"Highland Park hasn’t seen a place like RBTA in a long time. The narrow, colorful restaurant feels at once bright and compact, with locals and tourists tucking in elbow-to-elbow for skewers made fresh behind the glass in the kitchen. If anything, the best seats in the whole place may well be at the compact stools in the back, catching the flaming action in all its glory." - Farley Elliott, Crystal Coser

"Just like that, another Japanese rice bowl spot launches in LA, this time as part of RBTA’s casual new lunch menu in Highland Park. The limited menu starts tomorrow with a slate of Japanese comfort dishes: katsudon, oyakodon, and unadon, all using high-end Japanese rice. RBTA’s also throwing in a nice Hakata-style ramen bowl for $10 with a slow-cooked tonkotsu broth." - Matthew Kang

So tasty! Started with the curry rice balls, then two skewers of mushrooms, the scallops, unagi fried rice, and the special baby barracuda. Everything was great. We sat by the grill so we could watch everything being cooked, best seats in the house. Asahi on tap, so happy. Definitely going back soon.

The food was fine, but not outstanding. It is izakaya inspired, but with the very limited menu options I thought the selections would be more impressive. I hope they expand their skewer options. The tori karaage (fried chicken thighs) was perfectly done and by far the best item we had. The king oyster mushrooms were nice and I would order them again, but the rib eye & shiitake skewers were just so so. The unagi fried rice was good and large enough to be a meal on its own.

Excellent grill food and appetizers. Limited seating so go there during week nights. Plenty of parking in the public lot by Gold line station.

Good service but agree with the odd shape. Got bumped by servers and patrons alike. Food was good but expensive for the amount. Would be hard to have more than 6 in a group but they will reserve the area you can sit for that. Enjoyed the meats and the uni pasta but it was 20 or so for a very small portion. For the price the other dishes were better including the yuzu prawn, rib eye, bacon wrapped tomato and the chicken. Probably wouldn't come back unless someone really wanted to but for a one time experience glad to have gone.

Was pleasantly surprised by the dishes both times I went there. Will return again to sample more items. Stick with the fish. Cod is delectable; marinated and cooked to perfection. Hamachi and tuna/avocado melt in your mouth. Curry balls are delightfully crunchy and richly flavored. The seaweed salad is a nice base to return to between bites.

Good food. Super cramped, awkward dining room and odd service.

Yelp
My neighborhood sushi spot. I come here pretty often and it's consistently great food and service! This is exciting as I can walk here and don't have to drive to Little Tokyo. Fish is fresh and tasty. I like getting the Sushi box for 2 with a date and adding the trio sashimi or a handroll. Not an extensive selection of fish, but substantial. The happy hour handroll deal is sweet too! Seating is limited inside, but plenty outside and in courtyard - heat lamps if needed. Altho the dumpsters are located nearby in the courtyard and that's not a pleasant thing in the summer. My only suggestion is I wish they were open until 10. I feel patrons would enjoy the dining experience more (and drink more:)

Yelp
Food is 8 or 9/10 1 star is for the service employees were taking up 4 of the sushi bar seats didn't offer to move for customers they let two singles take up two seats each then didn't clean up the counter before seating us to dine it was gross and made everyone feel awkward

Yelp
This review is for the service, not the food. This was our first time here and we were really excited to come, we ordered and over 40 mins passed and no sign of our food. Even couple of the table next to us was concerned about our food. I had to go inside and ask them to pack up our order cause we had to leave. We changed our minds and decided to stay, I let the waitress know and she was super snarky. She proceeded to attend to others and took her sweet time to get our food, so she decided to leave and asked her to pack everything up for us. She was super snarky and rude, even sighed out loud. Took literally like 20 more minutes to get our food and check. We decided not to tip because we received horrible service and didn't feel like any tip was deserved, she had the audacity to ask us why we didn't tip! Our food was packed with no utensils, soy sauce or even napkins. This whole experience was just one of the worst we've ever had anywhere to be honest. It's such a shame because we've heard amazing things about this place and the food actually quite good. Very disappointing.

