Where is Julia? I came back after doing a dry January to see Julia only to hear she is no longer working there. She made me feel like I was part of the family, and she remembered everything I've told her about myself, not because she felt like she had to do it to make tips but I felt she genuinely cared about trying to make this spot a little home, which I loved. It was too busy for me after I heard Julia wasn't working so I went elsewhere. I am a tad bummed.

I left with the biggest smile that a Chicagoan can produce! The drinks… Amazing! The service… Amazing! The bartender who went by the name “ taco ” can make an amazing shot using only simple ingredients that were available at the bar! I will definitely come again; for the service, for the bartender, for the atmosphere… but especially for the football! Go birds! 🦅🦅🦅

Loved this spot! For my first time, I had a great time with my friends. Had a few beers and played darts. They dont have food, but its BYOF. Love that they give free popcorn, although i didn’t have any. Would definitely come back. I spilled a glass of beer, but were really nice about it, and gave me a free refill. They have an outdoor patio behind as well.

Came in late one evening looking for a bar with good bourbon open past 9pm. This place was a find! Amazing drink options, and the bartender was fantastic! She took great care of everyone in there and was entertaining as well! This is a must stop!

A lot more space now, you don't feel cramped. Karaoke on weekends. Good place to catch up with friends and have a drink or two. Did not eat while there.

Awesome bar located a few minutes outside the city with a great selection of bourbon and ryes! Highly recommend this if you’re a bourbon enthusiast or just looking for a place for a drink. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful!

Our first experience here was wonderful. However, ever since our first visit it has been miserable. The same bartender the last two times was unbelievably drunk while working alone. This bartender held us both verbally hostage the entire time, so much so that we couldn’t even talk to each other. The music was also unnecessarily loud, especially for a week night - well over 100db. I want to love this place but this particular employee completely kills the vibe.

Came in on a Friday night & was able to sit down with our group right away- not too crowded. It’s a dive bar feel but also pretty clean and tidy with dart boards at the back. Also bonus points for having mango cart on tap

If your looking for a great neighborhood bar I suggest giving them a try. The bartenders customer service is great and quick. Some drinks do cost more then others, but on the good side you can get any food delivered there you want!

It's no secret I love a good bourbon whiskey so I stopped by here with my fiance on a whim on a lovely Saturday afternoon. It was completely empty when we arrived, which honestly was perfect to me lol. You order drinks at the bar and can sit where you like; they have a covered patio outdoor in the back that's very college-like with decorations and tvs. You know, the street signs and college flags back there. They also have Jenga on a few of the outdoor tables for a little fun and entertainment. Like I said, college vibes lol. The bartender (his name was Daniel I believe) was so cool and recommended bourbons to taste which was awesome. This place gets 5 stars purely because it wasn't crowded and the bartender took such great care in making sure we were taken care of. He also explained the origin of each bourbon which was great. I will certainly come back when I'm looking for a good whiskey drink and cool vibe on slower days.

Based on the reviews and the cocktail menu featured on their website, we decided to try out Rebel & Rye before dinner. The enclosed back patio is pretty comfortable and has a bunch of high tops to hang out in. All ordering is done at the bar. When we went to scan the menu QR, we assumed something was wrong because all the drinks were very fall and winter themed (we came Memorial Day weekend when it was hottt). Many included apple cider, pumpkin syrup or purée even though the online menu featured watermelon and other summery drinks. This was kind of a disappointment. When we asked the bartender, it seemed like they we're going to have a meeting about changing the menu in the coming week, but I'd say they're already way behind the mark if they haven't even discussed a summer menu yet. Seemed like they were just trying to finish off their fall/winter ingredients, which is fine but is usually done at a discounted price alongside a weather and season appropriate menu! Overall, still a good experience because they had some board and card games available while we sipped. Wouldn't rush back, but would be open to trying it again towards the end of summer to see what menu they came up with!

