Marcus Samuelsson Looks Back on 30 Years in NYC

"After opening Red Rooster in 2010, he created a restaurant that reflected the Black Harlem community that had supported him, and he even put Lana Turner’s hats on display there in tribute to her mentorship; I was told her guidance—inviting him into her home and showing him examples of Black excellence—was instrumental in helping him realize the restaurant." - Najha Zigbi-Johnson

Red Rooster in Oklahoma City is one of my new favorite spots, especially because they offer so many impressive gluten-free options—which is rare for comfort food. I was thrilled to find that they serve gluten-free versions of classics like chicken fried steak, fish and chips, and a fried chicken sandwich. It’s clear they put real effort into making gluten-free dishes that don’t taste like a compromise. The fried chicken sandwich had a perfectly crispy coating and juicy chicken. The only thing I’d change is the amount of garlic—it was a little strong for my taste—but overall, the sandwich was still really flavorful and satisfying. The chicken fried steak was crispy, tender, and comforting in all the right ways, and the fish and chips were equally good with a nice light crunch. The chai old fashioned was a standout cocktail—unique, smooth, and balanced, with that subtle spiced flavor that worked surprisingly well with bourbon. The atmosphere is warm and modern without feeling pretentious, and the service was friendly and attentive. Overall, Red Rooster delivers creative comfort food that’s inclusive and delicious. I’ll definitely be back to try more gluten-free favorites and another round of that chai old fashioned.

Pretty cool spot. Went for brunch.. had the migas and a Mexican beer, brewed locally. Red Chile had perfect amount of heat. Beer was tasty. Spent 24 for one entree and drink.

Everything was AMAZING!! The cherry on top was the peach upside down cake! Don't hesitate to visit the red rooster. Clean intimate dining area wonderful attentive staff, clean washrooms.

Google
We arrived right when they opened. Promptly seated and water served. Hostess and waitress were both super pleasant and inside was clean and orderly. We ordered the charcuterie board for an appetizer and brisket and chicken fried bison for the entrees. Everything was AMAZING!!! We have absolutely no complaints AT ALL. Everything was melt in your mouth. Charcuterie was so flavorful. Mashed potatoes were creamy and the meats were full of flavor. Highly recommend this place!!!

First time coming here! Can’t wait to come back!! The service was absolutely incredible- Cassie the manager went above and beyond for us! Very personable & accommodating and made me feel very safe about my food allergies (celiac & allergic to all peppers, mushrooms and spice allergies) Alley our server was beyond sweet and attentive! They ran out of fish & chips so we will definitely be back to try them! If you have celiac like myself definitely check this place out!

Google
Upon first impressions, the restaurant is a smaller, more intimate setting, so voices carry and echo all over the room. Not too much of a problem. The trout dip was pretty good, and I liked their sea salt chips. Being gluten free and not being able to enjoy fish and chips in a restaurant for well over two years, I was excited to try it after seeing other raving reviews. I LOVED the fish! The thinly sliced potato "chips" left something to be desired. They weren't at all crispy. My mom really liked their current seasonal dessert, something with lemon and orange in it. I tried their gluten free strawberry lemonade sorbet and liked that, too. It has a fresh, natural strawberry tartness to it, like they made it there in the restaurant. If they do, props to them. We spent almost $90 just my mom and myself, but I'm sure we will be back to try something else!

Google
My first time here and I was impressed. Tilley was incredibly. She knew her wines and suggested the perfect pairing of food. She was attentive and friendly and just precious. I’m new to this area and will definitely be back!

Google
Oh m geeeee! Best fish & chips ever! When I tell you it lives up to the hype you won’t be disappointed! I have celiac disease and multiple allergies, this was our second time coming here and honestly we would come just for Cassie the manager and her team! The service is the absolute best they make you feel like family there! We also tried a new dessert the chocolate tart was thicccc and delicious definitely recommend!

