I have had about 14 meals at Red Rooster in the 18 months I have lived in the area of Garden Valley. I like the food, never had a bad one. I like their Taco Tuesday. But what I really like is their Value 5$ Hamburger and 3$ regular fries, both are wonderful and tasty. Their ice cream section to the right as you go inside, which can be missed, has tasty options. I have had one creamy vanilla shake. I have had their cheeseburger and its good too. Never had to wait long to order. I do not drink wine or beer but folks tell me its good. What is not to like about this place... nothing!

Another stop on the way to our son’s baseball game. If you are super hungry it’s a place to stop by. If your just hungry wait till you find another spot. We ordered burger, zucchini fries, cheese tots. Burger: it was ok Zucchini Fries: ok Tater Tots: ok I can’t say to much since the food felt like all frozen items.

Excellent Bacon and Blue Burger. $22 for burger and fries! They do have a $5 value burger option for kids!

Such a great place to go with family and children! Good value menu! Excellent malts and shakes too! We love it all!

The crispy chicken sandwiches are amazing and nobody can beat their homemade ranch. Service is always fast and it’s defined a family friendly environment.

This place brings back memories from high school, small town hang out, clean and friendly atmosphere. Family gathering and social hang out for teens just enjoying food and friends. I'm so glad my daughter suggested to dine in at Red Rooster. One of the best burgers tasted in the past 6 months. The food quality, the presentation, and the seasoning was just tasty and delicious. The fries were another plus crispy and soft. Thank you to the owners for having a great place and the chef for putting love in the presentation.

Tasty inexpensive stop on our back road trip. We both ordered the burger on the daily special ,one cheddar one Swiss. Thick cheese skirt on the cheddar burger was an added treat. Burgers were thin but cooked nicely. Order of crunchy orings with optional ranch upcharge $0.50. J & M had the loaded tots with grilled onions & 1000 type dressing. Good & decedent. Along with a veggie burrito loaded with every vegetable in the kitchen,..rated yummy. Pilsner on tap from Cool Breworks was perfect. Full bar,dogs ok on the front porch & plenty of parking.

Burgers were amazing. Fries crispy. The beer was over carbonated but that's an easy fix. My only downside were the prices, very high for lunch special, and they charge for add ons like cheese, bacon and ketchup. Will I be back? Possibly because it's 7 minutes away from Lotus which is my favorite place.

Oh my Gosh!!! We stopped here at Red Rooster's for lunch, and we were NOT disappointed! Great food, and awesome service. Very clean and welcoming!!! I highly recommend this place, as the food is off the charts!!! They also have ice cream...I hope I have enough room, because the Mocha Almond Fudge is calling to me!

The burgers are juicy, large portions. They are a bit pricey but to me it was worth it

My wife and I have eaten here on a number of occasions. Always order the patty melt, and either a burger or their BLT sandwich. Employees have always been very helpful, the food has been excellent, and the quality/experience surprisingly consistent. Would highly recommend the ice cream shakes as well, hand, scooped, and blended, and the onion rings are absolutely delicious.!

My wife and I stopped for an order to go on 11-3-25. The food was excellent, and the customer service was PHENOMENAL!! 10 out of 10 we will be returning!!

My husband and I stopped by after seeing a recommendation on Nextdoor. Cute little local spot! Friendly people, delicious milkshakes made with real ice cream, and huge burgers! I got the Western Burger. I had to smash it down a bit so I could fit it into my mouth. Delicious! The cheddar cheese "skirt" around it was so good! My husband got the French dip & said it was super tasty. We also got loaded tater tots, which tasted similar to In n Out's animal style fries. We will definitely be back!

I love little roadside restaurants. They have a special essence in their food even if it's basic burgers and fries. Milk shakes, ice cream, cocktails, whatever you need on your motorcycle ride to Georgetown. Pay at the window and they will call your name . Sit inside or outside - cute American restaurant. I got the chicken sandwich and fries. Everything was great. Our friends got a chocolate shake and it was delicious they tell me. Great place and I would love to take my sister and her baby while on a day trip out of Sacramento.

Great tasty burgers and they even introduced lunch specials which makes it more affordable. If you are not going during their lunch specials, it can easily run you about $20 per person.

Stopped by here with the motorcycle group for some Lunch and it was amazing. I ordered the patty melt and it was honestly the best patty melt I have ever had. The service was also top notch, they were so kind and accommodating

I love love hot dogs so I was excited to try this place because they have a nice selection. The food was ok nothing special. I ordered a chili cheese fry and a monster fry. The monster fry I didn't really care for the spicy sauce. The chili cheese dog was very plain and I didn't care for the pepperchinos on it. Can't speak for the ambiance or the service, I only Picked up via DoorDash.

There are not many choices in these parts, but that's ok. They have a pretty wide variety of options, and everything I've had has been surprisingly well executed and delicious.

I live in Georgetown but always go to red rooster they have a puppy burger for my dog and eat and walk the garden valley park..food there is good but there choclate shakes awesome

Had the lunch hamburger special. It's a plain frozen burger on a bun with lettuce pickles with a dab of mayonnaise and mustard, dry and very plain. The fries were very good though.