Yelp
No frills, just basic sushi cut and hand rolls in Highland Park area. They also have weekday lunch specials. I'll have to come back another time to try.

Lizzie L.

Yelp
Had seen this place a couple times and came in a Friday dinner, other places were full to the brim and this spot had space. Should have been my first clue. Food was bleh. No real flavor and the hot food was lukewarm warm. The servers scoop the miso soup which was weird. Service was deplorable. It felt like I was bothering them for water/napkins/wasabi. If I had gotten them on the outset I would have not had to ask in the first place. They are cashless so you don't get a bill they just take your credit card without an opportunity to review the bill. They stand there with the terminal to ensure a 20%, otherwise it's super awkward. Don't do it.

Yelp
it was a thursday. i told my boyfriend i wanted sushi and i thought he was going to bring me to a neighborhood spot in a strip mall. he brought me here and told me this IS our *neighborhood sushi spot* which makes me a lucky girl to have him and to have ichijiku (but mostly ichijiku lolol) the restaurant is tiny - only bar seats indoors and a backyard courtyard. lots of takeout orders. but the sushi is fressshhhhh, like giving 'flown in from japan this morning.' you can order most items as nigiri, hand rolls, or cut rolls. i am a cut roll baby and they come in 4s, so a small serving, but quality. the vegan sushi (beet and tofu "cream cheese") was ??? on paper but delicious in my belly we got the uni special, sashimi platter, and wagyu too. boyfriend needed like 14 more .dishes than me but he was satisfied and we left with having spent ~$100. they have box sets for 1 or 2 people as well something interesting is that i didn't see a dessert menu; maybe they don't do dessert which i kinda respect. but i could've done a black sesame ice cream scoop to round out the night next door is the arroyo club which just opened... ;)

Yelp
We were having some happy hour drinks around the area & decided to try this small sushi bar since there was no waiting and this place is very small. Over all it hit the spot that night !

Yelp
I really wanted to like this place and the food was good. However, there was something that happened that simply did not let me have peace in giving them 5 stars (please take a look at my other reviews, I dole 5 stars as the default, and I am an easy to please customer, so it is nearly impossible for me to give anything lower than 5 or 4, unless the circumstances merit it). I came here on Valentine's Day and upon entering, the bartender/server was taking care of some customers. I wasn't greeted but that is normal, since the poor lady was juggling a lot of stuff. After around 5 minutes of waiting, I see that there is a small table available by the window and decided to sit there, so that I could let her know that I wanted to eat. She then grabs a phone call, and, phone in hand, rushes to the area where I am sitting, goes over me without greeting me or even acknowledging me, and starts talking on the phone to someone about how there is still one table available. After she was done with the call, I asked her if I could please have a table, and she gave me a pen and paper and told me to write down my name and number and let me know that they would call me when a table was available. Mind you, she did tell me that wait time was around 45 minutes, and she told me this at 8pm, (they close at 9pm). My friend was 15 minutes late but as soon as she arrived, I told her and she went in and got the same spiel from the lady. I saw the couple that she was talking on the phone with (their call came in around 3 or 4 minutes after I had entered the restaurant, so I was technically first in line) get to the restaurant around 10 minutes after my friend and I had arrived and talked to her a couple of times, and sit in the very same table that was avalilable, and that I was sitting on, waiting for the lady to acknowledge me so that she could please take my order and my friend's order. My friend and I were waiting outside in the cold for around 45 minutes, when another lady from the business next door came out, and in the most polite, friendly and approachable way asked us what we were waiting for. I told her "Ichijiku" and she said that they operate on a first-come-first-served basis, and not on a waiting list. I told her that I had already been waiting outside for 45 minutes, even though I had arrived on time, and when there was a table available and she immediately went inside to talk to the other lady. At around 9:10pm, after the restaurant had already closed and the table was finally vacant, they let us in, took our order and served us. Up until this point, the lady had been super rude and condescending with me, but maybe talking to the 2nd lady that came to check up on us and sharing with her the situation, caused her to go inside and have a chat with her. I ended up spending over 100 dollars, and leaving a 20% tip but despite that, I do not plan on coming back. My dignity and being treated with respect and kindness (same way that I always try to treat others) is worth more than the best sushi in the world (granted, they have pretty good sushi, but I don't know if I'd call it "the best in the world". Still pretty fantastic, tho). Anyays, after over 4 years on Yelp, here is my measly 3rd review in which I am forced to leave one star.