Yelp
A genuine neighborhood bar and restaurant, right up front and close to an actual neighborhood. The building is old and has charm, inside and out. There are plenty of tables and chairs outside for nice days. Inside there's a couple of big booths, tables with booth style seating and chairs, and tables with chairs only. Or you can sit at the bar. My friend and I both had the BLTs with avocado - she had a margarita, I had an awesome tasting iced tea, made from loose leaves, the menu says. This is a farm-to-table restaurant, an internet search reveals. If you're a drinker, there is so much alcohol stacked on the wall here, there's got to be something they have that you would like to drink. Their menu states that they have a Happy Hour, Monday through Friday, 4 - 6 p.m. In this instance, I made reservations for 5 p.m. We were here on a Tuesday evening - some people were dressed as if they came straight from work - dressy business casual. Later as we were eating, people came in dressed much more casually. Parking was super easy, right next to the building. The vibe inside was pretty relaxed and chill. The restaurant staff we came in contact with were very polite and down-to-earth and non-obtrusive. The prices weren't bad at all. I would love to try out their brunch one Sunday. Perfect spot to eat at before attending events at the Tower Theatre.

Yelp
Made a resy via open table and we were sat right by away. We came in on a Sunday at around 1100 for Brunch. The restaurant itself felt really quiet, no music playing and tv's above the bar with no sound. and busting in with a party of 6 with toddlers in tow it felt like all eyes were on us to keep the kids from disturbing everyone else. We were seated in this huge u-shaped booth which was nice because we had plenty of room, not eating elbow to elbow. Ordering was pretty simple. The menu isn't crazy huge which was nice because when you have too many options it can get overwhelming. I read that they're known for using locally sourced ingredients which intrigued me to try it out. The downside was the wait time for food. Maybe it was because there were two other large parties who ordered in front of us? But long wait + hangry toddlers + quiet restaurant made for a more than usual stressful experience. It was 45mins to an hour from the time we sat down from the time our food arrived. And it's not like we waited 20 mins to choose what food we wanted, we ordered within 10 mins of being seated m, getting asked what we wanted to drink and then getting water brought to the table. Once the food came out it was devoured within 10 mins. Portion sizes are probably the actual suggested portion size adults are supposed to consume vs the 'American' portion size. We weren't sure that what we ordered was enough to satiate the entire family. We had the biscuits and gravy bowl, omelet of the week (sw omelet), chicken and waffle, cheese sausage and ham omelet, and the donut bread pudding. Came to around $100 w tip. If you're looking to feed ravenous kids, prices are on par with most brunch places and portion sizes are smaller. But the food quality was great, everything tasted delicious just took a while to get food brought out and oddly quiet so maybe not really a younger kid family friend place.

Yelp
Excellent neighborhood vibe restaurant. Reminded me of Bombay Bicycle Shoppe bar in San Antonio. Waiter, food, and happy hour are a go too!

Yelp
For a place that's been around more than five years, Red Rooster is a bit of a hidden gem. Well, maybe just for us. We arrived about 1 p.m. and found several friends unexpectedly there. If you've not been, it's a neat little place tucked into the Paseo. They have a few tables outside and not many more indoors. All of the staff we met were wonderful and friendly. And, yes, the food was good. A previous review mentioned the donut bread pudding, so I ordered it with a side of eggs over medium. I must not have read the menu well because I didn't realize it was bread pudding with ice cream and praline pecans. It was wonderful, and it would be a great shareable dessert. And I have to say, I enjoyed the eggs more than any others I've had in a long time. The yolks were nice and thick, and absolutely perfect. I tried a bite of my daughter's Croque a Doodle Do, and it was pretty great. Then I stole a bite of my son-in-law's biscuits and gravy with sausage. Oh. My. Gosh. The biscuits were fluffy, and the gravy was creamy, but that sausage... If I remember correctly, the sausage is house-made, and it's some of the best I've ever had. I'm definitely coming back, and I'm pulling a Ron Swanson: "Give me all the sausage and eggs you have."

