I love this restaurant, especially for nice occasions! This was my second time coming here and I loved it even more than the first. We had the handmade corn and goat cheese tamales, Red O chips and salsa, and Mexican street corn to start. The tamales were quite tasty, but the street corn blew me out of the water. SO TASTY! And the chips are wonderful as always. For my entree, I ordered a Red O short rib wet burrito with "xmas sauce" (half green/half red sauce) and it was quite good. I've also had the carnitas wet burrito before, and I think I still prefer the carnitas. Great service and very attentive to detail.

We came here to celebrate Father's Day and graduation with a fun brunch! 😁🎉 The atmosphere was fantastic, and we loved the food—it was so filling! Our server, Reba, was absolutely wonderful. She was super friendly and made sure we had everything we needed. The chips and tortillas were fresh and oh-so-delicious; we just couldn't get enough! We tried the Plantain French toast, Chilaquiles, Chicken enchiladas, and short rib enchiladas, and honestly, every dish was excellent!

Really nice restaurant with rustic and elegant decor. I loved the high ceilings and the indoor plants. It felt like you were in another place. We came on a Sunday for an early dinner and we almost had the whole place to ourselves. It was nice but I would also like to see how the energy is on a busier night. On to the food….i love a place that gives you complimentary chips and salsa so extra kudos for that! Our waitress was very attentive and gave us suggestions on food. I ended up getting tacos. Chicken sand short rib. They were very tasty! The tortilla were fresh and nice. They make their tortillas fresh here. I got a Flor de la Canela drink. It was delish but not sure what the fire part was as I did not see any fire on my drink…anyway, the person I was with had fajitas and those were also great!

This restaurant is absolutely stunning—designed with style and located in one of the best spots in San Diego. The ambiance is top-notch, and the service is truly five-star. The drinks were excellent, and the food was surprisingly good, even for someone like me who isn’t a big fan of Mexican cuisine. Everything was well-prepared and flavorful. The only downside was discovering gum stuck under the table, which unfortunately got on my pants. I highly recommend that the staff check under the tables more frequently. Despite that, I would still give this place five stars and highly recommend it for anyone looking for a stylish spot with great food, drinks, and exceptional service!

Just moved to this area and wanted to try this place. We went for brunch. It's definitely a step up from the usual Mexican food in price, atmosphere and brunch selections. I had the Short Rib Benedict which was excellent. Of course, we had the bottomless mimosas. Our server, Joey, was very good and very friendly. We will definitely be back. I need to try more of their dishes!😀

I never understood how this place is always so available. The food is immaculate, the service is profound and I truly enjoyed myself with the Mexican cuisine. You should visit here for the best gourmet Mexican in San Diego.

Google
The food was good, but a $219 tomahawk steak & lobster combo the lobster was overcooked. Prices here were higher than the quality of food represented. Took 20 mins and 3 requests just to get a 2nd coke. Also, the table size for 8 people was way too small.

Updated review: I went back last night. I did a pick up order only appetizers and dessert. I ordered literally 10 mins before arrival. The food was not fresh. Tasted like it had been sitting. The empanadas were limp and lukewarm. The cake wasn't even warm. To add insult to injury me and my friend both got sick after eating. We've been running to the bathroom all night and morning. This was the only thing we ate. We drove almost 2 hours to get this as an early birthday treat for me. Maybe I'll try a different location. I don't know. My first experience was great on new year's eve. Maybe it was great because it was a big day. Maybe this is their every day. I won't be driving 2 hours again to find out. Original review: I went for lunch on New Year's Eve. I was originally trying to get a reservation for Javier's and came across this place. The restaurant is BEAUTIFUL! I love the decor. They had a really pretty setup for New Year's, too! 1st off, the drinks are AMAZING! My cousin and I tried 4 different margaritas. We had no complaints about any of them. Mango was my favorite. The service for me was subpar. Nothing memorable. I can't tell you who my waiter was. At one point, we had to look for him to order something. Therewase barely anyone there at our time. Now on to the food. We tried multiple items. The chips and salsa were really good. The guacamole was bland to me. I liked the plantain chips. For appetizers, we had the duck taquitos and the carnitas empanadas. Both were very good. The empanadas were my favorite of everything. The sauce that comes with it? Chefs, kiss 💋! We got an order of both appetizers to go. For entrees, I had the steak and shrimp fajitas, and my cousin had the shrimp enchiladas. I enjoyed mine. Hers could use a little more flavor. I also ordered the short rib enchiladas to go. They were bland too. The rice and beans were fire, though. Last but definitely not least we got the dessert flight with butter cake, tre leches and churros. Everything was delicious! If you don't get anything else get the BUTTER CAKE!!!!! Omgggggg orgasmic. My favorites were #1 Butter cake #2 empanadas. We'll definitely be returning and trying something new. Oh, and one more thing if you download inkind they have a $50 off coupon that we forgot to use. Do yourself a favor and use it.

