The 16 Best Restaurants In Yountville

"R+D is a crowd-pleaser for just about everyone, with a wide-spanning menu that offers everything from sushi and salads to comfort food classics, like the wild mushroom meatloaf and popular Honor Burger topped with a mound of slaw. If you’re familiar with other R+D outposts, there are no surprises here, other than the number of conversations that revolve around how many wine tastings people have powered through and how wild it is to have found a restaurant in Yountville that offers free corkage. End your meal with the truly excellent carrot cake and chocolate peanut butter pie, and if you’re done with all the power-eating Yountville demands, R+D is a nice choice for takeout pizzas and a night off. " - christina julian, andrew steinthal

Pretty much every person we spoke to out here told us to eat at R&D Kitchen. And they were right. Very busy, so I'm glad we made a reservation. The restaurant was very nice, the staff was very nice, a great bar, and a great wine selection. We got the cheeseburger and the chicken sandwich, with the duo dipper as an appetizer. The guacamole and cheese dip had great flavors. Needed extra chips to enjoy them. Cheeseburger was stacked high with coleslaw, pickles, and tomatoes. It was very good. The chicken sandwich and the bun were very good, but i do wish the chicken was a little thicker. It was pounded pretty thin. A little more chicken and this would have been great. We will have to come back and try some more of their menu 👍🏼

Google
R+D us a very nice experience here in the Napa valley of California. Classy and relaxed atmosphere, California casual welcome. The service is good however they could use more wait people, not to say the quality of wait people is lacking but they can hire more for better attention. The food is perfect, delicious and mostly all made from scratch in their kitchen. The portions are just right as well as the prices. Classy that won't break the budget. Indoor and outdoor seating with atmosphere for these nice summer and spring days. Will definitely recommend and will be back again.

We’ll definitely be coming back here, especially to try more of their menu items! For starters R+D Kitchen goes above and beyond when it comes to service and customer experience, our waitress Andie was tremendous! She exuded professionalism, presented the best attitude, and took the time to connect with our table. You can tell that the staff at R+D are expected to meet a high standard of service and it truly shows because they have some of the best working here. We absolutely loved the cocktails we ordered as well as the dishes which were the Duo Dip, Ding’s Crispy Chicken Sandwich, and for desert we got the hot fudge sundae. If you’re wanting phenomenal service and great American cuisine, then look no further than R+D Kitchen! I’d highly advise making reservations for the Yountville location, the parking lot was always full every night we drove by. We visited R+D Kitchen at the end of 2024.

Google
We say outside and had the limited menu. The two sushi rolls we got were good and our drinks were good. Service was also good. However, we weren’t blown away, and the restaurant also had a lot of rules around what you could order depending on where you sit, and how many people are in your party. So if you’re looking to grab a small bite for a two person party and aren’t looking for a culinary experience, I would recommend.

Google
We Stopped for a quick lunch where it was less crowded. They have a large dine in space with a small booth table. The service from the staff was amazing but the food was okayish. They have limited items in menu & portions are small. It's priced on a higher side so would be a good option only if you want to have small bites & preferring to drinks more

Google
Started with the duo dip, coconut roll, and deviled eggs. All were delicious. Then the fried chicken sandwich which was good. The old fashioned was inedible. Very well made. Highly recommend.

Google
I’ve enjoyed dining at this restaurant multiple times—the food, ambiance, and most of the staff are consistently excellent. Unfortunately, my recent experiences have been overshadowed by the conduct of one manager, Micah Martin. While the restaurant itself is outstanding, Mr. Martin’s demeanor and management style have raised concerns. He comes across as unwelcoming and selectively enforces policies, choosing when and to whom the “rules” apply. This inconsistency creates discomfort for guests and staff alike and ultimately detracts from what should be an enjoyable and inclusive environment. It's disappointing to see such a great establishment compromised by one individual’s attitude. I hope leadership takes this feedback seriously, as the quality of service and fairness in treatment should reflect the excellence the restaurant is otherwise known for.

