13 Must-Try Missouri City Restaurants

"This Mediterranean grill serves up a variety of Middle Eastern, American, and vegetarian delights. While kebabs and gyro wraps are ideal for quick lunches, Red Oak offers a variety of favorites like the classic beef or chicken shawarmas, accompanied by hummus and tabouleh, and the Mediterranean vegetarian plate served with a spinach pie, stuffed grape leaves, and falafel." - Rebecca Deurlein

We had no expectations for this restaurant and found it to be a pleasant surprise. There is plenty of parking. Indoor and outdoor seating is available. The restaurant was tastefully decorated. The service was very friendly. The food was the real treat. It was fresh and packed with delicious flavors and aromas. The frozen peach and lime margaritas were wine based and were amazing! I think we have discovered a new obsession!!!

Google
We go for a healthy Sunday brunch. Not crowded. Great service. Food is wonderfully fresh. Patio seating and 70s rock music playing not too loudly. Not inexpensive, but lately nothing is. Recommend the shrimp wrap and the spinach salad with added feta. Just to follow-up 9 mos later... Still enjoyable. Still get more than a serving of what you order. I had big chunks of shrimp falling out of my shrimp wrap as I ate it. Clean, uncrowded patio. 02/02/2025 - Well they've changed their menu, which was disappointing, so BEWARE. But the food and service were still pretty good, so no ratings change.

Google
We ordered a Schwarma and a vegetarian dish, which we shared. It was good, decent Lebanese. The bread was dry and hard, and the dolma was too soggy. The restaurant seems odd to me. The seating area feels like a restaurant, and is nice. But you order at the counter, which I find odd. They do bring the good out, which is nice. I found the service to be competent and friendly. It felt family run, by people who care about what they are serving. I’m wouldn’t say no to returning, but wouldn’t suggest coming here either as I didn’t enjoy ordering at the counter and paying a tip for the pleasure.

My husband and I visited Red Oak Grill (Missouri City) for lunch. The food was delicious and excellent service! Their restaurant was clean and very welcoming. We definitely plan on visiting again while we visit Texas. Highly recommended stopping in a supporting a fresh and local restaurant!!!

Google
The place is in a shopping center in Missouri City, so they have ample parking. It was empty when I arrived with maybe two other guests. You order at the counter and they bring the food to you. It's not a sit and be waited on restaurant. The utensils and fountain drinks are to the left of the counter. They have a small vegetarian option but a bigger option if you're pescatarian. The meal was good but not great. I hate carrots, especially large cut carrots, so I didn't care for the mixed vegetables. Overall, it's nice. The tables are spaced well, so if you have a wheelchair you should be able to eat there.

Google
I had the Greek salad. Enjoyed it. This place was somewhat different. Pay up front, also asked for a tip prior to service when using your credit card. Didn’t leave a tip because I hadn’t received any service other putting in my order. Was there over an hour., no one ever came to my table to ask if I needed anything. Horrible service after you get your meal.

Google
I don’t know what’s happened, but the quality of food has gone completely downhill. Ordered the beef shawarma plate. The meat was so overcooked it was like jerky, the tzatziki was as thin as water, the mixed double veggies were frozen veggies and the pita was stale. This is the 3rd time I’ve ordered, in a row, with terrible food.

Google
This is our typical Mediterranean restaurant we prefer to dine at. We have been very pleased with the chicken shwarma plate and kid’s cheeseburger. Although we typically don’t deviate from this, we received wraps in error and they were pleasantly good. Today we got the kids hotdogs and the bread was very stale. Other than that, food is great.

Yelp
Food was average/ok but over priced. I had lamb chops. Daughter had a panini and said her chicken was a little. The place is entirely self serve. You stand in line and even fix your own drinks and grab your own condiments. Yet you're still expected to tip? And plates are priced same as a full service restaurant. Probably will not visit again.

Yelp
Food was amazing, recently had it at swamp rabbit brewing on trivia night! BBQ was delicious and the pickles and.pickeld onions rocked by themselves or with the sandwich. The sauce served was tangy and sweet !

