First off the food is amazing, very tasty ribs and beef brisket as well as amazing cornbread. Next off the service is fast and friendly and the atmosphere and interior is warm and inviting. Awesome decorations and flags and memorials for the united states military and all its servicemembers. A great bbq spot that honors all those who gave the ultimate sacrifice.

This small BBQ restaurant has some of the best BBQ I've had! The brisket was so tender it melted in my mouth. Even the tri-tip was super tender. If you're laying through and need a place to eat, you should definitely stop in!

Great and simple atmosphere. The staff were extremely friendly and the dining area was very clean. Service was super fast, almost too fast. The food was prepared very well. I ordered a combo dinner plate with brisket, ribs, mac & cheese and cornbread, plus a side salad. The brisket was perfect. The ribs were cooked very well with a little char, I would have preferred a little less smoke flavor with the ribs. The Mmac & cheese was prepared excellently. The cornbread was moist with just a little bit of sweetness. The side salad was simple and very fresh. My dining experience was almost perfect. I will definitely come back again, if I am in the area. Almost forgot, the spicy BBQ sauce was great. Just the right amount of peppery heat. Thank you for providing me with a amazing dining experience.

This little hidden spot is worth the drive. I happend to smell the smoked meat in the air and drew me in. It's not very big, but very hospitable, and outdoorsy decor. I orded the the fried mozzarella stick to start and the two meat combo. They got me at first bite. You can tell a lot of love went into making their food. The cheese from the mozzarella sticks, stretched out for days. And addition to dipping it in ranch gave it a very nice compliment the ranch was buttermilk Style. I ordered the pulled pork and brisket the side of their breaded crumbled deep fried mac and cheese. Paired with their red Irish beer. The mac and cheese was love at first bite right amount of cheese the noodles were cooked to Perfection not too soft not too hard very creamy and it gets better with every bite. I can't explain all the flavors that are in it it just hits you all at once. The pulled pork you can taste Oak wood all natural along with a little bit of crispy burnt heads very juicy. Brisket can be pulled no cutting needed. Has a combination of oak wood, cracked pepper sweet bbq flavor. Melts in your mouth goodness. The corn bread omg, was soft with butter and hint of honey. No need to add butter. It was warm and easy to eat. I will be coming here again and trying new foods.

Been here a few times, but first review. I usually get the brisket plate because I love me some brisket and they smoke some bomb brisket. First time getting it in a sandwich, which comes with a bag of chips. Also got a single beef rib. The fat in the brisket is what keeps me coming back. I will definitely be back when I'm in Tehachapi. Love it 😀

Awesome experience on our way to Joshua tree. Meat was so tasty and well prepared. Smoking was done well. We got the wet ribs and pulled pork, just perfect. Side of cabbage well prepared too. Prices are correct. Service is sweet. I highly recommend

Stopped for a quick dinner and had an amazing meal. Brisket was a highlight, and the ribs were also great. Nice selection of sauces at the table and great sides as well. Portion very good.

We were looking at homes in the area and a friend had told us about the place, so glad he did. Good food for a fair price and nice atmosphere with good service. If we buy a place in the area, we will certainly be coming here regularly.

The ambience in this restaurant is quite intriguing. It's not your basic barbecue and grill. The walls are filled with history and reputable honor to those in the pictures that cover the walls. Every flag of the United States of America military are hanging from the ceiling rafters with pride. Artifacts from this country's history displayed on the walls, give a depth to the honor they bestow to the people of this nation long ago. The service was far better than many of the fine restaurants I've been in, and I've been in a lot. They frequently checked on us even when we were sitting out in the back patio. Not just one waitress, but all of them. The food was definitely plenty full and very tasty. The fried okra was excellent as the pulled pork was as well. The different meats and dishes that the four of us eat had a fine presentation and well prepared. I look forward to a follow up visit to this restaurant someday soon. Best BBQ my Husband and I have ever had... and we have eaten it all over Texas!!! Among other States! We are residing here only for three months, but we have been getting food to go from here once a week. We are going to hella miss this place! The decor is neat, and staff really nice. It's such an amazing spot... Hubby loves the brisket, and I the ribs. We both cannot get enough of their potato salad and beans!!! The corn bread is so moist - outstanding! We don't even like mac and cheese, yet the one they make here is unbelievably good!!! We wish the owners continued success for many years to come... Ánágodziih doleel

