"Revolutionary War-themed restaurant Rebel’s Guild at the Revere Hotel downtown is channeling “The Legend of Sleepy Hollow” for a five-course dinner — costumes optional — on Monday, October 31. Make a dinner reservation from 4 to 9 p.m. to partake in dishes like citrus-poached lobster and rosemary-crusted steak as well as cocktails like the Headless Horseman (Whistlepig rye, apple cider, cinnamon syrup, and Night Shift Brewing Pumpkin Piescraper), all backed by a DJ spinning tunes from 6 to 9 p.m." - Adam H. Food was very expensive, 30 dollars for homefries, eggs, pancake and sandwich. Atmosphere was good in a few areas felt very colonial but felt steampunk did not compliment it.

I ate here three times during my stay, and everything my table ordered was delicious. Lovely presentation. Very friendly and attentive waitstaff. Dark and moody vibe. Quiet. 👌🏼

Very friendly staff, food was hot and flavorful. Atmosphere was in the spirit of nautical and mysterious. Great spot to stop for some food and charm!

We went for Valentine’s Day. Wasn’t busy at all. Lots of reservations available. Drinks were light and delicious. Our app, the crab cake was 10/10 and honestly the best crab cake we’ve ever had. Our entrées were cooked to perfection, flavorful and filling. Dessert was the best. The tiramisu was very good, not too sweet but perfectly paired with the espresso. Would recommend and we will be visiting again! 😄 service was 8/10.

I ate at this location last night because I was tired and didn't want to leave the hotel. The company I worked for has worked out a discount with the hotel for food and it seemed like a decent option for a burger and a beer. I should have been concerned when I waited over 5 minutes to be seated when there were only two other people in the restaurant. The music was at a volume that would have been unremarkable had the bar been full of people, but without the people it was obnoxiously loud. The beer was small and overpriced, and the selection was bad, but this was not surprising from a hotel bar. The fries were pretty good, but the burger was only mediocre, but the real shock came when I got the bill. Although they had discounted the ticket, they had marked it up more than they had discounted it. Since they only discount food, they had charged an 18% gratuity on the pre-discount price. On the ticket was printed "18% gratuity added to parties of 8 or more." I was alone. When I questioned the staff about the charge, he replied, "my manager added it I cannot do anything about it." Not wanting to cause a stink, I paid and left, but this was a decent experience turned poor over a few dollars that I would have given them anyway. Now I will not return to this bar, and I will encourage all my colleagues to stay away as well. Poor form Rebel's Guild.

A review that was forgotten... the place was easygoing. The staff was fun and friendly. The drinks were good but I feel were a bit overpriced. The food that was ordered was delicious however I did not care for the ceaser salad. I look forward to going back in the warmer season to full advantage of the patio.

Male Bartender Thursday night was incredibly rude and appeared as though he did not want to be there. Not sure why he was having such a bad night but maybe get him some help - especially when the hotel is aware that there are large corporate events and 100’s of guests confirmed for the time period months ahead of time. To top it all off, my drink was clearly requested “neat” and then served with 37 small ice cubes. Positive note: Female and Male bartenders Wednesday late afternoon were fantastic and friendly. Hotel needs a lot of work and renovation. Would recommend neither the bar nor the hotel.

We happened to be in the area on a Saturday night and noticed the awesome open flames outside surrounding Rebel's Guild, a hotel restaurant that is very separated from the hotel itself. There was little wait and so we decided to give it a try. Inside the space is super funky with this modern industrial gothic design with watchful "assassin's eye" logos camouflaged in the walls. Cool accent lights are all over the space with several large chandeliers serving as the primary focal point. Overall, the food was good, especially for a hotel restaurant which I usually try to avoid unless it's for convenience. There is a very small menu to choose from with a little of everything. We went with a burger and lobster roll. The lobster roll was very good and didn't have any hints of frozen taste/texture - it seemed very fresh. The burger was excellent and held up very well to my wife's pleas for it to be as "very well done" which can often lead to a dried out frisbee. The fries and roasted potatoes were good, but tasted as though they were made a long time ago and then slightly heated up. The fries tasted frozen which surprised me given how fresh the lobster tasted. The service was good (took quite a while for drinks to arrive which our server apologized for) and incredibly friendly. I would maybe give Rebel's Guild 3 stars were it not a hotel restaurant, which in my experience are in their own sub-category. But all-in all, its a funky, casual, and convenient place to eat in an area of town that mostly offers extremes on that scale.

