I’ve passed by this pub for decades and recently a friend recommended their lobster rolls. Today I finally got in there for lunch and it was fantastic- the personable wait staff, delicious food, good music and cool Irish pub decor all contributed to a wonderful experience. While I was there several other patrons wandered in and the interactions I witnessed would make me absolutely comfortable bringing my family in next time! My only regret is that it had taken me this long to go there for the first time! I look forward to going back!!

The chicken croquettes were great. The steak tips were amazing. The meatloaf was not so great. The service needs some work. Our waitress could only take our drink order and not the app order at same time. We asked if we could put our meal order when we ordered the apps. She couldn't do that. She did come around and asked how things were. She didn't come back to give us our check. She walked by at least 4 times, made eye contact, didn't react when I raised my hand. Bill finally came after waiting about 30 minutes. Someone else had to take our cards to pay because our waitress had just taken a food order from the table next to us and she couldn't take our payment. Need to work on the service.

Google
Irish pub-type place that makes a really great shepherd's pie. I also liked the steak tips, which were juicy and delicious. It's a bar with a few 2-4 person tables for sit-down dining. The seating was comfortable and the service was decent. I didn't order alcohol when I was there (I just don't drink much).

Google
An Irish pub that's doing things right! *Food: We would give a 4.5/5 if we could!! Meals: The Irish Burger and the Harvest Apple and Chicken Wrap Beverages: Coke products The husband and I stopped in after a morning of shopping at the Wrentham Outlets, and this place is our new spot to beat for the area. From the statement-piece rooster sign out front to the charming interior dotted with authentic Irish decor, not to mention those 'little local touches' - inclusive of a police badge wall from all the visitors of neighboring towns and, of course, sports memorabilia - there is no doubt that we will be coming back soon! Shoutout to our server - dog mom to Oscar and Emmy - she was wicked nice and made our experience that much better!

Google
Such a great, comfortable pub. Service is always quick and really nice. One of my favorite places for wings since I always order them “well done” and the Rooster is one of the only places that actually do it… every single time. (High five to the chef(s)). Every time I have ordered something else, it’s been great too. I try to get over to the Rooster whenever I can.

My boyfriend and I started going there after COVID, and it quickly became our special date spot. The atmosphere, food, and service were amazing back then , we truly loved it. But when we returned a few months later, everything had changed. And not once did that happen to us multiple times. This was our last straw. Two weeks ago, we decided to go again. We stood at the entrance for over 10 minutes, and not a single staff member acknowledged us. Then a group walked in after us, and immediately someone came to seat them. We tried not to jump to conclusions , maybe they were just busy, and it wasn’t about race , but it was hard not to feel the difference. Eventually, we had to stop a waitress ourselves to get a table. Then we waited another 30 minutes before anyone came to take our order, and another 30 minutes after that for our food. When the waitress finally brought the check, she didn’t ask if we needed anything else ,it felt like they just wanted us to leave. We felt like outsiders, and it was honestly heartbreaking. People were looking at us like we didn’t belong. We couldn’t even finish our food. It’s just sad — very sad — to be treated that way at a place that once felt so welcoming.

As a foodie-loving little teddy 🧸 bear I am... This place treated me with a barrel full of honey 🍯. I took the house salad and steak tips with mashed potatoes and my buddy the grilled salmon and Greek salad. Together with a blue moon beer 🍺 and 2 shots of Jameson whisky that was such a perfect 👌 👍 dinner. Highly recommend 👌 meat 🍖 melts in your mouth, salad is fresh fresh fresh like they picked it from a back yard garden... Comfortable seats and a great bar. We destroyed those plates 🍽 and sorry for no pics again... I'll try to do better.

Google
Great Irish pub with very friendly staff and patrons. The type of place people will move over to help you get a seat. I watched 2 strangers at a 4 top invite 2 people that were waiting for a table to sit with them. The atmosphere was great. It is kid friendly. There was live music playing on a Sunday afternoon. Just the right level so you could talk and not yell. My daughter and I each started with a Shirley Temple. I'm a big kid at heart. For an appetizer we each got a cup of their creamy, buttery, thick and absolutely delicious clam chowder! My daughter got the baha burger. She really liked it. The fries were crisp with a nice spice. I had a stuffed quohog, this was served hot with butter and lemon. This was so good. I had the garlic parmesan chicken wings. These were crispy, juicy on the inside, and the flavors were delicious! Some of the best I've had. The entire time the staff was attentive and friendly. Definitely worth checking out!