Google
Fantastic lunch and excellent service! We often eat at the Honor Bar on Palm Beach so I'm familiar with some of the menu items that never disappoint: dip duo, burger, and crispy chicken sandwich. I highly recommend the yellowtail sashimi with kale salad tossed in a roasted peanut vinegarette. That's the first time I've ever seen a salad accompany sashimi, and the flavors married perfectly!

Yelp
Love the food. I'm a local and always hang by and order something after my bike ride. However the way I am treated lately is far from the way it used to be. Are bikers lesser guests? This is how I feel and I am treated. When I walk in all dressed up, it's different service.

Yelp
As huge Hillstone fans had to try another location. As usual service was attentive and fast. Was slightly bummed to hear they don't have high chairs but we made it work! Martini was icy and delicious, packed a punch. The dip duo made up for no spinach dip, though I'd say it was less queso and more of a cheese ball. The ribs were so good and the sauce was delicious. This location has the same look and feel, even on a Monday night it was quite crowded

Yelp
Summary: Overall an average American restaurant My family had a reservation with a party of 9, but they didn't have any tables that could fit all of us so we were split up. First dish was the guacamole + queso. I was surprised that the queso dish wasn't hot, but a cold take. Surprisingly very good. I rate it a 8.5/10 Guacamole was average and could've used more flavor like jalapeño, red onion, or tomatoes. 6.5/10 Next was the tuna tartare. I was pretty underwhelmed by the flavors are textures. The tuna was kinda fishy and didn't taste like much. I thought the bread could've been more crisp to contrast the soft tuna and avocado. Rate this a 6/10. Last, we ordered the Ding's Fried Chicken Sandwich. Tbh, this tasted like your average chicken sandwich. Everything tasted good, but this dish was definitely not memorable. 7/10

Yelp
Restaurant is always busy, so we sat at the bar outside- it was about 60° so that was fine- full menu served at the bar (but only apps at the Adirondack chairs/tables). The patio is the best place to sit anyway bc it's casual and hip, there are heaters and COI FISH!! This food is so lip smacking good no matter what you order!! My stomach knows it can't hold all the things my eyes want but I have to taste them all! We've come here many times before, so had to try some different things this time: chips w/ jalapeño queso & guac, the Newporter salad and the burger. So good. The jalapeño queso has chunks of cheese throughout- it's almost like a cheese ball not like melty nacho cheese.... You'll scoop gobs onto those homemade, hot, salty chips. The guac has just the right amount of lime; also there's hidden corn for texture. The burger comes on their homemade buns- cooked to perfection with slaw and fixings... to die for. We ordered fries, and need up getting two cups, served with special sauce and ketchup. Mmmm Salad- so full of chicken we couldn't finish it! Sweet raisins and apples, salty cashews. Mm mm mm!! Our server was attentive and knowledgeable.

Yelp
My mouth is watering just thinking back to the sandwich I had for lunch... So, on Friday 12-6-2024, my girlfriend and I joined friends for a gorgeous day of lunch in the beautiful area of Yountville. We all ordered sandwiches, but because I am a vegetarian and didn't try their food, I will only speak to what I had. I ordered the Veggie Club, and it was soooooooooooo good. Mouth watering. Perfection. It tasted as amazing as the presentation on the plate. You know that saying that we start craving our food just with are eyes? Yes, in this instance, that was true. I also ordered a side of the creamy polenta (which was also delicious) but.... I must say... I will drive up from Sacramento, Napa, and all points in between JUST to have another bite of the delicious veggie club on their menu. That is how great it is. Highly recommend. If you live out of the area, just bookmark this restaurant and make a stop at some point in your foodie adventures. Thank you for reading!

Yelp
Another first here. Been to NAPA multiple times but have not tried dining here. Families from Philippines and Ireland were here in Cali for a vacay and definitely Napa is one of their bucketlists. Took the scenic route from San Mateo 1st so we get a glimpse of the area with our tourists. The food were great and i love the ambiance. The staff service were amazing and they always check on you. You can take a walk too, take pictures do a little shopping in their small boutiques after you dine in since the area have nice views and establishments. It was a perfect day when we came since it was not too crowded. I highly recommend it!