Yelp
My friends and I went here for $1 oysters. We ordered more than 30 $1 oysters. We were thinking of getting more, but they ran out. The oysters were good for $1 each. I wouldn't pay more than $3 each for them because quite a few of them had shell pieces and the oysters weren't exceptional. The server didn't seem happy to take our order. The interior decor was nice though. When it turned dinner time, blue lights turned on.

Yelp
We were staying at the Revere hotel and meeting up with various family in town for a special occasion. We dined here on Mother's Day for Brunch. Our server/ bartender was great and made great drinks (we had the Freedom Flask: Four Roses bourbon with spiced pear cocktail which was rather like an old school punch, and the RG Signature old fashioned which was perfect.) Our table ordered smoked salmon flatbread, the Morning Glory flatbread, which had sausage, bacon, and fried egg, and the North End flat bread which had ricotta, prosciutto and sweet roasted red peppers. The flat breads were delicious. We also had the short rib hash and the Cure burger both good. An order of the blueberry pancakes also didn't disappoint. They had a nice hint of lemon zest to balance the blueberries.

Dean C.

Yelp
We tried to eat there. The place seem pretty vacant. When the waiter/bartender come to take an order I asked what was good what would he recommend? He said nothing. "We're a hotel restaurant. " With that enthusiastic endorsement with politely excused ourselves.

Rebecca B.

Yelp
Good drinks, cool atmosphere. The Bao buns could have used a little more seasoning. Overall, foot place for drink and an appetizer

Gus B.

Yelp
Very fine establishment with great tasting food. One of the best tasting clam chowder tasted here on our 2-week trip to several New England states.

Nicholas G.

Yelp
Breakfast was outstanding service, three days in a row different staff ! The strong ambience covers the books on the wall it is amazing. Hard boiled eggs, Paul's breakfast sandwich no meat for me . Evening hours , revere burger & midnight ride were my selection along with a second burger, fries & a cloud candy IPA . Please come by and try this hit. Enter on the first floor of revere hotel go towards bar exit side door to street get on elevator to second floor. Dinner was outstanding & the service was really good. Revere Burger , with an egg WOW game changer! Would I recommend? Yes Would I come back? Possibly

Tom S.

Yelp
Nice area with inside and outside seating with a fireplace outside. They make a great old fashion. Great service.

Stacy T.

Yelp
Food was sub-par--pretty bad when the best thing about a meal that includes a lobster roll is the side of French fries--severely understaffed and took quite awhile to get the food--would not recommend for anything other than drinks, and even that is suspect given the lack of beer on tap

Pamela B.

Yelp
Came here for a lil evening bite. We had Paul's balls which were tasty and asparagus which was good as well. Finished with the crème brûlée. They fired the top a lil too much but it still tasted great. The ambience is nice and intimate.

Alexander R.

Yelp
This restaurant is in the Revere Hotel, after checking in we stopped in for a few drinks and a bite to eat. We got there around 4pm so it was not crowded at all so we had no difficulty getting seated. We were a group of 11 and we figured it would be just as easy every else we went. We enjoyed some delicious New England Clam Chowder. After all we were in New England! The service was excellent and all the dishes were really good including Paul's Balls! Funny name for a dish of meatballs but they were definitely good. However, I should have done some research before going to Boston on getting reservations for dinner because we had much difficulty finding places to eat after this place. There seems to be insufficient number of restaurants in Boston. Coming from New York City/New Jersey where there is a diner every few blocks it was amazing how difficult it was to even get breakfast!

Bogdana B.