Peter T.

Yelp
OK, let me start by saying, I truly love eating here generally speaking, and I've spent a lot of money in this place, over the last couple years. So it bothers me to have to write this. I drove way across town to go here tonight, and when I arrived, which was well before close, it was quite busy for sure (they don't take reservations). But they put me on the waitlist and told me it would be about 20 minutes. I waited outside on the sidewalk for longer- about 30. Then I was told that the restaurant would be closing soon, so they wouldn't be able to seat me and I could get a to go order if I wished. I don't want a to go order. I want to be seated like you told me I would be seated a half an hour ago. If you make a customer wait for 30 minutes, sorry you should seat them NO MATTER WHAT and if it means staying open a little later, that's just the way it goes. It's the SERVICE industry. Now you've got a pissed off customer that is damn hungry, you wasted my time- I have spent literally thousands in your restaurant - and I'm not very happy with you at all. LAME. I still love your restaurant so I'm giving you two stars instead of one.

Annette A.

Yelp
The ambiance is a 4.5/5, it was so cozy and my bf and I were sat by the window which I l o v e d. We order the hand-roll set and the fish was so fresh and buttery! The seaweed was soggy and chewy... I really wanted to love this place but maybe I'll give it another shot if they switched to warm crispy seaweed like Kazu or yuonmi.

Danielle L.

Yelp
I love this spot for a causal yummy dinner. The fish is always so fresh. Great price! Love everything in the menu. Best sushi ever.

Thessa V.

Yelp
The chances of me coming back to try this place is very unlikely, for reasons I will list below. HOWEVER, I do think that this place is cute and HP doesn't have a bustling sushi scene, so A for effort on making a cute establishment like this. If you're not a sushi snob and up to see it for yourself, give it a whirl, it's not awful. As a sushi lover I think the menu isn't exciting but the offerings work. However, most of the fish seemed a little dry and the rice was a caloric filler, and not a partner. The service was embarrassing, there were 2 servers behind the bar and we ordered the dinner set- not only did they not make sure I had the right stuff to dine (chopsticks, soy sauce lid, napkin), they also kept doing this thing where they dropped off the food without explaining the line up. I know my sushi enough to know the ch-toro isn't salmon-- but come on. Sake option was a match to the sushi- simple, limited, and no secret combination to unlock a different expectation. I left feeling not pleased with my life choices. And like I said, unlikely to come back. But if you're new to the area or the food, and can handle mediocrity, this is a good try.

Aiden L.

Yelp
Very good all around. Got the deluxe sushi box and it was quite a bit of food. Added a blue crab hand roll. Wow. Food was good, ambiance is nice. No complaints. It's a bit expensive but I think the fish is phenomenal. Can't wait to come back.