Yelp
Lovely spot for lunch before wine tasting. They don't offer a traditional brunch but serve their lunch items on weekend mornings. I like the fusion of Asian food offerings. Good price point for being in Napa / Yountville. Super cute outdoor area for the nice Spring / Summer days. Ample parking lot. Lovely interior that is quite spacious. Very kind servers who helped us choose between dishes. Reservations recommended during busy weekend dinner hours. Enjoyed the mango pasta salad. Fresh and light. My colleagues also liked their lamb burger.

Yelp
2 year later update. Ate at the restaurant. Duo dip was the bomb again, and warm chips. Damn. Sushi was better but was pre made and cold. Cocktails were also pre made. Deserts looked good but didn't try any. Service was fine. Still a great outdoor space but felt like there were a lot of restrictions on ordering and corkage. Bump from 3 to 4 stars. Good spot to chill.

Yelp
R+D was an excellent outdoor dining experience for a family luncheon on our way to Yountville. The service was swift and attentive especially given that we were the only outdoor seating at that time (random weekday lunch). Notably, decent amount of parking available, plenty of outdoor tables (first come first serve), and there are fire tables for evening use. If you do sit outside, note that it's a different lunch menu comprised of burgers and salads primarily. The eats: - honestly, ALL of the burgers and sandwiches were amazing. Loved the lamb burger & crispy chicken sandwich. Perfectly juicy.

Yelp
Wow!!! One of the top meals for me this year. Service is amazing and food was so tasty. 1. Plenty of parking in the lot. It's Yountville, easy to walk to! 2. Plenty of outdoor seating. Pet friendly. Note full menu at outside bar. Partial menu away from bar, apps and sandwiches. 3. Sat outside away from bar and plenty of options to choose from. 4. Service was amazing. So friendly and helpful. Positive attitude. 5. All the food was very tasty, high quality. Starter salad. I was concerned when it had chicken, but it was small pieces and tasted great. Bonus was the delicious croutons that were large and chewy. Ingredients were so fresh. The burger was so juicy! The Cole slaw on it made it. I would get this again. The fries were hot. Crispy. Light. Tasty. So good. The deviled eggs also had a good consistency, light, flavorful. What a great lunch! Perfect weather! On my list for my next visit!

Yelp
We were out wine tasting yesterday and had a reservation for 3pm. There was 8 of us but they were unable to accommodate all of us at the same table which kind of sucked but it is what it is. Our sever Christina was so very knowledgeable of theme u and really engaging with us. We went with her recommendations and she didn't steer us wrong. The Cubana was VERY unimpressive looking on the plate but made up what was lacking visually with the amazing taste it had!! The chicken sandwich was crisp and hearty and the prime rib sandwich literally melted in your mouth! One request would be to add au jus for it but they don't offer it the bread on all the sandwiches could t have been more fresh! Sushi was excellent and super fresh and even the fries were super tasty (order 2 servings because they don't come with many) definitely will be back and soon because my mouth is watering for that sandwich right now!!

Yelp
I haven't back here for awhile and everything still the same, foods was flavorful and services was quick! I came here on Monday for lunch and it was busy with limited parking. I had reservation for lunch so it was a quick in and out. The foods came out super quick too as I was the first table in the restaurant at 11:30AM. I always order the tuna tartar because it is a staple dishes here. The yellowtail sashimi was good too especially the salad that comes with it.

Yelp
Absolutely the most AWFUL restaurant in Yountville, Stay away from this place, I feel obligated to WARN others before they make the same mistake. Mika has zero hospitality or customers service skills. The food is horrible.

