Tales from the Pizza Wars | Eater

"Once-familiar, family-run neighborhood pizzerias were largely displaced by the rise of drone-powered conglomerates, leaving empty storefronts as aerial competition and consolidation replaced small, cash-based restaurants with corporate delivery systems." - Jon Methven

Terrible experience for my first time!! Came in with my husband on a random Tuesday evening they were not busy but unless you’re a frequent flier you’ll get ZERO attention. We waited 20 minutes for our drink/shot and after we quickly guzzled it down another 15to get our tab. I’ll never go back there and Beth the bartender was awful!!

After Annabelle's closed it is the best bar in Highland square. Great atmosphere and drink are not expensive.

I came to Ray's on Wednesday evening for our first round. I had a beer my date had tequila. Bill was less than $15 and I left a 20% tip. However my card got charged for $30. I won't be coming back to this establishment.

10 out of 10 don’t recommend. They didn’t have the item I ordered to eat and didn’t tell me until I was trying to pick it up. They have a “card minimum” of $10 when I only had a $3 beer they authorized my card for $30. Seems like a major scam and just all together inconvenient to be a college bar …. Or a bar at all with rules designed to strong-arm patrons for a tip.

What a great place. Menu is very diverse, and the tap list is to die for. Coming back tomorrow for lunch before we head home to Cincy

Google
Fun spot for trivia. Great food. My burger was the best tasting I've had in Akron. For the first time visiting, it was amazing. Nate Did his thing. Very kind and helpful. Thank you and keep it up.

Went in and spent 18$ and the next day I was charged 30$ and told me it was cover charge when I called and told I was going to get it back and it has been more that 24 hours and still haven't been refunded. Highly do not recommend unless you wanna get robbed of extra money

Yelp
The food from Bob's burgers is decent. It's a decent place to hang out if loud music is your thing.

Yelp
Let me say that Rucker has made Bobs Burgers one of the best in Ohio! No cap their burgers are made well without holding back on toppings or cheese he is an artist and the staff has followed suit. I know it's a bar but it could easily be a restaurant with the Quality of Food not just the award winning burgers but the food #PEOPLEZ330 approved

Yelp
Ray's is a great neighborhood bar in Highland Square. There is a great feel here because they keep the front garage type doors open when it's nice and they lead to an awesome patio overlooking Market street. Drinks are affordable and the crowd is a great mixture of people of all ages. Everyone seems to generally be in a good mood here. Wednesday's are trivia night. Jeopardy isn't beating down my door but it's always great to sneak out for a few drinks and trying to take down the competition.

Yelp
I have told EVERYONE I know not to go to this bar ... I've posted on FB, Instagram and I'm contacting the BBB. The bartenders and the manager were rude - extremely poor customer service.. One bartender in particular made an accusation that a drink was thrown on her and she accused a person that wasn't even there when this "assault" happened. She refused to listen to the person she accused and her 3 friends that were with her. No one not even the manager would verify this accusation...Instead he said he believed his bartender (who to me look quite alebriated) and claimed he had video footage- I asked if I could see this video... If they actually had it- I knew it wasn't going to show the person they were accusing but instead the drunk bartender deservingly getting doused with what she's been drinking all night! Needless to say- the video never appeared.

Yelp
I'm so disappointed in the service I've received tonight. If I could give this establishment 0 stars I would. First of all, I went to get drinks and I closed my tab. The bar patron was extremely nonchalant and virtually unfriendly, I guess because I closed my tab and only got two drinks. In addition, my family was asked nicely to not bring backpacks by a young black gentleman worker. There's no signs at the establishment and other patrons had their backpacks. I told him how there were no signs, other tables had backpacks and I offered for my bag to be searched. Nevertheless, my family returned the backpacks to our respective cars to be respectful. The black gentleman went to the other tables on the patio to tell them the same thing. The bar owner felt the need to come up to me and say the same thing. To which I replied, there's no sign, the other gentleman already came and told me, and I offered for my bag to be searched. The bar owner said that he had issues with patrons bringing outside liquor into his establishment. I understand that. But to be profiled was absolutely ridiculous. The bar owner said that it was okay for me to have the bag today but in the future it's not acceptable. I'm a frontline worker, a travel nurse, just returning from a COVID assignment in NYC. I can pay my bill no issues and I did so. My cousin and I went to talk to the owner respectfully to which he replied, "You don't know what I'm up against. I'm not having this conversation!" And stormed off. To be a bar owner and to be unable to communicate with folks of different cultures is not acceptable in 2020. I'm making sure that all black and brown folks know that this place is not open to our kind. I will be sure to take my business to Mr. Zub's from this point forward

Yelp
First time grabbing dinner at Ray's Pub...but it DEFINITELY won't be the last! Started with the horsey-hot boneless wings...tender and juicy on the inside, crispy on the outside, tossed in a unique horseradish/mustard sauce that was just the right amount of "hot"! Next up were burgers and fries! YUM The burgers all featured two, 4 ounce patties perfectly cooked and served on light, fluffy brioche buns with a large variety of specialty toppings. Two hands definitely required! The accompanying side of fries was hot, crispy, and delicious (you can get them plain or with Cajun seasoning)! Ray's does not have servers...you simply step up to the end of the bar and place your order...kitchen staff is beyond friendly and helpful and made several great suggestions to this first-timer! The beer selection at Ray's is expansive and prices are quite reasonable. Give it a try for dinner or a late night nosh...you won't regret it!
