"This is a small, often crowded breakfast spot in Ravenswood. But the friendly staff and free coffee they give you in line make up for the wait. It also helps that the breakfast food here is delicious across the board - from the “sassy eggs” (chorizo and potato hash with scrambled eggs and ancho chile ketchup) to sweeter options like blueberry crunch pancakes (with cinnamon butter and housemade granola). They keep it interesting with weekly specials, too." - Adrian Kane

First time here and overall good experience! The server was very friendly and attentive. It's an interesting layout inside, with a cute breakfast bar. I ordered the chilaquiles and they were delicious. They accommodate dietary needs and the portions are decent. I'd go back!

Came for Sunday brunch with 5. We had to wait a little bit but they have a text option letting you know when the tables ready and a bench outside to wait. The service was phenomenal. Every person on staff was friendly, nice and helpful. Our server was patient when we had lots of questions and helpful at assisting us order. The food was sooo delicious. We all had a bit of everything and everything came out hot and tasty! Note: the chilaquiles are a tad spicy but incredibly authentic! A must for a breakfast/brunch lover!

I liked everything about this place, the food was good, I only wish I ordered something different, the Nutella French toast was delicious, just wayyy too sweet for me. I highly recommend having a nice girls breakfast/brunch here, our server was super nice and the food came out pretty quickly.

Stopped in at the Ravenswood Breakfast House this morning before heading home to Austin. The food was amazing! They weren’t able to accommodate adding a piece of the blueberry French toast to my order and the iced coffee was underwhelming but the amount of cheese on these omelettes was amazing! They were able to add a blueberry pancake but it didn’t come with the pecans or mascarpone cream. Pictured: Chicago Omelette, Blueberry pancake, sour dough toast Def a cute place I’d go back to! Add it to your list!

Outstanding customer service! The staff’s takes pride on serving well, which is pretty evident and very pleasing. Food is good but not the best.

I recently celebrated my civil wedding with my family at Ravenswood Breakfast House, and it was absolutely fantastic! We love the Spanish menus, the atmosphere, the servers were attentive and patient, and the food was incredible – especially the chilaquiles, which were a hit with everyone. I ended up last minute confirming details for my reservation, but Maria made the reservation process smooth, she personalized the menu specials with our names and even added a personal touch with a cute heart-shaped sign for our table with my husband's name and our wedding date. It was the perfect spot for a celebratory brunch with family. I highly recommend!

Google
Small but plentiful to offer at this local breakfast spot. Being a Sunday we expected a wait for a group which was true but not too bad for 8 for 20 minutes. I believe it might’ve been less but we were helped out right away. The service was very attentive and friendly. Our waitress was very friendly with our group. I really appreciated that the restaurant offers a menu in Spanish which really helped out our older relatives with choosing a dish. The coffee we were served was very good! One of the better ones I’ve had. Food wise we all enjoyed our food. My Thai baked eggs were a unique experience to say the least and definitely enjoyed it. The pancakes were not too sweet and were not too heavy too!’ Definitely coming back!

Google
Ordering French toast is not revolutionary when checking out a breakfast place… but I trust that if they can make ordinary extraordinary then you’ve got a winner… and the Ravenswood Breakfast House definitely checked that box… they had several French toast variations on the menu, but I opted for a simple order with only bananas and strawberries… my order not only came ready for a sexy photo shoot, it had ALL the flavors cooked right in… simply delicious! I enjoyed a side of their double smoked bacon and a cup of their fresh coffee, both of which had tons of kick as well… side note: I didn’t touch the avocado toast in the pics but the table was silent as we both ate… that alone is a small feat and speaks volumes… come ready to eat because you won’t want to stop… enjoy!

Yelp
Wanted to go here yesterday. PERMANENTLY CLOSED. Quite sorry I missed out on this place.

Yelp
I've been here twice now with friends for brunch. Service is always on point and the food is very tasty. It's not a big place, so you may need to wait a bit. Since I come with friends, I don't really pay attention to the vibe, but given the coziness, it's ideal for parties of 4-6 tops.

Andrew P.

Yelp
First timer here and my party was overall impressed. Service was generally friendly from the start. The consensus from everyone was that the food was above average. My partner ordered the breakfast sandwich and we all joked that it was giving torta vibes. He did mention that there was probably more egg inside that he would have liked (meaning the ratio was over the top). I do have to say that my chilaquiles were excellent. I haven't had chilaquiles that good in a while. This might be my new chilaquiles "go--to" spot in the area going forward. Will definitely return!