Yelp
It's been a couple years since I'd visited R+D kitchen and I was nervous it wouldn't live up to my incredible memory of it... but I didn't need to worry because the food was exceptional as always! Our table had the: Osaka style pressed sushi: 5/5 this was probably the single best item at our table although everything was great Tuna burger: 4/5 very very tasty. Bonus points for it coming deconstructed so I didn't have to unlatch my jaw to take a bite Ruby star salad: 4/5 salmon was delicious, coleslaw felt a little heavy for a salad. Honor burger: 4/5 very tasty but coleslaw was a little distracting The little mo: 5/5 "it was very good" from my not very verbose friend R+d is a little old school with its jazz music and dress code but service was excellent (thank you Sarah!). Plan to return and order more sushi :)

Yelp
Solid restaurant in the heart of Napa Valley wine country. While R+D is known for its elevated experience, it will not necessarily scare you away with its formal setting. Price point wise it is very competitive, even with some stiff competition nearby. Food is absolutely amazing here, and there is no skimping on portions. I usually always go for the deviled eggs starters followed by one of their delicious salads and or sandwiches. When it comes to ambiance, they have it down with some great outdoor seating or indoor fine-esque dining. I find it sort of difficult to really pick out any negative aspects, maybe parking if it's quite busy since it's a small area with a large tourist influx during the warmer parts of the year. Other than that, always a solid choice for anyone in the area visiting looking for some great food.

Yelp
Dined in and have ordered to-go here many times. Everything's always good! Service is good. Property is gorgeous, classy, and chic. They also have a patio and outdoor bar, fire pits w/ seating. They have something for everyone here. Salads, sandwiches, burgers, sushi, meatballs, good carrot cake. Love getting their pizzas, salad, and sushi to go. The sushi isn't authentic but I love it so much! Additionally love: steak noodle salad, macadamia nut sushi roll, mushroom corn pizza, The Newporter salad, the burger, the fries! The meatballs with polenta were good too. Prices aren't bad for Napa, considering the quality of taste and ambiance! Some things I do feel are a bit overpriced for the size but hey, that's just Napa prices. TLDR: Good overall, they have something for everyone, beautiful spot. I always love coming here. Would go back and would recommend.

Yelp
The best Prime Rib sandwich and Carnitas sandwich ever! The Prime Rib sandwich is your basic French Dip - EXCEPT they use USDA prime beef that is perfectly cooked and piled high. At $27 it's probably the most expensive sandwich my husband has ever ordered but a day later he's still thinking about how it's the best most expensive sandwich he's ever had. The only thing that could have made it a 5+++was some au jus dipping sauce for the French Dip. I was initially disappointed with the carnitas (pulled pork sandwich) when I saw the coleslaw was on the sandwich instead of on the side, but after one bite, I was over it. It's a "fancy" coleslaw that's more like flavored shredded lettuce - but in addition to all of the other ingredients they add to the sandwich, the buttery bread on which it's served all makes it so flavorful and delicious. The most unique and delicious pulled pork sandwich I've ever had. On top of the great food, the service was beyond efficient. I got a martini-like drink and half way through my meal, the server picked up my drink. I thought he was taking it away even though it war half full - but turns out he poured it into a freshly chilled glass so that it would stay cold. Perfection all the way around.

Yelp
I can't believe that I've never reviewed this spot!! I don't get to Yountville too often but this spot is always in my plan when I do. The menu is broad but offers such delicious bites that it can please a crowd. I actually really love the creative sushi rolls, I get at least one every time. Not the traditional flavors you see literally everywhere else so it's a refreshing option. Their kale salad is another dish I get almost every time. The peanut dressing is everything I want it to be and more. This last trip we got it with the sashimi and while it was delicious, I would probably just get the salad without the fish next time so I get more salad! Lol Fried chicken sandwiches I think were what originally brought me out here but I keep coming back because the food is consistently delicious. Great corner location, parking lot can be tricky but street parking nearby is accessible.

Yelp
Beautiful place, delicious food, but massively snobby staff. The manager seems nice enough from a distance, but our server and the hostess were so unfriendly that it ruined our experience. It was shocking and disappointing. I wish they'd hire some nicer staff, but I wouldn't imagine a friendly server would feel very comfortable in that atmosphere.
google avatar

Yelp
Got seated outside right away. They only allow 3 people per table so we had 3 tables. It's a super cute spot to have a quick little lunch before heading out in our way. The dip duo was so good and tastes really fresh, the sandwich was delicious and cut into 3 so we could share, and the fries were crispy with tasty dipping sauces.

