I can’t speak to the service or atmosphere. I ordered my New Years Day good luck meal via Uber Eats. Ray’s did NOT disappoint! Almost as good as mama’s (couldn’t make it to her house this year). The black eyed peas had a very slight sweetness that made them delicious and the collards were spot on. Cornbread had crispy edges and teensy bit of sweetness. Mac n Cheese and fried okra completed the meal with what may have been the stars of the show. Ya’ll! Don’t hesitate to order from here. Kisses to the chef. Great soul food and excellent customer service. Very nice and attentive. Food tastes like grandma and grandpa was battling for best chef. Everything was so delicious.

I have had Rays quite a few times and always loved it and raved about how good the food is but I went in on yesterday 9/25/25 at 4:43pm. I got home and started to eat and the vegetables were horrible. Everything tasted burnt or old. I ordered a 2 meat combo with rib tips and chicken tenders with 7 cheese mac n cheese and baked beans. I also ordered a three veggie plate with fried cabbage, fried corn, and yams. I also ordered the vanilla pound cake. The entire order cost me $39.27 and I wish I could dispute the charge because it was truly a waste of my money. At least I was able to eat my meat because it was the only part of the meal that was worth it. At this point I don’t know if I will go back. I don’t know what or who changed in there but I don’t like wasting my money and I was very unhappy with my meal.

My husband and I visited Ray’s Southern Food for the first time, and they absolutely hit the mark in every area—customer service, cleanliness, and taste. The owner was very personable, and the staff was attentive and thorough. They were knowledgeable about the menu and carefully reviewed our order with us to ensure it was 100% accurate. They explained this is their standard practice so any issues can be resolved before guests leave—because we all know how frustrating it is to get home and realize your order is wrong. The staff wore gloves, hair nets, and beard nets, which we really appreciated. Most importantly, the food was delicious—well cooked and seasoned to perfection. We will definitely be back.

First time and we will be back! One of the better spots in forest Park. Definitely needed some gravy for the turkey wings but they were very tender. Candy Yams was my favorite 😍

O... M... GEEEE!!! WHERE has this hidden gem been!?! I was in search for some BBQ. When I found this place online, it had excellent reviews about the macaroni and cheese, the black eyed peas and other vegetables. I also was in search for some veggies. I next checked to see what type health score rating they had, and it was an A, so I was convinced to give it a try. I called to see what meats were available, and right away the gentlemen sent me a link to check for myself. Quite impressive I must say that process was! The staff appeared to be very friendly. The young lady who took my order, NyNy was AWESOME. Watching how she dealt with other patrons, if she was in a private dining restaurant, I am certain she would be earning a lot of tips. I must honestly say I am very picky about my macaroni and cheese, and they get a pass. I like my noodles more al dente, but I enjoyed it. The collard greens and black eyed peas were great. Especially those black eyed peas. I also ordered a 2 bones rib sandwich. The ribs were good. I tried the mild sauce. Next time I will try the jerk sauce if BBQ jerk. I gave for stars on the service because I wished my vegetables portion was more. Maybe had I eaten in it would have been. But everything was very tasty. My sister and I visited Atlanta a couple of weeks ago and wanted to indulge in comfort food and Ray’s definitely hit the spot! Their Fried Whiting might be the best I have had. Aside from their tasty food, the owner was a true example of Southern Hospitality and deserves nothing but good to come his way! Thank you 🙏🏻

This is my first time here and I found it by stumbling upon it when searching for food. Walking in I was greeted with a sensational smell of the South. My friend and I ordered the dark meat lunch meal with green beans. The flavor was absolutely astonishing and unexpected for the price. If this place was closer to me I would eat here everyday most likely. and I will definitely return -- worth going out of the way for the food here!

Future Airiel!!! Listen up! Do NOT Order the chicken wings cause they are the big ones. You love the fried fish, every side, and sweet potato pie they have prepared for, but you will be mad when you open their well pack Uber order and you see those fat wings. To others reading if big fat thick wings is your thing these will definitely satisfy your fried chicken crave as they are seasoned to perfection.

I ordered Sr. Rip Tips, with greens and mac and cheese. It was hella good!!!!! I ordered online, and food was ready on time. Gentlemen who checked me out greeted me with a nice smile and a great personality. Will be coming back!!

