The Best Restaurants & Bars In Rockaway Beach and Jacob Riis Beach - New York - The Infatuation

"The 97th Street beach bazaar has the widest variety of concessions on the boardwalk, including a location of this Red Hook-based lobster spot. They sell both cold, mayo-swiped Maine lobsters rolls as well as Connecticut-style versions with warm butter, plus some hot crispy fries that some nearby seagulls will rightfully be interested in stealing." - Team Infatuation

Lobster Joint - Review - Rockaway Beach - New York - The Infatuation

"97th Street has the biggest variety of concessions on the boardwalk, including a barbecue place (Breezy’s), a ceviche stand (La Cevicheria), a full service bar (Low Tide Bar), and our top pick, Lobster Joint. Get a lobster roll, and eat it at one of the picnic tables. photo credit: Lobster Joint" - Andrew Steinthal

The setting? Sublime. Sand between your toes, sun kissing your forehead, surf whispering sweet nothings. It’s the kind of place where you expect your lobster roll to arrive like Poseidon’s gift, divine, decadent, and worth every dollar. Instead, I got a $31 BLT that felt more like a prank pulled by Neptune’s intern. Let’s talk standards. A proper lobster BLT should be a symphony, sweet, briny lobster, crisp bacon, fresh lettuce, juicy tomato, all nestled in a toasted, buttery roll with a hint of seasoning that says, “I care.” Bonus points for aioli, a touch of citrus, or even a pickle sidekick. What I got was a sad solo act: stale hotdog bun, wilted tomato slices, no lettuce, no seasoning, and a lobster portion that looked like it had second thoughts about showing up. Service was adequate, like someone reading off a script titled “Minimum Viable Hospitality.” Not rude, not warm, just present. Like the lettuce should’ve been. If you’re going to charge $31, at least flirt with the idea of quality bread. Brioche, potato roll, even a toasted pretzel bun, anything but this limp, flavorless sponge impersonating a vessel. Final thoughts: come for the beach, stay for the existential crisis about what qualifies as a sandwich. Red Hook, I wanted to love you. But next time, I’ll pack my own roll and call it a picnic.

No idea what all the bad reviews are about. Just had a lobster roll here and it was awesome! A little expensive, sure. But damn good. And served at the right temp. Super cold lobster on a nice toasted bun. Nothing to not love Highly recommend

Google
Spend 48 $ on lobster BLT and side of questionable fries .. lobster pieces came out half defrost , very cold sitting on very cold sandwich .. I guess I should be glad they did not poison me with their ‘fresh stuff’ .. but please escape this place .. it’s really bad.

Google
@redhooklobster has the best lobster roll in NYC and I recommend it with no hesitation as well as their delicious, marvelous, real, OG Lobster Boil they serve in Rockaway every Thursday Night. I can’t remember when was the last time I had seafood THIS fresh in NYC and by fresh I mean FRESH-FRESH. Muchas gracias Susan and team for the hospitality. As long as the sun shines, I’ll keep coming back! 10/10

Google
The food took really long to get ready, it was hard to tell whether they were open initially because the board that said they were closed was still out. The food is overpriced for what they were offering

I took my Godmother to dinner here. We had a nice waitress however the offerings on the menu were pretty limited for the hefty bill I received. 2 Lobster Rolls, Calamari, Shrimp and 1 drink---$185.

Yelp
I really enjoyed my time with my family at the beach with my parents and my dog and wanted to order some delicious food. We came by the Red Hook Lobster Pound in hopes of finding something good for lunch. However, they ran out of almost everything and didn't seem to bother stocking up on things for the weekend, which is weird because it was the summer on the beach. We ordered avocado fries, which turned out to be guacamole on french fries. It was interesting and tasted good, but overall confusing and disappointing.

Yelp
Red Hook was fantastic. I ended up here randomly while on the board walk and I'm so glad that I stopped in. Before diving into my review, I will let you know this straight up: this is a pricey meal. Lobster rolls were roughly $30. To that point, it was a truly delicious meal. The Connecticut style lobster roll pictured on this review was fantastic. Like any lobster roll, it's done in about 3 bites but it truly was delicious. There was a new girl working the counter who was super sweet while trying to figure out her new role. We shared a good laugh as I have never had a Liquid Death water before. Once my food was ready I sat right outside with my meal and enjoyed the ocean breeze. How do you beat that ambiance?

Yelp
I love going to the Red Hook location and I was so thrilled to stumble upon the Rockaway Beach 97 location within the Rockaway Bazaar. Their lobster is always fresh, with huge pieces. They offer 2 styles Maine and Connecticut. Maine has lemon mayo and Connecticut is with warm butter. I went Connecticut style savored every single bite. Fries were tasty and portion enough to share. Service was friendly, and the location can't be beat. Already looking forward to my next visit!

Yelp
Cute spot on the boardwalk but me and my mans both got violent food poisoning. We ate there yesterday in the afternoon as an early dinner and this morning we both woke up super nauseous, throwing up. (We only ate a bagel for late breakfast yesterday so it had to be the seafood). We had a lobster roll, popcorn shrimp and oysters. Nothing seemed off when we were eating, but oysters can be vicious if not stored properly. Also, none of the cooks were washing their hands between handling the various food items so it could have been cross contamination. Just be cautious and maybe only eat the cooked items.