I will never be coming back here! To start with, we were there for a birthday celebration for one of our friends so the entire back patio area had been rented out for us. The separate bar that is attached/part of that back patio area was for whatever reason, not in service and not being used. So to get drinks, we had to go into the main area, not a big deal at all, just establishing the background here. So there's a total of 8 of us in this group. 1 of us isn't drinking, 2 of us have their own tab, and the remaining 5 are sharing a tab. For the rest of this post I'll mostly be referring to this group of 5 as the focus. So we order a total of 16 green tea shots, 3 vodka cranberries, 6 vodka red bulls, 2 peanut butter whiskey drinks among the 5 of us. The 2 that have a separate bill got a couple beers and some vodka redbulls separately. When we go up to pay, we see that our bill for just the 5 of us is OVER $400 dollars. We check and there is a good at least $100 worth of drinks we did not order. We tell the bartender and he says that 3 of the drinks on the receipt that we didn't order are on there because our 2 friends that had a separate bill (who have paid and left by now) said that those drinks belonged to us, which the did not because no one in our group ordered those at all. We tell the bartender exactly what drinks we ordered and that we aren't going to pay for drinks we didn't get and he basically just keeps telling us the same thing, that our other friends said those drinks belonged to us even though they didn't. After a bunch of unproductive back and forth, we ask for the manager. After WAY too long (probably more than 10 minutes), the manager comes out. She tells us the same thing. So we call our friends and put the phone on speaker and they tell the manager directly that they did not say those drinks were ours and no one in our group at all ordered those drinks. We reiterate that we will not pay for drinks we didn't order. The manager says that the bartenders confirmed we ordered the drinks that are listed but we are telling her that just because the bartender says we did doesn't mean we did and also the same person ordered from our group every time so someone could have heard us saying our name when we ordered drinks on our tab and added drinks to our tab. The bartender never asked for the owner of the card when drinks were added to the tab and the manager admits this too since it's a Saturday night and apparently it's too busy to make sure that the owner of the card is present every time a drink is ordered? So the manager calls the owner because she says she can't just let us leave and these drinks need to be paid for. She is giving us attitude saying she doesn't know why our friend is denying that he added the drinks to our bill when he definitely did. She says either his wife or him did it. After more unproductive back and forth, she says the most she can do is remove the 3 drinks that our other friends supposedly said were ours, but she has to leave the other 5 or so drinks on even though we said they weren't ours. On top of that she said she'll give us 10% off. At this point we are so over it, our other friends have been waiting outside for over an hour to leave so we just say okay. When we get the bill, it is still $50-60 over what we should have paid but we just cut our losses and pay it and leave. After the ordeal we went through and the attitude the manager had been giving us the whole time and how long they made us wait and how unhelpful they were, we don't leave a tip (especially since we were already paying more than we should have) As we're leaving, the manager calls us back and starts getting angry at us for not leaving a tip. She says that she didn't have to take those extra drinks off and she didn't have to give us a discount but that she did and therefore that entitles her to a tip? We said that after everything, we didn't think a tip was deserved. We even said that since she did at least a little to help we were willing to JUST tip her but not the other bartenders who let random people add drinks to our tab without double checking with us and didn't at all try to help us out. She starts going on about how her workers make less than minimum wage and how they depend on tips as if that is our problem? Maybe pay your workers better than. She keeps going off on us about not leaving a tip so eventually we just leave.

My roommates and I moved to the neighborhood this summer and this was one of the first bars we walked into. Love the atmosphere, music, and patio and have been back many times. Great to have an option of indoor or outdoor seating with tvs outside as well. Service is great and bathrooms have always been clean, huge bonus for a late night bar. One of our roommates had a birthday a month ago and we called and they let us bring in a cake and decorations for her. Glad we moved near such a great neighborhood bar and have brought in a lot of friends visiting town.

