Waitstaff was very courteous and came to us right away. Got drinks and food quickly and everything was delicious. Probably has live music at night and I bet the place is packed. Found out they do breakfast also. It's a new favorite of mine.

Google
My husband and I visited Red Rock while staying in Hartford and loved everything it had to offer. The staff was super friendly, we even met the current and previous owner and received free drinks for striking up conversation. Visit on a Monday and get one of their build-your-own grinders for $6! Such a steal. Food was amazing, staff was friendly, and the atmosphere was definitely top notch. If you're looking for a great locally owned Italian restaurant/bar, this is the place. We would 100% come back.

Google
It's fine, but not a must try. The food and drinks are very expensive for what they are ($20 for a small deli meat turkey club and fries). The staff are very friendly and the tavern itself has a very old school authentic wooden tavern feel. The music that was being played over the speakers was incredibly loud (to the point you couldn't hear across a small table).

Google
What a cool find while on a road trip! Great staff!! The food was great and we enjoyed the atmosphere as local patrons arrived after their rugby games. They are very accommodating to people that have dogs with them.

The food is very good and my sever (Maleka?) was excellent. It’s in a very nice location that’s not congested on weekend and not far from capital area. It was peaceful and not crowded but I’m sure it will be later in evening. I ordered the eggplant fries ($10) as appetizer and wanted to order another serving because they were delicious. I had the special (A-1 Burger $12) and it was very tasty. The prices are very reasonable. They have a dinner menu but served after 5pm. I highly recommend dining at this establishment if in area. And I love the flowers that are planted near door, they make it very inviting!

Google
Recently had a wonderful experience with Red Rock Tavern. Lynette was an incredible server and truly made us feel like she cared about us. We had an unusual request and it would have been easy (and justified) for her to say no, but she made it happen for us. The food was great, the atmosphere was fun, and the service was exceptional. Lynette gave 210%. We love her.

Google
red rock is one of my favorite places to go. before finding out i was allergic to gluten and dairy i went there multiple times a week for my lunch or dinner. their chicken cutlet is to die for. get a grinder and you’ll be a very happy person. i am incredibly grateful that i can still go there because they have a good variety of gluten free and dairy free options. you go because you’re hungry but you stay, and keep coming back, because you become a part of the family there.

Google
Lynette was the best server ever! We wanted to stop and eat but only had 20 mins because we were on a tight schedule. We called ahead and asked if we could put our order in over the phone for dine-in so it would be ready when we arrived. Lynette made it happen! She was so nice and on top of everything. She’s the greatest server of all time! We love Lynette and red rock tavern!

Yelp
Sunday brunch was great! The DJ (Shawn (sp)) amazing! The vibe was everything! The food delicious! Qiyaa amazing bartender super friendly and made fabulous drinks! The do bottomless mimosas for $25 but they are premade so initially I opted for that but the pitchers can sit around so bubbles get flat. I ended up just purchasing a bottle of the Wycliff and it' has a screw top so you can take it home if you don't finish. Honestly it was only $5 more than bottomless, you can poor it yourself and they can provide a side of juice if needed. I personally think it's better than doing the bottomless. Will come again!

Yelp
Red Rock Tavern was the perfect place to have a team dinner for our 16u softball team. I was able to select catering menu items they set up a buffet and let the 25 of us have the patio on a Wed evening from 7-9. The staff was wonderful, genuine , and accommodating ! The food was delicious from the wings to the chicken parm. Thank you for a seamless night ! Our girls were happy with the Italian American fare and the patio was lovely in the evening !

Yelp
The salads here are great and I'm a big fan of the chicken caesar particularly. It comes in a tortilla bowl that's perfectly cooked and complements the salad really well. I'm not even exaggerating when I say writing this review is making me crave one! The lettuce is always crisp and everything isn't drenched in dressing either. The service is okay. I always wish it were a bit more attentive but it's not awful. Their bathroom could use some attention. I feel like every time I've used it, it's been really messy which I'm not a fan of. It's pretty divey. The patio is nice though! Definitely sit out there while you can.