Yelp
Came here around 8ish and we sat outside in the back ... mind you the entrance in back is only accessible if you park in back ...it's tricky to find ... They do have an entrance in front by they open in the evenings only... A Cordial hipster waitress tends to us; 1 seaweed salad - love it 5.00 1 nakazuke pickles - 6.00 GOTTA GET THIS Ordered some hot house SAKE... I'm not fancy... ok maybe two hot sake total... $16.00 2 blue crab hand roll - show stopper ! We're just getting warmed up $16.00 1 baked crab 8.00 1 spicy tuna 8.00 we shared this... love this stuff Nigiri: 1 sweet shrimp 9.00 2 yellowtail nigiri 14.00 - fresh and liking to taste 2 salmon 14.00 - same fresh and salmony 2 otoro - $30.00 - this was fancy but worth it 2 uni nigiri - 18.00 - melt in your mouth 2 salmon roe - 18.00 - salty and tasty 2 tamago - 12.00 nice 2 side rice - still hungry - 6.00 233.12 w tip included Not cheap It would of been fine except I had to deal with a transient person who just let herself in through the back ... so I told her I gave her $20 last time Which I had the last time she appeared outside civil coffee ; also in back when sitting outside So maybe to avoid this kind of thing; just sit inside This neighborhood gets a little shady at night So be careful in and out of your car Hate to write about thiszzz But thems the facts Hopefully this problem will be solved soon in Los Ángeles... in the meantime ... Stay tolerant ; patient; but don't stay indoors Get out there; it's gonna be alright I got faith Fish was fantastic I'd give it 5 stars but the incident dropped it down one...

jessica s.

Yelp
Sat down they weren't busy at all. Took 10 min for someone to notice we hadn't ordered. Miso soups came and we had to ASK for spoons The server gave us attitude about that for some reason .. anddd said "we only have one spoon left" - like what?! So one of us is supposed to drink from the bowl?! Eventually she brought another spoon. My soy sauce bowl had a piece of hair in it. Seaweed was chewy - I'm not a picky person at all So food and service terrible, just a nice ambiance & that's as best as it gets here. Sucks because I was excited to try it

Yelpsux G.

Yelp
With respect to sushi, I don't care about ambiance or the drinks or location or anything except one thing: The sushi. Though the ambiance at this small, attractive sushi bar in Highland Park on Figueroa is great, the fish is what I'm after. I don't know if you're like me but most sushi joints in Highland Park/South Pasadena/Pasadena leave me a little unimpressed. I don't bother to write reviews about them because they're all mostly just meh. But Ichijiku is pretty damn good. And that's about as high a praise as I give these days. Got a few rolls, some soup and some rice. Everything was fresh and tasty as top quality sushi should be. On this side of town, it's rivaling Sushi Nakata in Monrovia and it's beating it in terms of proximity to me. So, Ichijiku is about to become my go to sushi joint.

Elsa F.

Yelp
Delicious food and superb service! A must go to spot! Love the outdoor dining experience too!

Sooki L.

Yelp
We had not eaten all day and we both thought the rolls sucked. Nigiri was decent, but the worst was the service, or lack there of. If you don't have customer service skills, maybe being a server shouldn't be your job. Will never go back.

Viviana H.

Yelp
Ichijiku Sushi in Highland Park is a gem! The sushi was incredibly fresh. The menu offered a great selection of rolls and sashimi, and the flavors were exquisite. The drink menu is also great! The ambience outdoors is great, loved it, however service was a bit slow I only saw one waitress so expect a wait on a busy night. Other than that I'd definitely recommend Ichijiku Sushi for sushi enthusiasts looking for a top-notch meal in Highland Park.

Navid N.

Yelp
The lobster role isn't made with real lobster. It's made with langostino aka squat lobster. The taste is very clearly discernible. The FDA prohibits the unqualified marketing of langostino as lobster. Even though I would rate them highly for other items, this deceptive practice is unacceptable

Kelsey M.

Yelp
By far our favorite sushi in the neighborhood. My husband and I always get the Omakase box for two - exceptional quality, decent price, it's a no brainer. Most of the seating is outside so be prepared on chilly nights and service is a little slower out there.

Griffin S.

