"The ramen Foss was referring to was chef Justin Carlisle’s, now owner of Red Light Ramen (which opened in summer 2016), who at the time was hosting a popular after-hours ramen eatery in his acclaimed restaurant Ardent (still a Milwaukee hotspot since its opening in 2013)." - Marguerite Imbert

This considerably tiny ramen restaurant has a colossal taste. Your flavor palette will not be disappointed, each dish is like a personal gift. Though you might want to rush to get in it's first come first serve, but you won't want to rush to leave as the ambiance is quite nice and comfortable. An included photo of the entrance as it's a bit hidden.

Wow i am so happy i finally got to come here! it is a little smaller than i thought it would be, but it is so adorable. i love the red walls and the artwork throughout the restaurant. i also find it really cool that you have to walk down some stairs to enter. The miso mushroom ramen was really good. i liked the umami flavor of the broth, and i love anything that has mushrooms in it. they also have two desserts that i haven't had a chance to try, but are definitely on my list for next time

Truly authentic Ramen. I was fortunate enough to live in Yokohama, Japan for 2 years and was able to experience many types of Ramen, and Red Light Ramen by far has the best Ramen in Milwaukee (even better than the best Ramen I've had in Chicago). Justin, the owner, and Zach, head chef, are amazing and could not be more hospitable. Oh yeah, the slushie drinks are great too! I cannot recommend Red Light Ramen highly enough. Authentic and delicious!!

I ordered the tonkotsu and my cousin had the mushroom miso. She said it had a lot of mushrooms and got tired of them after a while. She also noted that she wished it was a bit saltier I liked the assortment of toppings in my ramen. The noodles were good and the egg was soft boiled. The broth for the tonkotsu was light. It had body but isn't strong. The atmosphere was nice and the one restroom is clean. We both ordered sake but you only get the one shot. I'm used to getting the bottle. We both spent about $20 for one drink and a bowl of ramen. I've been to better ramen places in Florida, Washington, Nevada and Texas but so far this is the best one (and only one I've been to) in Wisconsin. They are better than the place I went to in Iowa.

Such a great food and great staff. The ramen bowls are generous. We tried the rice bowl and snack pack and enjoyed both. The staff were very welcoming towards our young kids. Great place

Have wanted to eat here for awhile. Very small cozy restaurant. Six tables and just as many seats at the bar. Arrived around 6:20pm and was able to sit right away but then there was a 20 minute wait for a table. We were able to have an appetizer, the snack pack, ramen bowl and dessert in an hour. The snack pack was whipped spam, homemade spicy pickles, nori and sauces. Never had spam before and this was fun. Really enjoyed the pickles which was a relief to the salty spam. Ordered the mushroom ramen bowl. Super flavorful mushroom broth, variety of mushrooms, generous serving. The other bowl was pork broth with pork belly. Generous portions and pork forward broth flavor. Also really enjoyed our slushees. I liked the Moscow mule over the brandy old fashioned. Dessert was a ginger semifreddo with rhubarb compote. There are 3 steps down from the side walk, I did not see a handicap accessible entrance. If you bring children, the chairs are Asian stools with no backs. Not sure about high chairs. Waitstaff was very attentive and explained all the dishes to us and included recommendations on how to best eat the dish.

Ramen is ok, not super outstanding considering the cost and wait times. Wait is about 30-45min for group of 2, group of 3-4 might be a bit longer since there are limited bigger tables. Overall, it's a fun setting for eating out with friends. You will have to order at the bar, so I recommend figuring out your order while you're in line. Wait staff was very friendly and food came out quickly. I guess it's worth going before they close the business for good on July 13th, but there are other places in Milwaukee for ramen.🍜🍜🍜 Parking is very difficult in the East Side area on the streets. There is a paid lot near the old FedEx building which might be the easiest if you cannot find a spot that fits your car. If you are with a group, I would recommend 1 person drop people off to wait in line while they find a parking spot. There are stairs going down to the restaurant, so it might be limiting if you have accessibility concerns.

This place is very small and cozy and has a modern Japanese atmosphere. Although it is a small place, the service was phenomenal. It is difficult to express how amazing their ramen is. Their mushroom ramen had three different kinds of mushroom in it, and the best part is that it was made with mushroom broth. So it's vegetarian friendly! I can't wait to go here again.