Yelp
This is the best breakfast you're going to find around here bar none! Portions are just right and the food is fresh and fantastic! Ambience is perfect

Jessica A.

Yelp
Walked to brunch on a beautiful Saturday morning and were seated with no waiting at the bar. I lost track of how many times my iced tea was refilled, a sign of excellent service! I had the avocado toast, which was perfection on sourdough bread with a side of chicken sausage links. This is a great neighborhood spot for breakfast that is adorned with fun egg decor.

Yelp
Amazing! Came here to celebrate breakfast for my birthday and man oh man, it didn't disappoint! I decided to start the day with some delightful chilaquiles and they were absolutely divine. Spicy, bright and just beyond flavorful. I learned that they make their tortilla chips in house everyday so this why the dish doesn't get soggy because the chips are freshly made. The lettuce and cilantro on top adds a nice fresh element and the crema is needed to cool that spice down. Amazing! Best chilaquiles I've had. My friend ordered the Filipino breakfast and she said it was delicious. The sausages that came with her breakfast were incredible. Imagine a honey glazed fried sausage-that's what it taste like. Our server was ok. He was on the slow bop a bit but despite slower service it didn't take away from the food and experience. The owner was such a pleasure to talk to! She welcomed us to the space and shared her story with opening the restaurant. They also take a Polaroid photo of you and give you one to go so that you can have the memory. I thought this was such a warm touch. I will for sure return!

Yelp
Whether you're in the Ravenswood neighborhood or not, this is a breakfast spot you should definitely add to your list of places to try. With a cozy and welcoming atmosphere, the service was fast, friendly and attentive. Looking at the menu, I wanted to try everything - from the chilaquiles to the breakfast sandwiches to the french toasts. I ended up going with Ricotta french toast which was a great call. But honestly I don't think you could make a bad choice here. This is a spot we'll be back to, even living in the Loop, it's worth the train or drive up! 10/10 all around, a must try!

Yelp
This lovable little place got added to our regular weekend brunch rotation today! Ravenswood Breakfast House has outstanding food at a reasonable price in a modern yet welcoming space. We arrived around 11:30 on a Sunday and waited less than 10 minutes for a table for two. The friendly hostess (also co-owner) made us feel welcome from the start. I ordered the green scramble, my husband got the ricotta French toast, and we both ordered tea. We each received a bag of high quality tea and a pot of hot water. Our food came, and it was beautiful, plentiful, and absolutely delicious! I was especially impressed with my scramble. Each of the vegetables (peas, asparagus, and mushrooms) was cooked perfectly, and there was just the right amount of cheese to provide flavor but not be gooey or heavy. Whoever is back in the kitchen knows what they're doing. The French toast had just the right amount of sweetness and a generous amount of berries in addition to the lovely ricotta. My only nitpick is the tables are a little small for all the food they give you...but overall it was a great visit, and we'll definitely be back!

Yelp
Every Saturday and Sunday I would pass this restaurant there would be a line outside. I was in the area early one morning in the middle of the week and got a seat immediately. There is a bit of Thai inspiration in a few menu items. The omelet I ordered had some Thai spices in it that I liked a lot. The herbs and spices were in the Thai sausage that was crumbled in it. The hashbrowns were hashbrows, which was fine because of no competition with the omelet. Being extremely hungry, I also had a small order of pancakes with scrambled eggs. The pancakes stayed warm until I had finished all of them. Usually pancakes start getting cold or rubbery after a few minutes at the table. Not the case here. If you want to get a seat quickly and you have a day off, stop in during the middle of the week early in the morning. I understand why there is an ongoing weekend crowd.

Kayla S.

Yelp
Very tasty food. The Bourbon latte drink is delicious (and strong). Very cute ambiance. Highly recommend

Carol F.

Yelp
Great spot for brunch! They weren't that busy so we were seated right away. It does get a bit loud but that's expected from a smaller space. My Chilaquiles were a bit soggy but the flavor was great! My husband and son enjoyed their food as well. The 5 star review is for one of the co-owners for checking on us and offering to take our pictures for their RBH board and lil Father's Day sweet treat. It's a decent spot, check it out!

Holly K.