Yelp
Went there for brunch and while the food was quite good, drinks nicely made and the service really attentive, we were somewhat underwhelmed by several aspects: (we were incentivized to come by an Instagram post by @bostonfoodgram and the place did not really live up to the hype she created with her post!) a) we reserved via OpenTable which was the only option available to us (no one picked up when we called to reserve); b) we got a confirmation of the reservation and then got there and were told the place didn't open until 12 pm(!) even though we were confirmed for 11.30 am! c) the place was empty - for a Saturday lunchtime we were the only ones there for the entire hour we had brunch! d) the terrace that was advertised as open(we asked for a terrace table) was in fact closed for what seemed like an indefinite period. All in all it's a nice place, could probably be busier and have a nicer atmosphere in the evening but definitely not for brunch ...

Samantha R.

Yelp
A fun spot, hands down! Moody, relaxed ambience, social bartenders, and really exciting cocktails. A must go to if you are really in to trying new cocktail concoctions. For me if I get an experience just from my drink I will return to that spot over and over again. This is one of those spots.

Yelp
The manager set us out on the balcony because their rooftop bar where my original reservation was at was closed for a private event. He said that he would take care of us to make up for the mistake. (They didn't notify me in advance about the cancellation and failed to let anyone know before 6:30pm!!) We sat out on the balcony for over 25 min and decided to leave since it was apparent that no one would be there to serve us. I caught the manager on the way out and let him know what had happened. He just said "sorry." I was appalled by the response. I'll never recommend either place ever gain.

Yelp
Super disappointing. Me and my party had two meals here while we were staying at the revere hotel. The first time was room service and the produce was very bad quality and everything was extremely salty. The second time was at the restaurant. The waiter was not nice and never gave us water. He didn't write our orders down which eventually led us to receive incorrect meals. The food was also just bad and overcooked.

Saroasha E.

Yelp
Close by to the Plaza where we were staying. Good location. Great service. Above average food. Awesome dessert! We both ordered their burger it was good but felt super full for the next 6 hours straight. I had only half the bun and a few fries it was THAT filling. Hubby and I shared the creme brûlée and it was absolutely amazing. Nice and cold just how I like it.

Sandy T.

Yelp
Great food, great ambiance. We enjoyed the Brie as an appetizer which was wonderful and the currants were a nice added surprise. Burger was delicious, served piping hot with amazing flavor and perfectly seasoned fries. The crab cake was divine, no added fillers just real crab meat on a bed of arugula! Cheers to the chef here!! Out of everyone we've met at restaurant's in Boston, Tony was the best!!!

Gigi L.

Yelp
Service is great, nice atmosphere, restrooms are clean, I would have given them a 5 star but they ran out of clam chowder and the entrance location seems secretive... Great time staff was professional

Karl K.

Yelp
Food was pretty good. A bit pricey, but it is downtown Boston. Wasn't too keen on paying $20 for 2 diet cokes and 2 refills. I mean we're buying a $100 lunch. They couldn't comp 2 soda refills????

Dan S.

Yelp
The service.....it literally took an hour to get a drink. From someone in the service industry....talk about LOST SALES!!!! Definitely make sure you're drinking before you come here!!!!!

D G.

Yelp
The two stars is one for each experience. This review is for two experiences. First was just to grab two glasses of wine. Friday night two bar tenders in the weeds so bad, they would need a bushwacker but in there case a barback to help them. 20 minutes later and the bar tender looking at me three times we were able to get our two glasses of wine from the barback. The second time was the next night for dinner. Got a reservation on open table, super easy not busy at all... we sat down and were promptly met by our waitress. Hopefully she will be better in her next career. Sat down at 7pm she promptly came over... returned 22 minutes later to get our drink order... enough time for my wife to go up to our room get her glasses and return with 10 more minutes before she would return. Food was good three stars. Do not get the meat ball appetizer. Dry not good. Saw the waitress about 4 or 5 times the entire meal. Hotel is great, this place not worth going to.

Mark H.

Yelp
Mike is an amazing bartender. Food is good. The chicken lolly pops are a good deal. The charcuterie small plate is not worth the $$ Overall a good hotel bar

Reb K.

Yelp
Had a great time at Rebels Guild the other night I love the look, decor, and ambiance here... they know how to stick to a theme and how to throw a party! The chef also accommodated my dietary restrictions too which was very kind and the effort was noted Rebels Guild is located at the fab Revere hotel in Boston which is amazing! I love it more and more each time! Check them out and stay tuned for special events!

phyllis n.