Yelp
Very fun, welcoming and great food. Our waitress was attentive and the crowd was very polite. We had a wonderful experience.

Yelp
Nice outside seating area , exterior bigger than interior ! . Service was extremely slow and waitresses , maybe should've taken an extra happy pill but they were very busy . Food was ok . Buffalo wings overcooked, open faced roast beef sandwich a little funky tasting . Burgers are humongous and salads aren't bad . Typical locals hangout . Wouldn't make a special trip back. PS I was looking back at past reviews and the business manager replies to reviews by being passively snide . Most are bullshit responses like "we are not for everybody " ,"our kitchen is a scratch kitchen " " everyone has their "off" days" At least take responsibility for the shitty reviews , they're shitty for a reason !!

Yelp
New to the area, was looking for dinner on a Sunday afternoon. We chose the Red Rooster because of proximity and of course Yelp. We decided on the Shepard's pie and the steak tips dinner. Hands down, THE BEST steak tips I've ever had. My husband enjoyed the Shepard' s pie. Both dishes had their famous mash potatoes. Service was very prompt and courteous, and we did take out but the energy and ambiance was refreshing! Will definitely be returning!
google avatar

John R.

Yelp
Went with my friend to this establishment after passing it numerous times and glad we went! Read the reviews and seems like the Steak tips are there specialty, so I had them. I must say they were fantastic, glad I listened to everyone's advice. My friend had Shepherds Pie and he raved about it! It is a pub, so it's a little loud but friendly staff and warm, cheery Pub decor. I would definitely go again.

Yelp
Loved it here! First time here! Food was good bartender Lenny was a cool guy and generally made you feel welcome. Sat outside and lived the whole vibe of the Red Rooster. Will definitely be back.

Yelp
Stopped in while visiting the area for a wedding. Nice vibes. Bartender was very kind and great with service, she had some wine and I did my traditional Jameson n Ginger. We picked at some wings and fries and had a decent time. I would definitely come back and recommend if you're looking for a local bar with a wine selection. Or to watch the game

Yelp
First time visiting, This is a popular spot located right on route 1. My guest and I both ordered the steak tips which came with mashed potatoes and vegetable. We also ordered side salads, I had a fiddlehead draft beer. This place is small and busy today, it took a little while for the steak tips but it was worth the wait. Tasty tips . I would go back. Check them out

Yelp
This place is a gem of a restaurant and is as unassuming as can be. From the outside, you would expect maybe some bar pizza and burgers, which as they passed by, looked good. We were there on a date and it's a fun place to spend some hours. The main room is a bar atmosphere with some flatscreens and a smart jukebox. The menu is surprisingly upscale for a bar. We had turkey tips and grilled salmon which were both served with zucchini and rice. Everything was done perfectly and flavorful. The service is friendly and fast and the bar atmosphere adds a good energy to a night out. It's not a quiet place at all, but we were not looking for quiet. For a weekend date night, it was a great choice.

Yelp
Fun little pub in Wrentham. Had a few beers (which was a good selection) as well as the steak tip pizza which was good. We also tried the stuffed quahogs which were not really with the $7 each prices tag as they seemed like something from a supermarket freezer section. Overall I would head back here.

Yelp
Popped in while I was staying nearby on a roadtrip due to the mostly positive reviews. It was a Friday evening and I sat at the bar and ordered a bacon cheeseburger with tots. The burger/bun really lacked flavor. It tasted like a cheaper store brand roll and frozen patty. At minimum the meat needed some salt and pepper in my opinion. The tots were very crispy and tasty though. Overall, probably a good wing & beer spot.

Jan M.

Yelp
Thank you for caring enough to explain about the menu posting. I'll certainly stop in when I am in the area.

Yelp
Great food and service. Can be loud when crowded. Particularly like the sandwiches. Turkey or chicken clubs are amazing.
google avatar

Mark W.

Yelp
I ordered take out for myself and a few of my kids. We ordered steak tips, some burgers and clam chowder. The clam chowder was so/so but the burgers were great. The steak tips were as well. It's a townie bar and the crowd tended older at 7:30ish on a Thursday. Great place.