Yelp
such a quaint little place. i need to start off by saying as someone who has worked and still works in the restaurant industry, I have never met such a kind and gentle person as a server. i don't know who they were but from other reviews it really does seem like service is the #1 reason to go here! Food is good, the potatoes were lacking in any spices or seasoning but i got this blueberry french toast and the french toast itself was so yum and so easy to cut through? something i didn't think would have an impact but 100% did out of 10, i'd give this place 7.8/10, if go back just for the vibes and i'm curious to try some of their other dishes :)

Yelp
I'm very sad because it appears that Ravenswood Breakfast House has closed for good. We tried to go there this morning only to see it all closed up and sign that they have closed. It was such a great place, the staff was superb, and the food always delicious. Not sure what happened because there are other very recent reviews, but we are very sorry to see it go.

Kyle P.

Yelp
A fitting replacement for Over Easy Cafe, Eighty Eight Eggs has moved right in without missing a beat. Lots of variety on the menu, with friendly and knowledgeable staff. My wife has the tofu chorizo scramble (not pictured), which was as delicious and well-seasoned as it was unique. Whether you're vegan or not, it's essential a must order. I had the veggie omelette with a side of pancakes. While both were cooked well, they were in desperate need of seasoning - I had to put quite a bit of salt and pepper on the omelette to get them where they should be. The pancakes, slightly overcooked, had no flavor at all in the batter; a touch of vanilla extract would have solved that instantly. Still, overall this is a really nice brunch spot at extremely reasonable prices.

Jessica G.

Yelp
Good, solid breakfast fare, good coffee and very friendly staff. I'll be glad to add to my brunch rotation! They do not take reservations so be ready to wait a little, but tables seem to turn over pretty quickly.

Ella W.

Yelp
So we are on a quest as a couple to find "our brunch spot". You know in those rom coms, it pans over and girl is holding her coffee and the guy is telling her a joke, they're just engaged in conversation, making up stories about the rest of the people in the place. This place is a definite contender. It's not sure crowded. It's right next to a park for those post brunch strolls and the portions are huge. Everyone in there took their food home for later. Definitely great bang for your buck. Worth the trip up north. We will be back.

Hugo V.

Yelp
Chilaquile sauce was very savory and the chilaquiles themselves were very good and had a nice toasty-ness to them. The easy French toast was just as delicious and simple as it sounds. 10/10 Restaurant was very pleasing to the eye and had fun decorative walls

Mary M.

Yelp
I had breakfast here this morning. The French toast was delicious and such a beautiful presentation. My friend enjoyed her omelette and they were great with the substitution she requested. Plenty of hot coffee. The server was friendly without being obtrusive and on the spot when we needed anything. I plan on returning to this delightful neighborhood gem.

Finn M.

Yelp
The Ravenswood Breakfast House is the restaurant you go to when you want a quality and consistent breakfast with friendly service. The interior is casual and cozy and you can get all of the classics like a breakfast burrito, omelets, pancakes, and skillets. I had the breakfast burrito and it was hefty and so delicious!!! The ingredients were mixed up inside instead of layered which was a huge bonus!! I can't wait to go back!

ari b.

Yelp
Solid solid breakfast spot! The best plate of chilaquiles I've ever had. Perfect balance of flavors and textures. Loved it. Highly recommended. They can really cook!

Brie S.

Yelp
We went around 12 ish today (Sunday) and there was no wait! Staff was super nice and accommodating! Great energy, and ambiance. It made us feel super comfortable and part of the family. Jenny was great! Always checking up on us and letting us know about specials. I'm so glad we've stumbled upon this place, and will definitely be back. The food was 10/10. I had the banana French toast, and the presentation was just as good as the taste. The strawberry lemonade was super fresh as well! My boyfriend had the smoked salmon omelette and we both loved that as well. The potatoes were well cooked! Yumm. Can't say enough good things about this place. Give it a try!

Grace Y.

Yelp
I want to love this place....it's in my neighborhood and the servers are nice and I want to support them. The food, however, is so blah. I went last week and decided to keep it simple: two eggs sunnyside up, bacon, fried potatoes, coffee. First of all, and maybe I'm too picky, but I'm a serious coffee drinker and the table-top creamers in a bowl are a mystery to me and just an assault on good coffee. How can it not be refrigerated? So any breakfast place that doesn't offer actual milk or cream just goes down a few notches for me. The fried potatoes had a really odd chemical taste (??!) ...like something was really off and they were inedible. Eggs were undercooked. Bacon was fine.

Eric B.

Yelp
Delicious food, friendly service; what's not to like? Great local spot to go for a lazy Sunday brunch with friends and/or family.

Dave C.

Yelp
A little small inside but exactly what you want from a spot like this. A top notch menu and quick attentive wait staff! Keep it up! This is easily a top 5 brunch spot on the north side!

George C.

