Went to Michigan to get fruit and looked online for a place to eat. Hubby found Ray and Al’s and suggested it to me for their ‘liver wurst’ sandwich (I call it braunschweiger). So, that’s what I ordered, hubby got the caprese sandwich. Both were so fresh and delicious!! Two of the best sandwiches we’ve had in a very long time! If only it weren’t so far away, I’d be here every week! If you are nearby, go! Completely worth it

Wife and I come here often. Friendly people and great food. All sandwiches we’ve tried have been great. Spaghetti sandwich is our favorite!

What an amazing little lunch spot. Can't wait to go back for breakfast sometime. Friendly service, good vibe, quaint space. Love to see this in the funny little town of Galien. In a town where it seems everything else has gone out of business, Ray & Al's is a bustling sandwich shop and bakery putting out excellent food. We tried the liverwurst sandwich, which seemed appropriate given all the German heritage in the area. It was good, but I'd try something else next time. It's a unique flavor profile worth trying at least once. You might love it! The Cuban sandwich had a great, smokey flavor to it. Macaroni salad was sweeter than we like it, but that's just personal preference. Baked goods were tasty - tried a chocolate donut and a gluten free brown butter oatmeal chocolate cookie. (it'd probably be even better NOT gluten free ;)) Indoor was busy but tables turned fast. There are also a handful of outdoor seating options as well. Well done Ray & Al!

Great spot with awesome sandwiches. We tried the Spaghetti and Hero, both phenomenal. Staff was super friendly. I'll definitely be back whenever I'm nearby again.

Google
This place is an absolute gem. We've been twice now, and have many more trips there in the future. Pics are from both visits. All I'm reviewing specifically is my sandwich from the last visit. I will say that *everything* we've had has ranged from good to great. There's no negatives at all in our experiences. The open space is warm, friendly, "homey," inviting. Staff if so warm, friendly, and caring. They seem to truly get what they're there for, and deliver it so well. Last visit, I went specifically for the highly bragged up Spaghetti Sandwich. I was prepared to be underwhelmed. Instead, I was overwhelmed, and will be back for another. And another..... and.... yeah! This is simplicity at it's best. A nice crispy bun, spaghetti that is cooked perfectly; just a bit of tooth left in it. The sauce was my concern, as I was expecting a gooey, dripping sandwich destroying the bun. They've dialed this in. Just enough moisture to make it really be a serving of spaghetti, but not so much that it ruins the sandwich experience. If you're avoiding carbs, who cares; order one anyway and be pleasantly surprised. Support these folks with frequent visits. You'll be pleased. And you'll be helping the first new business in Galien I believe in years. It's a beautiful drive, and a totally enjoyable destination

Google
Delightful sandwich shop nestled in a quaint little village off the beaten path. Warm and friendly staff, fresh delicious menu, perfect pumpkin spice latte, and best little $1 chocolate chip cookies ever! Discover southwest Michigan at its finest this fall!

Google
Such a cute lil spot with delicious food! We had such a nice breakfast and the service was great!

Google
We are from Indianapolis & came for a girls weekend. We found this place randomly and went twice in our short weekend. Everyone is so sweet, kind & feels very at home. The food is AMAZING and a great price! The ladies working welcomed us back on our 2nd trip.

Yelp
We spent a day with my in-laws, and they suggested this place. Good suggestion! Everything is made fresh - period. It takes a few minutes since it is made fresh, but it is so much better that way. You walk in, get into the line, and take a long, hard look at the impressive menu board. Then look down - they have all sorts of delicious baked goods as well. Pick what you want, order it up. We sat outside since it was a nice day, under a nice table with an umbrella. They brought the food out, and it was very tasty! I had their Turkey Club, which was scrumptious, just mouth wateringly good. My wife had their bagel bacon, egg and cheese sandwich, which she enjoyed. They have an assortment of drinks and chilled water. I had a coke which was good, and went back for chilled water. This is a nice place, off the beaten path. Find it, try it, you'll enjoy it.