Yelp
Love this restaurant! Fresh made food, great staff, and great prices. We love the variety of the menu. Specials are a great bonus. Love when they have a special "egg roll ", such as steak and cheese. Husband go to is the steak tips Mine one of the salmon dishes or one of their wraps. Irish nachos are a favorite Thank you for being a hidden gem in our area!

Chris C.

Yelp
Ambiance is old school barroom. The service staff is good and as well as the food. Can be very loud at times.
google avatar

Renee A.

Yelp
Not much to look at from the outside but nice and cozy on the inside. The staff was nice and helpful. Food was good. I had the Roo burger it was way bigger than I expected. My hubby had the Irish special. I'd have to look up the name! Great place for a good meal!

Yelp
Service is wonderful, I went there for something to eat and I ordered a pizza and the server told me that it fell on the floor and had to make a new one, they offered me something else with no charge, I said no thank you I will wait for my food to come, the ambiance was amazing. It was a very family friendly environment, I recommend it to anyone who wants to eat out somewhere

Yelp
Was in town for work and got some good recommendations from locals about the Red Rooster! Like stepping into a different world off the main road, place had a classic pub feel to it. The place was ALIVE when I walked in at 1:45pm on a Thursday. Got the chicken BLT and was pleased with my purchase. They are having some website issues, at least the one linked through yelp. Online menu was not accurate, displaying all items that had ever been served at the pub, seasonal and archived items.
google avatar

Will F.

Yelp
We ordered an appetizer to share along with our respective meals, and we were pleasantly surprised at the portion sizes served on our plates. We started with the Irish Nachos which were great but could have used some added spice on them. For dinner, I had the Bacon Wrapped Meatloaf while my husband had the Shepard's Pie. Both plate portions were really big and wonderfully presented, as we could not finish those plates. Again, both dinners could have used some extra seasoning as the full flavor effect was rather null. The service was excellent.
google avatar

Mike W.

Yelp
Great little place! The service was excellent as was the food. Very cool atmosphere. I will definitely make a point to visit again whenever I'm in the area!

Paul D.

Yelp
In spite of the place being basically just an extended barroom, it felt homey and comfortable. Felt more like a local pub (public house) in the traditional sense as opposed to a dark, depressing barroom. Bar and seating areas were very clean. The place is well lit. There's ample parking. Night time crowd was mostly folks older than I am (I'm in my mid-forties) but there were some families with kids. Food is above average for pub fare. I'd like to see more items on the menu as well as maybe some unique items to separate it from the 99s of the world. But, as far as turkey tips and burgers go, they do a solid job. Similarly, beer selection is good but, with the exception of Maine Brewery's "Lunch," there weren't any taps that I was excited to see. Staff is friendly, chatting with locals but not to the point that non-regulars would feel excluded.

Yelp
First off, mea culpa, my husband and I have passed this place numerous times- intending to go (once was in the parking lot), but hadn't until today. We decided to actual go in this time- and this won't be the last time. We were here on a Sunday- and walked into Irish session music. Our server, Lenny- who looked like Bobby Cannavale- was friendly and chill- didn't sweat us at all. My husband got a Guinness which he said was fantastic and I had yer man list off the kinds he thought I would like base on my preference for IPAs. Not a huge beer list, but quality choices. We ordered the Harvest Apple Salad and the Irish burger. Salad was BIG- crisp romaine, sweet-tart dried cranberries, creamy goat cheese, almonds with a delicious house made white wine mustard vinaigrette- perfect portion of it. The burger- was nicely chard, but juicy- despite it, the bun held up amazingly well. The rashers and grilled tomato slice -added both a salty and sweetness that rounded out the nutty Irish cheddar. Not to be forgotten, the crinkle fries were super crispy, but fluffy in the middle without any greasiness. There's a cute out door space and the band got the crowd to participate- providing a convivial atmosphere. We'll be back!

Tara L.

Yelp
The place is comfortable and cosy. Food goes a step above bar food. The lobster roll is enormous! (and appropriately expensive) Everything we have had there has been good, and consistent.
google avatar

Holly W.