Yelp
Out of convenience because we're hotel guests, we chose Rebels Guild for breakfast. The only option was a breakfast buffet. The buffet included scrambled eggs (likely powdered) bacon, undercooked sausage, weak coffee and the typical yogurt, cereals etc. the price was an astonishing $53. Total gouge! Restaurant staff usually ask how our meal was. Nobody asked us this question. They know how it was, I guess. This is a one and done for us. One woman actually working, and three manager type males standing around because there were no other diners, I wonder why....

M R.

Yelp
Great food and service. Waiter was super nice and answered questions to help us figure out which drinks and food we'd like best.

Rod H.

Yelp
During my 5 days at the Revere I had breakfast and lunch. I feel like the breakfast bar is overpriced. My company has it included so it doesn't count against my daily expenses. The bar had eggs sausage, soggy bacon, potatoes and pancakes. The same every day, and service was poor. For lunch I had a salad and bowl of fruit. I needed the freshness of fruits and veggies and that hit the spot.

Rob B.

Yelp
Great service. Trendy vibe and some great decor. Mid-century seating for round tables, booths, high tops and a bar. Diverse menu with seafood and turf being prominent offerings. Pretty full wine list and nü takes on classic cocktails. Local beers. Classic American deserts. The short rib was primo. See photo. Will be back.

Mike N.

Yelp
Cool vibe going on here. The decor was an edgy colonialist mix with illuminati symbols hidden around the rooms. Oh yeah; great food too. The strip steak was really tasty, although a bit on the tough side. The cornbread in a skillet was sweet and just a tad crispy on the edges. Wife said the chowder was excellent and the salmon fresh. The baked beans were sweet and tangy. One of our favorite meals on our Boston trip!

April H.

Yelp
We were staying at the attached hotel and after a long day walking around Boston we didn't want to go elsewhere to eat after getting back to the hotel. I don't know if we were just tired or what but the signage and directions on how to actually get into the restaurant were poor. The service was slow. My husband had a burger and said it was fine. I ordered meatballs and an order of mac and cheese. Both were ok but the mac and cheese was cold. I had to send it back to be heated up and that always freaks me out. Overall, just an ok restaurant.

Stephen H.

Yelp
I don't write many reviews unless things are very good or very bad. Honestly I LOVE writing positive reviews because I'm all about sunshine and happiness and telling people they did a great job is my favorite thing. This experience was truly bad all around. We arrived 6 minutes late for our 6pm reservation - seated immediately without issue. The waiter, who was apparently a manager, took our drink order quickly which seemed like we were off to a good start. Drinks took a suspiciously long time to arrive. Whatever. We ordered food. My fiance had a pasta dish and I picked a burger. ...We did not see this waiter again for a very long time. He refilled water once. After about an hour of waiting around for food, we almost had to get up and leave because we were seeing a show at 8 and it was 7:30. The manager/waiter came over to apologize. He gave his card for complimentary drinks after the show - which was a nice offer I guess but wildly impractical and we would not make the trek back for drinks that weren't good to begin with. He also comped the drinks we did buy which saved us about 30 bucks. Another nice gesture but man when you only get to have a date night once in a while and it's a complete waste of time - gestures only go so far. Sometimes food takes a long time and restaurants are busy. We get that. There were just so many employees standing around or straightening chairs or whatever that it's kind of amazing that this experience was so bad. Also my burger was no better than like... Wendy's. Good lord. My fiance's pasta looked like it came out of a kraft box. We waited this long for food we cook when we're feeling lazy at home. Don't eat here. This should be an embarrassing experience for those who own and manage this place.

James H.

Yelp
I had an excellent time at Rebels Guild! The lobster bites were so delicious. I also enjoyed all the drinks I had. I had the walnut boulevardie TWICE. DI-VINE! We also had duck crostini, cornbread (GIT THAT BUTTER), cauliflower and the duck entree. Oh yes and the CREME BRÛLÉE. Thank you lord Jesus for the creme brûlée. Manager David Nguyen was welcoming and kind. Beautiful experience all around. 10 out of 10 would recommend. Also SUPER cute design.

Sujata K.

