A Hidden Gem for Coffee & Scones Lovers – Red Dessert Dive I visited Red Dessert Dive today for the first time, and that’s all it took to place it firmly among my favorite spots for coffee and pastries. Nestled in the heart of the Heights on Studewood St., this cozy little café is a true gem. I ordered a stout Americano and a nitro cold brew with oat milk—both were outstanding! The Americano, made with beans from Little Dreamer Coffee Roasters, had a rich, full-bodied flavor that was perfect for slow sipping and good conversation. I also tried one of their Blondie Bars, which was wonderfully balanced—sweet but not overpowering. My companion instantly fell in love with the nitro cold brew; it was smooth, creamy, and deeply satisfying. The staff were kind and happy to answer all my questions about their coffee beans and house-made teas. Yes, they make their own tea blends under the name Camellia Tea, which I plan to explore on my next visit. Their tea selection sounds promising, with offerings like English Breakfast (Keemun), Coconut Dreams (black tea with coconut and lemongrass), Chai Latte, and Matcha. The space itself is small and inviting, with just enough parking for its size—a bonus in this area. While I hope I get the chance to return often, I know the place’s popularity might make that tricky! In short, Red Dessert Dive is an excellent spot for high-quality coffee, delightful treats, and a relaxed, welcoming vibe. Highly recommended for both coffee and tea lovers.

Google
It is a perfect place for chill! Especially you take a 10 mins walk at 15:00 in Aug. cheese cake is yummy, coffee is fabulous!

Google
This was my first time visiting this charming little place. Right from the outside you can tell you’re in for a treat. The mural, bright red door, it just all has such a beautiful, chic aesthetic that carries all the way through the inside, too. The employee who helped me was very nice and made a wonderful latte for me. I tried the butterscotch s’mores bar and it was so decadent. I could only have a few bites and took the rest home lol. I loved this place and can’t wait to go back, and take other people there, too!

Google
Red Dessert Dive offers guests freshly baked goods at a reasonable price. Most of the baked goods are sweet with the one savory item a kolache (could have been because of when we visited - mid-morning. The roasted pecan coffee was enjoyable as were the chocolate croissant and the vanilla bean scone. There is indoor seating. Go in and check out the cookies, cupcakes, croissants, cakes and other baked goods available at Red Dessert Dive. Highly recommend.

Google
Red Dessert Dive has been one of our go-to bakeries for a long time. We love getting coffee and pastries/cupcakes on the weekends. Red did our wedding cake this last week and they did an amazing job. From working with the order manager to their delivery we couldn’t have been more satisfied. Everyone keeps talking about how great the cake looked AND tasted!!

Google
Houston we have a problem. I decided to try this dessert shop while I was in the Heights area. It was so good I ended up going there four times in one week and I live an hour away from this place. Everytime I went I try a new dessert each time like the banana pudding, strawberry short cake, cookies and cupcakes. Victoria was the sweetest person and she explained about the history of this place plus offered great recommendations.

Google
If you want a grab and go dessert it’s a slightly above average. The service is rough. Staff hides out in the back. They won’t sell you what’s left of a cake. They won’t take cake orders even if it’s more than 72 hours (the allotted time that’s stipulated online). I was considering them for our wedding but wanted to trial it for my birthday. I thought about showing up at open but honestly, if it takes this much effort I am out. Thankfully, there are bakeries just as good and better that will take cake orders and have present and helpful staff.

Google
I stumbled across this place today as I was craving something sweet. I’m so happy that I did! Nothing excites me more than not only good dessert but great customer service. Both girls working today were so sweet, welcoming and kind as it was my first time visiting. Their customer service alone will bring me back! Thanks for a warm experience. Looking forward to trying even more desserts.