Yelp
Visiting from Florida, landed at O'Hare early this morning, and after dropping off my luggage, my sweetheart and I headed straight to Ravenswood Breakfast House. The food was exceptional, fresh, and generously portioned. Enjoyed steak with fried eggs and potato hash, while my better half had the Havarti Omelette with potato hash. The Berry Pancakes with fresh fruits were a delightful finish. Everything was on point, and the customer service made us feel like family. Discovered this gem through Instagram--highly recommend Ravenswood Breakfast House!

Yelp
Quaint little breakfast/brunch spot in Uptown. I was visiting my friends who live nearby and they had never been and wanted to check it out. We went last Saturday morning. They have a pretty nice selection of options. I didn't see any lunch/dinner options, so think it's strictly breakfast. I got the 2 eggs over easy with toast. It was good, hard to mess up lol if I was hungrier I would have gotten the breakfast sandwich, which my friend ordered and looked big and tasty. My other friend got the thai egg scramble, which also looked good, with several types of meat included. Thankfully never got too crowded, they didn't take reservations but this day at least we didn't need them. No alcohol is served though so unfortunately no boozy brunches or mimosas or bloodys. Still it's a quality breakfast place, and worth checking out if you're in the area.

Tim S.

Yelp
Unusual to enter an old favourite under new ownership that changed the name and some art but kept a lot of the menu. Food was fine, staff okay. I miss Over Easy, bummer they closed.

Amy B.

Yelp
The best breakfast potatoes I've ever eaten by far. Brunch is my thing on the weekends and even on some weekdays. They ambience is superb in every way. I totally enjoyed my meal. I will be coming back for more.

Emily B.

Yelp
Nice atmosphere and staff. Large servings and a few unique Thai inspired dishes. Otherwise it's a petty standard breakfast menu with good quality ingredients.

Pete C.

Yelp
Food and coffee about as good as Savannah, great service, nice vibe, but no WiFi. Come on Friday and skip the weekend wait.

Jennifer D.

Yelp
There's so much competition when it comes to brunch food here in Chicago, but eighty eight eggs is a solid choice in the Ravenswood neighborhood. The Thai baked eggs special was yum and had a variety of food on the plate. It was strange to see on the menu because nothing else really stood out amongst the other American breakfast options. Tortilla wrap was also good and very filling, but chunks of bacon were just a lil too big for comfort. Interior is tight so might be tough for bigger parties if crowded so might be best to call ahead. Otherwise, I was pretty full and satisfied... try the Thai baked eggs special!

Angelica T.

Yelp
Appearance wise the green scramble looks like a mish-mosh of ingredients but the taste was great and the portion was not skimpy. I hate when eggs have any brown on it and taste like wet dog (you know what I'm talking about!) , this spot did not disappoint, the eggs were cooked perfectly. Even the garnish orange slice was ripe and juicy. I didn't try the potatoes but my friend loved them along with her Cancun omelette

Darran W.

Yelp
What a great staff to have at this neighborhood brunch spot. The menu has lots of sweet and savory options, we had the breakfast burrito and meatless tofu scramble, and both were delicious, tangy and mild to medium spice level. The omelets looked great, each one that went by our table looked perfectly folded and fluffy. There is counter seating for 4 and the tables turn quickly in this cozy dining room. Everyone is welcoming in this bright and clean spot by the park.

Lulu K.

Yelp
This place was just alright. 88 egg omelette wasn't bad, had a good kick from the sausage. Potatoes were eh and the cranberry french toast wasn't bad. I think people who like tartiness would like it. Nothing too crazy. The waitress was nice. They were out of fresh orange juice when we arrived.

Zinna S.

Yelp
Cute, relatively small brunch place. The menu has lots of omelets and breakfast sandwich/burrito type options. The ricotta French toast with raspberry was delicious, not overly sweet but definitely didn't need syrup. The breakfast sandwich I ordered was HUGE! Was stuffed after eating half, would've been better to share, but it made a nice leftover breakfast. Crispy potatoes were perfectly salted and cooked. They serve coffee but no espresso drinks. Staff was friendly though felt like we had to waive our server down a few times despite it not being too busy. Giving this three stars because overall the food was good but not amazing, especially given that the breakfast meals are mostly things that could be made at home.

Cathy M.

