I been here 3xs this year for different events. The food is great and seasoned very well. There’s many options and you also get champagne with your admission. There were some minor issues and Eleanor and the Manager resolved the issues quickly . I’m please with the service here. 2/3xs the music was on point and the DJs had everyone dancing. The last DJ wasn’t that good.

One of my Philly’s favorite nightclubs. DJs are always playing a perfect mix of EDM/Hiphop/Latin. Bottle service and GA are both a great time, and the hostesses are phenomenal. Danny has helped us host numerous events with large groups and it’s always been a good time for reasonable pricing for night life. Highly recommended spot.

Dude this was such a good time!! We went on November 20th, Saturday night got there at 10:30 was really easy to come in no line, really nice vibe in the waiting area with games and a Bar. - Dj this night was amazing! Place quickly filled out after 11 and the party was on! We stayed until 2am had a blast the music was lit! Me and my wife thank you! We got lucky with parking 2 blocks down the street payed no fee for street parking after 10pm

Came here to celebrate my friends birthday and had a great time. The buffet was amazing, the music and the vibe was on point. Rec &Royal knows how to have a good time. A bottle of champagne for each person.

I originally booked another brunch party in the city to celebrate my birthday but the venue cancelled two days before my event “via text”. I immediately went to Rec & Royals site in hopes of availability last minute for my party of 12. Thankfully it was and let me tell you, my friends and I had an AMAZING TIME! My section was spacious, the host was polite and very accommodating! The reason I gave a 4 star instead of 5 is because of the buffet style brunch. The food was ok but the lines were long and it took awhile for the food to be refilled. They had DJ Casper as the DJ, he was in tune with the crowd and my friends and I danced the entire time. It was fun and I really enjoyed my birthday! I will definitely be back!

Awesome staff, especially security and event coordinator! Danny was great to work with and plan service with, he was responsive and answered all my questions. I needed accessibility and the security team made me feel safe navigating the stairs and was extremely attentive and caring. The karaoke room is gorgeous and had a great vibe, super friendly people. The arcade is unique and a ton of fun! Latin night in the club had a really good DJ. Will definitely be back

The buffet wasn't nothing to write home about. It wasn't enough food options like its brunch but they had no eggs no grits only two chopped fruits not actual fruit salad no turkey bacon only pork. The champagne they serve for the mimosas was super light never felt not even slightly buzzed. And we had our own personal bottles and we didn't feel a thing. Nevertheless the staff was great and the Dj was great the club part of brunch was definitely a vibe.

This plce is Vibe and we had ball! The Waitress made my drink and it had alot of liquor in it! Bottle girls made know, i need to get in the Gym! Crowd was mixed and young!

Interesting that I can't seem to even get to making reservations for their brunch and calling is also a joke. Not even sure if you can call this a review. Sadly I can't rate this a zero. Was really hoping to have had this event scheduled for a birthday celebration

Went to Rec & Royal for a friend's early birthday celebration. Walking in requires you to walk down a flight of stairs, which gave me cave like vibes. They have to check your id no matter your age and your bags. I was required to throw away my water bottle as guests in the past have filled theirs with alcohol and attempted to leave. The bouncer was not super kind about it, but I complied, and we were allowed in. We had the arcade room to ourselves, which had an ice hockey table, skeeball, tetris, and a few other arcade games. I tried playing tetris, but unfortunately, it was broken. We told one of the managers and he quickly tried to fix it. Because it was unable to be fixed, he gave us some quarters, and we played skee ball instead. My mom and I had fun playing and challenging each other! The buffet opened, and they had an amazing spread of fresh fruit, danishes, bacon, sausage, waffles, tater tots, and other items. They even had a carving station with roast beef and an omelet bar. I got a mix of items, and for the most part, it was good. However, the roast beef and turkey sausage were a little dry and salty! The best part was the fresh pineapple, my omelet with onions, mushrooms, American cheese, and the mac and cheese! I love a mac and cheese with a soft and crunchy crust! The live DJ was amazing playing a mix of old school cuts and new jams. We all had a great time! However, minus one star for poor customer service by some of the staff--not all - just a couple.