Yelp
We couldn't get a reservation at YH Yountville, so we went here instead! It was Valentine's day weekend. The menu was really short and simple so it was easy to order. For starters, we got the dip duo which has jalapeño queso and guacamole with hand-cut tortilla chips. We also got the carnitas sandwich and Ding's crispy chicken sandwich with their house-made buns. The bbq sauce on the side was yummy! For drinks, we got the Original Tecquila Sunrise and the Reissdorf Kölsch. Everything was delicious! They have indoor and outdoor seating, including two bars. We sat outside under the umbrella tables where it was nice and sunny.

Yelp
My review is for customer service, R & D policies are nonsensical. It was a Friday evening and we wanted to have only dessert. The outside patio had 2 tables occupied. Since we were only having dessert we thought it would be polite not to take a table for dinner guest inside the restaurant.. The hostess informed us we could only have dessert at the outside bar. My husband thought maybe the patio tables were reserved for bottle service. , but I observed a guest eating food...hum. I inquired with the hostess about what was allowed at patio tables....and she stated starters, sandwiches, and sushi. By the way the small outside bar was crowded. And we had to asked the hostess to clean an area that was a mess with multiple dishes and napkins...very unbecoming. After reading other reviews R & D has some offensive policies the I've never encountered with other restaurants. The resturant is not a formal establishment. Unfortunately the management appears to have some issues and is demeaning to patrons per other up reviewers. Of course an established is entitled to set their own policies. I also appreciate requiring guest to dress appropriately for cause There are many other excellent restaurants that value the patrons and treat them with dignity and respect and offer flexibility. Management has some serious control issues with nonsensical policies. I recommend dining with restaurants that are pleased to accommodate guest Unfortunately R&D Is good, but the arrogant attitudes are not worth it. Change will only happen if their revenue declines and at risk of unemployment.

Yelp
Update. Rolando was here again. Another exceptional experience. Heidi was our server. She was terrific. M Shrimp Louis is excellent as is the service ambiance and food. This is our go to spot....

Yelp
5 stars for the takeout food - we got 2 pizzas, broccolini, and a kale salad. Our original plan was to order the food and eat at Yountville Park since we have 2 young kids. Unfortunately, the playground was under renovation! So we had to drive to a further park. Anyway, the pizza was delicious. I really liked the crust with cornmeal on the bottom, which gave it texture. My husband said it tasted like a fancy Pizza Hut (which is a big compliment because his favorite pizza is Pizza Hut, lol). The Hawaiian pizza had jalapenos so just keep in mind if you are ordering for kids. Everything was fresh and tasty. The kale salad was unique and had a kick to it. It was also reasonably priced at just $7. If you're looking for a solid takeout option in the Yountville area, check out R&D!

Yelp
Our first night in Yountville, Napa County, we walked up to R+D Kitchen on the north side of town for dinner. They produce terrific, tasty cocktails, and their food was great to enjoy after we spent most of the day traveling across the country from South Florida by plane and then by car from San Francisco. For my money, the Jackrabbit was a magical cocktail comprising reposado tequila and grapefruit juice. I enjoyed at least two of them during my meal. My wife enjoyed a spicy tuna roll that was incredibly fresh and tasty, while I ordered the prime rib sandwich that was so amazingly good, especially with the creamy horseradish. We could both enjoy the French fries thanks to R+D not using a shared fryer, so the fries were gluten free and fried in a gluten-free fryer; very cool. Their dipping sauces were quite delightful to enjoy with the fries. Dining at R+D Kitchen was a good place to start our culinary experience in Yountville during our stay, especially with the dark wooden interior, comfy booth seating, stylish bar area, and excellent service staff that ensured we had what we needed during our meal.

Yelp
There's a location in OC and maybe an LA location but my favorite is definitely the one in Yountville. Ambience very clean, a tad dated. The food is excellent! A few of my favorites are: coconut shrimp roll, the Newporter salad and the prime-rib sandwich. Service great! Enjoy!

Yelp
Came back after a few years and a pandemic. Hostess was very nice and we got seated right away. We ordered our favorite Shrimp Louie. Big beautiful prawns with their special Louie sauce. Yummy, Staff was very good. Glad to be back. Loving it again. Note. In the past, had a bad experience with a snooty Hostess. Thank goodness they took care of that problem.