There was a really long wait for our food on a Saturday night around 6:30pm. We decided to dine inside and were happy with the cleanliness, TVs and overall feel of the space. When the food came it was hit or miss: some items were piping hot and some were cold. We ordered some of everything and the favorites were the yams and chicken. Other items might have been better had they been hot. I felt the Mac and cheese wasn't cheesy enough and I also didn't like the texture of the cornbread-oily, yet dry. They did apologize for the long wait. They also let us know they do a brunch buffet on Saturday, so maybe that's worth coming back for. I ate the sweet potato pie for breakfast in the morning and it was good.

So I'm working in the area today and looked this place up. I came and I tried and I can say I liked. Everything was seasoned to perfection and everyone was very helpful and nice. The atmosphere is family friendly and you can eat inside. I will most definitely be back. The punch was good and not too sweet.

Now! Before I give you my full review, allow me to say, I LOVE BARBEQUE!!!!! During my friend's day we decided to try a new restaurant. Upon executing a search on Yelp we decided to try out Ray's. Ray's sits in a huge strip mall. When you pull in the restaurant is to the far right hand side. Don't do what I did and go to the left. LoL! Walking up to Ray's you realize it is hugeeeee. There are two entrances. One brings you into the dining side and one brings you to the order area. Regardless of which door you walk in it's all connected... As I got to the register, the man in front of me told the cashier "let me get my usual!" This was a great sign for me as it shows that he is a repeat customer. To say I was excited is an understatement. LoL! Taking a moment to take in the menu and the assortment of options I decided on the Ribs Dinner with One Side. After placing our order we took a seat, not before taking pictures with the Ray's sign so I could let everyone know I was here. LoL!!!! The wait wasn't too long as before I knew it the waitress called my name and was bringing the order to the table. Looking at the plate I was pleased with the presentation and serving size. I asked for my sauce on the side as I like to see how the ribs taste without sauce first. The Ribs: Moist. Meaty. Well seasoned. Perfectly made. Good quality. Very filling. Overall 10/10. The Sauce: (I ordered the Mild) Flavorful. Not "bottled." Thick. Perfect hint of sweet to pair with the natural salt of the pork. Overall 10/10. The Yams: The yams weren't bad. You could taste the "canned" flavor, however, you could also taste the added flavorings that are presented to give the taste of homemade. Overall 6/10. My experience at Ray's was absolutely enjoyable. The ribs alone provide for a flavor filled, stomach pleasing experience that makes you want to come back. **Oh yeah, I didn't get to try the mini sweet potato pie, however, it was calling my name. I'll be getting it next time. HaHa!!

The food is good. And the service is nice. however they have downsized the portion of the meals. i used to get a plate full of food. But my visit today has shown me that they have definitely cut back on the portion they give you

Be ready to be welcomed with warm smiles, and helpful staff. I can't say the food was super amazing but very filling and there was a very large menu, so I feel that I may need to try again. My sister brought me here. She told me about the place because she comes often. It definitely felt like a hidden gem. I got the beef tips over rice with color greens, potato salad, and baked beans my sister, that the smoked wings with the same sides. For me, it lacked flavor with the beef tips, collard greens, and potato salad and the beans just weren't sweet enough for my preference. I loved how they had a daily special on their meals and the portion sizes were large. It gave homemade barbecue with how the barbecue sauces tasted. One thing that I really did enjoy was the house maid lemonade I can tell they really made it. The food came out fast and even though it was to go, it was brought to us and I really liked that. Again, the staff was amazing and helpful and with such a large menu, I feel like there's an opportunity for me to try this place again, and actually get the complete experience I was looking for!

Friendly service but the food was lackluster. My group tried a little bit of everything. The pork was bland and the chicken was a little dry too. The okra was okay and so were the candied yams. Really nothing special about the food.

I was in the mood for southern fried chicken, so I decided to try Ray's. This restaurant specializes in barbecue, so I explored the menu. I ordered the fried chicken wings (which were jumbo size and a meal in themselves), ribs, brisket and smoked sausage; for sides I ordered collard greens, macaroni and cheese, and cornbread. The fried wings were exceptional, and the ribs and smoked sausage was very good. I wasn't a huge fan of the brisket. The collard greens were the pinnacle of comfort food. The macaroni and cheese had good flavor, but I ordered the food close to closing, and the macaroni and cheese was a bit congealed. The flavor was good, but the texture was not. I think the macaroni and cheese would have been great if it was fresh. The cornbread was delicious. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. This is a great place to try if you're craving southern comfort food or barbecue. This restaurant is not too far from the airport, and the prices are very affordable.

