Grilling it: 8 of the best barbecue restaurants in Singapore - SilverKris

"A Jalan Besar smokehouse specialising in American “low and slow” barbecue, best sampled via Meat Sampler platters that let diners choose multiple daily-smoked meats—favorites include Iberico pork belly, smoked chicken and pulled pork—with premium add-ons like USDA beef brisket and St. Louis pork ribs. Portions are smoked in small batches (so items can sell out), and there is a single-serving lunch platter option for solo diners." - Rachel Eva Lim

personally, i loved the pulled pork lunch bowl! 🥗 the pork was tender, well-flavoured with bbq sauce, and the portion was quite generous 🐖🥓 the sides were solid too! the romaine lettuce was lightly tossed in ranch, so it didn’t taste too raw, which i appreciated. the buttered corn was sweet with a slight saltiness from the 🧈 and not oily at all 👍 best part: their playlist 🎵 they were blasting shawn mendes & justin bieber’s old hits, which were super vibey haha

We had an amazing feast at Red Eye Smokehouse. Our table of four ordered a spread of beef, pork, sausages, and sides — everything was incredibly tender, smoky, and full of flavour. The brisket and ribs were standouts, but honestly every item on the platter was excellent. The sides like mac & cheese, roasted vegetables, and coleslaw paired perfectly with the meats Service was fantastic throughout our meal. The staff checked in on us regularly, making sure we had everything we needed without ever being intrusive. It really added to the warm, welcoming atmosphere

My wife and I tried Red Eye Smokehouse for Friday date night after some friends’ recommendations. Parking in the area is tough on a Friday evening, so plan ahead. The place was fairly empty when we arrived but filled up gradually. Service was great!Prompt, friendly, and attentive. We ordered their brisket, pork belly, and three sides. Everything (except the cornbread) came on one tray, and to our surprise, it looked a lot less than expected. The brisket and pork belly were just average (pretty dry), and the sides were pretty underwhelming. Drinks-wise, I wouldn’t recommend the happy hour house wines (quite bad tbh), but the green lager was good. Overall, great service, mediocre food, expensive for the quality and portion size. Not quite filling (we went for Korean food after), or memorable enough to make me go back.

Google
Staff were amazing with their service. Food on the other hand was just acceptable. Don't think it's worth the price as the brisket I got were more tough than I expected and pork belly was... Pork belly I guess. The sides of the dirty rice and vegetables tasted better than the mains to me. Their sauces were okay as well.

Wow, what a gem! Absolutely loved this place. The brisket was amazing and the service impeccable. I had lunch here today, I'm ready to come back for dinner. It's really that good! Big portions, so order carefully. Ha.

Had a great time at this smokehouse. Poutine was awesome, and the smoked beef was intensely flavorful. Would not recommend using their BBQ sauce, which seemed fairly standard issue, but detracted from the exceptional smoky flavor ingrained in the meat. Their roasted greens was also good. Drinks were great, would love to try their sangria and cider next time.

Google
My go-to spot for brisket cravings. It's consistently juicy, tender, and full of flavor. I love every single component on the meat board; just thinking about it makes me want to go back. If they offered a better selection of sides, it would be absolutely perfect.

We ordered a lot more food but were too eager to start eating that there aren’t more pictures 🤩 All the items exceeded expectation and made for a hearty meal. Specially recommend the pork ribs, buffalo wings, beef brisket and pork belly! Ambience is nice and staff were very attentive. We were privileged to meet the lady boss, who was very friendly.

Yelp
Just okay. If you are a Sing expat missing bbq, it's probably a decent substitute. Meat was dry, & mashed potatoes just "okay." Friendly service, but ordering from a QR code with no menu when the staff is 2 m just seems like a weird anti-social vibe for bbq. Nothing special.

Yelp
I love good bbq and this place has it. The pulled pork was super soft and yummy. The beans were really good and have so much flavor. Mashed potatoes w gravy were ok but I should have had the coleslaw. You have to make a reservation and it's totally worth it. Only knock I have it they put hot sauce on the pork before you get it so ask for none unless you like. Oh and bbq sauce was good but ask for more

Yelp
The BBQ is not as juicy as in TX, or even at the best BBQ joints anywhere in the US, but satisfying enough. Hard to believe, but it is actually better than at the Grillhouse at the American Club! Interesting beers, including a very fresh lager called Fucking Hell. Service is friendly but a bit slow.

Yelp
I Like it! Tender juicy brisket, sausage is also Good The complimentary bread is best! (Because l Like bread any bread:) best because its free. Now The minus one star is because in few visits I was served with Just warm meat, I hope ON My next visit I will get the smoking version fresh from the grill, I really want to try it when it's really smoking hot. Will be back there soon. Please give the fresh from oven cut.