Yelp
We explored the Happy Hour (offered daily 3-6PM and Friday & Saturday, 9-11PM) menu this time around and discovered some great dishes at reasonable prices. - Slow-Braised Duck Taquitos | Crunchy taquito shell filled with slow-cooked duck and sitting in tomato-árbol chile sauce. Baby arugula tops this dish. The duck was slightly dry, even after dipping it into their amazing chile sauce, if that makes sense. - Chilled Shrimp Ceviche | Refreshing and zesty with avocado for added creaminess. The plantain chips are mildly sweet and crunchy. Stunning dish. - Crispy Carnitas Empanadas | Great use of ingredients (fresh corn masa, house cheese blend, tender carnitas) and the avocado tomatillo salsa adds creaminess and acidity. - Crispy Empanada Poppers | Similar to jalapeño poppers, but in empanada form. I loved the simplicity of ingredients as the flavors are more prominent. - Handmade Corn & Goat Cheese Tamales | Creamy and a little tangy, these tamales were topped with crema and tomatillo salsa which really added more depth to its flavor profile. Really done well (the corn masa was moist too)! THE DRUNK DRINKS (OFF THE HAPPY HOUR MENU). - Spicy Mango Mojito | A sweet and tarty drink, but the serrano syrup kicked my ass. It's best to consume in small sips. These drinks were not off the Happy Hour menu, but we had to try them anyway... - Cocorita | Oddly great. The coconut water, lime juice, agave, and tequila gave it this very refreshing, slightly sweet with acidic undertones. It comes in an actual coconut... a little gimmicky, but sure, why not. - Tamarindo Loco | Made with strawberry pureé. It's got a lot of flavors here... sweet, tangy, sour, and back to sweet. It was a little confusing, but we drank it nevertheless. Pro Tip: Taco Tuesday! Tacos run about $5 each, which seems high, but normal pricing is about $25 for 2 tacos or 3 for $30 (it does come with red rice & refried beans). So, you are paying considerably less. How much less? Well, that's math's problem, not mine.

Yelp
Food was absolutely amazing! I got the shrimp enchiladas and they were really delicious. Service was okay- we were basically the only ones in the restaurant for lunch and it took a very long time to get our drinks. Our food came out first and we got our drinks way after. Ambiance of the restaurant was very nice. It's very spacious and clean. The restaurant is hidden in kind of a business plaza and not very noticeable. We thought we were at the wrong place at first

Yelp
Found my new favorite restaurant in San Diego! Red O's is gorgeous inside and out. Go see it for yourself, check out the pictures attached. Service is fast and friendly. Huge shoutout to the bartender, Kevin, for the awesome skinny/spicy margarita and tequila + beer recommendations. He was so attentive and friendly, and took extra care with each drink. Food is delicious. I tried the empanadas, guac, green salad, and salmon, all of which were phenomenal. The tres leches cake was the best I've ever tasted. The only thing that should be entirely removed off the menu is the filet mignon - the color on the meat is very displeasing and it tasted sour despite being tender - likely an inappropriate marinade. Can't wait for the next time I visit. This is a great place for a special occasion, groups, happy hour, or to impress a date.