Went here for brunch 12pm-4pm. It was 10 of us, we paid $65 per person (my friend collected our coins and she paid online beforehand). You need to RSVP online first-- no walkins! I had an overall good time the DJ was great & the vibe was certainly there. the service was pretty good and the waitresses were dressed like the girls at hooters. *hot* they were very attentive. Checked on us a lot and bussed the tables often! My issue was the buffet-- it was not efficient for the amount of people they serve. the line was OD long for the food and the food was not that good. the "unlimited" brunch part was only from 12p-1:30 most of that time was spent in line. so you're really going for the dance party more so than the brunch which i really had the most fun. Beware! Unlimited alcohol is illegal in PA so this isn't a "bottomless mimosa" restaurant. Lastly, the champagne is only 10% alcohol. We still had to order drinks from the regular bar. Overall good time, lovely decorations! Also lots of steps to get down to the main area. The dance party was lit.

My siblings threw me a surprise birthday brunch here and it was a fun experience. Despite the food buffet being mid and the elevator not having access to the lower level so you have to walk up/down a flight of steps, i enjoyed my time. I did like the french toast. The dj was on point. It was a whole vibe. I love how they shine a light on the birthday people. The service was cool as well. I would return to this place for the vibes!

My cousin celebrated her birthday at Rec & Royal. The bottle girls were very attentive and checked on us throughout the 4 hours we were there. The buffet had many options but the line does get long and you only have 1 1/2 hours to get food. Maybe having two food lines would help. I wanted more food but didn't feel like standing in the long line again. The DJ was everything! Fun vibes! A great time!

I'm from DC which is know for being one of the "best brunch area". When I tell you this place is the best brunch buffet I've have had with a great price. We got a whole champagne bottle per person with our reservation. The options as a buffet were endless. Most buffets are dry and underwhelming. This satisfied every taste bud. The popcorn chicken and tots were sooo good. There's some seasoning on them that takes you to a whole new world. Omelets are cooked fresh and to your liking. I would 100% come back no questions ask. The music and vibes after eating are just fantastic. Idk when I'll be back in Philly but I do know when I come back I'll be right here for brunch.

I am also disappointed they reduced the included champagne to .5 bottles per person. Their previous responses about rising costs make 0 sense. We looked up the bottles they gave us and they cost $7 each. So each bottle probably got $1-2 more expensive over the pandemic so its justification to give half the amount?? Seeing their previous disclosure against providing bottomless its clear this is just an attempt to trick people into buying additional drinks at the bar. The $50 face value is a trap. after fees and additional drinks you will end up over $100 in the hole per person

AMAZING! We had a bachelorette party that wanted to do karaoke but no where else in the city would get back! Danny (manager) took care of us with a last minute booking and tons of accommodations once we got there! The staff constantly checked on us in our private room and delivered drinks on individual tabs if we wanted more than the free bottles of vodka that came with the room. The girls were super nice and ultimately made the experience that much better!! Song catalog was extensive and updated too! The room had some awesome band/music decor and the rest of the club outside our private room was hoppin too! The bride to be had a blast and if it weren't for Danny and his AWESOME staff, we would've just ended up at a local dive bar. If you need a group event done right, GO HERE!!!! If you're looking for a great night out with friends, GO HERE!!! I know I'll be back again with friends in the future for sure!

We bought tickets to a Taylor Swift night. The ticket stated the night started at 9pm. We arrived around 10pm and we were informed the music would start around 10:30. Our ticket in included a drink (which was great!). We waited until 10:30 and then entered the room. No Taylor swift. Not one song. We asked multiple people and each person said something different. It's started at 10:30, 11:00, sometime between 11:30 and 12... then the DJ said she would play a couple songs. This was false advertising. We were extremely disappointed with the night