Yelp
I arrived at Red Eye Smokehouse, only a few days removed from visiting Houston, Texas. So let's just say my senses in assessing good barbecue was on overdrive (note: I visited Killen's Barbecue in Pearland, TX - J.J. Watt's favorite BBQ restaurant) -- If you have no idea what or who I'm talking about just skip to my review below. :D Red Eye Smokehouse offers everything that you would expect from a truly Texan style Barbecue establishment. They serve various meats, including the age-old classics: Beef Brisket, Sausage links, Smoked Chicken Thigh, BBQ Pork Ribs, etc. Sides include mashed potatoes, fries, smoked mac & cheese (my fav). Just choose what meats you want to order, which are nicely presented at the glass counter, decide on how many grams of each meat you want to eat and pay at the counter. The sauces, should you needed it, are located at the dining table. The ambience of the place is simple, trendy and clean. A great place to enjoy your food and be loud and chat amongst friends! What I can honestly say about this place is that the barbecue is really AUTHENTIC! The taste is absolutely there with my favourite being the Beef Brisket and a close second being the St. Louis Pork Ribs. I'm being a little picky here, given my visit recent visit to Houston and Killens, but the brisket was ever so slightly dry (still overly moist) and the pork ribs, not as tender I as I would have liked it. I caution that my words are relative to baddest Texan bbq in the world. Overall, if you have a craving for truly authentic american barbecue and experience. There is no better place in Singapore than Red Eye Smokehouse. I don't consider Tony Romas authentic or Smokey's BBQ even as close to as good as Red Eye. For one, Tony Romas is serves Ribs from Florida !?!?!? and two Smokey's BBQ just uses way too much sauce. Naughty Pigs - in Tanjong Katong, well that's not authentic, sorry. Red Eye Smokehouse is as authentic as they come. I'm surprised that an establishment like this can even exist in Singapore! Kudos to Red Eye for bringing Texas home! These guys must be the only ones in Singapore with a Smoker.

Yelp
I recommend the fully loaded nachos to start - beef and pork both yummy. The brisket $15 per 100g, chuck eye about $9 (or whatever they have that is similar for the day) are great, corn bread is a hit with my friends and family. The brisket is expensive and be careful not to over-order, remember you can always add more as you go! The staff also let me try the hot smoked salmon, it was good but I wasn't looking for fish that night. I really like the short rib as well, it's tender. I advise to take smaller portions of each than you think you need because it does add up. The beans are tasty but too much in a big cup, it's just too heavy. Especially if you already had them on the nachos! Once was enough. The vegetable choices are really limited, I just get a cup of the broccoli mix. They serve some nice beers but even though the cocktails take a while to rustle up, I've tried 2 and both were yum. I like the whiskey tamarind sour. The vibe here is very casual, very easy. You walk up to the display and point at your protein and they slice it up. You can say "thinner" "fatter" before they do the cut.

Yelp
My Texas BBQ restaurant of choice in SG. They make some killer brisket in an electric smoker -- but I don't know how they do it so well when not using wood. What sets them apart if beer on draft selection, sweet potato fries, BBQ sauce variety, beef ribs and some dynamite chicken. They got nice potato salad too.

Yelp
My husband was craving some brisket... this was everything he craves! Had rye For One platter with baked beans and bone marrow mashed potato! Being from the US we were very happy with the food! Next time we'll stick w the brisket as it was our favorite meat!!!

Yelp
After hearing a lot about Red Eye, I finally ventured over to see what the hype was about. Perhaps my expectations were set too high, but I walked (crawled) away less than impressed. We started off with the nachos which was one of the better dishes - with lots of things going on here - pulled pork, guac, cheese, beans, and more! The brisket however was disappointing, as I found it to be a bit dry and ironically lacking in flavor. The St Louis pork ribs were better, but definitely not fall off the bone tender. The damage for 1 app, 2 meats, 2 half sides and 2 beers was over $120, so it adds up quickly. There was one X-factor here with the pickles, which were fantastic and the closest thing to an American style dill pickle I have found in Singapore. Overall, Red Eye does ok as a BBQ joint, but it also doesn't seem to live up to expectations.

Yelp
Why this place hasn't been on the radar is news to me but I don't mind keeping it that way. So I don't have to queue or make a reservation on a Saturday night. This establishment has meat by weight, sides, beers, and the hard stuff. And that's it. No lattes, no pancakes, nothing complicated. Just a guy in the back with a huge grill and smoker, turning out wonderfully smoked and BBQ'd cuts of meat. Ok, there's a whole crew of people running the establishment.  Located in the Jalan Besar area where a new cafe seems to be popping up every few weeks in between the industrial buildings and warehouses. Open seating, then you go to the counter and pick the meats you want and they recommend a portion by weight. We were a party of three so we sampled 200 to 400 grams of the beef short rib, the brisket, and the pork ribs. Coupled with a portion of mac & cheese, a watermelon salad and finished with ice cream and apple pie, and you have a well contented and full table. I enjoyed ordering by weight and being able to taste a sample of many of the different meats they had prepared for the evening. Careful as this can get pricey if u go overboard. We ended up $35/pax before service and drinks. They make their own BBQ sauces and both the 'sweet and tangy' and 'smoked chipotle' are outstanding. It's a great place to gather with friends, have a beer and enjoy great food. Highly recommended.

Yelp
Our favourite smokehouse in Singapore. Excellent food and the Chef and staff are very friendly. The meats are tender and succulent but apart from the sweet potato fries and coleslaw, the other sides were average. But that didn't deter us from returning for more!

Yelp
Very good smoked meat, generous portions of great nachos and the tacos are to die for. Only tried the pulled beef, not the pulled pork due to the company i was with but I can only imagine it's just as good. Only advice I can give to improve is better ice tea than the one on the menu now.

Yelp
This place is an amazing BBQ place that can rival anywhere in the United States, although the restaurant is on the pricey end of things the food is well worth the money the chef and owner clearly care about the product they are giving their customers if you are in Singapore and are craving some good ole American BBQ you should stop by red eye smokehouse