Yelp
Chaos was in the air the minute we walked in. Things were getting spilled, customers were loudly asking for refills, vagrants were roaming the restaurant asking for change, and the tension between staff members was thick. So first off, moments after we get there, a waitress spills a few drinks on the grounds. No big deal, shit happens, but the vibe was just... off. Based off the reaction from some of the customers and other staff, we immediately got the impression that this was just one in a string of incidents that had been going on all night. Then after taking a seat and ordering our food, we overhear another customer asking to borrow the soy sauce from another table because the waitress she had just asked for a refill told her they were out of soy sauce. A minute or two after that an unhoused lady begins meandering through the restaurant asking for change to buy a cup of coffee (it's about 8pm btw) It only takes them a few minutes to get our order out to us and everything tastes pretty good. Nothing crazy but all hitting the spot. Then just a minute or two after we finish, another waitress brings us our order - our actual order... we had been brought the wrong food the first time around and never having eaten there before we just didn't think to question it! We felt awful for eating someone else's food but the waitress assured us it wasn't our fault. We then ate our actual order and again, pretty good but nothing spectacular. Shouts out to the waitress who looked like she was doing double-time to straighten out the madness and keep everybody happy. While we ended up lucking out with double sushi, the atmosphere was awkward to say the least. However, it definitely seemed like it may have just been an off night and I'd gladly come back for a roll another time and try again.

Yelp
Great sushi place with wonderful staff! I came on a Saturday night and there were seats at the sushi bar, but they do have a back patio as well. They have preset boxes if you're unsure what to set, but I ordered a La carte. Some highlights: Nukazuke was great! Not as sweet as other places, they still had a good pickle flavor. (See photo) Negitoro hand roll had great fatty tuna cuts and not too much green onion to over power the fish. This is one of my favorite rolls to order, so I'm glad they do it well here :) The omelet/tamago nigiri was also great! It wasn't too wet and had a faint yuzu taste to it. I've never had tamago like that but it was sooo good! It definitely holds its own against the fish The only complaint I would have is that the salmon skin roll was very salty, putting any soy sauce on it was unbearable but alone it was good. The skin itself wasn't too dry(other places overdo it and it gets crunchy) so you didn't really need the soy sauce anyways. Overall good service and good food, I'll be back for sure.

Marina M.

Yelp
Not a fan of their weekend afternoon/Happy Hour offerings, but the sushi is the best I've had outside of Michelin starred restaurant. Don't know where they get their fish or why it's such amazing quality compared to everything else around, but it's dreamy tasty! Tuna trio, salmon, seared salmon + Wagyu have been my go-to for years here and never disappoint. Melt-in-your-mouth goodness! Service is always good! Ambiance is mostly good unless you sit outside near the dumpsters

Lina M.

Yelp
This is not your fancy or creative menu sushi spot , rather very basic, cozy , fresh and good simple yet tasty sushi. We sat at the bar inside. The place is small and only has tables outside other than the sushi bar. We ordered deluxe sushi box for 2 , and we enjoyed it . This was plenty of food for 2 people. Service was ok. We got the food on time and overall no issues. I might go back here if I'm in the area. Parking was kind of creepy as there was a homeless tent in the lot and the people were fighting and hitting each-other by broomsticks while I was parking. I don't count this in my rating by the way , for the restaurant, as this was a public lot in the back , but just beware of your surroundings in the streets here . I liked the nigiris better than the rolls.

Martha P.

Yelp
This is a total of 3 hand rolls put together...$24. Food was underwhelming, and provided no ginger as shown in the picture. Small selection of refreshments outside of alcoholic ones. Waitress was nice but generally understaffed for a Friday evening (looked like 2 waitresses for the whole restaurant). Will not come back.

Nikki B.

Yelp
Loved the ambiance and food was amazing! Great date night spot! Service was good too :)

Vince R.

Yelp
Love this spot! Great ambience and freshly prepared sushi. Small portions allow you to sample sashimi... simple and simple and on point. Hipster sushi but I'm not mad. Enjoy!

Amanda A.

Yelp
This place is cool. They now do lunch and I stopped in for my first time. Customer service was awesome, the staff make you feel right at home and they even suggested some of their favorites to try. Would love to take my friends here!

Giani R.

Yelp
Sushi was mediocre. Service was bad. Not worth the high price at all. Better sushi/handroll spots in LA. Don't waste your time.