Yelp
Ok wow! Go here! Go here now! We LOVE this place! The food is fresh, the flavors are paired perfectly, and the prices are so reasonable. Everyone who works here is kind, and the owners clearly enjoy what they do- the place has happy vibes. Try the Tuna Sandwich, the Liverwurst sandwich and if you go soon get the Fall special... I don't want to ruin the surprise so you gotta go to get it
google avatar

Yelp
Fresh ingredients. Friendly service. Delicious food. I had the turkey club sandwich and they give you a lot of turkey. The sourdough bread is buttery and toasted to perfection that gives a nice crunch and texture to your sandwich. My friend had the tuna melt and she really loved it. I took a bite of it and it was pretty good. The pickled onion gives a nice flavor for the whole sandwich. My other friend had the spaghetti sandwich and it was basically a spaghetti with bread. The chocolate covered doughnut was so good! It is fresh and the texture is so soft and it melts in your mouth. Highly recommend this place!

Yelp
Sandwich was great. Employees were very friendly. Ate outside with my dogs. They brought them some treats. Look forward to returning.
google avatar

Grace D.

Yelp
For some reason when my friend recommended this place, I thought it would be way cuter. When we walked it was pretty underwhelming and so was the food. They have a very simple menu so maybe I should have tried something different. Tasted like I could have made it better at home. The coffee was pretty average too. I will not be back
google avatar

Rich B.

Yelp
I'm so happy I found this wonderful restaurant and the staff is amazing like the food. Isaiah loves the smells and the owner will sometimes sneak out to give him a treat. This place is better than five stars!
google avatar

Dina E.

Yelp
Unique twist on house made deli sandwiches! Located in a tiny, rural town, Ray and Al's knows how to make a sandwich! Definitely worth a stop if you're near Galien or Three Oaks.
google avatar

Yelp
A perfect spot. Wonderful aesthetic decisions. Very friendly staff. Excellent sandwiches and baked goods. There is a warmth that is uncommon to find here.

Yelp

Yelp
Fresh, healthy food. Friendly service and good music. Highly recommend. ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

Yelp
Wonderful place tucked away in downtown Galien. My tuna melt was outstanding. I saw a lot of sandwiches and everything looked fresh and delicious. Short drive from new Buffalo. I ordered a maple doughnut but did not receive one. I was not charged but next time I'll check my bag. Great small business to support in harbor country. I'll be back.

Yelp
I've yet to eat here. The food looks really good though. I'm on my way to a pumpkin patch and of course nature called. I went to the local gas station and their bathroom was out of order. I went to the dollar general, again, out of order. Thank god this place exists. Will definitely comeback for their food next time.

Susan C.

Yelp
Charming local cafe with delicious homemade offerings! Try the Michiana Monster sandwich and take home a donut for the next day's breakfast..........
google avatar

Ken B.

Yelp
Down home service and ambiance with uptown food! Small village perfection! Inside and outside dining experience!
google avatar

Ross G.

Yelp
Great sandwiches. Loved the cole slaw. You can taste the care about the product. Very tasty.

MB W.

Yelp
While the sandwiches I have had over the past 2 years (breakfast sandwich, spaghetti sandwich and the tuna melt) have been delicious, Their incredible donuts are what I cannot get enough of - most often sold out before the morning ends so get there early. The team of people who work here are ALWAYS especially thoughtful and kind. A totally pleasurable experience.

Yelp
Quaint little lunch & breakfast place off the beaten path but well worth a detour. Food was fresh and delicious. There were 5 of us and each tried a different sandwich and would order all of them again. Soup of the day (split pea) and beet salad were also very good. There is a cute mercantile area with Lost of fun goodies to take home. Service was amazing and very personable. Its the type of place where you enter as strangers and leave as friends.
google avatar

Oliver Bjorn K.

