Rechberg 1837

"The Rechberg 1837 is a pleasant restaurant with a unique philosophy – it only uses regional produce that was available around 1837 (the year the house was built), i. e. before industrialisation. Innovative dishes such as slices of country pork on pea puree with fried barley and pickled onion are served in the evening, with a more traditional selection available at lunchtime. Cosy atmosphere and charming service." - Michelin Inspector

Very cute little restaurant with excellent service. The ingredients really are the star here, 100% regional and cooked with ingredients that would have been available pre-industrialisation. Most plates had a very nice acidity, but when making the ingredients the star you can‘t overpower spices. Hence, if you‘re used to international or spicy cuisine, this might not be the best fit for you. Wines are 100% from Switzerland as well, but don‘t expect that they‘ll compare to some wines of our neighbouring countries. If you‘re looking for „mainstream“ guide michelin experience this isn‘t for you, but we had an excellent evening‘

The restaurant atmosphere is very charm and intimate for a romantic dinner. We had natural wines and they were good. Service is spotless although a bit dry and limited to the description of the plates/ingredients. The dishes are visually amazing, you really see the amount of care and work put to produce such creations. Also the balance of ingredients is good and the fact that they are all locally and seasonally produced reinforces the passion and care for a sustainable cuisine. However, most of the dishes were tasteless or with a low taste. In my personal opinion, when you strive for quality of products and of preparations you cannot forget the taste and the flavours. A lot of dishes had an intriguing ingredients mix however at the palate they had a very light taste and consistence. Everything depends on how you define and classify quality: if I have to value the sustainability of the cuisine I’d give 5 stars to this restaurant, however as for me the taste of food is key, I can’t give more than 3 star. I fully understand that things cannot be perfect, however the price of a 7 course menu here is hefty (160.-), so my expectations were also very high on all above parameters.

There's a choice between a 6-course surprise menu or a 3-course surprise menu, with or without wine pairing. That's it. All the dishes are made with locally sourced ingredients, and the wines are also sourced locally. The dishes are well-made and showcase a lot of creativity. The flavors and textures are carefully balanced, and the ingredients are of high quality. While I do have to admit that I left a bit hungry (to the restaurant's defense: I eat like a horse), the overall dining experience was great. The restaurant has a warm and inviting atmosphere, and the staff is friendly and hospitable. Overall, if you're looking for a unique and memorable dining experience, this restaurant is definitely worth a visit.

It simply couldn’t have been better. Beautiful outdoor space, casual yet elevated. Lara was the prefect host: personable, knowledgeable and charming. She found us a super special bottle which we enjoyed to its last drop. The food was innovative, satisfying, beautiful and delicious. Can’t wait to go back!

Restaurant Rechberg has captured my heart since my first visit 4 years ago. Every time, the kitchen team surprises me all over again with a sophisticated, carefully composed menu. It's amazing to see how they combine their values for locality, the connection to producers and the origin of the ingredients with seasonality and sustainability. The atmosphere is so pleasantly homely that you immediately feel at ease and in incredibly good hands. Chapeau also to the wonderful service team. As someone who loves culinary (but also as someone who likes to eat - in other words, everyone), it's a must to know Rechberg's kitchen.

The warm feeling of dining as family guests! We had the loveliest of evenings at Rechberg - the hospitality was immediately warm and chef and co-owner Carlos took exceptional care to ensure that our needs were met and no detail was left unnoticed. We really enjoyed their exceptional 6-course locally sourced menu that was meticulously put together. Flavours were sophisticated but approachable and the wine list was Swiss-forward and extensive. Ask about the history of the 3 friends that built this amazing restaurant together and we’ve been told that they have a new outpost down the street. We’ll definitely be back. Thank you for a wonderful evening.

Food is pretty good, creative and their bread is really delicious. However, there is no proper wine list, rather just "a wine of the day" and you will just get was is served today and it was not even matching the food. They serve only Swiss wine and quite mediocre ones, however they charge 16 CHF per glass BUT you will NOT even get a full glass, rather a few sips (you can see on the photo). Plus they charge a fix amount for water which is 12.5 CHF per person, even if you will have only 1 glass during an evening. Considering the total bill, I was pretty disappointed and I see no reason to come back or recommend it to anyone.