Arminda D.

Yelp
Finally sushi in highland park! Selection is pretty extensive even though they don't have uni. But they do have some specialty things like chutoro. The fish is super fresh and the rolls are really good. It's great to know there is a good sushi place in the neighborhood. Good sake selection even though didn't have any.

Chris P.

Yelp
Didn't even get to order. Waitstaff was incredibly condescending and acted like it was an inconvenience I was in their restaurant. Was told to sit out front for full service instead of ordering at the counter, like the signs said. Turns out the seating out in front of the restaurant is for a different place. Not sure why you would tell somebody to do that. I wasn't rude at all, just confused.

David K.

Yelp
Could've been better; horrible service and average sushi; plenty of plastic ware for the table, limited seating ... there are much better places for sushi and not have to deal with the lying wait staff.

Amanda P.

Yelp
Great quality sushi, very chill vibes with limited seating. I liked their set options, it's perfect for sharing on date night

Daverson P.

Yelp
Spent 17 dollars got 300 calories of food....Crab handroll was tasty, but the portions are egregious and laughable for the money. Would give this place $$$$ signs. Oh and they give you these puny tin cups of water and dont come around to fill them.

Mariselle M.

Yelp
This sushi spots shares it's outdoor patio w other small businesses wc enhances its neighborhood feel as your local sushi spot. It is a walk away from where we live and so we decided to give it a shot. Ordering during the pandemic we had to scan the QR code from a menu off the host station and then made our selections before self seating outside. The portions are rather small IMO considering other sushi places but are palatable and satisfying and especially enjoyable paired w a cold drink and the chill ambiance. Would suggest for a relaxed date night or catching up w close friends. Parking is via street metered unless you want to park down the block and walk it from easily accessible residential parking.

August I.

Yelp
Decided to check this place out after hearing a lot of positive reviews and am super glad I did! My girlfriend and I split the Sushi box for 2 and added a couple of the vegan rolls to try out. Everything was very fresh and delicious. Prices could be considered medium to high for a neighborhood sushi place, but for the quality of product we received I think it was very fairly priced. It's important to know that this isn't the kind of spot where you're going to get super huge rolls with a lot of extraneous toppings. I think of that as novelty sushi, and honestly sometimes I love it. Most of the time with sushi I am looking for simpler things executed very well. That's the focus at Ichijiku. If you don't care about that too much then you may feel the prices here are too high. But for people that do appreciate it, this is a great addition to the neighborhood. Always nice to share a great meal.

Elijah W.

Yelp
Great food, servers. Best atmosphere. Food is delicious. Music is cool and the room is not too loud.

Tiffany C.

Yelp
Truly a delicious neighborhood sushi spot (obviously newer) but the fact that it was one of my "need-to-go" spots before I moved out of the area says much. Solid rice and often excellent fish to rice ratio is a big reason I keep returning but it means nothing if the fish isn't fresh, as it always is! I love the salmon, yellowtail and chutoro and I do feel like their spicy rolls are balanced perfectly. I keep coming back to their yellowtail habanero and blue crab. The only complaint is the cardboard takeout boxes used which the rice sticks to, but it is what is. One day I hope to eat hand rolls onsite in the patio.

Rowan B.

Yelp
People come on Yelp to complain as catharsis. A restaurant can get repeat business but never stir the emotions so to spend the time to write and post a review. I've been a fan of the to-go sushi boxes here, which in the early days of the Covid pandemic provided a welcome treat when in person dining was closed. This evening the wife and I decided to experience the place as a dine in experience. We were ignored by the host as we came in- phone took priority, we should have left then. You have to place your order at the register, which is great for the waitstaff as they only have to bring you your food and not the check, avoiding potential conflict. The portions are absurdly small for the price and the presentation for guests who get duped into paying sashimi prices for hand rolls? It's all cardboard boxes, like the kind they put chicken strips into at the fair. It's a hipster tax on hipsters on a hot street in a neighborhood I can't afford to live in anymore. There was a line out the door (strategic counter placement) and the fish isn't bad just simple, uninspired and overpriced. A chirashi bowl shouldn't leave anyone hungry. That's the unforgivable sin that's brought me here. Not for the price they're charging. I've eaten a lot of sushi in a lot of places and I feel it's my duty to warn you off this place if your on the fence. I know I'll be going out of my way to no longer eat here. I miss RBTA - the skewer grill that originally was in that space. Shame they found the more profitable formula with this one.