Took a few friends to check out this newer nightlife spot in the rittenhouse area. I think it just opened in sept 2019. Billed as a club/karoake/arcade scene, our group was excited to check it out. Location is great, right below davios restaurant. Security and line to get in was quick and efficient. No cover charge on a Saturday night, yay! And Free coat check. Music was great! The club has 2 areas, 1 the "gaming area" and the other the club part. Club part we spent the least time in, music was more current hits, all the VIP tables were in here but there was still room for everyone to dance and hang out but it got too crowded for us. The "game" room was our favorite and game is in quotes because we were expecting a bit more in the way of actual games. They had 1 pinball machine, 2 arcade games and one of them was broken. Would be nice to have larger screen and working games like group pac man or Tetris. Mgmt was nice though about getting our money back for the broken games. The karoake rooms are also on the edges of this room. I like that there were couches, tables and bar stools to relax on but a lot of people were dancing to the awesome DJ that was cranking out old school hits. The bartenders were excellent, drinks were well made and I didn't get to try the menu of unique alcoholic and mocktails they have! If you go, def check out their menu online beforehand and try them! And the crowd ranged from mid 20s to late 40s and a really multicultural group on the night I was there. Fix the game situation and this is a 5 star rating, definitely check it out!

Average at best as a venue. DJs are decent. The brunch special HOWEVER, is not worth it. Everything is EXTREMELY overpriced for what they serve. Their brunch was god awful. I wish Gordan Ramsey could run through your kitchen staff/food because it was such a rip off. Those pictures online are NOTHING like what it actually is. The only thing that was guaranteed was the cheap bottles of champagne. Get a new chef y'all and stop falsely advertising your shitty food. From reading the other negative reviews the management of this place is incredibly sketchy. The only thing that saves this place is the cool ppl that go to it. I've been to many places around the nation and this place is like an overpriced Walmart of venues. Either close it down or do better.

Pretty great spot. My boyfriend didn't like it but it was pretty okay to me. Great upbeat music, staff were nice and consistent. Very clean and they have bottle service.

Went here for a friends birthday. I had low expectations when it came to the food but I was pleasantly surprised. It had a lot of flavor and it didn't take too long to get through the line. They even have an omelette station. The DJ was really good and I loved the bottle service. Would definitely come back and highly recommend!

Had a great experience at Rec & Royal for my girlfriends 25th birthday party. Danny the general manager was extremely helpful with booking and figuring out what would be best for my party accommodations. Our service was great and the staff was very kind and caring. Would definitely recommend their private rooms for birthday parties! I will definitely be coming back!

The ambiance was wonderful. The service was great & so was the servers. The food was very salty. Something's was over cooked. However we had a great time. We went for brunch on Saturday that just passed.

Came for a brunch and first they asked me to wait outside for 10 mins because they weren't open yet but the door was open. Then they charged $65 a person for brunch when each person only gets 1 bottle of $7 champagne for 3 hours. Food is only served until 130and there is a limit to how much you can get. Good was delicious tho. We couldn't get seated until the host showed up which was ridiculous considering we paid almost $70 to be here for 3 hours. Definitely would not recommend.

Pretty dead when I met at midnight. Better club-like atmospheres in Philly. Definitely might come back for karaoke.

Was here for a birthday brunch. The music was GREAT. Played a mixture of new and old, club bobs, and trending songs. The food could have been better and mimosas could have been better.

I've gone to Rec & Royal a few times now! Coat check is a plus and being able to decide between two different rooms is awesome! The first room is throwback themed and then not too much farther is the club area where more current hits are being played and you have the option for bottle service. We ordered a section on NYE and it was fantastic! The servers were attentive, fun & super personable. I'd definitely recommend this place for a fun night out.

If I could leave a zero I would. The female manager was the most disgusting person I have ever met. There was a woman in an extremely uncomfortable position with a man and when I tried to help her the manager was the most unhelpful and inconsiderate person I have ever met. She told me I was being ridiculous and over dramatic when the woman clearly needed help. She made me feel like I was crazy when I was just trying to help someone clearly in need and in an unsafe situation. This manager needs to be fired and help accountable for her actions. This is not acceptable and I will not tolerate this kind of response. I will never come back to this establishment because of this manager. She needs to be held accountable.

The best time I've had in a club! One of the things that makes this club stand out from the rest, is the atmosphere and employees. It's the best vip service I've found in philly. Such a fun environment ! Can't wait to go back!