Yelp
This was my first time at this location on 34th street. I did not preorder but wanted to just see what they had for my husbands birthday. I wanted a simple, small cake, even a cupcake to celebrate the day. The place is so cute with lots of little seating areas and a nice area outside. The cakes available were cute , I decided on the lemon blueberry. The other choice was confetti. What a great choice, the cake was small but huge at the same time. It serves 8 but 8 TALL slices. It was cold and so delicious once heated for a few seconds. They had muffins, cupcakes and cookies. The ladies were nice and offered to write a message - 3 lines only so I went with the basic Happy birthday.

Yelp
I got mixed up with shop across the street and came in asking for loaves of bread... this is not the spot for that (unless it's the holidays -the staff said they sometimes offer loaves around then) I'm glad I got mixed up because it gave me an excuse for a sweet treat. Small coffee pastry stop vibe. I got a pan du chocolate and a banana pudding. Both worth getting again.

Yelp
One of our new favorite spots in Houston for coffee and pastries! Vibe: Cool cafe with a modern farmhouse vibe. Lots of natural wood throughout and some vintage cabinets give this place a warm and cozy charm. Outside wall has some cool art. Good amount of space and seating inside. Service: Baristas were very kind and helpful, gave us some great recommendations. They knew their coffee too. Food: We ordered a matcha latte, drip coffee, and red velvet oreo bar. The matcha latte was creamy and earthy, just the right amount of sweetness. Tasted like quality matcha powder as we could taste the extra depth and umami. Drip coffee was good, it was a dark roast Ethiopian coffee. Notes of plum, nuts, and dark chocolate. The red velvet oreo bar was outstanding and worth the visit alone. Moist, dense, and full of white chocolate chips and bits of oreo. There's also flecks of salt throughout which really gave the dessert some punches of flavor! Cannot recommend it enough. Red Dessert Dive is definitely Let's Eat Houston approved.

Yelp
I'm such a fan of Red! It was dangerously close to my daughter's previous daycare, and I frequently would stop in on my way to work for a coffee and pastry. I've also ordered cakes for a party, and they turned out so well! if you have the luxury of an afternoon off, think about going with some friends and treating yourself to their high tea.

Yelp
Eh. Nothing fantastic. Everything was pretty bland but the location was cute and the people were nice

Yelp
Cute little bakery in the heights. We came late...around 730 pm and they still had a decent selection. We got the last two banana puddings...the counter girl encouraged us to get the last one when we ordered one serving. Twist our arms. My husband ate the pudding and said it was excellent albeit a smaller portion size for the price. Lots of bananas and super creamy. I got the chocolate chip cookie with sea salt. The edges were crunchy and the center was soft with lots of chocolate chunks. The touch of salt on top brought it all together. I also got chocolate chip bread pudding to eat later at home. What an enjoyable bakery for a late night dessert.

Yelp
It's a really nice and quaint coffee shop, and the staff is really friendly! My friend and I ordered a few of their pastries and coffee. I highly recommend getting their banana pudding. It was really well balanced with a ton of bananas, cream, and wafers! I also love thumbprint cookies, and I thought that theirs were pretty good as well. I don't recommend getting their coffee with almond milk because mine tasted really watery, but my friend's vanilla bean latte with whole milk was okay. I don't think this is a great place for coffee, but their pastries are good and there's a ton of variety to choose from. The barista was really nice and made sure we got the correct drinks with the correct milk replacements.
google avatar

Jacquelyn C.

Yelp
The banana pudding here is so good! Not too sweet and the wafers are still crisp. The bread pudding was a little too sweet for my taste, but was still yummy. There's minimal parking, but you can always street park.
google avatar

Elizabeth S.

Yelp
We love this bakery. It has something for everyone. Their frosted brownie tastes like the real version of a cosmic brownie and never last long in our house. Every cake I've had before there is great as well. The cookies have been okay to great, but always solid. The inside is slightly small but I have never seen it super busy in there. The staff are always friendly as well! Highly recommend! It's also open slightly late so we love stopping by for dessert after a date night.