Yelp
I came out to Red Rock Tavern with a friend for late night chats and drinks. I have ordered from this establishment before however I've never dined in, so this was a new experience for me. The patio was filled with people and they had music playing for the vide. The bar was filled with people as well so it's not all hush hush. Since we knew we weren't staying long, we ordered a couple drinks and nachos. I'm glad we were able to customize it the way we wanted and it made the perfect late night snack. Our server was super attentive and we enjoyed having laughs with her. Thank you for a great visit!

Yelp
Service was a little slow but I think they were running short staffed. All the outside tables were full and there was an event. Waitress said it was actually slow to average. Food was good. Though I was surprised that's the Gorgonzola burger was spicy. Didn't expect that but I enjoyed it. Juicy and flavorful. Cajun fries were good but salty. This is a solid bar and grill. Not to of the pack but by no means bad.

Yelp
Consider this review to be more of a 3.5 than a 3. Only reason it isn't 4 stars is because I think the interior could use some love. Thankfully everything else makes up for how it looks though. Walking in you immediately get that local tavern feel; like everyone knows each others name. Not the kind of place I would normally go but the happy hour prices were too enticing. Heaping pile of "nachos" with an amazing house made thousand island for only $6? Yes please. Mini pitchers of beer that give you at least 2.5 glasses full for only $6-$7?? How can I refuse. Service was great. Everyone was very attentive when they weren't busy chatting and hanging out with the regulars. Not saying it like it's a bad thing - you can tell people visit this place often. And I can't blame them! I wouldn't necessarily bring my wife here but it's a great place to grab some food and beer before going out or maybe a good place to visit at the end of your night. There's street parking available but if you see the gates open in the lot diagonal to the tavern you can park very easily for free there and it's a close walk across the street to get back. Recommend coming here for happy hour w the guys, I know I'll be back!

Yelp
We recently used Red Rock to cater our wedding dinner in Hartford! Food was DELICIOUS, huge portions, seasoned great. Amazing salad. They even went out and got ice for us because we weren't able to find any that day! They were kind and helpful every step of the way! Thanks Donny and everyone at Red Rock Tavern!

Renae J.

Yelp
Great spot that feels really homey and the staff is great! I find them to be very accommodating and take a lot of care in what they do. Excellent wings the food is always really tasty plus they have $6 grinders on Mondays and Tuesdays. Can't beat that. They a space where people host parties and on Sundays I believe they have a brunch that gets a sizeable crowd.

Yelp
What drew me to this location was the gluten free options on the menu. Unfortunately we did not end up eating because the waitress brought us our drinks but then never took a food order or came back over until our drinks were done. That being said, the drink I had was absolutely delicious. The atmosphere was friendly. They had a bit of a dive bar vibe which I always appreciate.

Yelp
This was a big miss. Bread was old, chicken was so thin it was like Lampoons Christmas Vacation turkey, it was just crunch. The photo shows how it just disintegrated. Tried to skip the bread and eat the chicken but no, trashed. Cheese was cold and hardened to the bread.

Yelp
This tavern had amazing food, music and service. It's rare to find Bottomless Brunch with a DJ! Loved the vibes the entire time, 10/10 Highly Recommend.

Yelp
The salad I had was amazing. The service was very nice and warm. I was loving the outdoor seating and ambiance.

Yelp
Being from Massachusetts this is our go-to dinner place in Hartford. Food is great, huge portions, reasonable prices. Local neighborhood tavern feel, good draft beer selection. Our regular stop after a show at the Bushnell!