A big disappointment! We had such a wonderful dining experience just one year ago and were looking forward to reiterate it during our visit to Zurich with good friends. I’m afraid we were taken aback by the food that lacked quality, imagination and savoir-faire! The wines we were recommended turned out acid and expensive. Where was the chef we adored at our first visit? What to say about the prices that went sky high? Last year’s menu was around CHF 100.- and this time it was CHF 160.- (we are definitely not taking about a Michelin starred restaurant) I’m hoping this was just a bad evening for the staff which can happen or has there been a change in the kitchen ? Soooo sorry

Yelp
The Zurich, Switzerland establishment Rechberg 1837 is renowned for its sustainable and innovative cuisine. Since the restaurant was constructed in 1837, only locally sourced ingredients accessible in the area were utilized. Consequently, the menu undergoes seasonal variations yet consistently comprises dishes crafted from premium, fresh ingredients. Popular dishes served at Rechberg 1837 consist of the following: Jerusalem artichoke morsels accompanied by truffle vinaigrette Rack of lamb roasted alongside rosemary potatoes and roasted vegetables Grilled beef tenderloin accompanied by truffle sauce and chanterelle mushrooms Prepared pasta dishes incorporating seasonal ingredients Innovative vegan and vegetarian cuisines Additionally, Rechberg 1837 carries an extensive array of wines, all of which originate from Swiss wineries. Every knowledgeable and accommodating staff member is delighted to assist you in selecting the ideal wine to complement your dish. Rechberg 1837 exudes a pleasant and inviting ambiance. The restaurant is elegantly appointed with a warm and inviting staff. I would enthusiastically endorse Rechberg 1837 to any individual in Zurich seeking a delectable and environmentally conscious gastronomic experience.

Yelp
The Swiss modern cuisine finally has its debut in 2017! Run by a team of passionate professionals and chefs, this gem next to the Zurich central library is a must visit when you are in town! I would recommend to be prepared amazed for the full evening- from the self-made bread(and yeast), to the "eieiei", fish, goose, cheese board and chestnut desert, pair it with a bottle of Swiss wine, while practice your Swiss German- what else can you ask for? Such a relaxed and wonderful evening! Reservation is needed as the place is very popular.

Yelp
You can't help but appreciate what the owners are up to from the local sourcing of the ingredients and old world wine to the attentive tag team service with personality. It made for a fun, unconventional dining experience. Four stars only because the food was not at the level of a Mesa or Equitable.

Yelp
What a lovely find, just a few moments (and a million miles) away from the mainstream Zurich dining experience. You will not find a huge, overly noisy cafe experience here (yet it's also not coffee shop scale, either) or the cliched farm-to-table tableau that tries too hard (more like down-to-earth and authentic forest-, lake- and farm-to-table). Rechberg is quite original in both menu and backstory. With the quality of this dining experience, the personal touch from the staff, and overall vibe that floats so effortlessly through this place, I want to shout from the mountaintops about this place!

Yelp
Unique concept restaurant, worth the search. A quiet, unhurried dining experience. All items locally sourced and an outstanding selection of Swiss wines. The menu is seasonal and changes often. Great combination of ingredients, textures, tastes and presentation. Highly recommend!

Yelp
If you are visiting Zurich you must stop by and eat at this unique/inspired Swiss restaurant that brings all local/organic Swiss produce to your table! One word for the food "delicious"! Restaurant Rechberg 1837

Yelp
Loved everything about this place. Their focus on local quality ingredients put together in creative dishes was topped only by the quality of their service. Would definitely recommend. We had the 5-course tasting paired with lots of good Swiss wines as suggested by Raphael and Max.

Yelp
Lovely little restaurant in a historic building. Excellent food made out if local products combined in an original way! Young crew, highly qualified but with a pinch of humour!