This was my first time coming the Rec & Royal for the nye celebration. The ticket was a bit pricey compared to some other spots so I assumed the service and venue would be nice. The venue it's self is nice, however it was clear they were not prepared to host this event. They ran out of cups early on and then ran out of liquor as well - this was all around 11pm... 2 hours into a 5 hour event. Honestly charging over a $100 for an open bar that isn't properly stocked for such an event is questionable. The staff was nice though.

What a place! Went for the first time recently and loved loved loved it!! Even though there was a long line-we were in it for literally, 45 seconds..Bouncers were very nice too! Got in and even though there we're plenty of people, there was plenty of room too..The GM walked right up to us a little bit into it and asked how we were doing..very generous with his time..think his name way Ryan? Drinks were good too..well definitely becoming back!

This is one of my favorite places to stop by w/ friends for some dancing near the end of the night. It's really lively and much closer than Old City dance-type of bars. It's more relaxed in the front area of the bar which is usually where my friends and I enjoy hanging (you can actually hear one another unlike a lot of loud bars of similar vibe like Fados). Getting drinks isn't bad at all (it'll get busy late late in the night but that's everywhere you go). I also think everyone inside including the staff is friendly. As for music, I definitely enjoy the throw-backs. I regularly rotate btwn Porta, Plough and here for a more wild night ;)

I organized an event here and the managers and staff were smashing to work with. Extremely organized, flexible, and overall provided me and my group with a really great time! Would recommend 1000% and am planning on coming back myself + larger events.

Recently attended the Saturday Rec and Royal Brunch. Would recommended to anyone in the philly area or those visiting. Amazing food, awesome staff, and great music all around.

Giving this place four stars, the bartenders were amazing and attentive, drink specials were great and the floor plan was pretty cool. I liked the artwork and decor and liked that there were two rooms to party in arcade side and club side. Only reason I'm not giving five stars is because I found most of the music to be a little dated. I didn't hear a lot of top 40 pop or hip-hop music which killed the vibe a little but that can be worked on.

I went to RR for my birthday and i had a blast with my group of 5! We reserved the small karaoke room, all you need for a group of 5-6 for karaoke. During my time there the server was very attentive and the manager was able to accommodate us. While I did go the weekend before quarantine for the coronavirus and don't know if that impacted the scene, the setup and concept of the club is great and looks like a good time when full. Despite almost no one at the club my group and I enjoyed our time there and will most likely go back at a later time. One thing we were disappointed with was the small amount of spanish music selection, if any, I don't remember there being much.

Recently came to Rec & Royal for their NYE celebration. Service was snyde and rude to start the night off due to the volume of attendees and limitted bar staff. You would think they could afford to hire an extra bartender or two, especially considering baseline tickets were $90 and they also charged an extra $100 for VIP tickets. Now this brings me to my next topic and possible lament. Various areas of the space were sectioned off for VIP-only. However, some of the areas were not properly marked and as such were hard to distinguish the no-go area for us unwilling to cough up close to 14 hours of minimum wage work. Now this isn't a problem. I get it. Some people need to feel special for having money to blow. However, a problem arises when some lively member of the elite VIP sucker punches someone in my group for mistakenly tesspassing on the bourgeoisie's precious 100sf of club space and security decides its best to kick out the punchee rather than the puncher. So I suppose if you can afford the extra money for the VIP experience and would like to punch some well-minded folk without justification or consequences, this place is for you. For those of us unable or unwilling to dish out the extra cash on an already exorbitantly-priced ticketed event, I recommend you stay far away; if only to avoid loads of frustration and a black eye without any recourse. All that being said, cheers to 2020!

I went here a few weeks back for my birthday. At the time all of the private rooms were full, but they were finishing up a new room that they hoped would be done in time for my birthday so they could accommodate us. Danny made sure to get us that room and helped us every step of the way. Anthony another fellow employee there and our server Anna were also amazing and super quick and super accommodating. I highly recommend this place for a private room. Everything was awesome!

So happy there is a new place to go for nightlife in Philly! Loved the classy and fun vibe, the games, DJ and drinks! Can't wait to go back!

Doormen were friendly. Place was cool, a few different rooms and vibes going on. 2 stars for being terribly understaffed on a Saturday night. Literally two bartenders working a 5 deep bar. Took about 20 minutes to get served. They were out of most of the beer they were advertising. We finished our drinks and bounced. No way we were waiting that long for a drink again. Drink prices are great for being in the city though. I probably wouldn't go back.