Yelp
Stopped by this cute lil bakery after bbq since we couldn't get banana pudding at pinkertons bc they sold out. So glad we got to visit, as I had never heard of this dessert shop before. They had a lot to offer from their cakes, cookies, banana pudding, brownies to their sandwiches, coffees, and teas. We got a banana pudding and a strawberry blondie for around $11 in total. The banana pudding was creamy, light, and had just the right amount of sweetness to it with the perfect blend of flavors between the banana and vanilla. I also saw vanilla beans throughout the scoops! The strawberry blondie was amazing!!! It was super moist, and not one bit of it was dry. They had white chocolate chips and dried strawberries dispersed in the blondie. The addition of the strawberries really enhanced it. The blondie itself was buttery, lightly salty & lightly sweet. The cream cheese frosting paired well as a whole with the blondie but can be a little overwhelming. The employee up front was super warm and welcoming! The vibes inside were chill and cozy- it'd be an ideal place to chat with friends. The parking lot is SMALL, but I'm sure there are other alternatives to parking in the area. Highly recommend this place!!

Yelp
The desserts here were so tasty, we will be back to try more. The bread pudding will probably now live rent free in my head. The place is not huge but its cute with a good amount of seating.

Amber L.

Yelp
We were craving a sweet treat, and saw this place on Tik Tok. It was a short drive from downtown Houston. It's super cute. Honey had the turtle cheesecake, and I had the chocolate bread pudding. I also had the iced coconut latte. It' was amazing!!! I have attached a video of all the amazing goodness they had the day we went.

Yelp
The display area was well-lit and extremely clean no smears on the glass, no flies around. I bought a mini cheesecake and it was creamy with a smooth base and slightly tangy finish. It tasted freshly made, not like something from a fridge for days. Staff wore full protective gear while handling the cakes. That's the kind of place I'd confidently recommend to friends.

Elizabeth M.

Yelp
This is the perfect place for special occasions, dessert, or just to satisfy your sweet tooth. I really like the mini cupcakes they offer during the holidays, as well as their birthday cakes and Gluten-Free Brownies. I love this location on Studewood and the new one on 34th Street! I visited recently for Mother's Day and it didn't disappoint! Looking forward to seeing their creations for the 4th of July
google avatar

Nikki W.

Yelp
It's average at best. Not bad but the pastries lean more sugary than balanced on buttery. Wouldn't go back again, but wasn't bad. Just okay
google avatar

Roma B.

Yelp
Quaint dessert shop! Got the chocolate cheesecake and chocolate croissant. The cheesecake was very dense and almost too cold. It tasted better after thawing outside for a while. We liked the chocolate croissant though. There's window seating and a parking lot next door. Great spot to study or grab a pastry.

Yelp
The pink champagne cake will live in my dreams for the rest of my life Also, had a last minute event and needed a whole cake and they were super accommodating.

Yelp
Me and wife were out on a Sunday in down town Houston when we decided to try a local dessert spot and that how we came across Red dessert dive! Upon entering the cafe had a very nice and cozy atmosphere staff was extremely kind and greeted us as we walked in. There we so many desserts to choose from. We decided on their banana pudding and a turtle cheesecake and staff was even kind enough to give us a free cookie. The turtle cheesecake was so sweet and creamy and the crusting at the bottom broke perfectly with each time my spoon collided with it the crust complemented the cheesecake extremely well. Now for the banana pudding which was my favorite it was so creamy and the sweetness was so good it wasn't overpowering and it was extremely rich and almost we tasted like ice cream. I was extremely satisfied with are choice and finally the chocolate chip cookie which has a touch of sea salt the cookie was so sweet and the chocolate and sea salt meshed together so well. The cookie was truly perfect and everything a cookie should be and more. We were extremely happy with our visit to Red dessert dive and we can't wait to dive back in :)

Yelp
Friendly staff, loved the cheesecake. Huge backyard for these chocolate croissant lovers.

