(TL;DR - ought to be a 4.5 star).
My wife picked up a take-out order of a whole chicken, fries, Mac-n-cheese, green beans, and dinner rolls. Now, I really like fried chicken. I moved to Tulsa from Atlanta and we have some really good chicken joints in Atlanta.
Red Light Chicken would fit right in. Or, at least the chicken would. Crispy, hot, juicy, actually seasoned with seasoning for chicken and not “chicken-fried steak” - you can taste the slightly salty, mild peppery crust with the underlying flavors of paprika, onion, and garlic bring to really good fried chicken.
The chicken is 5-star; the crinkle-cuts are 5-star, but that Mac-n-cheese just wasn’t making the cut. Green beans were passable but if they gave the same attention to the sides as the chicken this place would be solid 5. Green beans gotta have a little pot likker if you’re serving dinner rolls. Not everyone wants rolls for butter, not that anything whatsoever is wrong with the butter spread. As is, if I had only ordered the chicken with fries and rolls. I would give definitely drop a 5-star. So, let’s call it a 4.5
Lastly, the chicken is still good cold the next morning for breakfast. Definitely a 5-star fried chicken.