Yelp
I had my rehearsal dinner there.. buffet style... I was running late and wanted to set up my flowers... they immediately recognized I was running late, took my centerpieces and said "go" I will set up... needless to say, when my guests arrived they were blown away... the tables were set with linens, even accented with black (colors of my wedding) and the florals were exactly where I wanted them... they were extremely welcoming .. the food.... PHENOMENAL!! Penne a la vodka is seasoned to perfection... green beans!! Fresh and roasted to absolute deliciousness... then the chicken parm!!! My guests were raving about it... Ceaser salad and home made dressing was fantastic... such fresh, well seasoned food and a fantastic welcoming atmosphere.... Also big shout out to Chelsey (hope I spelled it correctly) the owner even comped us on the beverages... they went above and beyond and we enjoyed every minute... from the bar staff, to the wait staff to the owners.. to the food!! All top notch.. highly Recommend.... I wish I lived closer, I'd be there every other day.... Thank you again for a wonderful day.... Ps!! My son is autistic with a food aversion, when I asked for a small bowl of Mac and cheese they were more than accommodating with his request... hands down excellent service.

Yelp
Another great visit to Red Rock last night with my son and one of his friends. Bartenders Su and Carmen were great.

Yelp
I visited Red Rock Tavern for the first time because RRT is one of 13 honorees for CT Yelp's Nachovember. I also ordered the Dry Rub Wings. The $5 Nachovember special consisted of smaller than average fresh made triangular nachos chips, with melted cheddar and Jack cheese, black olives, pickled jalapeños, shredded lettuce, chopped tomatoes, sour cream and salsa on the side. Great yellow, red, green, black and white colors. Nice bursts of acidity and fresh flavors. HUGE portion for $5. But for the Nachovember showcase deal, I would have ordered the nachos with beef as well, but these nachos were still very good. The wings were also very good. The dry rub had a southwest or Cajun vibe. The wings were juicy and meaty and I liked the outside seasoning. Brining or some similar process would have taken the wings next level. The Tavern had a classic, but updated feel. Service was friendly and welcoming. I would definitely return to check out more of the menu. Four Stars

Yelp
(Last visited 12/13/2020.) It's the weekend and we've heard some decent things about Red Rock Tavern's bottomless brunches so we had to give them a try! Here's how it went... Atmosphere/Appearance: Right on the corner of Capitol Avenue and Lawrence Street is this gem. There isn't much of a parking lot that I can remember, but there is plenty of street parking if you can find a spot. Once inside the exposed interior brick walls and worn wooden floors certainly add to the tavern feel. There really isn't much to this place, but the atmosphere was AWESOME as soon as the DJ got there and started playing some music! It was hype! Service: Decent. We were sat right next to the bar (prime real estate) and whenever our cups got low they were refilled. The mimosas were a bit too orangey even though we asked numerous times for less orange juice each round. Oh well. I guess they have rules to abide by. Other than that things were straight. Food: For my brunch entrée I went with Red's Rockin' Wings. You get a choice of 9 sauces and I chose Hot & Sweet hoping to get a big of spice with a sweet finish. They were okay. They were a bit dry, a little on the small side and simply okay. I wouldn't get them again and I'd try something else. Value: $25.00 will get you endless mimosas with orange juice, pineapple juice, white cranberry juice, or pomegranate juice. Excellent choices and you can continuously switch between the varieties. My wings are $12.00 for 10 and that wasn't bad at all. In conclusion, I loved the atmosphere and energy of this place, but the food wasn't the best in my opinion. Yelp
A great vibe run by great people serving great food! The best Grinder deal in town on Monday and Tuesday. $6 for a quality sub is hard to beat. I recommend the Chicken Caesar Grinder- comes with fresh chicken cutlets on a garlic bread roll. Yum

Yelp
Authentic and awesome. What a great place in Hartford. Great food and drinks, reasonable prices. But the people behind, and in front of the bar, and the tables, are so friendly and fun. Highly recommend. Nice outdoor patio and easy parking.

Ciara R.

Yelp
service was bad i been waiting nearly 2 hours and there was a table empty and nobody cleaned it and i asked multiple times. Plus i ordered my drinks and the server forgot. So i asked again and there was still no drinks on the table .

Doris P.

Yelp
Terelle was amazing! Very attentive, prompt & professional service and the food was absolutely amazing! ima it was my mom first time and she's extremely picky but she absolutely loved everything including the portions of the wine! We'll def be back!