Addie S.

Yelp
Lots of gluten free options for sushi rolls and gluten free tamari. Sashimi was good but came with egg and roe which I didn't like. Great wines and sake.

Birds h.

Yelp
We love coming here because they are family friendly. We can chill out in the back or front outdoor areas with our 6 month old and it's super mellow. Other couples with kids and the sushi is fresh and solid. We go a few times a month.

Andy H.

Yelp
Horrible service. The food is on par with other sushi restaurants at a similar price point but the wait staff (all 2 of them for a large back patio and inside dining area) know nothing about customer service. If you want to be a place where people are comfy throwing down $150 per meal then grow up and act like a real restaurant. Missing items from to-go order, condescending staff, no response to follow up phone calls and emails requesting refund for missing items. Pathetic. When there are so many other great sushi options in LA this place really needs to step it up if they want my business.

Crista R.

Yelp
Ordered take out from here on their first or second day open and was VERY impressed! The sushi rice was absolutely perfect. Well balanced, not too vinegary, not to sweet, fluffy but not to soft, not gummy. It's been so long since I've had proper sushi rice and it was absolutely ni. Really thank you to the chef! My bar is so high for that and they totally hit it. The fish was perfect too! It was so fresh, cut perfectly, no chewy gross bits and while everything we had was spectacular, I have to say that yellow tail might have been the best I ever had. I really hope that they are able to stay consistent with the quality because that is a big issue with other sushi spots here in LA and frankly they will smoke everyone if they can! Wishing this place all the best and looking forward to the next take out. :) Also VEGAN OPTIONS! YES!! They were absolutely fantastic!! Covid free hugs to whoever decided on that side of the menu. Thank you for opening!

Yelp
Found this local new sushi spot on yelp as I was looking for a takeout place for the family. I was pleased to find a new sushi place in HLP as there are not too many in the immediate area. We ordered omakase meals and were very pleased. The sushi was very good (high quality), and tasty. While I didn't eat there since I only did take out (during COVID), the restaurant itself looked really nice inside. I would love to eventually eat there. The only feedback I'd add is that the portions were a little on the smaller side compared to some other sushi places, but the prices also reflect that as well (a little lower). Overall I would recommend, and would go back there again soon!

Yelp
Great sushi. Issei does an excellent job each and every time. Been a customer for a couple years and go no where else.

Yelp
I took a date here for his birthday and we both enjoyed it. Still pretty covid cautious - disposable everything, dining outside only, order up front and only real server interaction is when they bring the food. but the pre-fixe menu is pretty dope. we got the deluxe box for two and it was pretty much the perfect amount of food. the sushi itself was delicious! the outdoor dining left a little bit to be desired. luckily we were in the shade, but not all of the tables were and i don't believe there was heating for the evening.

Yelp
Shari made from rice held in an igloo? Horrific paper take-out plates that stick to the sushi rice? Sloppy knife work on the neta? Freezing patio with no heat lamp? Wine from a can? Sushi Karen has reopened on fair oaks in Pas, Osawa has always been Japanese owned with Japanese chefs. This place can go effin kick rocks.

Yelp
Really great ambience, lovely staff. Sadly the sushi was just ok and portions were small. The sushi rice was dry and unflavored. Got pizza after.

Yelp
Was really looking forward to trying this place out, especially since the workers were also nice and friendly on the phone. But after getting my order I realize the sushi rolls are only four pieces each... And there was no soy sauce at all for my to go order. They definitely don't give you enough food for the price.