Love this place their burgers and onion rings are bomb, but....... You gotta get a milkshake it's a little pricey but unfortunately so is life in general ‍they have outside seating and there's a nice park for the kiddos right across the street

My husband and I came here on our 4th of July weekend camping trip. I ordered the Western BBQ burger and it was delicious-especially the onion ring part. Large portion so I was able to take half of it back to our cabin to finish later. Nice area for eating outside too. Since it was around 2pm it was pretty quiet.

OMG!!! This was the best burger I have had out ever! Had the Western no majo. Husband had bacon cheese and grandson had kids cheeseburger. All were cooked to perfection. Not drowned in sauce. Bacon crispy. Grandson had chocolate shake and of course had to taste. It was sooooo good. If you are out this way do not pass this place up. Beer is cold and burgers are amazing! Service is also on point.

Great spot in our little town... great food, people and more... well worth a drop in for a meal, ice cream or a beverage (adult).... I've seen people say things about pricing but it's not the owners fault... Prices are sky rocketing for everything... We have our Friday night dine out or take out and stay local to support these small businesses.... Do we spend more than I would pay in a largely populated area... YES.... BUT I would have to deal all things I don't like... crowds, rude people, traffic and more.... Support local business and enjoy what we have or we may not have them anymore... I promise you if you drop 20 bucks here you will be sickly FULL! and satisfied... The Miller's

Stopped by for a late Sunday lunch recently. The brisket sandwich was thoroughly enjoyed!!! I had a caliente burger w/ fries - all I can say is YUMMY!!! I got a bite of the brisket sandwich - delish!! The brisket is only on Sundays. The fries we're really good too!! You can have a beer, you can sit inside or out. Easy parking. I could easily become a regular!! It's not inexpensive, but for the quality I'm not going to complain. They do a taco Tuesday as well... I might have to head on over tonight!!

I didn't take a picture but my double cheeseburger was amazing! The crispy cheese and pickles were amazing in addition of course to the beef! My husband regrets not getting fries. He said he saw bacon grease involved with the fries. Next time!

Best food in town, bar is limited but I don't drink anyway. Milkshakes are pretty dang good here, love the burger menu, and the monster fries. I go often with the family, and enjoy the atmosphere. Good patio area. Has Taco Tuesday and Brisket Sunday.

ordered a taco salad to go and I'm not sure what I got, not taco salad. this was our first "to go" food and I was so looking forward to the taco salad. called in to tell of my disappointment and Cruz said he would give me a discount next time, a discount? should have given a refund because I'm not eating it. My recommendation is look at to go meals before you leave to make sure you get what you ordered. my husband ordered a pastrami burger that he said was good. Was not greasy. However he had to pay extra for cheese even though the picture shows cheese on it.

We went in there with 6 adults and 3 kids and everyone agreed that this place hit the spot. We all loved it. BLT, burgers, cheese steak, shakes, fries. All of it great.

The danger of calling something "the best kept secret" is that it becomes over-run with best-kept-secret-seekers and it loses its charm. But I'll take that chance. This is my go-to place whenever I'm near Placerville or Georgetown. It's on a quiet back road, is simple and unassuming, and has a nice down home, nothing fancy, friendly feel. The place is divided into two sections - the bar section has a small selection of excellent beers and ales on tap, usually has a game on the tv's and is a good place to hang and have a brew and some food. The main section is more family style, with your usual bank of tables, along with a few video games. The menu has a good selection of everyone's favorites - burgers, wraps, fries, etc., and there is also an ice cream counter for an after dinner cone or shake. My absolute favorite is their cheeseburger with either a cheddar or jack cheese skirt. The crispy cheese skirt is a treat in itself - peel it off piece by piece and savor the crunchy, cheesy goodness before chowing down on the delicious, perfectly cooked burger. You'd be hard pressed to find a better burger, anywhere!

For a small town the food is pretty good. The staff are usually younger high-school students but most often they have a great attitude and are helpful! Not a five star restaurant but definitely a staple for my family on nights we don't want to cook!

We camp in the area and this always on our list for a treat. Their milkshakes are worth a special trip. We have eaten here several times and I have never been disappointed.

Great food. This place reminds me if the small town burger joints I used to go to when I was younger. But this place is by far much better. The food portions are nicely about avergae and I'm sure that one of the reasons I decided to rate them so high... The food quality is comforting, fresh and flavorful. Nothing has seemed half-assed. The fries ROCK, they are hot and well done.... well done is VERY important. The Ice Cream Rocks even more. Great scoop sizes for a reasobale price... I sneak a scoop or two of chocolate at least once a week as my wife's won't let me have icream at home or when she's around ;) Note: We really do wish they were open until at least 9pm... :)

Burgers are still good but different. We called in a order today and was quoted 35-40 minutes. Not a problem normal wait is around 30 minutes when they are slammed. We get there at the 40 minute mark and it is not very busy. We ended up waiting another 35 minutes for 2 burgers, fries and poppers. There was a party of 5 outside and they didn't even bring the guy his food, neglected to tell him they didn't have the chicken he wanted. Is it under new ownership again? We went a month ago and they were out of ranch, BBQ sauce and marinara sauce lol. We were refunded and I appreciate that kind of customer service. Everyone that worked today seemed stressed and I felt bad as I have worked in the business for years. My boyfriend was upset and many other patrons were as well. My advice is don't give up just get better. Hopefully things will get a rhythm soon. Best of luck.