Hadn't t been here in years but when I was in the area, I remember having had a great experience so I decided to check it out again. I was a bit confused when we arrived as I don't remember it being a sit-down place but I guess that is new. We were told to grab a seat and our server quickly came to take our order. Two drinks and two sandwiches- pulled pork and pastrami. The food came pretty quick for how busy it was but we had to remind the server that we still needed our drinks. Pulled pork sandwich had lots of burnt pieces and was very greasy. The coleslaw was almost non-existent so I can't judge on the flavor. The "spicy' sauce on the table was not spicy at all, and had more of a smokey flavor than anything. For my partner's pastrami, the menu said "choice of bread" yet we were not asked about the bread preference. The pastrami itself was nothing special and the tiny bread it came in was comical as it resembled a hot dog bun. I don't think the small bag of potato chips that came with each sandwich justified the price. We never got a drink refill and were quickly ushered out. They have a 3% fee for using card and 3% "discount" for using cash. I happened to have a $100 bill in my wallet so I used that to pay, yet when my change was returned, I was $28 short as the server returned the total amount of the meal as the change and not the change amount itself! The mistake was quickly fixed and they apologized. The restaurant itself is messy and cluttered but I guess that's the vibe they're going for. Restrooms were clean and maintained. I did see a "help wanted" sign in the front so maybe things will turn around when they get said help.

Still one of the best spots in the area for BBQ. This us my first visit since they switched to table service and it went very smoothly. There were plenty of open tables when we arrived at 5 but they were filling up quick by 6. Hubby loved his beef ribs and left quite the boneyar behind. MiL liked the catfish but wished it had a bit more seasoning though she usually likes things very salty, to be fair. I really liked the tender pork ribs and well seasoned fries. The shrimp actually had a bit too much salt for me, but they were nicely cooked. I definitely recommend a visit if you want something rustic and hearty. No plating with tweezers here!

Went to the Red House BBQ in tehachapi this place is pretty much on point Man the ribs are meaty the chicken is on point. The pulled pork is good and the french fries and the mac and cheese wow definitely will go back so if you want your bellies full and you want to go to sleep afterwards this is the place to go.

Best bbq in California. The meat is so tender, juicy, and fresh. The homemade bbq sauces are packed with so much flavor. The Mac & cheese was so creamy & so addicting. I wish the cornbread was a bit warmer but that's just a preference. It's perfect just how it's made. We ordered fried pickles to start and boy oh boy they were tasty. My family was beyond pleased with their dishes and combo meat plates. Everyone is so welcoming and accommodating. We were seated pretty fast and the food came at a reasonable time. Everything about Red House BBQ just felt comforting. Definitely will be back.

Extremely busy when we went tonight, not a seat unfilled we waited for about 20 minutes to be seated outside in the patio section as there's no standing room. The restaurant itself seemed to clean as well as the restroom. The staff was very friendly, welcoming, and made sure we were taken care of. The food was great wasn't our first choice, but it sounds like they ran out of a lot of stuff. We will definitely be back to try some more later more to come..

This is a small establishment, though they do have outdoor seating available, about 8 tables indoors. Very hunting lodge-esqe. Lots of mounted animals on the walls. We were say immediately and all of the staff were very friendly and accommodating. I ordered the pork belly sandwich and a side of red slaw. That pork belly is addictive. They "candy" it in a honey bourbon bbq sauce. The red slaw is vinegar based but not overly sour. Great counterpoint. My friends ordered the brisket, which was fork tender and huge beef ribs. They, also, got the green slaw and it was perfectly dressed, not overly mayonnaise-y. Definitely some of the best bbq I've ever had.

Whoa...Again and again I stop at this AMAZING restaurant and it NEVER disappoints...This one word **PASTRAMI** I've had pastrami all over the country and THIS is top tier, make a special trip kinda pastrami!! Absolutely AMAZING!!! Bought a couple pounds, brought it home, reheated as the owner advised and HOLY COW, besides Langer's in LA, maybe the BEST pastrami sandwich I've ever had!!! First off, if you're not eating at Red House BBQ in Tehachapi already, you're missing out!! Nothing I've ever eaten here was bad! It's ALL really good! EVERYTHING....DO NOT forget the Brisket and the Mac and Cheese!! Both are like no other in this area and others... Staff is ALWAYS amazing, food is made quickly, restaurant is clean and I don't know of any other place with this level of BBQ food! PLEASE eat here!!!