Yelp
Nice place. Great prices on alcohol. Munchies very good as well as entrees. Had hummus appetizer, artichoke dip, kebabs entree. All good!

Larisa G.

Yelp
Crappy service and attitude. Placed an online order for two items one of which was a baked potato. My husband picks up the order and they casually mention that they don't have any more baked potatoes but to not worry that they have refunded us. On one hand, that was the technical "right" thing to do but there was no apology and most restaurants CALL to let you know if something is out of stock/don't have it on the menu...we simply wouldn't have gotten takeout at all here if we had known about the lack of baked potatoes because the only reason we were getting one was for my meal due to the fact that I'm currently ill and unable to eat much. First and last time eating here, which is a shame because I love this type of food and I was looking forward to trying this in person sometime soon.

Yelp
Tried Red Oak Grill for the first time and it is GREAT if you like Mediterranean food. The meat was perfectly cooked, the hummus and the tabouleh were both great as well. This place definitely deserves more business. We both enjoy the Chicken Shawarma and the Gyro Plate. Restaurant was clean, service was quick and friendly. It was counter service for dinner time, which isn't a problem, just something to consider. All in all, very enjoyable dining experience, highly recommend!

Yelp
Really good gyros here. My wife and I love the food, service, and ambiance of this restaurant. Have been going here for many years. Highly recommended

Yelp
Great food and nice menu choices. The food is always well prepared. Excellent service when I've been there in person. The atmosphere is totally family oriented and I love it.

Stalin C.

Yelp
Order 3 wraps today (falafel, Gyro, and Beef Shawarma). All 3 were bland and very dry, no sauce, no flavor, didn't taste authentic. I had high hope for this place given that my wife and I always talked about ordering here. Dissapointed.

Yelp
My wife and I decided to get a quick meal after spending the morning in the Houston area. She was hungry for a GOOD sandwich and coffee. I've passed by this place several times so we checked it out. We were a little early for the lunch rush hour which was good because the menu has an extensive list of items. My wife ordered the grilled chicken and mushroom sandwich, I went for the basic Philly Cheese. Both sandwiches were great, but my wifes sandwich was bomb! Lot's of different flavors! The coffee was fresh and the atmosphere was excellent. I felt this would be an awesome place to just eat some food and chill for a few hours over a nice bottle of wine. We will definitely be returning!

Yelp
Good food and high prices. Nice menu. Great big onion rings. One of very few restaurants that have survived the competition.

Teresa E.

Yelp
What a great dining experience. We loved the entertainment. Food is great and owners go out of the way to make it special.

Yelp
I went here while visiting and was on the Daniel Fast. I was able to find things that I could eat and it wasn't too bad! I got the veggie wrap, a little dry for my taste, and the Mediterranean salad (very good). The service was good, you order at the counter when you come in, get a number, then take a seat and they bring you the food. I wish I was able to try more, but that was bc of me not them. Overall I'd go back again. It wasn't super full, maybe 2 others groups of people so definitely wasn't super busy.

Patricia E.

Yelp
I've been to Red Oak Grill many times but had a different experience last week. They had live entertainment Friday night. The two musicians were very enjoyable. My friend and I had the hummus sampler (always good), and sangria (also very good). The owner was making rounds and greeting everyone to be sure we had great service. It was crowded so my advice to enjoy the music, arrive early and sit near the musicians. The food is always great quality and well prepared. Enjoy!

Yelp
This place is really solid! I ordered the Chicken Shawarma Plate and Spinach Pie. The spinach pies were okay. I wasn't blown away. The Chicken Shawarma Plate was really good! I thoroughly enjoyed my entree. The food was pretty filling and incredibly flavorful. The food was a bit pricey but it definitely worth a try.

Yelp
GREAT food. The Texas burger was one of the best burgers I've ever had in my life. Staff were very bored-looking teenagers though. Only downside.
google avatar

Amy H.

Yelp
Always good and filling. The vegetarian Meditation Plate was the best. Mediterranean Vegetarian Plate

Yelp
Good food, and always very nice service whether dining in or getting takeout. My family and I are always satisfied. Thanks so much for the convenience of your location and great menu.