Yelp
What a fantastic breakfast. So happy I stopped by. I had a maple doughnut that was delicious. Didn't make the picture. My egg bake is light, fluffy & dynamite. Love that I can get some ruffage as a side. Great way to start the day. If you find yourself near Three Oaks? Go ahead and drive a few miles East na d treat yourself to an absolutely amazing meal.

Yelp
Highly recommend the Caprese sandwich! The baguette is exceptional and the ingredients fresh and tasty. The house-made oatmeal chocolate chip cookie also hit the spot. Comfortable dining room with friendly and attentive staff.

Yelp
Best veggies sandwich ever! The bread is terrific and baked fresh on site. Tomato basil soup also a winner! Really nice people and great music. Definitely worth a stop as you explore southwestern Michigan.

Bill G.

Yelp
Great family sandwich, soup and healthy choices. Owners are there and make certain you are satisfied

Yelp
All I can say, is delicious... Everything! A quick drive from Union Pier and New Buffalo... Totally worth the trip.

Yelp
I've been wanting to come here for a while! And it did not disappoint. Breakfast bagel sandwich and donuts were SO fresh and tasty. I went outside the norm and got a vanilla latte and it was delicious too. Not too sweet and a great toasty flavor. Perfectly priced and I can't wait to go back. Truly worth the small drive to stop in. The staff was super friendly :)

Jennifer ..

Yelp
Friendly staff, delicious food, clean and cozy cafe w outdoor seating. Love everything about this place and would recommend

Yelp
The bagel and the liver sausage sandwich we ordered were well done and tasty. Service (take out) was excellent.

Yelp
For now we're in Arizona. Will be back next spring. For sure we use an extension of R&A's at Happy Trails - Surprise, Az.

Jeff C.

Yelp
I have reviewed this restaurant before but it's been a year or so. They are still blocking and tackling with the details. Owners working hard, music on, clean place. Really deserve our business. Small almost deserted town. Food was very good

Grace L.

Yelp
The best breakfast/lunch spot. An actual hidden gem. They have great vegetarian options as well! Not only is the food absolutely amazing, the service is always exceptional! Marnie is the best!
google avatar

Michele S.

Yelp
Ray and Al's was one of the best breakfast and coffee places I've ever had! The donuts are very fresh and you must try the bacon, egg, and cheese bagels. The girls at the counter were so friendly and the place was super clean. Definitely a 5* plus
google avatar

Treva C.

Yelp
Ray & Al's Lunchroom deserves the great recommendations it's been getting! Our sandwiches were full of good ham, cheese and pickles on crusty grilled bread - big enough to share. The macaroni salad had peas, carrots and cheese in it. The homemade chicken soup used egg noodles and was flavored perfectly. Even the root beer was unusually good. It caused more business on quiet Galien's Main Street than I have ever seen.

Mary D.

Yelp
Off the beaten path but worth it. Cute place. Fast service. Nice people. Great sandwich. I had a Cuban and, while it's not authentic (based on many I've had in Tampa and Miami,) it's fantastic. There's a smokiness to the (lots of) meat, enough cheese for balance, perfect amount of mustard and tasty, not overpowering, pickles. Will be back for breakfast or lunch to try other sandwiches.
google avatar

Diana M.

Yelp
Great sandwiches and baked goods! Love the donuts! I had an Italian sandwich with olive spread - delicious!

Beth K.

Yelp
What a charming little cafe in this little whistlestop town! Thank you to Waze for taking our roadtrip through this area so we could stop at this hidden gem. The couple in front of us asked what their best selling sandwich was and the woman behind the counter said "Whatever your favorite sandwich is, is the best seller. We have the best tuna melt, the best Cuban, the best liverwurst - whatever you like, we have the best version of it." LOVE that! My husband had the tuna melt - loved the addition of pickled onions on top. I had the spaghetti sandwich because I've never had anything like that. It was so delicious, but yet so simple I don't know why I don't make that at home. The ladies working here treated us like old friends and the cafe was neat and clean. Prices were consistent with the quality of food.