Yelp
This is a really cool building with a great vibe. We were seated immediately however it took a while for anyone to come to our table to ask us what we wanted to drink or maybe to order. The restaurant wasn't overly busy, so I'm not sure why there was such a delay. The drinks were good and the food was pretty good too. Hubs had the fish and chips - the portions are huge so we split it and I got a side of grits. The fish was extremely good. Very tender and flavorful as was the tartar sauce. I enjoyed their grits however they needed a little bit of heat and a little bit more salt. Once I added salt, they were better. The service was somewhat lacking. Again, not only did it take a bit for anyone to acknowledge us at our table, when my husband asked for additional tartar sauce, he was halfway through his meal before it even came and he had to ask for it again. All in all, everything was fine and we are glad we went. However, it's a one and done for us.

Yelp
So happy to eat at a restaurant with legit gluten free choices for a change! They got a bump in stars from me for this alone. We sat at the bar and had a cocktail while trying the pimento cheese and chips. The cheese dip was great but the chips tasted a bit overcooked imo. We enjoyed it regardless. And I forgot to make note of the name of the cocktail but it was really refreshing. We also had the chicken drumsticks with buffalo sauce, a shrimp ceviche tostado (delish!) off the seasonal menu, and a salad. Everything was fresh and well prepared. I would order all again with no hesitation. We weren't hungry enough for dessert but I will be back for some of their bread pudding!

Yelp
Decent organic restaurant with a cool stylish interior. Didn't try their chicken which may have been their signature dish. Also wanted to try their masa grit cakes but they were out - their blue cheese grits were very good. Excellent and prompt service as well from a waiter who told me this restaurant was part of a "trilogy" including Holy Rollers and 30th Street Market, which I also have to check out. Interesting spot to go to if you are in OKC!

Yelp
A loud and bustling spot! We came here for a dinner on Friday evening, and enjoyed some fantastic fried chicken sandwiches. Good to see some great gluten free options! Staff were friendly, and service was slow. A great place to catch up with friends or enjoy a leisurely evening. We'll definitely be returning.

Yelp
The restaurant was cute and they had a good menu with many options! I tried their seasonal pasta special and it was delicious. We started with the fingerlings appetizer and it was AMAZING. My friend got the rooster burger but the sauces were left off and when we tried to flag down our waitress to get some for the dry burger she never came back. The service overall was really really poor, which was odd for a Thursday at 5:30pm with only 3 other tables. We never got refills and had to go and ask for our check at the host stand so that we could leave. The cost was not worth the amount of food received on the plate in my opinion.

Yelp
The Red Rooster, what a surprise! We have lived in Mesta Park, OKC, for nearly 25 years, and somehow, we have missed this little gem of a restaurant. It's only 1.1 miles and 5 minutes away from our home, and we frequent the Paseo frequently, and yet we had never dined at the Red Rooster. Well, that changed Friday evening, and on a whim, we had dinner there. We started with Dirty Martinis, which we enjoyed. However, I did not care for the style of Olive they use: small, dark green, and pitted. Jan ordered the cold noodle salad. Jit featured whole wheat noodles in a peanut sauce. She added shrimp. She enjoyed the dish and I my taste test was great. I'm not a cold noodle type of guy, but I would order it. I ordered fish and chips. I'm always looking for great fish and chips, and so far, this is as good as it gets in OKC. The batter is a bit heavy, but the fish is delicate and tasty. Loved the sliced chips. The tartar sauce is unique. I believe it is a blend of thousand islad dressing and pickle relish. It's different and I liked it. The atmosphere is relaxed, friendly, and cozy. The menu is not large but offers sufficient options to satisfy a range of tastes. The service was excellent. We are adding the Red Rooster to our restaurant rotation.

Yelp
This bar has been a very old establishment for some time. I was really expecting better food and much better service. I was not the least impressed with service or with the food today. It was a real disappointment. My food order was incorrect. No tea refill was asked. The bartender was very inexperienced and she was not the least bit helpful for anything I or my son needed. I will not be a repeat customer at this point.

