I went here and the food was absolutely incredible, super sizzling hot and super tasty. My server Connor, was amazing and I couldn’t ask for anyone better to be taking my order. The manager even came up and asked if everything was ok and I assured him everything was great. I really recommend this place and this place has to easily be my favorite diner!

Marzlyn P.

Google
Food was tasty and delicious. Menu had many selections with breakfast served all day. Serving size is generous. There is small salad bar with fresh soup. The waitress was pleasant and kind. The only complaint I had was they put too much oil on the stir fry.

Google
The diner is really cozy & lots of space to sit. The staff is friendly & the food is good. We’ve stopped by for breakfast or to grab something for lunch. It’s usually busy so they do great business. Even when we stop for lunch we get breakfast food & how much harm can you do to breakfast food. The eggs are usually cooked to our liking, the French fries are great. They have an open sandwich for roast beef with gravy but I’d like to see if I could get that on a roll. Here in NY I get a sandwich of roast beef with gravy on a roll & I love it. It’s great to stop here for a bite & relax talking while you eat. They have good muffins. I bought a blueberry & got mom a chocolate chip. Unfortunately no photos.

Google
Great place for breakfast all day! Waitresses are very nice. Food was good except the last time I was in the home fries were inedible. We came in about an hour before closing. The potatoes seemed like they were just the leftover stuff scraped into the corner of the grille and sat there all day. They should be crispy on the bottom and top, with soft potatoes in the middle. These were rock solid and it was just a bunch of chunks that seemed like grill scrapings. They were completely inedible. I didn't complain. Just didn't eat them. I'm hopeful I don't have the same experience next time

Google
Just had a great meal at this place. I’ve never been there before. The 3 of us all enjoyed our food and the server was great. Also the place was very clean. We will be back real soon.

Kristin W.

Google
My server was excellent. I waited for awhile for anyone to acknowledge me when I walked in to be seated. The food came out luke warm and mediocre at best. The mixed vegetables were not edible. They were water logged and cold. Two employees came into the restaurant while I was eating my meal with my son. They were at and behind the counter chit chatting and cursing and one of the boys leaned over and loudly spit into a trashcan in front of the dining customers.

Google
The only reason I am not leaving five stars is because the food could be better, though it is by no means bad! The staff are very friendly and helped me kill two hours while I waited for my car to be tinted. Good atmosphere overall!

Kevin B.

Google
I haven't been there for a long time even though I don't too far. Glad I went back. I had pancakes and they were very good. Good service didn't seem like a long wait for our food either.

Yelp
Recently, dined here on a weekday evening. The stuffed cabbage and sauce was somewhat tired looking while still being average tasting. The fried eggplant looked like it was perfectly fried, but once I cut into it, the breading separated from the eggplant and I had a mess on my plate. The salad bar didn't look too appealing but I still managed to make a decent salad. I enjoyed the soup as it's on the salad bar. Service was good.

Yelp
Met up with an old friend from out of town and we were in the area looking for something to eat when we came across this establishment. We entered the diner and we're quickly greeted and seated and our drink order was taken. In typical diner fashion, they offer a variety of items on their menu including lunch specials. My friend ordered a burger and I ordered a gyro. The lunch special includes soup, which the waitress had to go find out what the soups of the day were. Also, the waitress was not aware as to whether the kitchen had hot peppers but then found out that they have pickled jalapenos in stock. I chose to go with the clam chowder for my soup and it came out in a bowl, not a cup, which I was pleased with however soup was not warm. Finally the gyro came out and had good flavor however I wish it had red onions and more tzaziki. I finished all my food and for a very modest price I thought it was a good deal. There is a parking lot and the interior is bright and has a classic diner layout. Everything was clean. I don't know if I will return here, not because of the food, because I have only ever been in that area like 3 times in my life. But if you want a quick meal and friendly service, stop in.

Yelp
Large tares on booth seating. Hand-made signs about the history of the failed fare prior owners. Average food & service. Greasy spoon let down.....