Yelp
Saturday was our second time at red rock tavern and let me tell you they don't disappoint The food on both occasions was excellent. It really comes out fast. Customer service was by far the best in any restaurant, we had a Mae server he could not or been any more friendly. We went this last Saturday not only was he serving inside but out side. He managed to stop by a few times making sure everything was ok. The food is great, no more expensive than any other. We eat out twice a week and this is becoming one of our favorites I would recommend it to anyone

Yelp
I have been coming to Red Rock Tavern for years and today I had the best lunch. I have had their nachos several times, but today I ordered their Roast Beef Grinder and it was amazing! Nice and pink, fresh bread, lettuce, onion, mayo and with onion rings. It was exactly what I was craving and it came out perfect. Staff here is always top notch. The atmosphere is great too. I actually ran into my mailman here today. Too funny! Definitely check out the amazing nachos here. You can find parking in the lot across the street as long as the gate is up. When it's warmer, check out the patio and if it's a Sunday- Hip Hop Brunch has always been a fun time. Looking forward to visiting again soon and bringing some friends and hanging at the bar. Also, I've seen some great music at Red Rock Tavern. Specifically- Latanya Farrell comes to mind. She used to play on the first Thursday of every month. If she comes back- don't miss her!

Yelp
Oh my... charcuterie board are all the rage now of days. And Red Rock tavern knows how to make them! I have only ordered the board from here but 100% 5 stars service from placing the order to pick up! They listened to my needs and I was satisfied. I cant wait to come and sit down to eat off the menu! Parking is tricky right now due to construction. But that won't last forever. . I ordered one for 3 people and we had plenty of meats, cheeses, crackers, sweets. The spinach dip was amazing!!!! Well packaged and kept well for travel all the up to NH.

Yelp
This is a great bar to start your night out. Very laid back and excellent fall drink options! The drinks are not super strong so great way to start the night and bar hop across Hartford. I had a blast! I'd recommend eating before coming so you're not disappointed. Customer service was not too bad. 4/5.

Yelp
"When you run to the Rocks, the Rocks will be melting" Downpressor Man (Sinead O'Connor) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HDhH9-qhEEk When you go to the Red Rock Tavern on the first Thursday of the month, be prepared for some major meltage when Latanya Farrelll and the Bookman Styles Band take the stage at around 7:00. She dazzles with a high energy soulful show and can belt the tunes out with the best of them. She sang a lot of originals, and some covers. She said one cover was an old Etta James song, but I recognized it as an Eric Clapton song. Seven of us met at Red Rocks last night for dinner and to take in her show. We ate outside on the patio and had a real nice experience with the meal and the service. The menu is pretty ambitious, and very reasonably priced. It has lots of bar-type appetizers, plus sandwiches, wraps, salads, burgers and traditional dinner entrees. I ordered some Boneless Wings with General Tso's sauce ($10) and they were pretty good. They would have been better if they came out earlier, with the rest of the appetizers the table ordered for sharing. I also ordered a turkey & honey mustard panini ($9) which was a terrific value because it had a gigantic amount of turkey and a big portion of excellent fries. Red Rock is basically divided into two rooms -the front room has the bar and it was pretty crowded when we went inside for the show. The show was in the back dining room where the stage and dance floor are located. We had a fun time during our first visit to Red Rock.

Yelp
This was my first time at Red Rock Tavern and truthfully, it's not my type of bar. The two stars is because the waitress was super sweet and patient. I got the popcorn shrimp and while my food was decent, my little sister's chicken tenders was basically plastic so she barely ate any of them. My sangria also tasted like Clorox but the waitress switched it out for me. Again, it's not my type of bar so I won't be returning.

Yelp
I've worked across the street from Red Rock for the last 14 years and have eaten there / gotten takeout hundreds of times. I've also hosted / attended countless parties, fundraisers and gatherings. Tons of great memories. The owner Don is a super nice guy as are all the staff. The food is very affordable pub fare. Sandwiches, wraps, burgers, wings, etc as well as some tasty entrees. They have daily specials and I've never been disappointed with the food. Lately I've been enjoying their boneless wings which are available in several sauces and dry rubs. I highly recommend Red Rock.