Yelp
My party of 3 was seated right away on a fairly busy Saturday afternoon. They mentioned that outdoor seating is limited to the smaller menu of mainly sliders/appetizers/drinks/etc. (see attached menu photos). We shared the dip duo, French fries, and ding's crispy chicken sandwich. Dip duo was pretty standard, French fries were a little more dense than my usual preference, and ding's crispy chicken sandwich was pretty good. Glad we shared the crispy chicken sandwich - it would've been a huge portion for one person. Service was good and our food came out super quickly. Plenty of outdoor seating with beautiful trees surrounding and good spot to grab a bite when in the area.

Yelp
Francis was fantastic as our server! She was incredibly helpful, kind, and patient. She provided great suggestions for my friend, who was visiting from out of town and had never eaten at the restaurant before. Thanks to Francis, our lunch was extremely enjoyable! After lunch we sat outside to enjoy our glass of wine by the Koi fish pond which is very peaceful. Thank you Francis!

Yelp
Nice and/but fancy place - so fancy I was (very politely) asked to take off my cap. Service was excellent and my lamb sandwich was very good, but not exceptional either (hence a 4). Would certainly like to come back and try more from the delishous -looking menu.

Yelp
What drew us to the R+D Kitchen were dishes that represented a fusion of various cuisines that includes sushi, Pan Asian noodle salad, and a crispy chicken sandwich. On a Saturday afternoon, we entered the restaurant around 12:30pm as it began filling up with patrons and the tempo of service was beginning to pick up. We were warmly greeted and seated. We ordered the Nuevo Cubano Sandwich ($20), Newporter Salad ($25), Pan Asian Salad with pork ($30), Crispy Chicken Sandwich ($21), and a few orders of the Hand Cut French Fries ($7). The overall quality of the food was above average, and the portions were small. The service was good and several servers came by to provide water, deliver our orders and take our plates away. The ambiance was casual with a healthy din of conversation in a modern rustic interior. As a side note, there was outdoor patio seating for patrons who wanted to enjoy their meal in the pleasant Yountville climate. Food - 3 Service- 4 Ambiance - 4

Yelp
Napa got lots of nice restaurants for sure. Maybe its my imagination but it seems the farther north you go (Yountville, St. Helena, etc.) the better the food tastes. R+ D Kitchen offers a large sushi menu coupled with traditional American hot sandwiches, burgers, and entrees. Very unusual concept but I think it works! They have a huge outdoor patio equipped with fire pits, bar, and a huge Koi pond. Inside, its more casual and trendy with the comfortable wood decor. We ordered: Ding's Fried Chicken Sandwich - Wow, chicken is crispy outside and moist and juicy without being oily. The rest of the sandwich with the slaw and sesame bun really melds the flavor together well. Rustic Chicken - Another 5 star dish - juicy, earthly roasted chicken with mushrooms on top of some creamy, buttery polenta. Cheeseburger - This was an adult-sized burger but I ordered it for my so since the kid's menu was really limited. Solid, juicy burger. Would have been nice to include some fries. We got sushi rice as a side dish since my 3yo son loves rice!

Yelp
R+D Kitchen offers elevated American cuisine with a Japanese influence. And as the name implies, they're all about menu research and development. They have other locations in Dallas, Newport Beach, and Santa Monica. Per their website, they cater to small groups. We were a party of two and scored a Sunday lunch reservation to end our Yountville staycation. They were busy! I wanted something light and found that in the Emerald Kale Salad and Yellowtail Sashimi, both fresh and flavorful. My guy enjoyed his own Emerald Kale salad and a hearty carnitas sandwich - he saved half for the drive home. We dined inside but they also have a large patio of outdoor seating and a bar.