Yelp
We always dine at the Red Plate when we travel to visit family in the area. Our server is the same woman who is always so pleasant and on it! I really enjoyed the crab omelette. It's a cozy and comfortable place and we look forward to returning.

Yelp
Pretty darn good road side stop! I had French Onion soup. Delicious! Friendly staff that worked well together. And the Red Plate theme- means you are special! I'll be back!

Claudia T.

Yelp
The food is great. Our amazing server CC, was very attentive, and polite. The atmosphere is very comfortable. Will be coming back. CC was very professional.

Yelp
Food and service was excellent. We had to wait five minutes for a table since the place was full. We got our coffees right away and we ordered the Eggs Delmarva that consisted of two poached eggs atop an English muffin with fried crabmeat with hollandaise sauce and home fries.

Gavin M.

Yelp
Went here for the first time for breakfast. Was seated in a timely manner. Quick service but we were seated with one set of silverware. I got the hungry man breakfast which comes with French toast or pancakes, sausage or bacon, home fries, toast, and eggs. The food was ok, wasn't exceptional quality. Food came out ok but they missed some things from the platter and had to wait to eat as well because of the silverware. Then came the time for the bill, when I was asked what kind of toast I wanted, I was not made aware that rye toast is $1 extra. As well as if you want peppers and onions on the home fries. This is unacceptable. When you ask someone if they want things with their meal, it would be nice to know that it's extra and get to decide if you still want it or not. They also charged $3.75 for a small thing of orange juice and called it large. If you are looking for a diner, move on, let me recommend the 61 diner or the Hearth diner. Definitely not impressed by this place.

Yelp
Good food, friendly staff. It's the usual diner fare. Only wish they were open later.

Enmanuel C.

Yelp
Best and Delicious Breakfast everyday, Fast Service with plenty of smile, Good Familiar Ambiance as well.

Jessica J.

Yelp
Nastiest diner I've ever been too, food is cold, mold all over the salad bar like it hasn't been cleaned in 4 years, my table was dirty as all get out, there was no one in the restaurant and it took them 15 to get me a table. If I could give -0 stars I would.

Consuelo T.

Yelp
Ordered "the Delmarva Breakfast..crab cake was RAW..it was literally uncooked crab paste...smeared on English muffin, hidden under poached eggs and hollandaise sauce, I let the waitress know, and I showed it to her, she took it back to the kitchen, and it came back still uncooked. I left it at the end of the table. The waitress did not charge for it. I felt like it was dangerous to eat.. I will stick to something simple like bacon and eggs when I go there. My friend had an omelette and it was as flat as an envelope, there was no fluff or softness to it. She said it didn't taste that good either. The waitress was nice though.

Yelp
12/23/2017 - Very modern diner! We came in for breakfast and were pleasantly surprised by all the variety of food options, especially the healthy fare. You will see organic sprouted whole grain or gluten free, EVOO, Harvest Nut & Grain Pancakes, Organic Eggs, Organic Bacon, Organic Fruit, Organic Jam, Vegan sandwiches, and Korean Quinoa Salad just to include a few. We ordered the Western Three Egg Omelette- tri color peppers, caramelized onions, and diced ham with a side of seasoned vegetables and Rye Toast. Also, a Garden Three Egg Omelette- fresh spinach, portabella mushrooms, caramelized onions, roasted red peppers, green pepper, diced tomatoes with a side of hash browns and wheat toast. We also ordered a side of turkey sausage. Everything was fresh and delicious. Nothing was greasy or buttery. The service was top-notch. Once finished, you take your receipt and pay at the front. While I was standing there, I noticed the beautiful front door more in detail. The lady said, it was shipped from California and they were very happy with it. It definitely has that wow factor. Best of all...Red Plate Diner is family-owned and operated. Plus, they are OPEN all year round. SUPPORT YOUR LOCAL BUSINESS!

Yelp
The food was excellent. The cleanest place we've ever eaten. Service was excellent. Brought my 90 year old mother who grew up in Wernersville. So glad to see the diner is still going.