Nice bar, has outdoor patio. Each table with a different game on it. Very relaxed atmosphere. Kitchen closed at 9 but we just ordered a pizza from a cross the st. They were out of a lot of the ingredients for the drinks but they have such a big selection it didn't matter. Would def go back

Piss buckets is all I have to say. They NEVER upkeep only 2 bathrooms. They're both gender- neutral and some how it gets soaked in piss either way... I NEVER feel comfortable coming here.

Ordered a regular drink (french 75) and was charged $22!!! This is not even an upscale place. Will not be returning.

Great drinks - everything from Coors to mixed cocktails. Very nice staff who make sure creepy guys are kicked out.

Great music and company with Craig at the helm. Def coming back for the old school hip hop music and cocktails!

Bourbon lover - I came as I was interested to see the bourbon selection in terms of price and depth of collection. While the collection is vast, the lack of a long term distributor connection is evident. More specifically, not a lot of rare/hard to find bourbons are available. No real bargains either on bourbons. The one bargain I found was on the Weller 12 year but they were sold out. Not surprised fellow bourbon lovers drank the Weller 12 dry. I was also turned off cause I asked for a whiskey neat of a certain bottle. Server came back with a double pour when I only wanted a smaller pour. I was never asked the size of pour I wanted and I expressed my desire for a smaller pour immediately as the glass arrived. I would expect a "Oh well let me correct that." but I just kind of got a well...it's kind of too late. That left a bitter taste in my mouth so I dunno. I will not be goin back.

Charming decor and atmosphere, friendly service, great music, and tasty drinks. Couldn't ask for more! Will definitely return.

The Rebel and Rye staff were amazing as they hosted our birthday party. Thanks to Lauren and Derek (bartender) for all they did for our 50 family and friends.we would highly recommend this neighborhood bar for your next private function.

This place was recommended to my by an employee of the establishment. He told me it's one of the best whiskey bars in Chicago. It is a whiskey bar, I'll give him that. It's so far from the best in Chicago. Pours are way overpriced and the selection was full of everything you'll find anywhere. No real special bottles. It's fine if you're in the area and don't mind spending a lot of money on bottles you can find at any liquor store.

A great spot for catching the game with a big group, a nightcap with an old friend, or a quick cocktail before dinner in River West. They have a fantastic selection of whiskeys from every region of the country, delicious handcrafted cocktails, and a solid wine and beer selection for the non whiskey lovers out there. Rebel & Rye has something for everyone, and the servers and staff are all warm, friendly, and make great drinks! They also now have a spacious back patio with TVs and appropriately distanced tables and seating. Highly recommend a visit to this hidden gem!

Love everything about this place . Came here two nights in a row and Johnna was our bartender. She treated us like gold! So thankful we had her . Made our nights in Chicago 1000 times better !!! Thanks for everything

Lovely, chill and relaxing atmosphere, the servers and hosts were friendly and very accommodating. Definitely recommend this place for any scotch, whiskey, or bourbon drinker or any one who would like to enjoy a peaceful friendly evening with friends or a date.

The outdoor patio is PERFECT during Covid. Super fun for football games but personally love it on a slower night with some friends and their signature cocktails. The Sagamore Summer Sour is my fave but also love that they have a good selection of draft beers if I want to switch over.

A few friends and I stopped on through on an afternoon. Had a great time at this bourbon-themed bar. Brest drinks and laid back atmosphere.

Great drinks and great music!!! Walked by and was early for a dinner reso across the street. Only reason I walked in was the music. Jay-z Q-tip Beastie Boys and Wu Tang!! My bartenders name was Craig and he makes a hell of an old fashy

Olivia and Mitch are amazing. They had the ultimate hospitality experience for a Covid friendly climate.

Stopped in here the other day & will definitely be going back soon! The staff were all very attentive & on top of COVID precautions, the bar was clean, and and environment was super fun.

The bar is a library, but with whiskey. Sweet environment and great drinks. Awesome selection of whiskey and really good mixed drink