Jennifer C.

Yelp
I love this cute little brunch spot. Food is amazing. Drinks were great. Would definitely go back.

Yelp
We were treated so phenomenally well the other night at Red Rooster. First impressions were an incredibly welcoming and cozy atmosphere: very unpretentious for a bar, beautifully furnished, well lit, and not too loud (looking at you, Bar Arbolada, love you though). We had the Rooster burger, and the fish and chips. The burger was quite good, though I would say I've had better. The ingredients were noticeably high quality, especially the meat and that amazing bun, but personally, I could have used some more sauce, since it was slightly on the drier side, and even though I adore gruyere cheese, I was surprised to find that I could have done without it. Its distinct flavor was cutting through in a way that was almost too noticeable. Minor complaints though. The fish and chips, though, was unbelievable: a delicate breading on top of fish that literally melted in your mouth. Fantastic housemade tartar sauce, with an herb in it that I couldn't identify but really elevated the flavor. If there's more perfectly cooked fish out there, I haven't had it. What really made the experience so wonderful, though, was the quality of our service. We walked in with no reservation on a Friday night, and to our dismay saw a packed dining room with no open tables. We weren't too interested in sitting at the bar, so I quickly made a reservation for about an hour later in the evening. When we came back, we were greeted by a woman we'd spoken to earlier, who recognized us and said she was glad we'd been able to make it back. But the person who really amazed us was our server Tilly, who truly went above and beyond to make us feel welcome and to engage with us. She even went out of her way to specially prepare a cocktail for us the way she liked it, and was so incredibly kind every time she passed by. To be honest, it was a level of care that I don't think I've experienced at many restaurants before, if any. As someone who works a customer service job, I truly understand how challenging it can be to look after every single person, especially on a busy evening, but it really felt like our presence in the restaurant was valued. The food was delicious, but ultimately it was the experience Tilly gave us that made our night. This place is a real gem in OKC and I can't wait to go back.

Yelp
We didn't order entrees since we were so full from the appetizers but the food was superb? The drumsticks were juicy and you can pick from several flavors, the Thai was really good. Their little grit squares were also delicious, whatever that cream was Rey served it with was so amazing I could bathe on it. Lol. The drinks were fun and they used great combinations of flavors. Our server Isabella way super attentive and reciprocated our humor which made for a more entertaining experience. I loved the quaint size but they had it all, outdoor seating, large bar as well as plenty of seating. Definitely one of my faves!
google avatar

Danna H.

Yelp
First time here with some friends for a birthday brunch. The menu looked great. I ordered the Paloma to drink. It was really good. The coffee was also great. My breakfast, not so great. I ordered the Migas. It was supposed to come with blue corn tortillas, but our server failed to let us know they were out. The migas itself was cold when it came out. Compared to other local restaurants, this migas was skimpy for $15. I hear the other people really enjoyed their biscuits and gravy. I am gluten-free, so the "good stuff" I could not eat. I can't say that I would go out of my way to come back here for brunch on my own. The Paloma and thet coffee is what earned the 3 stars. I might have just had an off day. Dinner may be better.

Yelp
Amazing Gluten Free options, great atmosphere, love to stop by when we are traveling through the area!

Yelp
One of my neighborhood favorites in OKC. I feel so grateful this place is now open for indoor/outdoor dining. The staff here are exceptional and the menu is great! My favorite thing to do is to order the fried chicken sandwich and a side salad. Their ingredients are always exceptionally fresh and the beer/wine list is fantastic. They have a great happy hour which we love to partake in. The outdoor area is pup friendly- so be sure to bring your furry friend. Thank you Red Rooster for being you! We can't wait to come back!

Yelp
Went here with friends before a concert. There was no wait and it was super easy to find parking. Tilly and Isabella were great. The ambiance was lovely, the drinks were tasty and the food was delicious. This was my first time visiting, and I cannot wait to return.