Yelp
So, I would come to this establishment quite a bit when it was under the old ownership. My family and I came here a few times a month, especially for breakfast. With that being said, I was truly excited to try it under new ownership. My husband and I came here for brunch on Sunday. Upon arriving, we came in and sort of stood there waiting for someone to acknowledge us. Eventually a young woman came over and sat us. A comment had been made that the front was way ahead so we should be sat in the back (such a warm welcoming). We were seated on the left side in a back corner and basically sat for about 5 minutes. Eventually a young server came over (thin, blonde, around 20ish). We asked for two iced teas, an orange juice and a coffee. The tea was odd tasting. My husband didn't love their coffee as he is an avid coffee drinker. My orange juice was gross and warm. It tasted like it came right out of a cafeteria carton. I wound up asking for ice once she came back. We ordered an eggs Benedict with a side of home fries. I ordered two eggs over easy, home fries and toast. Our food came in a timely manner. However, we sat for about 5-7 minutes because we were without silverware. Tip: have the silverware at the front and grab it as you seat the guests. Or put it at each place setting and take away the unneeded ones. Our server only came back after we were over halfway through our meal to ask us how it was. My eggs were cooked perfect. The home fries were about as unseasoned as you get and not overly hot. The toast was smothered in so much butter that I could only eat half of it. My husband said his eggs Benedict could have just even seasoned more. I understand this place wants to be a breakfast to dinner place. However, it's slightly disappointing to see the breakfast menu take a backseat. There are far less than options than before. Prices were reasonable given the portions. Overall, I was underwhelmed. I most likely will not return.

Jeannie W.

Yelp
Walked in 15 minutes after opening, plenty of seating. My partner was coming in 5 minutes and they wouldn't seat me until she arrived! However, when I said it was only me, they were suddenly able to seat me but have poor service. No signage or written policy anywhere on premises. As a visitor from another state, unheard of and very inhospitable.

Yelp
we are out of towners looking for a good place for some breakfast. gave these guys a shot and glad we did!! nice clean place, fast food service, and great food!

Yelp
I am here with my lovely mother in law and my wonderful husband for a late breakfast on a Sunday morning. The waitress told me that are making a special pancake with a thin slice of pumpkin pie in the middle, I knew I had to try it....it was yummy! I had them add the eggs and it made it a perfect breakfast for me....coffee was excellent as well. The place is packed and I love coming here. The owners and their daughter make you feel right at home.

Yelp
Awesome food! Love the cleanliness of the restaurant. I've experienced great service the times I've been here!

Yelp
As Diner's go, Red Plate does it right! The food is above average diner, the place is always clean, reasonably priced & the extremely friendly staff gets you in & out! There are also some menu surprises, like the avocado & egg bowl and the eggs Benedict specialties that can be compared to the best of restaurants! It's a great family owned place that cares about its customers, so give it a try!

Yelp
This is a diner with ambition. First and foremost, this place isn't open 24-hours. You can grab breakfast as early as 7:00 am and chow down on mozzarella sticks as late as 2:00 am. On Sundays, this place is open for breakfast only. During the day, the Red Plate offers expertly prepared diner classics paired with exceptional service. The omelets are certainly a standout. Ingredient-wise, they are the freshest I've had in a diner setting. On Friday and Saturday nights, the interior is converted to Niko's at Night. That's right - from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm on Saturday, this place closes down and undergoes a transformation. Once re-opened, patrons will find a completely new decor, menu, and atmosphere. You can even bring a bottle of wine (not sure if you can BYOB during regular diner hours - somehow I doubt you can bring beers in at 7:00 am). All I can say at this point is the Red Plate Diner makes a perfect destination for breakfast and lunch. The cooks obviously put care in their preparation, and the head chef and kitchen manager value fresh ingredients. There is a lot of love in this food, and it shows.

Nadia W.

Yelp
We had breakfast today. Our silverware was dirty, hair in my food... visible (good thing I've spot it right away). My husband order was mestup, causing overcharge almost $10. But the worst part - no apology, no discount on the bill and... oh they added 20% tips. My husband refused to pay the tip. I left hungry. My advice - stay away from this place!