We finally made it to Red House BBQ after hearing rave reviews for a long time. It was a Wednesday at 5pm and it was already busy but not overly packed. It exceeded our expectations! The exterior is charming & the interior is so fun. Laid back, casual place with a bit of kitsch and lots to look at on every wall. Bring a marker to add your name to their autograph wall. We got a table right away and had a server take our drink order quickly. Kids had the tri-tip plates with fries from the kids' menu, my husband had the pulled pork sandwich and I had the pulled chicken plate with bourbon yams. Everything was absolutely delicious! The staff was kind, friendly, and attentive. The portions were generous and the prices were very reasonable. The value for the quality was unreal. We can't wait to return!

Great BBQ! Found this place while visiting Tehachapi and the food was excellent. The sliced brisket plate was delicious. The meat was so tender and juicy. We also ordered the beef ribs. They came with mashed bourbon yams and cornbread. The ribs were a bit on the dry side... so the consistency was more like beef jerky. Not enjoyable but tasty. I would have preferred the meat to be juicy and tender like the brisket. We also tasted the pulled pork sandwich. The pork was delicious and tender. You must try the mac-n-cheese. It was amazing and yummy. It was gooey and so tasty with a hint of smoke- we ordered a second side of it!! The service was good, friendly and quick. The place is cute and definitely has a country and outdoor set feel to it. The place is very rustic and charming. We did notice exposed insulation way up in the ceiling so they may want to take care of that. Just sayin'! The bathroom was the coolest place in the restaurant; the everywhere else it was not cool but bearable. The prices were good at this place for BBQ so looking forward to venturing over there again to try their pulled chicken and hot links. They also have a few Cajun dishes, featuring Cajun shrimp. We were enjoying our food so much, forgot to take pics. But got the menu. Enjoy!

Great spot in Tehachapi. The ribs were incredible!! It doesn't look like much from the outside (a dive as Guy Fieri might call it) but the people are friendly and the food is great. Order at the counter and sit down to enjoy your delicious meal. Grab an Indian Fry Bread for dessert!! The BBQ is great and the sandwiches are good too. Price is really reasonable for the quality and amount of food.

Red House is a cool local spot in Tehachapi. They're known for their bbq and didn't disappoint. Food was good. We tried the brisket, pulled pork, chili, and mac n cheese. Good all around. A few different bbq sauces to complement meats - spicy, sweet, and mild. I personally liked the sweet and mild. The serving was enough to take leftovers home. Staff was very friendly and helpful w/ suggestions. They do have their own parking lot. Memorabilia inside restaurant gives its personality.

Everytime I visit Tehachapi it includes a delicious meal at The Red House. Their BBQ is mouthwatering good. The Mac and cheese, the yams and the other sides are top shelf tasty. The staff is friendly and helpful. Come hungry.

My wife and I chowed in the Red House on our way to Vegas. As we walked in the place was fairly busy with customers enjoying their meals and others waiting for theirs. The smell of the smokers and smoked meats was fantastic! I ordered a brisket sandwich on brioche bun, it came with a piece of cornbread, and a small bag of chips. I also added a side of mac n cheese...because brisket with mac is a must. My food was awesomely deeelish! My wife ordered a smoked chicken cobb salad with cornbread on the side. She was also very impressed with her meal. Food was tasty and the staff were attentive and friendly. We definitely recommend this local chow spot.

Good food, good service. And they're children friendly! The bathroom even has a children's potty seat. Super appreciate that. The brisket, tri tip, ribs, Mac and cheese - all delicious.

There were 5 of us eating. I tried some of everyone's food. Every single thing was really good. All the staff was very friendly and service was fast.

Really good food and good service too, and reasonable prices. While not traditional at a BBQ joint, the fried pickle spears and fried avocado are nice appetizers to have while your BBQ meal is being prepared. There is inside and outside seating, with room for a crowd mainly outside.

First time there after a recommendation. Right when you walk in the smell is amazing! The staff are super nice, especially the sweetheart Asian lady that works up front. We ordered a few snacks and grabbed a quick beer. The fried pickle spears are amazing and the deep fried okra was just as good! You have to check this place out. Didn't get to try the bbq but all the plates I saw flying past me looked and smelled mouth watering

Staff was very friendly and the service was quick, but the food was even better. I got the brisket plate and the meat was perfectly cooked with a delicate flavor. For my sides, I got the cornbread and the red slaw. The cornbread was fluffy and flavorful and the slaw was crisp and tangy. No chance I was walking out of there with anything left on my plate

We tried the ribs and the brisket. They were melt in your mouth yumminess. The red slaw that comes with the dinner is a must try. owner and staff are super friendly. Refreshing Boysenberry lemonade was perfect. And to top it off....the Indian fry bread cannot be passed up. The owner talked with us and confirmed that 95% of the dishes are housemade. From her mother's recipes for the sides and sauces to her childhood fry bread. This will be a destination spot for my wife and me!!!!!!