You walk in and immediately place order and pay. Be sure to know what you want before walking up. This place gets busy! They do have 7-8 tables. There is another room full of tables but for some reason they keep those doors closed. Once they call your name, you pick up your tray with food. We got the 3 meats with two sides combo. We picked brisket, sausage, rib tips, coleslaw and baked beans. For our bread we picked corn bread. Since we will be flying out of town in a few hours, we went with a mild bbq sauce. I love spicy food but it doesn't love me back. In less than 10 minutes we got our food. I was a little insulted that they only provided one fork...did they really think that I was going to eat this mountain of food by myself? 3 meats was way too much food for 2 people. It tasted great and I felt bad about throwing any of it away. I especially liked the baked beans. The restrooms were clean and I really liked the family pics on the walls. My wife wanted me to give this place a 5, but the guy taking orders wasn't the friendliest and the ambiance could have been better.

Best kept soul food secret in town! I live in the area and have driven by this plaza multiple times. So thankful to my friend for suggesting we try this restaurant for Friday lunch. As we reviewed the menu deciding what to order, the owner overheard me tell my friend "You can't go to a soul food restaurant and not try the macaroni and cheese!" So, the owner came out with two samples in our hand to try and it passed the taste test! The pork chop, 7 cheese southern macaroni and cheese, and green beans were winners. My friend also enjoyed his meal. Definitely try the chocolate chip pecan cookie for dessert! I also sampled the salmon chowder which warmed my soul and tastebuds. There's ample free parking in the shopping plaza lot. The restaurant has ample seating and even an area to hold a private event. There's large tv screens to enjoy. The staff are very pleasant. I hope this business is supported and stays around for the long-haul. Ray's Southern Food is my new to-go spot for comfort soul food!

I am staying in an Air BNB in Morrow, GA and wanted some soul food on Sunday 9/10/23. Based on the reviews Rays was it. The customer service was lacking though as it took me an hour to get my order when I walked in and placed it after not being able to call it in or order online. Service: The person who took my order was professional and efficient. But, the service staff didn't seem to care about the wait as I heard one of them tell a customer who inquired about her order that "20 minutes ain't a long time" as if to dismiss her concern about the time as nothing. What he should have said was something like "sorry for the wait Ma'am, but we are a bit busy and will get your order out as soon as possible." The Food: the collards were good. The ribs were good but the rib tips were dry. The brisket was good. The chicken was a mix. Some was regular sized normal chicken like the breast/wing we got, but the legs and thighs were not right. They had to be GMO as the legs and thighs looked like turkey parts. Please don't serve me that without a disclaimer! The 7 cheese Mac n cheese was ok. It had a funny lemon pepper type of seasoning and not really cheesy enough, but passed. The BBQ sauce was good and the cornbread was good but my wife said could be a little sweeter. I might give them another shot when I want some soul food, but it's not a given. They have to tighten things up.

Found this jewel on Yelp!!! Walked in to a very friendly atmosphere!!! Football on the tv!! The church crowd not here yet. Asked another customer what was good here and he said EVERYTHING!!! So my hubby ordered liver and onions and I got the vegetable plate!!! Honest to goodness it tasted like I was at a family reunion!!! So delicious, everything perfectly seasoned, no salt and pepper needed. Of course we got homemade banana pudding for dessert. Absolutely insanely good. We will be back!!! Sorry you weren't here!!!

Food was delicious. We had a group of 12 and ordered a large number of menu items. No one was disappointed, and we all had leftovers. Pork chop was fried to perfection with the right taste and consistency . All the vegetable sides were scrumptious. The salmon and shrimp was unmatched. Service was great. All the staff was accommodating. The ambiance reminded me of one of those down home Restaurants. Will definitely return

The food is seasoned well. The staff is friendly. This is my Sunday go to place. The establishment is very clean and there's plenty of free parking.