Yelp
I recently visited Red O in La Jolla and had a great experience. We went early on a Monday without reservations and were seated and greeted quickly. Our server was amazing and very helpful, especially since I was being picky and needed some substitutions for my order.I had the Peachy Keen, and my husband had the Tamarindo Loco. The drinks came out fast, and we ordered our food shortly after. My husband got the fajitas, and I got the tacos dorados. Although I didn't really want the tacos dorados, they were still great, with a good amount of rice and beans. The fries were really good as well. The menu is simple, so if you're a picky eater like me, I recommend doing some research beforehand. I forgot the server's name, but she was a big help. Overall, it was a positive experience, and I'd definitely recommend Red O.

Yelp
Came here for anniversary dinner. Food was awesome. We had the empanada poppers and they were so yummy with the cilantro sauce. Then we shared the fajitas perfect for 2 people. Came with rice, beans, tortillas and salsas. The service was too notch! Jose helped us out and made our experience enjoyable. The place is so beautiful and romantic. Wish we came at night. Will come back!

Yelp
We had a great experience at Red O, our server Omar was awesome. he helped us decide on dinner after I was disappointed to find out that the Chile Relleno was removed from the menu but nonetheless it was a great experience. Just hope that some of the favorite dinner items will come back!

Yelp
Dined here today 6/15 for an early Father's Day dinner, was greeted by a nice hostess and sat right away. Once sat it took a while for the server to get to us, we had a party of 5. Restaurant was not very packed as we dined a bit early in hopes to beat the dinner rush. We ordered 3 drinks, it took a bit to get to us. Service overall seemed very slow, at times felt like we were forgotten. Food was just okay, I have previously dined here prior and was very impressed. This time around the family and I did not think the overall experience was there. Inside the restaurant has an upscale ambiance, a bit dark and play good music. I won't be in a rush to come back.

Yelp
I had this place on my radar since their grand opening, and I've finally made my way here for lunch on 3/09/24 during San Diego restaurant week. Complimentary chips and salsa. The chips were thin, warm, and crispy. The salsa was chunky and zesty, just the way I like it, 4/5 stars overall. Crispy Empanada Poppers, do indeed pop with plenty of cream cheese and a slight bite of spice on the tip of your tongue. It would have been perfect if it was also stuffed with short rib or carnitas, 4/5 stars overall. Taquitos De Pollo: a generous amount of chicken inside, and the perfectly crispy tortilla with the fresh veggies and cotija cheese made this an enjoyable appetizer, 4.5/5 stars. Carnitas Wet Burrito: a work of art visually and gustatorily. The verde sauce was savory without any overpowering lime flavor. The red sauce had the traditional bitter enchilada sauce, but the onions and garlic notes were pleasing. The carnitas were plenty, tender and juicy, 4/5 stars. Crispy Vegan Tacos: the tempura portobello was crisp to perfection and paired well with the fresh mango salsa, 4/5 stars. Tres Leches Cake: the sweet fruit was an excellent combo with the soft cake soaked in milk. The cake itself was mildly flavored, but the berries took it up a notch, 4/5 stars. Onto the restaurant, as it has an open layout that I appreciate and is immaculately clean. The hostesses and our server, Raina, provided prompt and friendly service. The manager even visited each table to make sure everything was enjoyable. And there was no doubt about that!

Yelp
I attended an event here and was impressed with their food, drinks and vibes. They have a tequila cart that offers a variety of tequilas. I'm not a tequila person but I loved my cocorita (margarita in a fresh coconut).

Yelp
Certain dishes are fabulous and others are just OK. During my experience here the service was horrendous. Slow, non-attentive, forgetful, and rushed. I felt like my group of friends were non-factors. Mind you, this was a Tuesday night and not very busy. Food is fabulous and worth a visit. Best items on the menu are the tuna tartare, duck taquitos, and the salmon with keto risotto. Enchiladas were just OK, can find better at other places. Drinks were wonderful. I ordered the Paloma and it was tart, delicious, and a fair amount of alcohol. Fun place to be if you get the right service.