Maria B.

Yelp
Very cute restaurant with great service. I had the ribeye and I loved it so much that I went back the next night to order the same thing! Great gluten free options!

Yelp
This is one of my favorite restaurants in OKC. Always have great service, extremely knowledgeable of Celiac Disease and gluten free precautions. They cook their GF food in a separate part of the kitchen so there is no cross-contact. I always get their beer battered GF fish and chips or their Red Rooster burger with a GF bun ( not pictured) This is the only restaurant that has a GF bun that doesn't fall apart on you or isn't super dry. Their bun taste like a normal bun. DELICIOUS! They have the BEST fish and chips in town. Their batter is so light and the beer taste is perfect, not overpowering. Their dill tarter sauce is my favorite! I could eat a cup of it. The pimento dip comes with bread but if you order it GF they serve it with the house made fried potato chips. See picture. Highly recommend. I have never had a bad meal here, never had bad service and most importantly never gotten sick from getting glutened!

Yelp
It's getting 3 stars because of the waiter in training. Tried to sit inside but were told they had incoming reservations and no tables so we sat at the bar then realized we could go to a table outside. As we were being seated there the hostess said we had to sit in a specific area outside because they had a group coming for outside. We were there for an hour and no one showed up and there were still tables inside. So we didn't get any warm fuzzies bc of that! Had a burger and while it might have been tasty it was way too salty. The B-MLT bread was toasted so much it tore up the roof of my mouth, bacon was overcooked. Could have been good but wasn't. Drinks were good. Hostess took our half empty water for fresh and never came back. All that said, the person who ended up being our waiter was personable and trying really hard. Max is the sole reason for the stars they are getting.

Yelp
The best service and the best food! Everything is so fresh and the employees are so efficient! The drinks are good as well as portion sizes. The restaurant is spacious, but also a quaint eatery with great options. I have been twice and it has been excellent both times. Pictured below are the chicken sandwich and the chicken fried bison

Katie M.

Yelp
My husband is gluten free and this is his absolute favorite spot. The GF fish and chips and and GF chicken sandwich are fabulous. The drinks are also wonderful - highly recommend the Bees Knees!

Yelp
Absolutely love this place! It's cozy and quaint. The service is great. If you have a wheat allergy they have many foods to choose from. The fish and chips are to die for! It's wise to get reservations.

Yelp
Hey Red Rooster team, great job! I am so crushing on the timeless vibes of this space--it's so perfect. Love the cocktail + beer program. Great food menu. Love all. the. things. But what really takes this new concept over-the-top for me is your team's welcoming smiles, great service, and kindness--what a delight to share a meal with you all. I hope to consider this the beginning of a very beautiful friendship. F O O D Monday nights are $10 BURGER + house FRIES + Coors-esque beer ($2 up-charge for better beer options). It's a great deal. Burger + house fries are pretty tasty. Ask about house made dipping sauces. CHICKEN paillard SANDWICH, lime, honey, cojita, chipotle aioli slaw [$12]. Oooohhh weee!!! This sandwich was delicious. Probably one of my top favs. Hot 'n crispy (& juicy) chicken. Tons of flavor. n o t e :: This sandwich needs a side, so don't forget to order one [separately]. I wish the server team would ask you if you wanted a side when ordering. Or, even better, a menu prompt of an up-charge to include fries or side salad. Masa GRIT CAKES, black bean purée, pickled squash, avocado crema [$9]. Delicious! Just don't be starving, if dinner entree, you may want an appetizer (or dessert ;) too. FALAFE, spinach & lemony chickpeas, hummus, tapenade, flatbread [$13]. Great as a shareable for the table or main meal. Great bang for your buck. Another delicious option. I haven't had a cocktail here I haven't enjoyed. Tasty and very standard old fashioned. Once they restock the Peruvian pisco, those pisco sours will be hard to beat! (You gotta try a pisco sour if you've never had one--they are grape brandy, lime juice, simple syrup & egg whites--so delicious). O V E R A L L The Red Rooster is steeped in its own history-it's actually my most favorite thing about this little local hangout. The atmosphere is sophisticated for a business lunch, casual enough for Monday night $10 burger night with friends, & sweetly romantic for your next anniversary dinner. The food is delicious, you can get a good bang for your buck or splurge a little, it's completely up to you. Welcome back to the Paseo, old friend. We're excited to spend just about any occasion with you. June 2019