Drinks: They do not offer cocktails. I might just get a juice or water instead. Service: When I first walk in, I am greeted by the same person that takes my order. She is always so upbeat, patient, and ready to serve. For an indecisive person like me that means a lot. Food: I always get the senior wing plate with a side of a macaroni and cheese, candy yams, and vegetarian, baked beans. For a sweet treat, I get sweet potato pie. The chicken as always fried to perfection, and not too salty, even when mixed with barbecue. The macaroni and cheese is very cheesy and delicious. The candied yams are always good as well. I love that the baked beans are vegetarian because I have a hefty meal. The sweet potato pies are maybe palm size and very delectable. Decor: I always get takeout and sit in the car while waiting for my food. They are tables if you are interested in a dine in setting. It is a good size and never TOO many people were you feel uncomfortable to eat.

The brisket was really good. Service has a very southern feel to it and there was plenty of seating.

I hosted a birthday party at Ray's Southern Foods last weekend. I want to say that the service was absolutely outstanding. They were so accommodating to our party and the food was a 10 out of 10. I recommend anyone and everyone that wants some great soul food with excellent service to come and eat at Ray's. I will be back to eat here again, very soon. Monica

This place never misses. The only thing is the Mac and cheese noodles are always over cooked. Their meats are amazing and all other sides are on point. Hold the Mac if you go here, unless you like purée.

Wonderful food served hot shrimp with grits's just wonderful. Meat lovers omelette with corn fantastic.

This was our first visit to this business. We ordered a whiting plate, catfish plate, wings plate, greens, Mac and cheese, blackeye peas, fried okra, greens, potato salad, Brunswick stew, and banana pudding. Everything we ordered was very good. The staff was very friendly which was an added bonus. The order was made online and the order was correct. I did not check it. We will definitely be back.

A decent menu they have. Good pork chops, good fried drums, definitely great ribs. The Chopped Pork sandwich was a bit of a letdown, but the turkey wings were delicious as they're a healthy choice. Added to "MUTHAFUCKIN DELICIOUS" list.

I have to say I am underwhelmed with my visit here. I came because of the reviews, but I didn't really enjoy the food. The sides were absolutely horrible. I had the Mac and cheese, fried cabbage, and rib tips. The Mac and cheese was so gummy and lacked flavor. I couldn't eat it. The noodles were way over cooked. The fried cabbage was salty. The rib tips was the only thing that was good, and the medium bbq sauce was the bomb. The corn bread muffin was delicious. I also had Ray's punch it was delicious. It tastes like a mixture of grapefruit and other fruit flavors. The banana pudding was just ok. I did ask for a sample of the chowder. It was really good. I drove from Jonesboro/Stockbridge so I pass by lots of other establishments to get here. The service was average. I probably won't go out of my way to come back. UPDATE: I did go back about two weeks after my first visit . Couldn't get that salmon chowder and Ray's punch off my mind so I had to get more. I don't know what they put in that damn salmon chowder but it's beyond delicious . The flavors are out of this world on this food item.

The liver an onions was so good I definitely recommend it to anyone it was fresh with rice and gravy loved it I thought my grandma made it for me. It Was on Sunday too ,I passed this other place but I actually will be going back. I live in Gwinnett county worth my ride. I wish I would have gotten my banana pudding and the tea was sweet love it again.The service was awesome too get there early

This is what real soul food is about! Everything was amazing. Ray and Ray Jr. take pride in their food and are eager to share their latest creations with free samples. It was hard to pick. The ribs and smoked chicken wings were as good as any bbq I've had. The jerk bbq sauce is special! The fried catfish nuggets were amazingly crispy, yet tender. The sides!!!! The sides!!!! I tried collards, fried cabbage, potato salad, lobster chowder and the mac and cheese is the best I've ever had! Ray's Punch is like a pineapple had a love child with an orange creamsicle. Ray, you're my new best friend. I'll be back and bring some friends.

Food was so yummy, loved the cornbread. Lots of space for kids to stretch out while waiting for food. My kids are now obsessed with sweet tea!

Delicious BBQ! Husband and I split the 2 meat plate and it was way more food than we could both eat. The brisket was some of the best I'd ever had. We ate inside, not a ton of tables but we really vibed with the family feel of the decor.