Yelp
Please pay attention to many of the reviewers that awarded this place five stars. The majority have little to one review to their name. This might suggest the business is soliciting grand reviews from their customers. Buyer beware when reading about this place.

Yelp
The restaurant has ambience and good food. I've been here at least four times and every meal was good. Margaritas are fantastic. Today I had mussels and clams in a slightly spicy broth. It was delicious!

Yelp
Be aware that the waiter will trick you by asking if you want sparkling or still water, but not telling you that there's a charge with it and it's $12/bottle !

Yelp
Atmosphere was great, service was great, food was so-so. I really wish the food had more flavor, other wise it was good

Yelp
Red O is a great place for a nice dinner. When seated, you get a big mountain of fresh tortilla chips and fresh salsa (refillable). I couldn't decide on what to get so I decided to split the 1 pound lobster and tomahawk steak dinner. Everything was absolutely delicious and filling. The order came with corn and flour tortilla, fresh guacamole with pomegranate seeds, fresh pico de gallo, red rice, and beans. There is also a green and red sauce (probably butter based) that is so good when drizzled on the meat. Also, you get grilled bell peppers and onions on the plate. This meal can feed at least 3-4 people. The watermelon margarita was very good. The server lit a flame around the rim of the glass. The interior is super nice. Although you have to park in a parking structure across the way. It's a paid parking structure but you can get a voucher to void the parking fee.
google avatar

Yelp
Great service and ambiance! Didn't realize how nice the inside of the restaurant would be but it was very lively. I ordered some tacos, a cucumber marg and a glass of wine. A little pricey but I'd go again for the atmosphere and location (very close to the UTC mall). If you want to avoid paying to park or valet, then there's a parking garage nearby and the restaurant will provide you a sticker to scan to validate the parking pass.

Yelp
I had super high hopes for this restaurant, sadly it failed. We chose this restaurant in celebration for my brother in-law birthday. It breaks my heart but I need to be 100% honest and authentic. Below are listed reasons why I rated this so low. 5/5: The ambience This gave all the vibes and was amazing from the decor, the music etc! Our table had a welcoming, happy birthday card for my brother-in-law, which was super sweet and awesome! 4/5: Drinks I would have rated this 5/5 had they used actual rim paste and chilito powder verses using tajin and chamoy store bought sauce. The drinks themselves tasted amazing and we received them quickly. 1/5: FOOD This was by far the most disappointing meal I've had in a long time! Chicken enchiladas: 4/5 Beans & Rice: (up-charge fyi) not included in meal- 1/5- dry no flavor at all Mexican Street Corn: -1/5 YES negative HORRIBLE, was luke warm almost cold and drowning in a sour tomatillo sauce I couldn't even eat it! Zero flavor of anything remotely close to what Mexican Street Corn should taste like! Queso Fundito: 3/5 WARNING ours was top with Serrano which ruined it for me personally but the rest of my group enjoyed it! Without any warning mind you! Comes with plenty of tortillas, which is a plus! Shrimp Ceviche: -1/5 Sadly it lacked total flavor AND shrimp! Super disappointing as it was my actual meal. Maybe I didn't see it, but they came with plantain chips which were not edible and not actual chips. Could potentially be my own fault, but just be aware. Short rib enchiladas: 4/5 I did take a bite of my sisters, short rib, enchiladas, and they were by far the best thing I had eaten during my meal there. She absolutely loved them. They slow cook them for several hours and they had a lot of flavors surprisingly being that nothing else in our meal had flavor. Empanada poppers: 3/5 It was disappointing as we had ordered this as an appetizer, and we had to remind our waiter two times they were brought out during our actual meal. They were not that bad, but they also were not hot. They were more lukewarm. flavor was good it taste like some cream cheese and Oaxaca cheese mixture it could use a little salt would make a world of difference. Carnitas: 3/4 My brother-in-law ordered this meal. He said it was OK. It did lack flavor, but that seems to be an overall for this restaurant. Child Tacos: 2/5 This came with two Carne Asada tacos completely unflavored, maybe because it was for a child? My niece was happy it came with French fries, as an adult the tacos lacked massively. Waiter: I typically wouldn't say anything about this, but our waiter was pretty much nonexistent. He forgot several things, and it just was really difficult to enjoy ourselves with having to wait and wonder where he was or when our food would arrive. Overall, I am very upset ad this meal costed us $320 for four adults and one child. Unfortunately, I will never return to this location. It was extremely expensive and not worth it for me. You give it a try and maybe leave a comment if you go there and let me know what you think.