We went here for a birthday brunch. Each guests paid for their own admission, but the staff did not allow the guests to sit for the scheduled 12-1:30 brunch slot until the the birthday guest arrived. She had to call and ask them to seat us. Extremely unprofessional. The tables had foggy champagne flutes and sticky and visibly dirty orange juice pitchers waiting for us at our table. No one drank the orange juice, we used the juice bar by the buffet which was overly crowded because it was poorly set up. The food wasn't being refilled, guests had to wait as our feet stuck to the floors that were sticky everywhere. My omelet and the Mac and cheese that we had to wait for were delicious though. I would order this from a to go menu. The DJ was hit or miss but he kept the party going. We were seated right next to the DJ booth and it was not enough space or seating for a party of 13. Also, staff used our seating area for access to the DJ booth multiple times while we were still eating. Not what we were expecting but we made the best of it for the birthday girl. It's a dope concept but poorly executed.

Too sexist. Went to Rec & Royal for the first and last time 2-3 weeks ago with a group of girlfriends. Right off the bat we were insulted that the female bartenders wore lingerie for male entertainment while the male bartenders were fully clothed. Women outnumber men in Philadelphia, and Pennsylvania state as a whole, so this makes no sense. Where is OUR entertainment? Where are the hot male bartenders with 6 pack abs? I am never going back unless they take female customers into consideration.

Went here for new years. Not impressed. They ran out of glasses at one point to my knowledge. One of the male bartenders favored men and had women waiting forever. Multiple women commented on that point. Overall, I don't plan on going back

This review is based on my experience pre-thanksgiving night. The event was well promoted (following on Instagram keeps me up to date). I really do like what they did with the place; multiple rooms, game room, karaoke. It's an interesting set up and nothing like the previous occupants of this space. I appreciate the 2 rooms with 2 different DJ's so there are 2 different vibes going on. The front room reminds me more of a bar, chill type setting and the back room is more club, sparklers, bottle service that vibe. The drink prices are very reasonable for the city, a beer ranges from 7-10 and my Ciroc drink ran me 11. The one thing I would caution is lookout for the DJ. The back area was DJ Casper and I found him to be all over the place with music. We went from pop to old school hip hop back to early 2000s hip hop. I think if I go again I'll be more selective regarding who's DJ'ing that night. I haven't been on the weekend but from the Instagram stories it appears pretty lit.

Rec has such great vibes, amazing music, awesome game room, karaoke rooms. The best of every world. Great location and a really fun venue. A great spot for a party or night out

I've been wanting to check this place out for sometime now and I'm glad I did. On New Year's Eve my boyfriends family was visiting from out of town and we wanted to show them the best of what philly had to offer, especially on such a big night. After much debating we decided on rec&royal and we are all glad we did. The location, atmosphere, staff , music and all around vibe of the place was more then we could have ever hoped for. I knew that regardless of our location we would of had a great time but I honestly have to say rec&royal blew it out of the water for us. The bottle service was quick and entertaining and our server was a sweetheart as well as very attentive. The ability to be able to enjoy multiple experiences in one building on the same night was the cherry on top! Not only is this venue a night club but it has an arcade and karaoke room with in it as well, how absolutely awesome is that! What more could you ever want ? Needless to say we hand an absolute blast will all be returning very soon!

Great experience through and through. The team and Rec & Royal did an exceptional job, not only by creating what I believe one of the best and unique experiences here in Philadelphia but setting the bar for the future of nightlife here in the city of brotherly love. The bottle service area is perfect the vibe is five stars. The staff couldn't be better. I highly recommend for any night you want to let go have fun and really enjoy life

Great new hot spot in Philly! Getting in is always fast and simple. From the management to bartenders to servers to coat check...everyone is super helpful and beyond nice! The music never disappoints and plays an awesome variety that had us dancing all night! Not to mention this is the place to be for weekend brunch parties. Our server was on top of her game checking in frequently to make sure we had everything we needed. If you're looking for a guaranteed good time, I'd def recommend checking this place out