Yelp
Food was ok, neither good nor bad. Service was basically nonexistent. The menu falsely advertised a variety of coffee options (espresso, latte, etc.) but they only offer black coffee. The bar was missing basic ingredients (like mint) to make the drinks on the menu.

Joshua C.

Yelp
We had reservations here for New Year's Day brunch and it was a disaster from the second we arrived. The staff seemed totally lost, and while they were friendly, it really didn't make up for an awful experience. The door was locked when we showed up for our 11 AM reservation, apparently, most of the other diners were staying at the attached hotel. We ordered bloody Mary's and a cappuccino. The cocktails were decent, but quite overpriced. The cappuccino was a shot of espresso. When we asked them to correct it, they had no idea how despite the drink being on the menu. They returned with another shot of espresso and a glass of milk. The food wasn't much better. I had a breakfast sandwich that tasted like a microwaved Starbucks sandwich. Another member of our party had the Roasted Beet Tartine, it was awful. It had lettuce instead of arugula, almost no goat cheese and was not representative of the dish as described on the menu. It's possible we caught them on an off day, but their staff seemed totally lost and I would not return.

Shawn W.

Yelp
I SO WANTED to love this place. We live in the Village around the corner. After waiting 15-20 minutes for someone to take our drink order, one of us went to the bar to order (and the bartenders were rude). We finally got to order our appetizers, and someone else cane over to take the menus away. We told her we only ordered appetizers & needed the menus still, but she took them away. It was the most bizarre experience I've ever had at a restaurant. We told them we were leaving (which I have never done before) and I asked to see the manager. He graciously invited us to stay, but at that point we all had had enough. I'm sad because I really wanted to try the oysters, the burger, and the drinks. Please make some changes, Rebels Guild, because the concept seems like a great idea.

Kate C.

Yelp
The food is delicious and the staff is friendly and helpful. We have gone a few times now with larger parties and have no complaints. The brown bread is fantastic, as well as the cornbread. Our favorite dishes include the Brick Pressed Chicken and the Salmon. YUM. Very friendly service, and efficient -- we have gone several times with large groups without a hitch.

Heather M.

Yelp
Staff was friendly and prompt, but website greatly misrepresents. This is just a hotel restaurant with a VERY limited menu. Food was mediocre- not terrible fantastic. Yelp menu had SO many options... actual menu not so much. Decor is absolutely charming, so it could be a great place to meet for drinks if you're in the area, but the food does make this a worthwhile destination.

Michelle S.

Yelp
Stopped in on the way to a show at the Wang theater. We were running a bit behind due to traffic. This cut our options a bit as we needed a place that was not busy. Walked right in. Took a bit of time for drinks, but the waitress was nice and when we let them know we did want food but wanted to make sure we would be able to have a quick turn around they did great getting the food out quickly. Wine was good, food was just average, some hits, some misses. There was some cool design features, but something about it felt "off" as in an identity crisis feel. Please, please, please give your waitress at least a small tray so she doesn't have to carry only 2 drinks at a time and keep running back and forth to the bar. I don't mean the huge ones from chain restaurants but even a small one that you could put a few on? I think that was part of the issue is the poor think had to make so many trips up there for every table. Three alone for our one table.

Briana E.

Yelp
This was extremely disappointing. Food tasted microwaved. Drinks were too strong to finish. Menu was so small and they were out of half of the items. Felt like I was at an Applebees...an overpriced Applebees.

S C.

Yelp
I guess my review would hover between 3 and 3.5--and I'm mostly docking stars for the overpriced food. And I know overpricing food is nothing new for a hotel restaurant. All the stars go toward the convenience of having a decent hotel restaurant (nice ambience, albeit a bit dark) and also having friendly and helpful waitstaff like Jorge, who was our waiter and did a great job. Husband ordered fish and chips, while I ordered the Revere burger. My burger was actually delicious and juicy, but husband only had three small pieces of crispy-outside-but-mushy-inside fish on a big bed of fries. For the price, it was like paying $7 per small piece of fish. Both of our fries were perfectly crispy and golden brown, but way too salty--and we like salt! This is a very convenient place to eat if you're staying at this hotel and the weather is bad and/or you're too tired or lazy to go out. However, I wouldn't go out of my way to come here if you're not already staying at the hotel. That being said, the hotel itself is really excellent!