Yelp
This place feels like a little getaway with all the greenery around. Food was pretty good. Started with empanadas and beet and kale salad. Ordered enchiladas. Had to finish it off with tres leches cake. Washed it all down with a couple of margaritas.

Yelp
Wanted to get a taste of Mexico so dined with Red O! Was looking for restaurant that opened late and found Red O, across the street from Westfield UTC. It's an upscale and fancy Mexican restaurant. We came around 9 pm for dinner and did not need a reservation. We got an espresso martini and the Sunday dinner for two ($49), which comes with braised pork, red onions, trio of salsa, tortilla, rice, and beans. I like being able to make my own tacos. The meat was extremely juicy and tender! It was freshly made, with their warm tortilla. Chips and salsa were complimentary and unlimited. The servers were quick and nice. Had a lovely dining experience!

Yelp
Absolutely love the decor for this place! It's fancyish, but also casualish. It's interesting, I like it. Staff is very friendly here and they make fantastic drinks! Perfect for happy hour or a little lunch getaway from work. I got their Blackberry Bramble to start and I loved it! It wasn't sweet at all, which is my preference, and the blackberry flavor was strong but not overwhelming. Absolutely delicious and gorgeous to look at! They brought out some chips and salsa to start and their salsa was pretty good too. I'm not sure if it's made in house or not, but I really enjoyed it. I would've liked for it to be a bit spicier, but they did give us a habanero salsa to add for extra spice. I also loved how the tortilla chips came out very warm. I wasn't very hungry, so I got the Chilled Ahi Tuna Tartare and this was really great! The presentation was incredibly unique with the clear separation in layers, but it all worked very well together. It wasn't the best tuna tartare I've ever had, but it was still very fresh and I really enjoyed the overall flavor. I think the prices can be a lot if it's not happy hour and I'm not sure all the dishes are worth the price. I loved everything about it and I can't wait to come back and try more stuff.

Yelp
I came into this place with low expectations because I thought it was another overpriced elevated Mexican food.....turns out it's not too shabby! Parking: there is valet right in the front for $12 or parking on the side for self parking. The atmosphere: nicely decorated for the holidays and gives off fancy Mexican cuisine. The food was actually better than Javier's - not sure if I was hungry or if it was simply great! I shared the empanadas and sopa - both were tasty and crispy The Fajitas steak could use a little more seasoning and sauce. It came with either corn or flour tortillas, beans and rice as well. If you like spicy hot sauce - try the habaneros salsa, it def has a kick to it! The fish tacos were crispy and amazing - def recommend that The drinks were pretty good - the spicy mango mojito was settle and a little bit spicy. The service was phenomenal as the waiters were very attentive especially having to deal with such a large party.

Yelp
The service was amazing! Omar was super attentive and made my friend and I feel like the stars of the show, especially since it was our first time here. The food was amazing as well! The Ceviche was vinegary and was super refreshing! The steak was well seasoned and moist! The tacos were a little bland, but overall tasted really good! 10/10 would come again!

