Our family goes almost weekly since they opened and we love this local gem! I'm pretty serious about good food and our nine-year-old is very picky yet we both thoroughly enjoy going to Real. The food is absolutely delightful -- both warm and approachable yet also inventive and above all delicious -- and one of, if not the best, food quality to price ratios I have ever experienced. The menu features local food from Drumlin Farm, and I think also the Food Project, both in Lincoln itself, as well as Fat Moon organic mushrooms from Westford. The ambiance is casual, relaxing and friendly and you can actually hear your dinner companions! Although we fortunately don't need to avoid gluten, the chef, Tom Fosnot, does wonderful twists on old favorites like cavatelle using different grains, and does a wonderful twist on croutons using corn meal. We once went there and all six mains on the menu were gluten-free. They do change up the menu a bit here and there but they keep old favorites. My favorite so far is the roasted chicken breast with corn grit croutons and the green goddess dressing. The other dish I'm dying to try which is a favorite is the sautéed cod with Yukon Gold mashed potatoes, preserved lemon and parsley butter. I haven't tried it yet and have been experimenting with their new dishes and specials as I've been told it will stay on the menu. Usually kid's food isn't that great in comparison to adult food at restaurants (this is one of my litmus tests), but their mac n' cheese is great -- they aren't scrimping on the food that appeals to most children. I'm super picky about wine but have enjoyed their curated wine list so far. The bar manager is fantastic and they have mixed drinks as well. As the restaurant was getting off the ground, the service was too slow. Now it is much better. The wait staff are very friendly and helpful without standing over you. I give Real my highest recommendation for an approachable yet super high food-quality restaurant!