Yelp
This place is perfect for a quick lunch. We placed our order at the counter. Our food came pretty quick. I liked that they offered decent wine list. Living near greek town, we ate a lot fresh Mediterranean food so it's easy for us to compare. This restaurant was okay.

Sandra S.

Yelp
Best Mediterranean food in Sugar Land! I love their hummus, gyros and Mediterranean salad!

Yelp
Husband and I were unusually adventurous. From s w Houston. Drove through Missouri City. Then went west. Found ourselves highway 6. Found, stumbled upon Red Oak Grill, American Mediterranean. We'd never heard of. Our source of info, Google and the star rating. Growing hungrier as the drive continued. Hoping to hurriedly find this place. Called in the order from the parking lot. Came in to pay for my order. Whomever took my order was very nice, helpful and pleasant. Nice looking restaurant. I went to go wait in the car: hubby and small dog. Shortly, I see restaurant staff heading towards my car. I was surprised. The staff so kind to walk my order to me. That was very kind. Hubby got gyro plate. Food delicious. Every bite. I ordered catfish fillets, mashed potatoes, butter, corn. Comes with Texas Toast. Healthy portion entree. Excellent choice. Food delicious. Comes with tartar sauce but the fillets are so well seasoned and cooked nicely, you don't need the tartar sauce. Mashed potatoes too. Are delicious without the butter. Every bite, too, delicious. Our new, restaurant find for delicious food and different, out of our area. Hubby and I often crave country, Southern cooking. This will be our new, regular. On my way out of the restaurant I notice there is a patio for dining. I asked if on another occasion could a small dog be permitted on the patio. Fast response: yes. I told them when we do decide to dine, I'll call in advance just to make sure it will be all right. Highly, highly recommend. Excellent in many aspects and ways. Excellent food, excellent service, excellent customer service and attractive looking restaurant

Yelp
My husband and I have been wanting to try this place out for a while because we drive by this strip all the time. I'm glad we finally did! It's pretty casual, you order at the front counter, pay there, and they will hand you a number. You can sit where ever your heart pleases. When the meals are ready, a waiter will bring your food to the table. The food is delicious! I ordered the kabob plate and my husband ordered the beef schwarma plate. I really liked my kabob - flavorful, moist, tender. My husband was ok with the beef schwarma - good flavor, but kind of dry. The meat were each accompanied by a Mediterranean cucumber salad, and hummus. The hummus had a little paprika(?) and drizzled with olive oil. Yummy! The portions are generous, I definitely had left overs. They also have a fountain drink area. They have a good variety of dessert selections at the register. Nice Ambiance - wooden tables, modern, plenty of space, and very clean. Customer service was ok. The only interaction was when you ordered and when they brought you the food. The guy at the front counter could a little more happier to work there.

Yelp
Visit and see for yourself. Great Mediterranean place! First and for most for the food, timely service, cleanliness. My favorite dish are the lamb chops in red wine sauce served with almond green beans and mashed potatoes. That dish I've shared with hubby or mom so we order hummus and tabouleh for starters. Nice, quiet place, spacious and perfect for meetings, family gathering, etc. My close to home go to Mediterranean restaurant.
google avatar

Misty A.

Yelp
For the cost I was expecting authentic Mediterranean food. I will not be returning. The food is not good, it had no flavor. The best thing was the pistacho cheesecake.
google avatar

Sara C.

Yelp
Spacious restaurant with decent Mediterranean food. Feels more like a Corner Bakery inside - kind of generic, but easy and clean. Food is ok, a tad salty at times, dry/bland at others. But portions are good.
google avatar

Jeremy R.

Yelp
Good food, nice restaurant, friendly staff. Lentil soup was very good, chicken kabobs were good, cucumber salad and rice were just ok. I had a cheesecake with some sort of puff pastry on top that was great!
google avatar

Laura C.

Yelp
Very delicious Mediterranean food here. The lamb chops were very tender and fries were fresh. Will be returning in the future!

Lusell M.

Yelp
Friendly staff, great food. The baked potatoes, friend catfish and the gyros are delish!
google avatar

Sims B.

