Wife and I hit this place after Open House at our kids school. Went in just before closing and surprisingly the person that took our order at the counter was very friendly and was more than happy to give us recommendations as it was our first time there.
Good:
- Chicken was cooked to order, appropriately crispy and very juicy.
- The sides were pretty solid, we got mashed potatoes and fried okra.
- The sweet tea was damn near syrup in viscosity, as it should be.
Not so good:
- Minor order mishaps, pieces of chicken did not match our order, incorrect dessert.
- The “spicy” chicken was neither spicy enough nor salted enough for us. It’s a completely different fry which was nice to experience, but proper heat and salt would have taken it to the next level.
Flat out bad:
- Was informed they had recently changed their fries to crinkle cut. Now, there’s a time and a place for crinkle cut fries. The time is never, and the place is in the garbage can, just like unsweet tea. Just because Cane’s does it doesn’t make it right.
I’m giving 3 stars instead of 2 because we walked in probably 10 minutes before the scheduled closing time. Frankly, I expected worse. Will probably give it another shot.
P.S. I noticed they had a few decks of playing cards, uno, phase 10 etc. on the counter for those that wanted to play a game while waiting for their food, I thought that was a nice touch.
