"Red Herring is another just-OK restaurant in the sea of just-OK restaurants that occupy the busy Historic Core of DTLA. This place moved from Eagle Rock to Downtown at the end of 2018, and this new version does have some things going for it: The cocktails are killer, the space is beautiful, and even your pickiest friend will be able to find something they want from the menu. The problem is the food, which isn’t bad, just mostly forgettable. Everything from the pork belly with grits to the ricotta toast to the duck confit on a scallion pancake is just… fine. They do have one fantastic dessert, though: A chocolate torte with cocoa nib salsa, which is worth the visit alone. So come here for a low-key date to sit at the bar, eat chocolate torte, and drink cocktails - just make full dinner plans someplace else." - Brett Keating

Hands down one of my favorite bars to go to in Louisville. The environment is chill, the hospitality is great, and the drinks are unique amazing. One thing I recommend is try one of their Adult Capri Suns.

Very personable staff, great food....very unique list of 100 cocktails....live entertainment on various nights...and the building/establishment itself is beautiful.

They have 100 specialty cocktails on the menu! Last time I was there I had 3 different ones and they were all good. The bar tenders are legit, lighting things on fire, getting tools out of the fridge, remembering like 10 things at once plus they take your food order. The menu is kind of small but the burger I had was insane. $6 good cocktails is hard to find so we will be back a lot this summer to sit outside.

Passing through town over a holiday weekend and found they were open on thanksgiving day. What a pleasure! The cocktail menu is insane, you’d expect a much more pretentious vibe from people who know so much about cocktails. But the bar staff was friendly, knowledgeable and professional. It was a great way to spend thanksgiving night and we hope to be back to Louisville soon to visit again. A neighborhood gem! Thanks y’all!

Great atmosphere, strong menu of classic and house cocktails, and amazing service! Red herring has a cozy interior where you can order at the bar or be serviced by one of the roaming waiter/waitresses. Someone was attending to our needs at regular - but not too frequent - intervals. At one point, a waitress came by with a stack of games just to see if we wanted to play something! 10/10 would recommend.

Cocktails were great, quite an extensive cocktail menu. Food is unique and flavorful. Service was fantastic, we talked to the chef. They use the model of each table having a tab which is a great approach.

The extra star is for the awesome dining area, specifically upstairs and outside! Was really excited to try the food (which I've yet to do). Only visit: we found a great spot upstairs, then walked back down to order at the bar -- they don't offer table service but add 20% gratuity automatically. Busy with what looked like a single drink order, the bartender ignored our party of two. As the minutes ticked by we shared an awkward moment with the one person sitting nearby on a slow day. When we realized we were paying extra to serve ourselves at the leisure of the staff, we left without ordering and haven't been back.

This is a fun place for a drink or two, mabe an appetizer. The drinks are definitely worth --They aren't stingy! It's a tad pricey, but not particularly more than a typical restaurant. They also add the gratuity which is probably/con really depending on service. Ours has always been great. I wouldn't go here for my entire night, just a little pregame.