Yelp
This is definitely an upscale Mexican an restaurant. The decor is beautiful and all the staff I encountered was very sweet and friendly. It was a bit noisy as there was an event going on. However, the drinks and the food were all delicious!! Food Review: (didn't take pics last night aside from one) The chips and salsa are banging. The salsa was so good our table went through about 6 bowls of the salsa for our food. Idk what it is. The flavor is soooo good! Queso dip: (5/5) This was BOMB. You have to scrape the edges of the pan when the middle is gone. It's the most delicious crispy cheese. Bean dip: (4/5) Their beans are yummy! I was dipping my chips in beans and salsa. Slow braised short rib enchiladas: (5/5) omg. The meat was so flavorful and tender. It was also a good amount. It had a little spice to it, but super delicious. My friends ordered fish tacos, chicken enchiladas, and vegan tacos and they all enjoyed their meals! Dessert platter: (5/5) We ordered tres leches, carajillo cheesecake, and churros! The tres leches was out of this world. The cheesecake is good for coffee lovers, it has kahlua in it as well. The churros are filled and comes with dipping sauce. So delicious! Drinks: Blackberry bramble: (5/5) I was shocked at how delicious this drink was. It's made with gin and definitely on the sweeter side. Super flavorful. Everyone tried mine and LOVED it. Spicy Margarita: (5/5) Delicious and definitely spicy! Spicy mango mojito: (4/5) I tried my friend's. Not a huge mojito fan, but this one had really good flavor!

Yelp
Came here for happy hour and tried some new small plates! Picture features Carnitas taco, Spicy Adobo wings, and the Empanada poppers. The wings were surprisingly very good as we weren't sure what to expect! The empanadas were a little too cheesy, so likely wouldn't order again. But you can't go wrong with any of the tacos!

Yelp
Came here to the first time for my boyfriend's bday and had an amazing experience. The inside is so nicely decorated and the service was amazing. They have great margaritas highly recommend the sun burn one. The food was also delicious we were stuffed. We will definitely be coming back.

Yelp
RedO made my birthday dinner so special! We started it off with the coco Rita which was SO fun since it came in a coconut! And it tasted amazing - think margarita with a splash of coconut water. We also got the empanadas for an app which were SO tasty and the perfect amount of food for 2 people. I'm hind sight, I do wish we wound have shared an entree after eating these first. For dinner we both go different taco plates. The beans and rice were out of this world, but I must say that the tacos were underwhelming. Nothing too special which was surprising since everything else was exceptional. I would recommend trying the fajitas or enchiladas. For dessert, our server brought us so tres leches and some pyrotechnics! Again, AMAZING. But we were so full we couldn't finish it. The service was so fast and professional, and the vibes were impeccable. It is walking distance from my house, so I will be returning, but I think I'll walk next time since parking was kind of confusing/difficult since it's right next to a business park.

Yelp
The food was great and we were attended very quickly ! Everything on point especially Omar who took care of us very well. Thank you Omar!

Yelp
Today was my daughters bday , she wanted to come celebrate at the Red O. We were pleased with the service Omar provided. After our dinner , Omar enlightened me a with a birthday cake and candles . We are thankful with the Red O team for Brightening my daughter's evening . Maurice .

We got the thress leches so good and the surf and turf w mole. so amazing.

Yelp
Great service , Omar and Baltazar were great amazing service . Celebrated our friends birthday amazing service thank you . Gracias por su servisio mi gente .

Yelp
The food was good but the service wasn't. Our server would bring appetizers and other food items to the table that no one asked for so we assumed it was free. When the bill came we realized it wasn't. The manager was great and she helped us get everything cleared up and even gave complimentary dessert for inconvenience.

Yelp
This place is tucked between comercial buildings. They do offer valet parking as well as they have a parking garage in which they validate for. Now finding the parking garage is tricky because there are no lights over any of the signage. When entering the parking garage from the main road where the restaurant faces the mall you will see the valet on the right in front of the restaurant DON'T go right. Go LEFT straight into the first parking garage 4350. There are signs posted with parking garage fees, but the restaurant does validate for a reasonable time while dinning. The restaurant it self was gorgeous. Especially for the holidays the restaurant was dripping in holiday decor. As you walk in you're greeted by a host and full bar while waiting for a table. The decor was well decorated and so warm and inviting. The center of the room had a large plants and an abundance of mood lighting. Each corner of the restaurant had full tequila bars showcasing the large variety of liquor. The waitress was spot on about the el coyote drink and we surprising loved the Empanada poppers with the fresh corn masa the mixture of the spiced cream cheese and avocado crema was a great start to awaken our taste buds. I wish they had a trip platter of tacos to try them all. Sadly that request was denied. The carnitas didn't lack any flavor and was juicy bursting with well seasoned carnitas. I took away a star because as we were finishing our meal our waitress continued to take the chips/salsa or our drinks out of our hand as we were still eating enjoying our night out. It was so out of left field as it was mid bite. We thought maybe the restaurant was closing but in reality it still had another hour and multiple tables still eating. We felt rushed and awkward as we couldn't even finish our drinks. Overall the restaurant was gorgeous and a great place to enjoy a meal. I would love to explore more of the menu before I decide about the food. fresh corn masa, spicy cream cheese, avocado crema