Yelp
Bought a cake for my boyfriend's birthday, chose a cake I guess it was very old it tasted really bad and dry we couldn't even finish a bite.

Yelp
Found this place on yelp while looking for a place to order a gender reveal cake from. They have an online form you can fill so I was able to fill everything out and request what I wanted in about 2 minutes without even having to pick up the phone!! (MAJOR PLUS FOR ME). After they received my inquiry, Red Dessert Dive replied quickly, making sure I got what everything I wanted in the cake. I had never been there before but when I went to pick up the cake, the place was tiny and cute and smelled SOOOO GOOD! They had so many sweets it was hard to resist getting one of everything LOL. In addition, the staff here was super friendly and my cake was ready right when they said it would be ready. The cake was beautiful and most importantly it was DELICIOUS. My friend had requested a marble cake with cream cheese frosting and they delivered just that in the most delicious way. Thank you for helping me make this day so special for these newly weds and new parents to be!

Yelp
I visited this place a couple of years ago and thought that it was okay. I remember going for a turtle cheesecake, which is what I wanted today but the server explained that it's a seasonal item. Which, was no problem. So, I tried the toffee bread pudding and the butter pecan cake. AND let me just say, *chef's kiss* because I don't even like bread pudding but this toffee one was soooo delicious. I definitely would try it again. I'm a fan of butter pecan and cakes with nuts in them so I already knew just as long as icing was great and the cake moist that I would like it. They did not miss on these recipes. They do make custom cakes, fyi. The inside of the shop is so cute and quaint. They have it decorated for the season.

Yelp
This was the second time I've been here. I wasn't impressed the first time, but I've heard so many rave reviews that I thought I'd give them another try. There wasn't a huge selection to choose from. The staff seemed to be bothered to help us even though we were the only people waiting to be helped. We ended up choosing the sea salt chocolate chip cookie and the debusker. Both were okay, but neither were exceptional. For the service, terrible parking, and price, there are so many other amazing places in Houston that I will support instead.
google avatar

Akeila B.

Yelp
I always stop by after work for a cupcake. They rotate the flavors and all that I've tried have been moist and not too sweet. Very tight space inside and parking is even tighter.

Kelly T.

Yelp
Ordered a 10 inch fruit white almond cake for a function and it was a complete hit - so much so, I've been asked to bring it again to our next get together. I am VERY picky about my cakes, and Red Dessert Dive always exceeds my expectations. Their cake is simply the best in Houston, in my opinion. You will come to the same conclusion if you try it - they have a single cake for slices every day so they make it easy to fall in love with their cakes. Their staff is friendly and helpful and they have a wide assortment of baked good to choose from. I have yet to find anything that wasn't absolutely delicious.
google avatar

Tori Marcavage ..

Yelp
Cute little bakery with the best ambience! Treated myself to an energy ball and chai tea latte. Both were fabulous! Highly recommend popping in if you are in the heights! Service was quick and easy - everyone one so nice!
google avatar

Maria Aimen J.

Yelp
I went in there to get a 1/2 a dozen cupcakes and ended up getting a few treats for myself which included the banana pudding and the salted chocolate chunk cookie. Thankfully I stopped in even with the bad reviews about customer service. Gratefully I had great customer service and the person behind the counter recommended me a few of the treats that I ended up really enjoying. They are a cashless establishment and they won't let you buy more than 6 of 1 item even though I was planning on giving the half dozen as a gift for somebody else, they would not let me get a cupcake for me to enjoy but I still give them 5 stars because I really did enjoy both of the things that I got.
google avatar

Alexis T.

Yelp
Cakes: 10/10. The lemon blueberry is a dream come true. The confetti cake is delicious as well. My boyfriend bought both out of the case for my birthday and they even decorated it to say "Happy Birthday!" Other treats: I've gotten a couple different treats from the display case and they are tasty as well but I'd almost always opt for a slice of their cake first. Lattes: Good, but not divine. The flavors look cute and fun so I was excited but they weren't the best. I haven't had just coffee from them yet so there is still hope! Parking: There's usually room around on the street. Service: Quick, normal coffee shop service. It's a super cute place! I don't know that I'd sit there with a friend and catch up as it is very quiet but good for popping in and out!
google avatar

Jason Z.