Judy R.

Yelp
Excellent food! Deli sandwich, fresh baked goods for breakfast and lunch. It closes 3:00 pm.

Kris K.

Yelp
I love this kind of place. It has heart, not to mention liverwurst on the menu . . .yes, Friends, a sandwich with bacon and liverwurst . . .rich in iron and flavor. : ) I think yesterday was about my fifth or sixth time eating here and I've never really been disappointed. The pea soup yesterday, cup for four dollars, was piping hot and flavorful. On a rainy cold day like yesterday, what a treat. Hubbs and I like sharing a maple donut if we go for breakfast. YUM. The breakfast bagel sandwiches are inexpensive and tasty. I like the coffee and the casual self serve drink cooler. Pellegrino, anyone? A good summer memory is picking up sandwiches from here and taking them to the beach. The sandwiches are generous and creative. Oh, and there's a small outdoor seating area in summer and inside has a very homey cafe feel. Friendly. Cozy.

Yelp
Great coffee and yummy sandwiches in this quaint little restaurant. Always fast and friendly service.
google avatar

John B.

Yelp
We stayed in Three Oaks for a weeklong vacation to escape the heat of Arizona and decided to try Ray & Al's based on the Yelp reviews. They were outstanding. The cake donuts were the best I've ever had and the Cuban sandwich was top notch. The staff was incredibly nice and the shop was clean with a great ambiance.
google avatar

Teresa G.

Yelp
If you want to find the best sandwich you have ever eaten look no further. The food was absolutely delicious. There were 4 of us and we ordered 7 sandwiches, the french toast muffin, the lemon blueberry cookie and extra baguettes. Everything was off the charts. Its hard to say which we liked best. There is a spaghetti and provolone cheese sandwich on garlic bread which was incredible. So unique and absolutely delicious. When in Michigan make sure to go here for lunch. Great people which makes it even better! You will be happy you did!
google avatar

Jina H.

Yelp
All I can say is calling their sandwiches a just sandwich is like calling the Mona Lisa "just a painting".

Craig D.

Yelp
You get to meet Ray and Al, have a really good sandwich maybe a donut and Sprecher. What's not to like?

Sharon F.

Yelp
I've had every sandwich! All are absolutely delicious. Bakery items are so tasty. You won't be disappointed.

Taylor H.

Yelp
They serve Dark Matter coffee/espresso drinks, delicious sandwiches, fresh-squeezed OJ, etc etc. Highly recommend this locally-owned gem.

Eric W.

Yelp
A great little find in Galien of all places. The best sandwiches in the entire area served by friendly people. If tomatoes are in season you can't go wrong with the BLT or Caprese. But the star is the liverwurst sandwich with pickled red onion. I wasn't sure at first that I would like an entire sandwich of liverwurst but now it's my go to choice. Good soups and side salads, too.
google avatar

Steve C.

Yelp
We live nearby and LUV LUV LUV this place! We've had several of their lunch sandwiches and been pleased and surprised by the complex flavors and quality ingredients. Relaxing country kitchen / corner deli atmosphere, with a little history and funk garnish on the side. WELL WORTH going a bit out of your way!

Pam F.

Yelp
Mostly simple sandwiches...composed and prepared to perfection. We've now tried most of the options and all were delicious. Friendly staff in a homey atmosphere.

Margie A.

Yelp
We had lunch one day and then went back for breakfast on another!! Great food, friendly service, and a short drive from where we were staying in Sawyer. Such a wonderful addition to Galien. Wishing the new owners all the best!
google avatar

Wayne B.

Yelp
Quaint little cafe. Wide variety on the menu. Quick and friendly service too. Always busy and a lively atmosphere. Worth the short trip from any direction!

C M.

Yelp
The sweetest ladies and the most amazing treats ( cookies) and sandwiches around, I highly recommend!!