Yelp
Best diner i have ever been to My review is specific to breakfast, as i have never had lunch/dinner there Red Plate is extremely clean and well kept Service was quite fast, and the waitresses are extremely nice The food is top notch; extremely good breakfast food I gave this a rare 5 outta 5!

Yelp
If you are looking for diner food, move along. There are plenty of diner type choices in Berks County. Red Plate "Diner" is not really a diner, at least not in the old school diner sense anyway. While this used to be an old school diner back in the day, the menu choices now are a little more "sophisticated" than traditional diner fare, or at least they are trying. Yes, you'll still find SOS and such, but the traditional method of making them is different. The SOS is sweeter than the norm, the "home fries" are more hashbrown like with rosemary seasoning. They are trying to cater to a trendier crowd with vegan choices and power proteins (quinoa and such). And with those trendier fares, come trendier prices (definitely not diner prices) where you probably won't make out less than $10-$12/person. Don't get me wrong, the food is very good. Just a little pricier and the portions may leave you still a bit hungry afterwards.

Deborah J B.

Yelp
Very good diner. We had breakfast there for the first time today. At 9:50 a.m. on a Sunday the place was packed and we had a 15 minute wait. When we left at 10:55 a.m. the place was even busier. I had my normal egg over medium, whit toast with extra butter, home fries extra crispy (and they were great), and bacon. The egg needed about one minute more of the grill, but other than that my food was fine. Hubby ordered the 3 egg meat lovers omelet and enjoyed it very much. Our server was pleasant and good and all the staff out front were very busy. She did check on us once to see if every thing was alright. . The bus boy impressed me the most. He was moving fast and never stopped. For a young man he is a very hard worker. In fact he was also the host and cashier when we paid our bill. You should give him a raise to make sure he stays. Not many young people that have a work ethic like he does. Two thumbs up to him. We are going to return, and try different things on their menu.

Felicia K.

Yelp
Our family of six enjoyed our meal at this spotless spot, but what stood out was the outstanding attention to detail, fun personality, and composure of our server, CC. She greeted us straight away, promptly brought drinks, engaged with our 5 year-old, asked clarifying questions to make sure our meal was just right, and handled everything in a professional manner. Thank you, CC!

Yelp
This place reopened recently with new ownership. We enjoyed our breakfast. Food & service was good. I asked for an egg white omelette & got one with yolks. Otherwise I'd give 5 stars.
google avatar

Cathy K.

Yelp
First of all the Red Plate Diner is open on Sundays -not sure why Yelp shows it as closed. Had a great garden omelette with nicely browned home fries and raisin bread on the side.coffee is good and the servers are friendly and efficient. One suggestion I would make is for the servers to bring napkins and silverware when coffee is ordered. Many times at least a napkin is required before food. We will definitely be back and I surely recommend this place for breakfast.

Sara G.

Yelp
fastest service I have had in a while. food was hot and yummy. service was great as well. all around good breakfast

David K.

Yelp
I was pleasantly surprised by this diner. Very nice, competent waitress. The food was tasty. My wife had a cheeseburger and the French onion soup, and I had a BLT and the French onion too. The booths were comfortable, and everything was clean. I think the new ownership is doing a great job.

Miss T.

Yelp
The service is great when the right team is working. The food is always delicious however a couple of times I've found hair in my food. I didn't say anything because I didn't want my friends to be grossed out. I took my family there for dinner last week since my cousin had never been there. The servers got some of our orders wrong and my salad had not one but two stumps in it. I'm not sure how one lettuce stump ends up in a customer's salad much less two. It almost seems like it was done on purpose. We got there about an hour before closing and they took a while to serve us. A worker started putting the chairs upside down on top of the tables before the last 3 tables of customers had finished eating That's unprofessional. The diner closes at 8 pm so don't start putting up chairs at 7:45. We left at 7:55. I wanted to leave a more positive review but I hope this honest assessment will inspire them to improve.

Christine F.