Yelp
Lovely little dessert spot on Studewood/11th. There's a very small parking lot that's adjacent; it's terribly designed so it's a pain to get in or out. Another option is street parking near a ditch near you. Interior has ample seating and their menu composed of coffee options, bakery/dessert options, and I think some food options as well. Got an iced latte with oat milk and a berry bar; both are pretty decent!
google avatar

Reagan N.

Yelp
We DoorDashed and received 3 chocolate chip cookies that were completely raw in the middle and a dry, chalky slice of cake.
google avatar

Candice N.

Yelp
Super happy with baby shower cake!! Came out beautiful and heard rave reviews on the taste! Thanks Red Dessert Dive!
google avatar

Natasha L.

Yelp
Cute little bakery/coffee shop. Plenty of space to sit and catch up on work. Went with their chocolate cakes with peanut butter. The cake slice was huge! If you like peanut butter, definitely give them a try. I did find the cake to be a little dry but I'll definitely be going back to them to try other items.
google avatar

Richard R.

Yelp
Desserts are excellent l, service is terrible. Closed an hour before there closing time. Wouldn't let me preorder for Valentines even though the email said today was the last day. Went in to order and they said no and we're closed (at 5pm when they close at 6pm). Please get staff that reflect the quality of your desserts.

Lauren F.

Yelp
This is a cute little shop, and the treats I ordered were tasty, but nothing blew me away. I found it odd that almost nothing was labeled, so I had to awkwardly ask what everything was, and I had no clue how much anything cost until they rang up my order.
google avatar

renee s.

Yelp
Ordered banana pudding, peach cobbler and cheesecake. 8.5/10 Banana pudding was very, very good. A bit sweeter that I like but lots of flavor and the texture is amazing. Ate it all in one sitting! 7.5/10 Peach cobbler was tasty. The peaches tasted like it was infused with bourbon or some type of liquor. Very decadent but enjoy in smaller quantities. 5.5/10 Cheesecake was bland. Compared to the delicious flavors of the pudding and the cobbler, this was disappointing. I would definitely return for the bread pudding. Absolutely delightful! Would love to try the next seasonal cobbler such as the peach cobbler.
google avatar

Kim A.

Yelp
Stopped in this past weekend to pick up a few treats, as I was in the area. The service was great and I was greeted by the friendly staff. There wasn't a big selection of goods, but this may be due to stopping in at 11am on a Saturday--not sure. Anyhow, I ordered two strawberry cupcakes, a chocolate chunk cookie with sea salt and one banana pudding. Once I arrived home, I noticed I had received a bread pudding instead, but I will eat any baked good placed in front of me, so no worries. Ok, now for the judgement: Chocolate Chunk Cookie with Sea Salt: 6/10. The sea salt adds a great contrast to the cookie & I wish there was more salt in the cookie dough rather than just sprinkled on top. Strawberry Cupcake: 4/10. Not very moist and a slight strawberry taste within the cake. The icing was stellar, however. Bread Pudding: 8/10. Pretty darn good! Great texture and moist in the middle. The caramel syrup that accompanies this treat is a perfect pairing. I may have not intentionally ordered this, but this was a great mistake. I do love supporting local businesses, but sadly I don't think I'll be returning anytime soon.
google avatar

Shelby C.

Yelp
Highly recommend this place for party cakes! We got our daughter's baptism cake from here and it was a hit. So pretty and super tasty. I was also able to order just a few days before the event (72 hour notice required by the bakery), which was great for my last minute planning. I will absolutely order again from here for future parties!
google avatar

Yelp
I recently tried the banana nut bread with icing slice and it was heavenly!! The place was very quaint and inviting and I am looking forward to going back. I want to try several other items. Please keep making the banana nut bread.
google avatar

Morgan B.