Yelp
Cock-a-doodle doo! Cute, small, clean. Felt tailored for regulars or men(or maybe that was just who was working.) We were there during winter break with our kids. They do have a one high chair. The bartender was busting out of her shirt and busting her butt as she was the only employee we saw and the place was almost to full capacity table and chair wise. And even with all her patrons, our service was prompt and efficient. Steak tips: good flavor but the mashed potatoes needed seasoning Wings: Garlic parm deliciousness! Great sauce Pizza: My husband and daughter thought it was better than the pizza we had earlier in the week from Maguire's but I disagree. Just wasn't anything special Tater tots: large and cooked just right I would stop here again but thought it is better suited for adults

Yelp
Stopped here after hiking in Gilbert Hills, favorite place to stop! They had Hills Farmstead Edward IPA, which goes with the perfection of Gilbert Hills State Forest. Always great service at the Roo!!!

Yelp
This hidden gem on route 1A, a couple of miles from Gillette Stadium . The Shepard's Pie was savory and delicious. The ground beef was so tasty. A bed of heavenly mashed potatoes on top... Yummy The Steak carbonara pizza was buttery and crispy with an excellent balance of steak, sauce, and cheese .. The chicken wings were good also. Nice and clean. I wasn't expecting the excellent service and delicious food. #foodpost #irishfoodie #food #foodoftheday #easyrecipe #foodiegram #eats #familymeal #yummyfoods #foodshot #crockpotrecipes #foodphotographyandstyling #love_food #grilledchicken #foodbloggerjakarta #foodbloggerindia #familymeals #instafoodie #yummyeats #eat #tasty #fooddie #lunchisserved #breakfasttacos #easydinner #easydinners

Yelp
We went on a Friday night for dinner. It's small inside with a larger outdoor Patio available as well. Food was good. Service was slow but they were packed. Very friendly staff! The noise level when we were there was shouting conversations only. But again it was a Friday night. Live music too. Definitely a happening place but just be aware, not for a quiet dinner. Party time!!

Doug M.

Yelp
We have been here a few times now. Always packed, still we got a table in about 10 minutes. The food was good the service a little slow, but I did say they were busy. Prices were normal, we will be back for more. They sometimes have live bands, it's kind of loud ,so be prepared. Outdoor seating is also available. Specials change weekly
google avatar

John R.

Yelp
Met up with friends and co-workers for a social event. The food was excellent and the prices were very good. I got chicken wings and quality was excellent. Nice outdoor seating area and the service was excellent. The parking was good.

Jason L.

Yelp
This place is great for a little hole in the wall! The steak tips are off the chart and never a dull moment at the rooster! The staff is very friendly and inviting. Also great outside patio for daytime fun

Leo L.

Yelp
Elegant ambiance with sweet service. We ordered lobster tail to share, it came with two plates split already. Good portion for each. The food is delicious.

George P.

Yelp
Small loud bar with really good food Always busy don't be shy Small menu steak tip great I had hot turkey sandwich dinner Another person had meatloaf and 2 other Had steak tips also got peach waffle desert Had to share it was so large Definitely be back prices good also

Yelp
Food is good! Chicken tenders delicious, pizzas are pretty good too. The only reason we don't go more often is that if you are not a "regular" Service can be iffy and slow. We've felt forgotten more than once as servers and bartenders focused on larger groups of regulars. I'm not sure how their takeout holds up - but the food is pretty decent pub fair and we enjoyed it.

Bill C.

Yelp
You know there's something seriously wrong with an establishments ownership when you walk in a bar and the TV is on MSNBC. Doesn't matter what your personal political leanings are, it's a f'ing BAR, you put something like sports on that doesn't alienate half (or more) of your customers. Of course, people on that side of the aisle think everyone thinks like they do Update - we ordered a steak carbonara pizza. It was tiny, despite the $13 price tag, but had potential. It would've been great if the crust hadn't been completely burnt and hard as a rock. Eating at the bar, and the bartender conspicuously didn't ask us how the pizza was despite delivering it to us herself. Funny, she asked the couple next to us how their wings were. I'm guessing she knew what the answer would be Update - you're right, you're definitely not for everyone. Instead of apologizing for the fact that the TV was on a channel you yourself admit it shouldn't be on and for serving us terrible food you choose to tell us to take our business elsewhere. You might be hardworking, but it's too bad your hard work doesn't result in decent food. And you definitely give away your political views when you claim to be "welcoming", as long as people think like you do and don't complain about the sub-par food. Looks like you have enough locals whose political views align with yours and who don't mind the low quality products you serve to pay the bills. Lots of higher quality establishments in the area where we can spend our money

Susan M.

Yelp
Good food Good service Loud if crowded Easy parking Nice staff No ambiance rustic bar
google avatar

Trang B.

