"Though it feels like a warm visit to a friend’s house, Red’s Oyster Bar pop-up is purely professional. The father-son team uses fat, juicy Fanny Bay oysters from Vancouver and serves them four ways: chargrilled Louisiana-style with bacon; topped with lobster and manchego and Oaxacan cheeses; flavored with Sriracha, and garnished with chorizo from San Pedro’s legendary Chori Man. And while it’s entirely possible to nab a raw dozen, order the grilled variety and sit down to enjoy while hot. Founders Jakob and Eric “Red” Alvarado are constantly recipe testing, so if the timing is right, one might be able to sample something new like a spin on a mignonette, or a soft shell crab slider. With oysters priced at $20 for a half-dozen or $33 for one dozen; it’s a great deal and worth going with a crew to consume. DM on Instagram for pre-orders and the operation’s address. —Mona Holmes" - Eater Staff

The menu has added many new dishes. The lobster remains as delicious as ever, and the grilled shrimp is full of flavor. However, the roasted potatoes were just average, not quite tender. Overall, it was a delightful dining experience, making for a wonderful Friday night!

Was not like it used to be. No one at front counter to sign you in for a while. Staff came and went at the counter, but never said anything. We will be with you, just a moment, someone is coming or anything to show we appreciate your business. We will be right with you. Had to wait quite a while to be seated. Many empty tables were seen. Nobody was bussing the dirty ones. Finally, we were able to be seated. Prices have gone up considerably. Guess it depends on what you order. It was that fish and chips plate. The cod was like a sponge and FULL of grease. Once it hit the bottom of my stomach. The evening was over. The other dishes were ok. Nothing to write home about. The complimentary cheese biscuits were warm and tasty. They offer a bar with a seating area. A couple of handicap parking spots in front by entrance. The parking lot is smaller size and rather tight with adjoining restaurants. Small seating area in the lobby area. Seating outside for waiting but close to banister, making it difficult to walk by people seated.

Had the day off and herd they was closing so I had to stop by. Been coming here for years. Food was great, service was good. The only thing was the environment and for some reason we couldn't pay with debit card. So we paid cash. Other than that it was good.

Great experience in this restaurant. The server was very pleasant and knowledgeable. We went at around 4 in the afternoon. My trout was tasty with side order of cole slaw and rice. I recommend it as I eat salmon at home. The menu offers deals for each day of the week. Thank you for the wonderful experience.

I made a reservation yesterday for dinner at 7.00pm for 9 people with Nadine, who I believe is the Manageress. When we went today with my relatives who came from abroad and told the lady at the counter about my reservation, she at once loudly said I don’t have a reservation under your name or any reservation for 9 people at 7pm. She was rude and so loud that even my relatives who were standing near the door heard all what she said. When I told her that the name of the lady who made the reservation was Nadine , she said that she was Nadine. I thanked God under my breath for taking her name as that was the only proof I had to show her that I made the reservation. I was very disappointed for the way Nadine handled the situation specially in front of foreigners. They were shocked and was telling me how politely they are treated in restaurants in their country. Apart from Nadine’s rude behaviour and a bit of confusion in the dishes we ordered, I must say the food was excellent and the girl who served us was very pleasant and did her best. One more suggestion before I conclude, it would be nice if the server can bring the bill in a cover rather than just handing over the piece of paper to the client.