Yelp
Their desserts were super yummy!! Only complaint was they are honestly a BIT pricy but worth a splurge every once in a while. We got the cookies and cream cheesecake square and a slice of the chocolate cake with chocolate buttercream and both were delicious (if I had to pick one though - the cheesecake was a winner!!). Super cute and in a fun area. Will definitely be back.

Kris K.

Yelp
I'm dating someone that loves German chocolate cake. I researched alot of the bakeries in and around the Heights. I ordered the cake from Red's. He loved it. I don't even like chocolate but I tried a bite. It was wonderful! I will definitely order cakes from here in the future. I need to stop in sometime and just grab a dessert and a glass of wine.
google avatar

David G.

Yelp
Deep in the hearts of the heights, you'll find Red Dessert Dive off of Studewood and 11th. A hidden gem with a full coffee bar to meet your caffeine needs. Tried a slice of lemon cake which was to die for and extremely scrumptious! Def recommend trying the sweets as you'll be back for more! Overall rating: 9.5/10
google avatar

Gina R.

Yelp
Went in on Sunday about 15 mins before closing, there were people still seated and having treats and while holding the door open for my elderly mother I got shouted at to close the door by an employee. No thanks, I turned around and walked out.
google avatar

Rubeneisha C.

Yelp
Was on this side of town and wanted some dessert before heading home. I love the decor of this place and friendly staff. I tried the tres leche cake, it was okay. I have had better. My son and husband both had cupcakes, strawberry and funfetti and truly enjoyed them. Though my dessert was fulfilling I would stop by again and try something different since there's such a wide variety. Hopefully then I could change my star rating to 4 stars. Follow my food journey on social media @MugsyEats #whereeveryoneeats

Yelp
Tried 2 things, maple oatmeal cookie. Very good would come back just for this. Service was nice and place was clean. All the cookies looks good will be back for some others. But I did get a cup cake. Nothing to write home about
google avatar

Beverly U.

Yelp
I went there around 12p during the weekday in search for a slice of cheesecake for my boyfriend's bday. I thought since I read through the reviews about turtle cheesecake and other flavors, they would have an assortment. Got there and they only had a peach cheesecake. The cashier explained they have cheesecake but the flavors are seasonal. A little disappointed that there weren't more flavors or options here.
google avatar

Ruth V.

Yelp
The sizes were perfect for me. There was a nice variety of things to choose from. My kolache was ok. Good ratio of filling to bread. The sticky croissant was the thing to get. Sooo delish. Bought one to go. It is pricey but I assume the rent there is what is causing that. The staff was friendly, the place was quaint, and my latte was creamy and hit the spot. This is definitely a must try.

Alyssa G.

Yelp
it's so good here but the service is by FAR the worst I've ever experienced. every barista is soooo rude and treat their customers coldly. I have spent so much money there on cakes and EVERY time they are just rude. they treat you like you're bothering them by simply ordering LOL ridiculous. but man the cakes are delicious

Mariela G.

Yelp
Went on Sunday afternoon, and let me tell you it was so disappointing. I was really excited to try so many different desserts I saw online but the variety was extremely limited. I truly just wanted to leave without getting anything. Aside from that the cashier seemed to be rushing us to order and leave even though it was empty. I ordered the only cake they had which I think was a chocolate cake with strawberry frosting which was too sweet.
google avatar

Yelp
Ordered 6" vegan chocolate cake with vegan vanilla frosting. Delicious! The chocolate cake was a little denser than a usual sponge, and the frosting had a little nuttiness to it, but was overall delicious. Presentation, design was top notch. Too easy to go back for a second piece! The 6" cake was the smallest size they sell but plenty given the cake's height. Ordered via telephone three days in advance and had no issues. Props for great service and a well done birthday cake!