This place is a tiny little hidden gem. Every time we're here the food has never disappointed. The catfish is Delicious, nice meaty pieces, and not to be missed if you are a catfish fan. So many tasty choices on the menu. BBQ is top notch. Check out their specials board for exciting limited items. Still need to try the Lobster Roll Friday special. Sides are tasty and just the right size. Staff has always been very nice and welcoming. Warm eclectic decor with a nod to the military branches. Worth the drive to Tehachapi to have a great meal.

Absolutely the best barbecue in Kern County. They have such a wide variety, including indigenous. Staff are all incredible and I love the ambience. Always end up walking my daughters around looking at the pictures. Mano and everybody there are just the best! Proud to have them in our community!

Such an easy drive from Bakersfield. You totally NEED to make a stop here. I got the two meat plate. It probably could feed two people but I would just take home the leftovers and finish it for yourself. I've had it twice already as leftovers and it still tastes just as good. I got the brisket and trip tip. The tri tip was good but my favorite was the brisket. I would get double brisket it was that good. I think it's called the bark, the seasoned outside of the bbq. The bark was so flavorful. I loved their sweet bbq. I wish they had this in Bakersfield, but I guess a nice drive to Tehachapi will do.

Yummy as ever. Catfish and Mac n cheese can't be beat. I prefer weekday nights. Sweet cornbread is a new, wonderful addition.

Service was excellent, staff was very attentive. The brisket was one of the best I've had, nice bark, smoke ring all the way around it was moist & tender with great flavor! St Louis ribs had good seasoning, but were a tad undercooked. Beef rib was over seasoned but perfectly cooked, chicken was ok. Sides Red coleslaw was excellent, regular coleslaw was good, beans were good, but be warned it has jalapeños in it! We will definitely be back!

Going through Tehachapi, you have to stop off at the Red House BBQ. Eclectic and rustic this place is a BINGO. Counter ordering and then the staff delivers to the table. I had a half a rack of ribs, perfect amount for lunch, with delish slaw and side salad. The spicy sauce could've used more sauce for my hot palette. My husband had the very plentiful brisket sandwich with a side o of red cabbage slaw. So good. The hard working owner and staff were delightful.

Delicious. Great place. Good prices and good bbq. I sat outside with my dog and they brought him some water and were super friendly to him. It was a little cold but I will be back when it warms up. Only slight complaints is the pulled pork on my sandwich was a little too wet and it made the bun soggy. Still good. I still ate it. Great flavor and I plan on trying other menu items. Definitely recommend.

This place was my top favorite bbq spot. they have changed some things since I've been in and it wasn't for the better. This time they had menus and a waiter. The waiter never refilled our drinks and our food took a little longer than other tables who ordered after us. We got our food and man.. the mac and cheese was like a paste and kinda warm , not the rich creamy gooey mac I remember. The pulled pork came with hardly any slaw on it and on a regular looking burger bun, not the old amazing roll they use to have. I couldn't upgrade my side either i was stuck with chips. I paid the $6 for the little side cup of mac. if I would have known I would have just skipped it. I don't think I will return. Sad day.

Had the brisket and it was great! More than enough food for the average person. Could have easily shared one meal. Only disappointment was they were out of their Mac and cheese at 4pm. We were told by the staff they run out every day. If you want there popular Mac and cheese probably better go there for lunch. A little surprised they were out before dinner time. My suggestion to this place is make more if you consistently run out every day.

Don't pass this place up, the baked potato is a must, as well at the pork ribs. I have been eating fried okra all my life, though my mom's was the best, (RIP mama). Hands down Red House is the best fried okra ever. The place is quirky and interesting, lots to look at. The service is friendly, efficient and just darling. So happy to find this gem, can't wait for my next trip through Tehachapi.

This place was great! Very cool Native American and patriotic decor. Felt like it was where all the locals normally frequent. The customer service was very good and the food was delicious! I'm was so happy they had gluten free options especially the GF Bun! I haven't enjoyed a Pulled Pork sandwich like that in a long time if ever! We were just driving through and decided to give it a try. This will definitely be an official stop for us whenever we come out this way again!