Yelp
Wow! Just wow!!! We were in the area for haircuts and the kids got hungry. Never been here before but that's going to change! We had fabulous service in this impeccably clean place! And the food was real homemade deliciousness! No shortcuts here..everything was fresh!! Definitely will be back on a regular basis! Great prices as well!

Yelp
Awesome diner! Was in the area and yelped a diner location & this gem popped up....Had the berry pancakes with whip cream, strawberries and blueberries. Clean business and the staff members were so pleasant. The waitress asked if it was my birthday because I would get a free meal on their red plate. Very informative and extra nice

Melanie M.

Yelp
Could be just a bad day... but I didn't even order I sat down and it smelled like poop like literally human Feces. I order a coffee and had to get up an leave I couldn't take the smell anymore ... I'm hoping it was just a customer in there that day but that's my first impression Hey guys ... it's me again an hour after incident... this might smell like home to you, but it does not smell like home to me. I'm at a different establishment now and it smells a lot better now .... I had to hold my head out the window to breath air again... my friend is recovered as well . I'll send my favorite plumber number Take care, smell fresh please

Susan F.

Yelp
I live this little diner. The waitresses are really nice. The food is good and the prices are reasonable. I have eaten there several times for lunch and they are consistent with quality.

Al F.

Yelp
Great food. Great service. One of the places I go to fro breakfast. Haven't tried them for. Lunch or dinner but I will soon only flaw is where you pay. Always a cluster

Maggie D.

Yelp
I am a pescatarian and sometimes I find it difficult to find some variety to what I want to eat; but I have to say that Red Plate has a fantastic Reuben sandwich that I absolutely love to get when I'm there. I like that they serve breakfast all day long too unlike some other places! Their staff is pleasant.

Yelp
While camping in the area this was the first breakfast joint we came upon. Wanting cheap eats we should have checked Yelp before sitting down - this place is anything but. First impressions were that of a New Jersey dinner from the dramatic entrance decor and overall styling. Place was spotless and everything appeared new. Service was very friendly. The owners must have NJ or NY roots as I have never seen brocculi rabe on a PA menu but saw it here. The menu featured a variety of items - standard fare and a few organics. There were a few things that were different that caught my eye but was quickly deterred by the price. By the time we sat down and put in a coffee order we felt it was "too late" to leave but stayed despite the pricing. For example: an order of eggs, toast, homefries and bacon was $7 + change without drink and that was the "cheaper" breakfast - most were in the $10-$12.99 range. While I did think service was fast our meals were not exceptional. I honestly expected more flavor from "seasoned" home fries but they were the typical bland variety everyone serves. Thank goodness I asked for sauted onions as well but it did very little to elevate the flavor. With tip we spent $30 and left hungry. Still regretting that we stopped here. On a side note: trek a few miles up the road and hit up the Farmers Market at Berkshire Crossing - for lunch we got (2) meals consisting of 2 sides + a heaping helping of a meat each, all homemade for half of what we paid for this breakfast! AND they serve breakfast too!

Beth R.

Yelp
I had eaten here about a year ago and the food was great, I was anxious to eat here again. This time, my experience was terrible. I ordered broiled scallops; half had a foul odor and taste. I sent them back, was told that the cook said that they were not bad and I was not offered a replacement or something off of my check. Also became ill that afternoon. I wonder where the cook came from and what, if any experience he has. I will never eat here again.

Yelp
My favorite breakfast spot...feels like familyDelicious food and great service....try the pumpkin pancakes!
google avatar

David A.

Yelp
Their home fries taste like heaven. Overall, the food was pretty good. I got a kind of combo platter that had a sampling of meats, eggs, and potatoes. Everything was good except the sausage patty, which was the typical kind you'd find on a breakfast sandwich elsewhere. They should switch to links or something like Bob Evans/Jimmy Dean's rolled sausage for that. But the potatoes... So. Good. Downside is that they are 1.5-3x as expensive as most other places. I'd call them an occasional treat rather than a daily diner. Most platters are in the $9 range, and they did not seem to have a discounted "special" like most places have.
google avatar

Tom W.