Yelp
Nice neighborhood restaurant with tasty Mediterranean dishes. Order from the front and the food is delivered to your table. Authentic and well worth the visit!

Ray C.

Yelp
One of the better restaurants in the Sugar Land area. Great gyros, burgers, kabobs and salads. Very clean and great value.
google avatar

Lilly A.

Yelp
I really underestimated how good the food was going to be here. I had the Gyro Specialty Plate and it was delicious. The meat was super tender and juicy. It came with a Mediterranean salad and humus. I got it to go because work but they packed it so your food doesn't mix and provides extra garlic sauce plenty napkins and utensils. I like the fact they gave an extra sauce because it shows they aren't stingy and I also really liked the sauce lol. The hummus and salad both taste fresh. They gave ALOT of hummus. Over all great food, looks clean and nice. Definitely coming back. P.S. they do have WiFi... the password is "redoakgrill" all lower case. You're welcome.
google avatar

Claudia A.

Yelp
Nice atmosphere and I had a gyro which was a bit salty for my liking. The spinach dip is yummy!

Yelp
The Red Oak Grill has opened a second location and has brought the interior design up a notch. This location is really quite beautiful. For a counter service diner, the interior is great. The stone work columns and walls along with the interesting lighting is great. The service is friendly and everyone smiles and greets you. If only that warm greeting translated into delicious food. We went during peak dinner hours (7pm) tonight and found a few tables occupied. The place isn't super busy, but that's to be expected in a slightly hidden location (next to the Goodwill store) and in a new strip mall. We ordered and our food was quick to come out. I ordered the BBQ bliss chicken sandwich with a side of sweet potato fries. The sandwich was greasy. It would have had a decent flavor if it wasn't so greasy. My husband had the gyro which was also greasy and the meat was sliced too thin. We really want to like this place but no such luck. The place is lovely, clean, and new. When someone came by to start clearing the plates, he asked how everything had been. I tried to tell him it was too greasy (hoping to give some constructive criticism) but I don't think he understood me and he just smiled. Oh well, I tried. We may give them another try in a few months, and we hope that they will have reduced the grease levels. They have potential, they just aren't there yet.

Yelp
It was alright, I had the grilled salmon plate... it kinda looked like cafeteria food... I don't understand why people come here. The flavor is... --- wait where is the flavor? Where'd it go?‍ The staff look upset, not very welcoming they just seem to mean mug me, my boyfriend and his dad while we were ordering. They are pricey, might as well as go to Demurs. Tasty.
google avatar

Edwardo D.

Yelp
1st time here with my son. Inside is big, nice, and clean. Nice selection of food. Decent price. My chicken picata was a little on the thin side. My son enjoyed his strips. The chocolate chip cookies were stale. And I would like to go there more often.

Brian M.

Yelp
The food was tasty and the service was good. The only downfall is the food was a little on the greasy side. I will go back.
google avatar

Tom S.

Yelp
Fantastic spot for gyros and Shawarma. I have yet to explore the rest of the menu because I love the gyros so much. Fries are also fantastic. But they seem a little understaffed on my last visit. Seems like one person was having to take care of everything. Nonetheless I still recommend this place for a delicious Mediterranean meal

Christelle L.

Yelp
Great Arabic food, service and ambiance are great. Always fast and friendly. I enjoy the different types of food on the menu
google avatar

Mary S.

Yelp
Too a chance while in the area for business. It was off prime hours so it wasn't crowded but the guy behind the counter was friendly and helpful. Restaurant was clean, with a nice atmosphere. I had the falafel plate (gluten free) and it was great. Picture of the HUGH hamburger my husband ordered. He at the whole thing but was miserable! LOL... It was good so he didn't mind being over stuffed. Would go back if in the area.

D Y.

Yelp
One of the best chicken come by will taste in sugar land area. I would recommend this restaurant.
google avatar

Jimmy G.

Yelp
Excellent food! I got the beef shawarma plate that was a good portion and well cooked. Staff was great too!
google avatar

Nakeisha B.

Yelp
I wasn't impressed. I got the beef shawarma and the beef was meh. It was super tough barely eatable.

Yelp
The service was excellent! food is average,I think businesses should make more special dishes
google avatar

Jeri T.