Yelp
Very nice atmosphere, great service, nice drink selection and a full bar. I wish they had more food options, but the taste was on point. The tacos were the best part. The chicken sandwich was good but definitely overpriced for not including a side. Some ships or fries would have been nice for the price. The drinks, on the other hand, are a great value for the money. I will go back for the drinks, but while the food was very flavorful, the price would keep me (very personal opinion) from choosing this place as a dining destination. I like full bars and I must admit I enjoyed watching the bartenders mix drinks, and the bottles on the bar look just nice. Can't wait for the weather to be nicer to sit outside and enjoy their drinks.

Yelp
Excellent appetizers, great service and....THE BEST BLOODY MARY IN TOWN!!!!!!!! Literally the best! If you're a fan of bloody Mary's, try red rooster!

Yelp
The best cocktails and neighborhood bar experience in OKC. Great service. Cool location. Outdoor seating.

Yelp
Enjoyed the atmosphere -- well lit, modest and classic, with unique plating. Service is not urgent, but staff was very knowledgeable about the menu. I recommend the blackberry bourbon cocktail (new governor) red rooster burger. They grilled up some long green beans that came out perfectly cooked!! My fella highly enjoyed the smoked trout app. Note: old fashions come without a cherry.

Yelp
Disclaimer: I'm Celiac and my reviews reflect the restaurants ability to accommodate gluten-free diets as well as the other normal factors. My wife and I came here for date night on a Friday night. I'd recommend making a reservation or coming earlier than 5 if you want a spot at the bar. We sat outside and it was pretty hot and humid on this day (not restaurants fault). They don't have a ton of seating inside. We started with the masa cakes and drumsticks. The masa cakes are gluten-free in a dedicated fryer and very tasty. Nice crunch from the masa cake with nice topping. The drumsticks were really good, but make sure you don't get the Thai sauce on top if you're gluten-free. You can get the Buffalo or bbq sauce that are gluten-free. We went with the Buffalo sauce and were happy. For dinner we had the fish and chips (all gf in dedicated fryer) and the fried chicken sandwich with a gf bun. I feel like the sandwich is missing something, so I added Buffalo sauce and really enjoyed it. The fish and chips were good, but my wife thought they were really greasy. The tarter sauce was the star of the show. They have good Happy hour specials and cocktails. It's one of our safe places to go if you have a gluten allergy.

Yelp
Servers were nice. Drinks and food had pretty good taste but the prices were a little much for the portion size IMO. The A La Carte items are SMALL! The coffee had a funky taste as well for $4 a cup and only one free refill. Not worth it to me. So the place isn't horrible but it's not my favorite either. There was no wait
google avatar

Steffanie R.

Yelp
Finally got to try Red Rooster and well I can't wait to go back. This used to be a bar years ago. It's small and intimate, great cocktails, amazing food, AND SO MANY GLUTEN FREE OPTIONS. Their masa cakes as an appetizer is a must. I had the fried chicken sandwich and it was amazing. Their pickles were so good and I am not a big pickle person. Husband had the chicken pot pie, as it is seasonal. Service was amazing. Food was amazing. We will be back

Yelp
This is my go to place for a flavorful brunch place. We went on a Sunday early afternoon. I have always gotten the biscuits & gravy. It has been consistently delicious. One of my fave places for biscuits & gravy. So flavorful, not too rich and just the right amount of crunch. In addition we ordered the ham Benedict & burger with bacon. It did take awhile for our food to come. The biscuits & gravy + burger came first and we finished it before the benefit came. I should have asked for the biscuits & gravy to come out first for our "appetizer" before our big meals. One thing to note the burger does not come with a side. The burger was really delicious and it wasn't as messy as I thought it would be. Everything stayed together nicely. The Benedict was sooo good with the rich hollandaise sauce and the heirloom tomatoes paired really nicely. Overall great experience minus the long wait. We will be back.

