snack on!
google avatar

Haley W.

Yelp
I've been wanting to try this place for awhile. I enjoyed the atmosphere and the drinks! They also have really cool items you can purchase like shirts, sweatshirts, and a beautiful growler. My friend purchased the growler and you get a free fill! It's in walking distance to some restaurants that you can pick up food from to bring in with you too.

Brett L.

Yelp
Interesting layout w two bars but...meh..mediocre beer and every room smells like the bathroom or an old bar back that hasn't been cleaned. Best to drink outside.
google avatar

Tom E.

Yelp
Great welcoming atmosphere. You feel like you're in some special back room that is a well-kept secret. Interesting offbeat brews on tap - currently a dark porter with coconut, and a pineapple cider, for instance. Kids and dogs welcome, apparently.
google avatar

Jenny Z.

Yelp
Had been wanting to try this brewery for a while. Came here on the first sunny day in Seattle in like 60 days and it was a beautiful sight. Felt like a little glimmer of hope as all of the people crawled out of their caves for some Sunday day drinking. We spent the afternoon here and really enjoyed our time. Great variety of brews, two cider options and even a hard seltzer. Dog and baby friendly. Free pretzels. What more can you ask for! Big indoor and outdoor space with plenty of seating. Especially liked the indoor high tops that would open up to the outdoor seating in the summertime (openable garage door). Despite the garage door being closed the sun shined brightly in through the garage door windows, and all was well in the world for a few hours :)
google avatar

Amanda D.

Yelp
I just love it here. The vibe is relaxed, the beer is delightful (their sour beer is an all time fav of mine), and everyone is nice, friendly and accommodating. Hands down my favorite brewery.

Yelp
I come here all the time, and I'm consistently impressed with the great rotation of beer, vibes, and friendly service. Couldn't recommend enough!

Yelp
Amazing beer, especially their IPAs. Great to see they have many different IPA styles, each one produced well. I'd rank Ravenna up with the top must see(taste) breweries from the region.