Yelp
After being at R+D for over 150 times, I can say yes this is one of the most popular places for lunches and dinners among tourists and locals. My go to dishes are: 1). Osaka roll (pressed sushi with tuna) that is always sooo delicious 2). The filet from Allen Brothers which if you buy that steak online uncooked it probably costs you more (shipping costs etc), high quality meat, always cooked to your perfection. 3). Best Berger in town. They made their own buns every day. All the sandwiches are great! 4). Their beef ribs are huge and delicious 5).Fried are great, ask for extra crispy. I also really enjoyed the Thai steak salad. Come early before noon to avoid the long wait. The bar is first come first serve (and you get full menu service) but gets crowded after noon. Big outdoor patio but food choice can be limited (to the sandwiches)

Yelp
Came here twice during our stay in Yountville. Reminds me a lot of Joeys kitchen. We were seated quickly in a booth. Waitress was great. We got the pressed sushi, thai tuna sushi roll, the honor burger and fries. We also tried the pan-asian noodle salad, and tuna tartare. Food was really good! I would definitely give the sushi and burger 5 stars! I still think about the burger. The salad was ok, as well as the tuna tartare. Probably wouldn't get those again.

Yelp
Was very crowded when we showed up at 2pm on Saturday, luckily we had a reservation. Service was quick and plenty of parking in a familiar lot. Menu is decent sized with a bunch of different options. I went for an off menu item - the ahi tuna sandwich, which was delicious! Everything else was so so. We shared fries and lamb meat sandwich, which was dry. I ordered a pick me up espresso martini, solid.

Yelp
Normally very enjoyable but an Ahi special just ruined the meal for me. It was basically chopped and made into a crabcake and wasn't described as such by the server - really why can't places print the specials and avoid this?

Yelp
We came for lunch on Friday. It was pretty crowded. Service was great. Our waitress was very friendly. There is plenty of parking. You can also do outside dining as well.

Yelp
It was alright, a little pricey for what it's worth. The chicken sandwich was tasty. The chicken was fried well and the pickled (?) veggies paired well with it. I wish the buns were toasted more and flatter as the height of the buns made it a little difficult to eat. Overall it was a good dish but I'd probably try something else.

Yelp
Wow. What happened ? The famous Hillstone brand took a hit tonight at R&D. One of my favorite spots was a big let down tonight. I can't really explain it because it's such a great location and with super management it should have been A1. Wasn't. What was right? Good friendly knowledgeable servers. Lovely interior. New updated menu with interesting choices. Not so good-- poor execution. We had a kale salad with basically no kale. We had another kale salad with sashimi way over dressed. We had a filet basically charred to death. Returned and the new one came after everyone had eaten. ( shouldn't we have gotten the next one off the grill? ) two refill glasses of wine ordered and not delivered for 20 minutes. A prime rib sandwich with no dipping sauce ( "our Rutherford location had the "dip" we don't do it. A French dip with no dip...) I'd like to think this was a bad night but I don't think so. Something is way off.

Yelp
Made reservations for this memorable dining experience for Father's Day and I'm happy to be back! Refreshing dishes, flavorful food, excellent service, and relaxing, chill ambiance makes R+D Kitchen a great option. Ashley was our host, and she was very good. We ordered appetizers right away, starting with the Dip Duo, Trout Dip, and Chicken Meatballs over polenta. Our favorite was the Dip Duo, with fresh, hot, and crispy tortilla chips. The Duo is Jalapeño Queso on one side, with freshly made Guacamole on the other. The combination is amazing! The Trout Dip was also delicious, very subtle and tasty. The Chicken Meatballs over Polenta was absolutely delicious and different. You don't see great combinations like this on menus anymore. For drinks, we opted for the Crush, with Mint and crushed green grapes with vodka. Also very good. For our main dishes, the standouts were the Beef Ribs, which was tender, juicy, and lots of flavor with a Carolina-style BBQ sauce. It was so delicious! The Wild Mushroom Meatloaf was also very good. Both were great substitutes for the (sold out) Prime Rib Sandwich. For dessert, we ordered both the carrot cake and the sundae. The carrot cake had a nice cream cheese frosting with a ton of moist deliciousness, and the sundae came with hot fudge on the side which complimented the carrot cake. One of my new go-to places for the summer! I can't wait to go back!