Yelp

Yelp
We came here for my brother's birthday and I really enjoyed it. Here are my highlights... Food: I enjoyed my dish and I like that they have a well rounded menu. You can enjoy some comfort food or you can keep it a little cleaner with a salad. They also note that they source local produce whenever possible to highlight the best of the seasons, and their eggs, chicken, pork and beef are 100% pasture-raised and sourced from small, sustainable local farms. Can't ever complain when a restaurant serves up delicious, quality food! Atmosphere: I love the vibe and look of Red Rooster. It's pretty chill and low key. I like the location, too. It's always a plus when the parking is not ridiculous. Service: Our server was nice and attentive. My only complaints would be that it did seem to take a while for the food to come out BUT it was also a Saturday night. Also, I think the food portions are a little small but, like I said, the food was delicious. I definitely plan to come back and would absolutely recommend Red Rooster to someone looking for a new place to try.

Yelp
One of my favorite places to eat. The character of this place is great, the place is cozy and the food and drinks do not disappoint. I've tried several things off their menu and almost everything I want to try back again although I love trying new things. Many options for vegetarians. One thing. Sometimes the spice level can be a bit high. Maybe tone it down or set spicy dressings on the side. I'll continue to come to Red Rooster!

Yelp
I am soooo sick!!! I went here for a quick bite with my friends, and I just got a vegan appetizer. I asked if it had onions on it, I have a dietary restriction and I can't have onions. People put them in everything for no reason. Does this have onions. "It doesn't say it on the menu" Well I ask and I emphasize because the menu isn't an itemized list of ingredients Sweet mother of Buddha, this dish came out with red raw onions. It only took one bite. Now normally I don't get sick off sitting out my food. But it's been 3 hours since I got up and I haven't left the bathroom from the sheer pain my stomach is in. I cold also be a baby and what's a little onion never hurt no one... well, this sucks and it hurts me. Also, this is a place more for drinks then food server lost all interest in our table when we said we don't indulge in the devil water. I hope to feel better soon. PLEASE stop putting onions in people food with out warning them your throwing land mines in there dinner. It's killing my digestive tract!!!!

Yelp
Great find in OKC! We were pleasantly surprised by the variety in the menu and the indoor and outdoor seating available. Great place for casual upscale dining. The server was really nice and very helpful. The veggie burger with fingerling potatoes, fish and chips, and the fried chicken sandwich were great. The masa grit cakes were okay probably my least favorite. The drink menu had lots of variety. I believe happy hour is from 3-6 on Mon-Fri for select cocktails! Overall, great experience and we will be returning!

Yelp
Trendy and classy pub/tavern style restaurant-bar. Nice cocktail variety. Seasonal menu items. We had the fish and chips, fish was excellent, but the "chips" which are sea salt potato slices were terrific. Not too crispy like a potato chip, but nice thin cooked potato slice, yummy! Located in the awesome paseo-plaza district

Yelp
I used to spend a lot of time at the ol' Rooster. Like, way too much. There were cute boys I was following around, and they liked it there, so I liked it there. I actually hated it, but such is the nature of your twenties. You could smoke inside then, and they only served beer, and it was just pretty bad. There was Band of Horses on the juke, and booths in need of repair. The new Rooster is amazing. It looks like a movie set for a scene set in a super awesome bar. Who knew this building had such amazing high ceilings, who knew such a grimy old bar could be made completely amazing, with beautiful new windows, tile, light fixtures, wonderful furniture, great music, exceptional local farms represented on the menu, and above all, a wonderful, beautiful, centerpiece of a bar. It is a testament to the vision that some people have that this is even possible. If I lived in this neighborhood, I'd be absolutely over the moon. My lemon drop was so delicious, I let myself have two. Best decision I've ever made! And, as it is germane to this conversation, a reminder to the ladies currently in their 20s: If he's not following YOU around like you're the coolest person on the planet... if he doesn't remember that your favorite drink is vodka with fresh-squeezed grapefruit, and show up at your house with a bottle of Gray Goose and a bag of grapefruits, then he's not the man for you.