Yelp
I have eaten here a couple of times when in the area and the food is always good. It is usually an EARLY AM stop right when they open. My last stop about a week ago I was already in the lot before opening with a small 12' small trailer. (the only vehicle there) I parked along the side and happened to take up 3 spaces. When the doors opened and we went to go in I was asked if I could move to the "rocky adjacent lot" next to theirs so I didn't take up "so many spaces". Normally, I wouldn't have a problem with it, but it was right as the diner opened and I guess the other 50 empty spaces weren't enough for 7am. Personally I think is was the 2nd car to pull in with the old man and his newspaper that had the issue and complained, because we probably were in "his space". I guess the local regulars get their choice over other paying customers. That aside, the food is always good and quick. I guess I just need to show my face on a more regular basis for my "personal parking spot" next time LOL BTW, when I left there was a whopping 8 cars in the lot, but I was over on the rocks
google avatar

Brian Z.

Yelp
This place is pretty good. The parents and I were there for breakfast on a Saturday morning around 9 and didn't have to wait. I've been there for breakfast a little later, closer to lunch time, and there was a 10 minute or so wait. No big deal. Omelette choices are a little above average with the choices of ingredients. Home fries are never overdone... Big plus. Service was good, not intrusive. Remember this is a diner and not a Michelin rated restaurant and you won't be disappointed. Only real complaint is the overpowering air conditioning in the diner side. They should try to deflect it a bit.
google avatar

Joe T.

Yelp
Sitting waiting for a table. There are a crap load of open tables and at least 12 to 14 people waiting. Guess they don't want to break up tables for 6 for couples Went back today for breakfast, they seated us right away, not very busy for a Sunday morning. Waitress was very friendly, menu changed a bit and prices went up a bit. Ordered two eggs over easy, corned beef hash and bacon, came with home fries. Wife ordered scrambled eggs with home fries and toast. Meal was okay hash was a bit greasy but otherwise it was an improvement from 10 months ago.

Yelp
I LOVE the Red Plate Diner! Yes, the food is very good and unusually creative for the area. I love the curry chicken salad and the quinoa salad. But even more importantly, the waitresses practice the art of kindness and relationship building in such a lovely way! If you go there more than once -- which many do -- they remember you, what you like to eat, what's going on in your life. There is a decorative plate that says "You are Special Today", and that's genuinely how they make you feel.
google avatar

Elizabeth S.

Yelp
I guess my late night shenanigans as a young woman left me with a love for an old greasy spoon diner. My 18 year old daughter however, not having experienced those parts of life yet, holds up her nose at most local diners because of their apparent lack of sparkle and shine. I have passed the Red Plate Diner many times but never gave it much thought. When wanting to eat out for breakfast this morning, we decided to give it a try. It is truly sparkling clean and pretty like they advertise it to be. The food was fresh and great quality. I had the Crab and Corn Fritter Benedict and my daughter the All City Omelet. Both were delicious. It is a bit pricey, for 2 adults and 2 children our bill was $45. And the service was a bit slow. I would not have minded the slower pace though if I hadn't been with young children. All in all, it is a nice alternative to the local greasy spoons with a nice selection of fresh food options, including farm to table and organic.

Yelp
Best eggs Benedict with their homemade corn beef hash will definitely be back clean and everyone is very nice especially Chris the owner the owner
google avatar

Mindy C.

Yelp
Beautiful old stainless diner, sparkling clean. That is the only praise I can give the place. The food is terrible, even breakfast! I can accept lousy in a diner if is open 24/7 but this place is open for breakfast and lunch only. Not worth the visit.

Yelp
Horrible customer service. Waited 45 minutes to get our food which was eggs, toast, scrapple, home fries and my mom got bacon. Food was mediocre. And it was too hot. Severely Burned my tongue on the food. And didn't even eat it all cause it was so bland. They serve too much food. Do not eat here if you want to save your time and money. Twenty dollars for bacon and two eggs with scrapple.