Yelp
We went here for lunch with a group. They were accommodating but refused to split the check. It was fine. We figured it out. The service was quick and friendly. We liked the food in general. I think the nachos needed something extra (like salsa or chili?) but over all, we liked the food. It's a small dining area and very pub style. We would come back when in the area again.
google avatar

EE P.

Yelp
Love this place. Perfect Irish pub with delicious food and great drinks and it won't kill your budget. If I lived across the street I would be there every day. Everything from the chowder to the lobster to the chicken wings is fresh and tasty.
google avatar

John S.

Yelp
Best tips anywhere... Place is small so sometimes you have to wait for a table... Other than that I have a recommend it
google avatar

Kim S.

Yelp
We walked in with a party of 30 and the staff handled our group with ease and quite fast!!! Food was absolutely delish! Burgers, lobster rolls, wings, salads.. servings are large!!! We will be back next year!!!
google avatar

Rich D.

Yelp
The place is small, but that's about the only diminutive comment I can muster up. The food was delicious (Steak tips, buffalo wings) and the ladies (Jennifer and Alexandra) that took care of us could not have been any nicer and accommodating. Friday at approximately 6:30 pm, the place was packed and yet they were so attentive to a table opening up. This place is awesome and I highly recommend it Keep up the great work and I wish you all the very best. Thank you; Rich and Alba

Yelp
Way beyond basic bar food. I'm from Texas and after spending the last few months in the the land of this food has no flavor. I was elated to find this hole in the wall. I had just about given up on finding a monster mud bug roll y'all call the lobster but whatever. The clam chowder and lobster roll were delicious. I have had a good lobster roll and seen the leaves change so I can keep my happy ass SOUTH of I-10 for the foreseeable future. GO ASTROS

Scot C.

Yelp
We love coming on Thursday's and the bartenders! It's the best place to come To have a few drinks and chill with our friends!

Don C.

Yelp
The food was amazing especially the Rooster Burger. The drinks were great and we had an amazing waitress Stephanie who was very attentive. An amazing experience!!
google avatar

Carmelita M.

Yelp
Waitress was on her cell phone. So unprofessional No lobster rolls available. That was the whole reason we came here.
google avatar

Liz M.

Yelp
Awesome lobster BLT that was seasonal. Probably about a POUND of claw meat, yum. Cool little place to get cozy and watch games.

Yelp
Four of my friends met another guy who had recently moved to Wrentham. Ed, picked the Red Rooster located 2 miles south past Gillette Stadium. We met to watch the Patriots Titans Game. First impressions they had plenty of parking. Inside they had tables and booths decorated like a countryside Irish Pub. The bartender John served as both waiter and (Labor shortage et al) bartender. John was congenial and his service in both roles was outstanding!! We started out with the Rooster Balls chicken filled with jalapeño cheese served with ranch dressing and warn chips for$8.00. A tasty appetizer!! We also ordered the Spilt Rooster Wings we picked a Garlic Parmesan sauce with crisp French Fries for $12.00. Never had that sauce (group decision!) before and found it not to spicy and very enjoyable. While the fries were crisp and delicious! For 2nd quarter we ordered a couple of very good bar pizzas. Base price for a cheese pizza is $6.50, with vegetables $.50 each. While meats like bacon, pepperoni or sausage $1.00 each. Then chicken plain, BBQ, or Buffalo $3.00 each. We made up 3 different with our own choices from above for all under $10.00 each. Finally a few guys ordered their Shepherds Pie $14.00, Steak tips $16.50 and finally Turkey tips for $15.00. After the Patriots won they had an Irish Triad Session trio start playing and waitress come on duty. As both area residents and folks heading home that way stopped in to enjoy the ambiance of the Red Rooster. Definitely a place worth stopping into, if you're in the Wrentham/Gillette/ Patriots Place area.

BIll P.

Yelp
This is outstanding place and really great steak tips. Service is outstanding. This is one of the best values in area. Fun bar and great servers.

Alan H.

Yelp
I walked right in viewed the crowd and turned around and left. Unless you're up for a drunken older beer party, where you might get hit with a bottle I would not go there
google avatar

Kristin D.

Yelp
Buffalo Chicken Wrap- it was amazing! Best onion rings I've had in a long time. Everyone is friendly and the food is fresh.

James H.

Yelp
great service. slight issue with the order, but it was taken care of above and beyond