Yelp
Nice ambiance. Service was absolutely wonderful. The food was good but not certain it lived up to the final bill. All in all a safe choice but be prepared to pay more than you anticipate. Parking ... You will have to park either in the street adjacent to the restaurant or in a parking garage about 1/4 mile away. We chose the garage and their validation did not work at the machine. Had to pay $18 to exit. Talking to the front desk after driving up, it is a known issue that happens occasionally and I was asked to approach the company that owns the garage. Phone call and an email later and I have yet to get reimbursed.

Yelp
Red O is the workplace meet up spot for team lunches and happy hours. It's on the pricier side, so going for happy hour is an easier check to swallow. The drink of choice for a few of us is the spicy mango mojito. It's a fruitier, sweet and spicy drink with a tajin rim and a serrano agave syrup. To eat, I normally get the ahi tartare because it's fresh, light, has big pieces of tuna, avocado, and a tortilla chip crumble. For a bit of indulgence, I usually order the empanada poppers which are masa empanadas filled with a spicy cream cheese served with a creamy salsa on the side. It's a large restaurant with a nice patio and bar area with high tops, though the main dining room is also gorgeous and comfortable.

Yelp
Food was amazing - we each had the chopped salad. The service was attentive. What really spoiled it for me was the shady service. We weren't told that the water he poured was 12$. I ordered wine and wasn't told that he chose the 19$ wine over the 14$ on my behalf. It felt like he was padding the sale. I waited tables in college and know the deal.

Yelp
So our server Maria was amazing, it's just to bad the food wasn't as good as she was. Let's start with the goods the duck rolled tacos are really something special. I want these to be an option at ever regular taco shop I go to! But it's sad to say out of all the items we had (filet mignon, lamb chops with mole, queso fundido) the thing that I loved most was the duck taquitos... actually the Yuka potatoes and sauce that my wife's steak sat on top of was outstanding... if I could have put those potatoes and sauce all over my duck tacos that would have been the greatest dish on the menu.. They said the tortillas where hand made , but you know what I think... I think not. Besides the food being underwhelming. One plus where the MockTales we tried 3 of them and oh my goodness they where delicious second best MockTales we've ever had next to Ani Mae! All in all thank you for having us for our 3 year Anniversary!

Yelp
My husband and I returned to Red O to try some of their other dishes. The empanada poppers were as phenomenal as the last time. The mango mojito was beautiful and tasty but I can't say I tasted any mango flavor or alcohol. My husband and I both enjoyed our enchiladas; he had the braised short rib enchiladas and I had the spinach enchiladas. I'm on the fence about the queso fundido. It's fine but it's essentially just a skillet of cheese. It looks good and I like the fresh herbs and spices used but in my opinion it's definitely not worth $17. The service is always great and the ambiance is fun and casual. We were already thinking about what we might order next time. 10/10 recommend!

Yelp
In my experience, it's always a fun time at Red O happy hour. I've been several times and on my most recent visit I arrived on a Saturday with a party of five. We had the bar area to ourselves. We spent two hours enjoying the food, the drinks, and the company. The staff were attentive and friendly. The setting is elegant but also very relaxed. I like the quesadillas. It's a simple dish with some complexity that is plated beautifully. The tacos, burritos and enchiladas are all a good choice. Dishes are made with fresh ingredients that offer a range of spice flavors. It's worth trying something you know well and something you may have not tried before. You will likely be glad you did. The prices vary. We often do brunch or happy hour which are Waller friendly. The noise level is good here. You can maintain a conversation without having to yell. Other patrons seemed friendly but not intrusive. See website for hours, menu and location. Parking is available in the garage with validation. Train stop nearby.