I had high hopes for this restaurant. I went here on a Sunday and I must say I was disappointed. The whole fried wings were hot and fresh but had no flavor. I also tried their ribs and I was not impressed at all, lack in flavor. The collard greens was bland as well, the dressing was decent but again everything was bland, nothing special at all. I noticed a soul food restaurant across the street call Johns Fine Food that was packed, I will give them a try next time in that area. Any good soul food restaurants in ATLANTA?????

This isn't my first time visiting, I am glad we came back here the mac and cheese is so good!!!! And my dressing was the bomb!!! I forgot to take a pic of my meal because I ate it so fast.. but next time I come here I will for sure take a picture of my food.

The ribs the ribs the ribs! That's it the review lol! The service was great, the man that took my order was friendly and gave me great suggestions. The ribs were flavorful and I liked the bbq sauce. I didn't care for my sides though. I got the Mac and yams. The yams tasted water logged and you can taste the can flavor.

I ordered a lot of food and I was shocked and appalled. The catfish was good! Ribs not tender at all, BBQ sauce was good! Dressing had a weird taste as well as the baked beans, I wouldn't force that on my enemy. Ordered potato salad that was more like mashed potatoes! I ordered a lot of food and gave it all away, except for the catfish!

Great service and food. We were greeted upon arrival by a friendly lady who explained the menu options and answered our questions. All orders are made to go so we waited in our car until the food was ready. The food was hot and delicious. Definitely a great spot for soul food.

Definitely worth the try.. Banana Pudding was soooo goof. I would definitely get that again.. The customer services at this establishment is out of this world . I love love love this !! She offered me to sample the Mac n cheese . Y'all that Mac n cheese is nasty lol you can taste a sour taste I'm assuming it's sour cream but it was weird . It's a hard no for me The baked beans yams and cabbage was delicious as fuck. I hate banana pudding that have WAYYYYY more cookies than the actual pudding . Am I eating banana cookie cake or banana pudding ???? You can tell it have potential unfortunately I could barley taste the pudding because it was packed with vanilla wafers and the cream. I feel like you guys should offer 2 banana puddings with less vanilla wafers and the one you sell originally I had a chopped chicken sandwich with barbecue sauce and lawd have Mercy! It was delicious. Overall I'll give them a 4. One point for the nasty mad n cheese and over filled vanilla wafers in the banana pudding.

I've ate here a handful of times and everything has been consistently great. I love the Turkey wings, rib tips and chicken. Prices are pretty good as well.

One of the best spots to eat from!!! I order on uber eats but they still prepare my order with love. The food is actually tasty and matches the portion matches the price. I literally just placed another order again today... yummy!

The food was top notch. I found this place out of the blue and am very happy I did. Our order was taken by one of the owners, Daniel. Such a nice guy and was genuinely happy we came by. The people in line in front of us seemed excited to be there and loved telling us their favorite things to order. I will be back!

A Southside Hidden Gem! 5/5 Stars -- Here's Why: Atmosphere/Vibe: This is definitely a family run restaurant -- but that's not a bad thing. Every time we come in, it feels like a family reunion at my grandma's house. Parking: This place is located in a shopping center style set up. Parking is pretty good. Customer Service: Similar to what I mentioned above, the people that work at Ray's are just like family -- they greet you upon entry and make sure you know exactly what specials they have going on that day. They even let you sample new items or items you've never had before. Food: ALWAYS FRESH. No matter the day, time or amount of food I order, it's always fresh! With such a large menu you literally can eat this place for a week straight and not have to eat the same thing.

Everything was good except my.green beans they tasted like pored out a can but warmed on my take out order. The other times that I visited the establishment, everything was delicious.

Where do I start... Upon entering I was greeted with beautiful funny Costa, who took my order and should I say got it correctly, yaaassss!!! That's a biggie in my book. Then I was greeted with Mr. Daniel Jr. He has a wonderful persona that's to be admired in the food industry. Now on with the food... OMG Everything is sooooo good, anything you order, you will not be disappointed. I drive way from the backwoods of McDonough to come get this delicious food. The brisket has a nice flavor and char; liver & onions, very tender, you don't need any teeth, lol; the fried chicken is lip smacking delicious, love the spices. Oh the meat loaf, smh very moist and flavorful (my only smirk is it is brown gravy and I grew up on tomato gravy. I broaden my horizon and tried the brown and it's not to disappoint.) Lastly, I got salmon chowder (not pictured) my my my it is deliciosos. Bottom line come get you some awesome tasty food.