Yelp
I stopped in here for a quick lunch before headed to my work location. I'm in town in business and always like to try new places. The counter service was quick. I didn't see the combination of foods I wanted but the owner (?) quickly explained my options. I got a gyro plate and substituted a Greek salad for the tabbouleh. The food came out quickly and was delicious. Atmosphere was nice and quiet before the place filled up with patrons. Definitely a go-back location.
google avatar

Marilyn L.

Yelp
Wow, we've been a couple times recently and I feel like the food has really improved since we were last here 5 years ago (can't believe it's been that long!), so I wanted to update my review. The double meat Texas hamburger is huge and so good! The meat was cooked perfectly and so flavorful. Everything about the gyro plate was also so delicious (but especially the tender meat!) - very different from 5 years ago! I'm so glad we went back - and we'll probably be back more now!

Yelp
My wife and I were looking for something different from what we normally eat, and so we decided to give Red Oak a try. We were expecting only Mediterranean food, but were surprised that they served both Mediterranean and trademark American foods. From juicy burgers to salads to Falafel, they had a nice selection just to please everyone. After coming here, we were surprised that we didn't try this place sooner. The decor was very modern, having stylish hanging lights to contemporary wooden tables, and a really nice wine rack behind the counter. Similar to Ruggles Green, you get a menu and order at the counter. I tried their lunch special for the day- Chicken Shawarma with hummus and Tabouleh. This was also recommended by the guy behind the counter, who said it was one of his favorites. I can see why- the chicken was moist, soft, and flavorful. It paired well with the Tabouleh and garlic hummus. Hummus was good, but the one at Fadi's was better. My wife tried the vegetarian platter with Falafel and Mediterranean salad , and this hit the sweet spot. She particularly enjoyed the salad, with cucumbers and tomatoes mixed together. Very healthy and also tasty too. We were pleasantly full and will definitely make this a local hangout spot -plus the children's meal comes with a side, drink, and cookie, which will be a big hit with my chocolate loving kiddos. Next time we hope to try the kabobs. Stay tuned!
google avatar

Tammi D.

Yelp
I really enjoyed the food. Ordered the Gyro plate and some Kibbie. Would have probably given a 5 star but didn't get the hummus and tabouli that comes with the meal. I was disappointed as the rest of the food was excellent and I'm sure that would have been as well if it would have been delivered with the meal.
google avatar

Zepheena H.

Yelp
Okay so when I first walked in I thought this would be one of those Mediterranean places which wouldn't be authentic Mediterranean food. But dang they got it going yo! I ordered the Shawarma wrap with fries. It's was soo freaking good. And it was a good size. AND THEIR GARLIC SAUCE IS THE BEST I'VE HAD HERE!! it's so good.!! My husband got a kabob plate which was also good. Overall this place is awesome! Definitely recommend it!
google avatar

Tiffany C.

Yelp
"Where is that fried catfish or cheesesteak?" "Why are there gyros and every possible kabob?" "Oh, we're at the wrong restaurant..." I actually came here on accident after getting it confused with Live Oak Grill. Not much of a problem though since I would consider Red Oak Grill more of an American restaurant than Mediterranean. More than half their menu is burgers, sandwiches, and baked potatoes. I've also never seen a place offer so many different kinds of chicken sandwiches. I'm pretty confident they even beat out Chick-Fil-A. The restaurant itself looks new and clean, but feels empty and lacks any warmth. I tried the Greek Salad w/ Gyro. The salad itself was fresh but the meat was really greasy and cut too thin.
google avatar

Lisa A.

Yelp
I have had several dishes here. The gyro, shawarma, salads, burgers, etc..but by far my favorite dish so far was the beef kabobs. They were very flavorful and I dipped them in their garlic sauce. The Mediterranean salad on the side was also very good and instead of rice I had a house salad. Very filling and very healthy. We've also had our work Christmas party here a few times. This place also holds a very special place in my heart because I organize a charity event at work every year, and Red Oak always donates a little something. Even after they changed management, I explained what was going on and I told them what they usually donate, and they had no problem helping me out!