Yelp
This place is fancy! Parking options are $10 for valet or you can park in the west parking lot which is not too far, and the restaurant will validate for 3 hours but there are no signs that say that so I had to drive up to valet to ask. The parking lot otherwise is $3 every 29 min. Service was awesome! Chips and salsa are provided. Salsa is pretty decent but not the greatest. Their regular menu has some good stuff like short rib enchiladas which I will need to return to try but for Mexican food, it's fairly expensive as are the drinks. Their happy hour is from 4-6 pm I believe and they have a happy hour menu which is extremely reasonable!! The cucumber refresher margarita is excellent and refreshing. The duck taquitos and the spicy sauce they come with are delish!! The empanadas are tasty and a little different with oozing cheese. The blackened chicken quesadilla also good. The taco al pastor I didn't care for as it was a little on the sweet end, maybe too much pineapple so it took away from the al pastor taste but some others at the table liked it. Overall, really good experience and I would go back esp for those duck taquitos!!

Yelp
Red O is all about the awesome environment and vibes, and is a great spot to get together with friends for a night out. The drinks are good, the food menu is full of options, the decorations are cool and the restaurant itself is big enough to accommodate multiple large parties without having long wait or service times. We came here for a friends birthday and really enjoyed our time here and the whole feel of the restaurant. We also spent some time hanging out at our table after closing out for the night, and the waitstaff was totally fine with this, which we really appreciated since we were catching up and celebrating. In terms of food, we did have fairly high expectations for our meals due to reviews of friends and online which admittedly weren't quite met, but we still felt like it was good overall. I had chicken tortilla soup which was tasty and flavorful, and the elote was another hit at the table. The short rib enchiladas were something we were very excited to try but fell short, and I felt similarly about the queso dip (which is surprising, because by nature queso is almost always delicious). The margaritas were solid, and my Blackberry Bramble drink was super sweet (which I am a fan of, but might not be everyone's cup of... gin) and definitely poured with a heavy hand which is highly appreciated for a $15 drink. I am usually a 2 drink girl when I go out but because of the sweetness and alcohol content I was able to sip and enjoy it throughout the entire dinner, which made the higher price tag feel more worth it. Regardless of the food not quite being as good as we'd hoped, everyone in our party of 8 agreed that they would like to come back sometime as it was a good spot to hang out and we all had a good time. I hope Red O sticks around for a while, and I am definitely curious about more of their menu for future visits!

Yelp
Happy hour in the bar area til 6. Good vibes, good food and good drinks! What more than you can ask. I even don't mind parking in the parking structure as the walk between the office building is nice with the pond and rotating art! Love the carnitas empanada, the empanada poppers, queso fundido and their street tacos!

Yelp
RED O Taste of Mexico has a lot going for it. The ambiance is upscale, the food is good, and the service is professional and attentative. I have dined here a few times when I want to spend a fair amount on a nice meal. The prices are definitely on the high side, but it is a nice time regardless. Last night, I ordered the chicken fajitas with no rice and double beans. The Yelp check-in deal brought out a classic guacamole, which the fajitas were lacking. The margarita was very good with simple syrup in lieu or agave nectar. And the chips were fresh and crunchy. I am a fan of RED O and will likely return. Parking is either valet or in the nearby structure, where RED O will validate your parking slip. If this restaurant was slightly more affordable, I would give them five stars. But judging by the nearly full house, they don't need to be.

Yelp
The best happy hour in UTC is hands down at Red O. The service was 5 stars. Ambiance upscale. Food delicious. Drinks stellar. Almost everything we ordered was 10/10 except for the corn tamales which although excelled in texture, tasted very bland. I wondered why it was topped with excessive amounts of verde salsa. The queso fundidio, duck taquitos and carnitas empanadas all worth ordering again. Favorite tacos on HH is the el dorado aka crispy taco with short ribs. Couldn't decide so ended get both the passion fruit butter cake and the carajillo cheesecake. Still can't decide which was one better.