Yelp
This place should be shut down 100% every server is rude and nasty... all most like you have inconvenienced them by even coming here.. our waiter has been rude since the second we have arrived throwing/stacking chairs angry because we are here at 11:27 pm and they close at 2 am... there are sooooo many places to go to that are better then this dump.. they won't be happy if you come here.. also I'm a chef for a living and i wouldn't even send a family member here as a last resort..GO SOME PLAVE ELS
google avatar

Leah D.

Yelp
A nice place to pop in for happy hour. I enjoy the steak and cheese egg roll. Very affordable menu. The waitstaff could use some help with the customer service. I enjoy sitting at the bar but it is seating outside and inside besides the bar.

Chassie P.

Yelp
Food was good but the drinks were way too strong, almost undrinkable. There was also a small dog inside the establishment that was not a service which made us very uncomfortable. There were spills all over the floor as well that had not been cleaned up the entire time we were there.

Erica O.

Yelp
I went to red rock tavern last night. I got to interact with some of the staff, Sue and Carmen were very friendly & attentive at the bar. The food & the service was AMAZING. Great vibes & delicious food. I will definitely be coming back.

Yelp
For starters, we did not come here to partake in the bar part of this tavern. We had two younger people in our party, and would have preferred to sit in a dining room so... We were glad that we were able to enter in a different part that was separated from the bar. That being said, don't come here for the food, we did and it was disappointing. I ordered a BLT wrap and another person from my party ordered a chicken Caesar wrap. Both wraps on the menu for the same price, $8.50 and the wrap comes with a bag of Lays. My friend's chicken Caesar wrap was pretty big, so big that she gave me the other half since I was still hungry. My wrap? Was half the size of hers... Amazing that they charged me $8.50 for it! I really did not want to make a big deal about it so I just let it be and ate the other half of hers. The BLT wrap was crap, very little bacon, and it was all crumbled up with shredded lettuce and chopped up tomato. Did I say it was small? Two others with us ordered chicken strips and fries/cheeseburger and sweet potato fries. The chicken strips had no flavor whatsoever... I'm not saying they were bad, but... Literally no seasoning no flavor. We didn't get to taste the fries because the guy forgot to bring them out and we just said to forget about it. On to the cheeseburger I was told it seemed like a very low quality meat... I did not want to try!! I did try the sweet potato fries and that was literally the only yummy thing I ate from the table. They did get three stars from me because their service was friendly and fast enough.

Yelp
I've been coming here since I was a kid. The food is always great. It's a fun spot to hang out with friends for drinks or dinner before a show at the Bushnell. We went on Sunday and the place was hopping! Always a good time.
google avatar

Yelp
Red rock is the classic neighborhood bar with classic neighborhood bar food. The staff is friendly and the vibes there can run from sleepy to a lit dance party on a Sunday for brunch. A true Hartford gem!
google avatar

Rick S.

Yelp
I have to give praise to the staff. They were amazing. Thank you so much. Food was great. I loved sitting outside. Thanks so much!
google avatar

Yelp
Decent Pub food and drink. Fries were really good the burger good. Drunks good and strung thought the Soda seemed flat. Pleasant staff. Nothing bad but nothing stood out either this avg review.
google avatar

Evelyn A.

Yelp
Ordered curly fries and lemon pepper chicken wings. The wings didn't taste like anything. Friend ordered a burger and regular fries. Burger was below average. Regular fries are better than curly fries. Service okay.

Yelp
It was Saturday night and we were going to different bars. My sister wanted somewhere with music and food so she convinced me to give Red Rock a try. It was as Salsa night and cover was $10.00. We ordered wings and they were more than what I expected; they were good and right amount of heat. Definitely a good place to hangout when in the area.
google avatar

Abbey L.

Yelp
I came to red rock this weekend for the first time for Saturday brunch. Overall I had a good experience! I had a breakfast burrito, which was good, and the boozy coffee. The boozy coffee was delicious and well worth the $10. The server was quick to take our order and food came out in a timely manner. The atmosphere is low key but nice for a casual brunch! Would return here again.
google avatar

Susan H.