Is this a dinner , drive in or dive. Small little place with limited seating. We got a double cheeseburger, onion rings, cheeseburger with Pastrami, chili cheese fries and fried zucchini. If you are looking for health food this isn't the place. All the food was excellent. My double cheeseburger was cooked perfect with sizable beef patties. Onion rings were great. We were all happy with our orders. They have a great beer selection with a several taps from the local microbrewery. Service was quick and very friendly. A jewel in Garden Valley

Our first choice was closed, so we took a ride to Red Rooster. We're so glad! Cute, little place, decorated for the holidays. Place your order and take a seat. We both ordered cheeseburgers and shared an order of crinkle cut fries. Our cheeseburgers had a cheese "skirt". But not like the other company's huge, greasy, sloppy skirts. These were the right cheese to Burger ratio. Tomato, lettuce and onion were fresh. Only negative was the chopped white onion was very strong. A little slice of red onion would be better. Prices were reasonable and we're coming back if we're in the area again. Camping at Ponderosa, the drive is about 20 minutes uphill. Enjoy!!!

Amazing Burgers and Onion Rings. Some of the best food I have ever had. I cannot take stars away from a business trying to get out of one of the worst situations in our life time. To the parents of the hoodlums and juvenile delinquents who treated this business like it was their own personal babysitting service. You should look at yourself and control your children.

We have stopped in twice now as we are buying a house nearby and the staff are friendly and helpful. The food is pretty basic but filling. The last time we stopped in was a Taco Tuesday they had an excellent guitarist playing on the patio. It was such a fun vibe.

this place sucks. the food is alright, but gets out to you about 45 minutes after ordering. Not to mention you can feed only 2 people a full meal with 30 bucks. We've had personal experiences with this place, we're locals. The owner is a very rude woman, and my partner worked there for a short amount of time until he just couldn't anymore because of the poor treatment to himself and even other employees. She only works on one order at once, and teachers others to do the same, hence the late orders. One cashier was even stoned lol, don't blame her for having to work with that mess of a woman. She also specializes in favoritism, and is known to cuss out her son who works there, calls him useless too. Who's more useless than a lady who sits on her ass with orders on the line. Anyways the onion rings and shakes are good. The chicken sandwich is just 2 chicken tenders shoved in a bun.

Burgers are good, fries are good but that's about it. I tried their brisket and wasn't impressed at all. Their milkshakes have been bad lately and I've given up on giving those a chance. Somehow all the flavors have a hint of banana to them.

After reading favorable reviews we decided to stop in during a motorcycle ride. We wanted the burger with everything on it. Nope, ran out of bacon. My son asked to get a gluten free bun for a burger. Nope, can substitute a lettuce wrap. OK, that'll work. Food came out and the lettuce wrap was not fresh lettuce and over cooked dry patty. Kinda the same for my burger. I asked for medium cooked patty. What I got was a typical over cooked dry premade burger patty. Lettuce was also whilted and threw it away. Shakes and fries were decent. Maybe an off day but will try somewhere next time.

On Sunday, March 28 we stopped by Red Rooster to grab something to go after viewing a nearby property for sale. Sunday was the Brisket Sandwich Special (added cheese and bbq sauce) and we were totally blown away by the portion size of meat and after the first bite it was OMG - delicious! Would eat there again if ever up that way and take my food down to the American River in Lotus / Coloma area

We usually have a great experience, but sadly this past Sunday was not the case. Young cook, obviously still learning the ropes. Grandson's burger not made right. He corrected quickly. Grandson #2 corn dog frozen in the center. New one prepared by experienced cook. Fries not cooked long enough. Young one needs to be more patient and prepare as ordered. It's not a fast food joint. I expect to wait for properly prepared food. Kudos to the experienced cook. Keep working with that young one!

Update: Wow after the response to our review we will go ahead and give this place another shot. Thanks for listening. Updated to 3-stars. Kindness counts. Thanks It's just OK. The flies on the patio were disgusting.. please get some fly tape. We didn't mind waiting the 45 minutes for our meal but the hundreds of flies landing on us was unnecessary.... the food was OK.. nothing special. The large fries was not proportional to a typical large order. I wanted to order a shake to go but one of the girls (with a bun not braids) gave me the silent treatment when I said thank you three times.. I never got a "you're welcome." I'm a flight attendant and when customers say thanks I always say you're welcome.. it's not hard to say... We were hoping to find a local spot after our weekly hikes but sadly this wasn't the place. Justtake care of those flies....