Chris S.

Yelp
Pretty, pretty, pretty lame. Begging for drinks on a slow Friday. Music is blaring for some odd reason....there are 8 people here. Glad I'm over paying for this nonsense

Jacqueline N.

Yelp
We tried Rebels Guild last night and we had a great time! They did such a great job with the renovation of the old Emerald Lounge space, it's now a relaxing, hip restaurant space. The biggest thing that was so noticeable was that the staff were so attentive and friendly. For a restaurant that has only been open for 7 weeks, it seems as if they have worked out most of the kinks. The menu is filled with American classics with a twist, things like sliders, fritters and meat loaf all make for a comfort food filled night out. The trendy drinks balance or the somewhat simple menu. I have to say they did a great job with drinks because they are creative and tasty! Would definitely come back in a again!

Raymond L.

Yelp
Ambience: 5 Stars Service: 5 Stars Food: 3.5 Stars Drinks: 4 Stars Prices: 3.5 Stars Our server was awesome and attentive. The cornbread was amazing. However my fiancées pasta dish was just average at best as well as my lobster fritters. Unfortunately the appetizer cornbread and my side salad overtook our main dishes in taste and quality. But the experience, decor and service made the meal as pleasant as possible. $7 for lobster Fritters is a pretty great price, as where $17 for an old fashioned with woodford reserve seemed a little steep. With a better balance of cost over the menu and perhaps a few more entree offerings I think this review could easily switch to 5 Stars in the future.

Brian B.

Yelp
The place was dead and the service was so dang slow it kind of ruined the experience. Thank goodness for good company...

Terrance C.

Yelp
Went for an early dinner on a Thursday at 530p. Pros: 1. The service was one of the most attentive and courteous I've had. Jorge was awesome and friendly. 2. Great food . 3. Nice decoration Considerations: 1. Noise picked up quite a bit by 7p. Still able to have a conversation tho. 2. Food was good but there are other places in Boston with the same or better. We had the atlantic salmon and prime ribeye , for main courses. Everything was delicious and perfect cooked

Mark G.

Yelp
We stopped in on a Tuesday at 2:00 in the afternoon. There were two other people in there so it was not crowded. Bartender did not seem interested in being a server. We ordered a salad and two sandwiches and the salad never came but was still on our bill. Ham and cheese came out cold. This restaurant is definitely a no.

David B.

Yelp
Great place for drinks and food. Stopped by for brunch today and it was amazing. Food was excellent, scrambled eggs, country ham and bacon. And amazing cornbread in a skillet. Yummy! The atmosphere is chill and sophisticated. Best thing overall is Allison. She works the bar and tables and is fun, friendly and attentive She helps to round out the overall experience. Great place, check it out.

Wyatt V.

Yelp
I arrived just over 40 minutes before closing. I got some bs story of how they are closed...and contrary to the online menus they are closed... The same bartender that give me this bullshit story is the same one who I saw giving attitude to two guests 2 nights ago he doesn't seem to want to do his job

Fred K.

Yelp
I'm not sure which was worse, the food or the service. We were the only people in the restaurant when we arrived, and it took 45 minutes for our food to arrive. The tomato soup was lukewarm, and salmon and the burgers were way, way overcooked.

Noreen W.

Yelp
Restaurant is very nicely decorated for the holidays and that's the best thing I can say about the place. We had breakfast there and it wasn't worth the price. Food was just ok and the service was awful. No one came to check on us and the place was not busy. Had to get up to get our own condiments and find someone to get a refill on our coffee. It was $60 dollars for two simple meals, coffee and a latte. Definitely not worth the price for mediocre food and crummy service.

TL B.

Yelp
I love coming here for meetups. The seats are always so comfortable, the food is good, and the bartenders are all too notch. They all know their stuff and I like the attention to quality.

Amr A.

Yelp
Ordered the Rebel Dipper. Wife ordered grilled cheese and tomato soup. The beef in my sandwich and my wife's tomato soup tasted like they came out of a can. Can't recommend.