Yelp
This is such a classy place! I loved all the gold and mirrors. The bar was extremely comfortable, and there is a very strong bar selection and a respectable wine list. We were helped every time we started to raise our eyes. The restroom was very rustic, clean, and private. Lower lighting than the dining room and a very nicely scented candle set the mood and puts you instantly at ease to take care of business. My date and I ordered the BLT, asparagus, and the braised pork tacos. And, wow. Just wow. We were plenty stuffed when we were finished with the amazing food they set in front of us. We finished off with their specialty banana split which had peanut butter ice cream and pretzel brittle as well as a carmelized banana. I highly recommend a trip or two to the Red Rooster.

Yelp
This seems to be a hidden gem. Cute small restaurant with a bar and friendly staff. We enjoyed a quite lunch. Our server was attentive but not overbearing. I started off with a lemon twist - quite delicious. I had the Chicken paillard sandwich - no side items but the sandwich was filling. I highly recommend it. I ended the meal sharing a Banana Split. This is not your ordinary banana split. This one has peanut butter ice cream and the bananas are brûlée's. OMG - just skip the meal and go for dessert.

Yelp
If I could walk here, like so many can, I would hardly ever cook! It's that good! I like the height of the back bar along with the easy seating - bar, 2 tops and booths. It was very comfortable. Everyone from toddlers on up joined in on the hum of the conversation. Not too loud, but you knew everyone as happy! We shared the Smoked Salmon, Cobb and Rooster Burger. Each was equally delicious! I'm a stickler for salads and these were both fresh, had perfectly cooked "jam" eggs and yummy dressing (on the side). The Rooster Burger had the shiniest bun I'd ever seen! Using local ingredients does make a difference. Good Food! Good Vibe! Great job!

Yelp
This place has had a MAJOR facelift. Very beautiful and looks very modern/mid century/country kitchen chic. I only had a couple of drinks and appetizers, but judging from my experience with the tapas and seeing the rest of the menu it seems like a pretty legit spot to get your eats on and drink some solid classic cocktails. Note: They have an extensive section on the menu for martinis lovers- I'm not a martini fan, but I am sure if you like them you will love this. I came during the day and the bartender didn't seem quite experienced so I going to give them a pass on the drinks today. I will need to give it one more go before I make up my mind.

Yelp
We went during opening week! Their drinks were excellent & food was equally good & filling. Service was also good. The room was loud around 6pm on a weeknight, lots of excited chatter. Great for happy hour after work

Yelp
Came in for brunch with my guy. First time here and Red Rooster definitely didn't disappoint. The food was amazing, plenty of vegetarian options for my guy, the brunch cocktails were delicious, the vibe was cozy, and the staff were super friendly. We will definitely be back to check out the dinner menu!

Yelp
Neat place inside and the food is all pretty good. Highly recommend the fingerlings as an app. The server we had was a male with longer hair and a hello kitty t-shirt on; can't remember his name. He was alright the entire meal, not too personable, but he got our orders correct. Then at the end of the night he literally tossed both ticket holders onto our table. Really strange, off-putting vibe. So if we return I'd hope we get the kind, curly haired girl or literally anyone else as our server.

Yelp
Allie was our server...no personality. We had fish and chips because that's what we heard was good....no taste. The burger was the best part but it was still just mediocre. I subbed the fries for veggies and wasn't told there was a $6 up charge for the veggies. Sat with an empty drink for more longer than I should have. Will not be back.