Yelp
I said to the blonde lady, I need a breakfast sandwich to go, anything except pork. I trusted her selection, a caramelized onion omelette sandwich with a side of potatoes. She offered me water and a seat as I waited. The Friday crowd was pouring in, yet they SAFELY had the tables spaced pandemic distanced. The water was crisp, filtered, clean and the glass was smooth, and pleasant to hold. The decor was simple, chic, and comfortable. I opened the bag as soon as I closed my car door. Usually eggs are funky...THESE EGGS MADE ME WANT TO EAT THE BAG! The bread was thoughtfully toasted; the cheese was melted throughly; the onions were delightfully sweet and well cooked. And the hash browned red potatoes were crisp on the outside while melt in my mouth soft on the inside. It was like grandma was back in their kitchen, creating magical diner food worthy of Christmas morning love. The portion size was WELL WORTH the price, especially considering the new high costs of buying groceries. I don't often give this high praise, unless a place proves their worth. I called them after my first few bites just to thank them for the great food. Ask for Jenny and please tip them well. "I Do Good Things, LLC endorses this little piece of Heaven!

Christen G.

Yelp
I came her bc it was down the block from where I was staying. There was no sign out front but a pretty mint green paint job sets it apart. The menu is simple and delicious, the staff was attentive and kind. Their home made pancake mix is delicious! I'd like to go back and eat my way through the menu! I only wish there was espresso and not just coffee - but maybe some day.

Lisa M.

Yelp
First time there The orange juice was right on with flavor The food we had was excellent Service was friendly and attentive I would definitely eat here again

Pamela R.

Yelp
This simple gem right on Damen has an amazing menu for all of your guests abs their desires. Service is always friendly and the atmosphere inviting. The skillets portions are large and flavorful and the berries and French Toast amazing. 4 stars because o had to ask a few times to get the coffee cup refilled.

Robin C.

Yelp
Recently opened in the old Over Easy space, and really rooting for this new business to succeed! It's a bright space, we had no wait and the food was fast, piping hot and comforting. Omelette was fluffy and my fiancé devoured the ricotta french toast. Service was warm and friendly! For the local Over Easy loyalists, I wouldn't be surprised if 88 hired former cooks or servers as there were some menu items -- in plating and offerings -- that were reminiscent of what I loved about Over Easy. Excited to support a local, asian-owned business, too.

Abigail R.

Yelp
Casual, small breakfast joint that offers great breakfast options. Our server was very helpful and attentive. Service was very fast and food is priced well.

Karen D.

Yelp
This is a sweet, cozy spot to grab some breakfast and catch up with a friend. The services was attentive and friendly, the food yummy and the space was warm and welcoming.

Ketan P.

Yelp
Overall good experiences over two visits. Eggs are good but I believe it's hard to screw them up except in palmettes. Potatoes seem fresh to me, but keep in mind you must salt to your desire. Both Rye and Sourdough toasts are great - I prefer the rye! My Cancun oamlette was great Thai eggs were not as good since too sweet...so not for everyone. Not really Thai either Bacon is a bit weird ...very dry Coffee is great. You can see the new maker they installed. Wife had Eggs Benedict last time - they were fantastic, but not a usually menu item only available as a special. Great, Cody place to visit. They do take reasonable COVID risk mitigation actions.

Tasha F.

Yelp
Efficient service and decent coffee. I did not care for their scrambled eggs. It was a very decent breakfast.

David S.

Yelp
5 different breakfasts All were excellent Excellent service Try their specials Xxxxxxxx

Emery R.

Yelp
We really like this place and go at least twice a month. Excellent service, really good, fresh coffee and food. My favourites are their rye toast, crispy red potatoes and anything they make with eggs. The restaurant is clean, the staff is great, they did a great job during the pandemic of social distancing keeping it safe for diners and staff. If I were to have any criticism it would be that the portion sizes are massive, consider sharing...

Jennifer L.

Yelp
Delishious and delightful!!! If you want fantastic food at great prices and large portions paired with a clean friendly environment than eat at 88 Eggs! The servers are amazing and the place is quaint with just the right amount of mellow background music to allow for conversation. We had smoked salmon scramble and breakfast burrito. Both delicious, and we will be eating leftovers for lunch.

Barry W.

Yelp
This is my sons favorite place to eat. He lives in the neighborhood and we go there every time I visit him. I don't know how many eggs they put in their omelettes, but I would guess half a dozen. I just know they are giant I can't say I have a favorite item on the menu. My favorite is trying different things when we go, and I have never been disappointed.

Jeri W.

Yelp
Not sure why this place has such good reviews. We went on a Sunday morning, and it was crowded and really noisy. When our food arrived, the toast was cold, the scrambled egg dish was bland and unseasoned. Five minutes after it arrived, the waiter plunked down the check without being asked for it. Not a wam welcome to say the least.