We were driving through the area and decided to stop here for lunch. The food here was delicious. It was very flavorful and the prices were reasonable. The service here was great. The waitress was very friendly and patient with us while we decided what we wanted to order. They had gluten free options clearly labeled on their menu and did not up-charge on gluten free buns, unlike most other places. Overall, this is place is worth visiting. The vibes were vibing!

Holy. Smokes. For real, this is the holy grail of BBQ. My man got the pork ribs & they were sweet & delicious, meaty & just...chef's kiss. He was saying the cornbread was so soft & delicious. The chicken sandwich with a gluten free bun? I'm in HEAVEN. So thankful for this gluten free option. It means so much! The salad didn't skimp on the toppings whatsoever & everything was fresh & delightful. The owner was in & you could tell she knew what she was doing! She took care of everyone including the staff & the staff were kind & gracious. Such an eclectic restaurant & I suggest you go inside to take a look at all the decor, so fun & honestly, so cozy. Top notch BBQ & I'd recommend this place over & over.

The food is do die for! Especially the Cajun shrimp and the catfish! The owners are the sweetest and are their employees! The atmosphere is cozy and laid back! It's definitely a Tehachapi fave!

3.5 star review rounding up. Brisket and corn bread were tasty. We came late, just before closing since we were from out of town, so they were sold out of almost everything and it was a bit of an effort to figure out what we could order. We just shared brisket and cornbread and since all other good sides were sold out we had to get a baked potato. But what we got was delicious, and servings were plentiful. The brisket was quite fatty, but I don't mind that because fat = flavor. Service was okay, not life changing and it was late at night (for Tehachapi, so like 8pm:). Ambience / decor is authentic and no frills, with lots of random stuff all over the walls. It's good solid barbecue in a mountain town. If you're in the area, it's probably the best bbq you will have! Would recommend, but go earlier before stuff sells out.

Another hit! What a fabulous place to eat. All you meat lovers beware - there is tons to choose from and all cuts are amazing! We had the brisket and pulled chicken. Good sized portions for the price. We also had 2 sides - macaroni and cheese and fried okra. The music was fantastic, upbeat, and made you want to break out in song. Service was excellent. Decorations were a blast. Come to the Red Barn for a fun eating experience.

Salty pulled pork. The younger waiters will ignore Asians and give you the side eye. The brisket was good.

The tri tip here is delicious. Get there early if that's what you're looking for as they tend to run out later in the day. Service is good. Just be prepared to wait if you go in with more than 4 people. Indoor seating is limited. Outdoor seating is great if weather is good.

It's worth the drive up the mountain! A friend, Pete, told me about Red House and went on and on about the brisket. I ordered the brisket plate with Mac and cheese and the purple slaw. It's the best brisket I've had...period. Tender, smoked just right, the taste was amazing. I highly recommend you go up the mountain and try Red House! Oh, the ladies were very friendly. Excellent service!

Excellent BBQ now with rubs and none of that sugar, excellent for keto diets. The coleslaw is excellent without that sickly sweet crap. All sorts of meat and cuts. They know how to do it ! Busy but the service and friendly people are refreshing.

Hotel front desk staff specifically mentioned this place for dinner and we were not disappointed! We were there late on a weekday night so not crowded. Lots of interesting things to look at on the walls. Wait staff very friendly. Husband had the pork ribs and the brisket, both so very good. I had the catfish and we both had the fried okra. My husband said it was the best fried okra he had ever had! Would definitely come back next time we stay here!

True smoked meats! I had the brisket, my wife had the pulled pork, and our friend had the pork ribs. Three different choices all were great! Side of beans was a great ranch style flavor. This will be a regular stop as we pass through the area in the future.

I just wanted to tell you how exceptional your meats are. The chicken, pork and brisket were tasty, juicy, and honestly ranked with the best we've ever had in our lives, and we are huge BBQ lovers! The locals who recommended your place were so happy we chose you for our son & daughter-in-law's rehearsal dinner and the people who came from out of town were thoroughly impressed! I ordered more than I thought we needed (5 lbs of each meat for 40 people), everyone got a serving or two and we finished off everything! Thank you so much! This place is amazing. All the food was delicious. The 1/2 feast could literally feed family of 5. (2 adults 2 teens and 1 kids). The Mac and cheese was delicious. The pulled pork was amazing. The ribs were a little burnt but meat was stilling falling off the bone. Service was so sweet. The owner goes around saying thank you. Love the cool water fountain inside. I saw the Indian fry bread and from what I hear from the locals it's pretty amazing! When in town always visit the red house!