Yelp
I wish I could write a review about the food and ambiance here, but our reservation for six tonight was cancelled due to a large party, The restaurant didn't even let us know. We only found out because we called to double-check. There is absolutely no excuse for such poor customer service! We are left scrambling at the last minute to find a place to eat before we see the show at the Hartford XL Center. I'm furious.
google avatar

Yelp
I really like red rock they have great service and food. They have cool outdoor seating area and spacious indoor area as well. It's totally one of those places you feel at home with. It's a great place to frequent and meet up with friends and have a good time. Also there's a parking lot adjacent to it so parking isn't an issue
google avatar

Yelp
I'm sorry, the people are nice but the food was bland as hell, worst shrimp tacos I've ever had. The portions of food/drink were pathetic. Breakfast burrito was ridiculously small. When we ordered drinks they were brought in small dixie cups. The atmosphere was fine to look at but everyone in there was sweating it was so hot. Music SO loud you had to scream at your waitress just ordering. Terrible place that rips you off. Zero stars

Michael K.

Yelp
Friendly people, delicious food, nice atmosphere, convenient location, great place to hang out with friends.

Yelp
Stopped in due to a recommendation. Ordered 2 sandwiches and a salad to go. Waited approx. 45 minutes (they did mention after the second inquiry that they had a catering order ahead of it, but...) The Cobb salad was ordered with extra dressing. It came with NO dressing. The California chicken sandwich is served on a hamburger bun - a cheap hamburger bun. The Italian combo grinder was order with lettuce, tomato, peppers and Italian dressing. It had no lettuce and no dressing, and the roll seemed stale. It was very dry but I was hungry. The staff was very friendly and apologetic about the wait, but the kitchen staff couldn't follow basic instructions. (I saw the written order). Kitchen: You have one job. One job.

Lauren P.

Yelp
This past weekend we had Red Rock cater for a party we were hosting of 75 people. When ordering, we were recommended great dishes and walked through the process. The food arrived hot and ready! The chicken Parm is to die for! The Philly cheesesteak egg rolls were gone in minutes! The penna vodka was a fan favorite! And the co cut platter was huge!! We can't thank Red Rock enough for the excellent service and food! Everyone asked where it was from and I'm still getting texts about how delicious it all was!! Thanks again Red Rock! HIGHLYYYY RECOMMEND!!!!!!

Angela C.

Yelp
Food was fantastic and large portioned. We loved the outdoor seating. Very comfortable and laid back. Owner?/Server? was very personable and enjoyable and also very attentive in seeing if we needed anything. We took a weeklong vacation up the Maine coast and this was a stop on the way but ended up being one of my favorite places we ate at. If in the area I highly recommend stopping for a meal.

Yelp
Red Rock Tavern catered my daughter's graduation party over the weekend and everything was amazing! The owner was really helpful and made some great recommendations when I was trying to plan the menu. We had a salad bar and everything was fresh and beautiful. One of the salads they run as a special, their Kale & Quinoa, but they accommodated us and made it for the party. It is the best salad I have ever had and a must try for anyone. The day after the graduation I received multiple texts about how wonderful the food was and how beautifully everything came prepared. And they delivered, making it even easier on me. Everything from start to finish was professional and the prices were extremely reasonable. Thank you Red Rock and Diana in the kitchen for making the party such a success!

Yelp
Red Rock Tavern is a gem. Live entertainment on specific days, friendly environment & you will meet people of all walks of life. We went for brunch which are Sundays from 11:30am - 4pm. Bottomless brunch at that which is hard to find in the Hartford Area. White cranberry is my favorite; I highly recommend it. There's a DJ (DJ Sarg) who plays all the good tunes to keep you jamming the entire time. The waitresses are so attentive & were there every-time I needed something. It can get packed sometimes so a reservation may be needed. The food is great. I got the lean mean wrap which was fresh, ingredients perfectly paired (especially for someone who tries to eat somewhat healthy even when out) & I even snuck some of my partners chicken & waffles sandwhich. (That is a must try!) I would recommend this place the bar to be for all your needs.