Yelp
Very disappointed We are regulars at Hillstone SF, the Los Altos Grill as well as Gulfstream sister restaurants to K&D Kitchen. These 3 sisters have always been spot-on in every regard. So; where did K&D fall short? On arrival we settle at an outdoor high top for 3. As a party of 4, 3 of us took the seats at the table. No other people were seated outside were seated so I grabbed a stool from an empty table. Literally within a minute or 2 the hostess scrambled out to chastise me. "These are tables for 3 sir" we were then escorted inside to her stand. We were 15 minutes early for our lunch reservation. She seated us in a comfortable waiting area. A server came over for our drink order. The ladies order Prosecco: server, " sorry we don't carry Prosecco." Ladies then ordered Bloody Mary's; server, "sorry we don't make Bloody Mary's on weekdays." Really! I'm the DD so 3 of us then ordered ice tea; you guessed it; server 'we don't have iced tea as you might know it. We serve a blend of iced tea and peach ______ '. So we gave up and order the iced tea with peach something. It doesn't end there. We were escorted to our table. I'm going to cut this a little short now as the theme remains constant throughout our experience. I ordered the prime rib sandwich and a Macho Salad. Server, "we don't have the Macho Salad at the restaurant." Then--- sandwich came; Where's the Au Juice you say; server, "we don't serve this with Au Juice." Really! I've had this sandwich at Hillstone & Los Altos Grill literally over 100 times. Always with Au Juice. Okay; I'll have the Horse Radish; Server, "It comes with creamy Horse Radish." I'll have the Horse Radish, not creamy. Server, "we only serve the creamy sir." The sandwich came cut into 3 narrow pieces. Cute; but, very difficult to eat as the contents squeezed out with every bite. My wife and I were so looking forward to another brilliant Huston's restaurant experience while in the Napa Valley. To say the least the K&D experience fell short and became comedic as we were told over and over 'we don't ...'

Yelp
Went in for lunch on a Thursday. The hostess was friendly enough. The rainbow roll and Osaka style sushi were delicious. The the prime rib sandwich with horseradish was also amazing. We sat at the bar and we're served by the bartender. The service was ok but for the type of service they're charging for, I felt it could have been better. For that reason, I give them 3 stars. If I could have given 3.5 I would.

Yelp
Haven't reviewed in years but had a humiliating experience at R+D on the 4th of July. This restaurant really needs to get over themselves, honestly. Started out great. Made a reservation for 4 and then got seated quickly with smiles. Always loved coming here because the food was good and was hanging out with friends from out of town and suggested this place for dinner. Anyway, to preface I wore a denim sleeveless button up vest to dinner and after we were sat down and waitress took our drink orders she goes to the manager who comes back with a shirt. The manager told me that men in the restaurant are required to have sleeves. She made me put a black shirt on at the dinner table (but said oh but you can keep it it's free, yay???) First of all, what? My outfit was thoughtfully put together and so cute???? and second of all, it's 2024 don't assume people's gender?? 3rd that same manager was at the door, she coulda told me at the entrance rather than already seated in the dining room waiting for my mango iced tea??? It ruined the mood for my entire party throughout the duration of the dinner to the point where it was the only thing we talked about while we ate. I've gone here and recommended this place for years but never again! And to top it all off, I checked the website and they said tank tops aren't allowed but no mentions of anything specific towards gender or sleeves for men. Ridiculous and discriminatory.

Yelp
Hi. Lots of "rules" at this place. So if you have common sense, you might want to eat at Gott's Roadside instead as it's just as good. We visited in December. We were seated at two tables outside on the patio - ONE BILL, as we were paying for the other table. We were the only ones outside when we were seated. We were told TWICE, under no circumstances, could our niece, who was sitting at the adjacent table, 3 feet away, come to our table and talk to us. She couldn't even stand between the 2 tables and talk to us. She had to stay at her table. It was "policy". What kind of rule is this? Patrons should be treated with more respect and dignity. But if you like stupid rules, R+D kitchen is perfect for you. Enjoy.

Yelp
The burger I ate tonight was absolutely perfect. It's easily one of the best burgers I've every had. The beef was seasoned and juicy but not dripping, cheese melted, cabbage flowing, tomato chilling, and there is this very subtle red sauce that has a hint of sweetness to just takes it over the edge.
