Yelp
I'm here at a very famous Italian restaurant for a Sunday brunch. This place is huge. It is nice and cool in here too.
Per the restaurant:
"1958 Nicola and Edda Caputo came from Italy in search of the American dream. Edda's dream of opening a restaurant came true in 1963. Red Rose started off small, but through hard work and with the help of their three children, Carmela, Rita and Tony, the restaurant grew.
In 1986 Rita and Tony took over and brought Red Rose to its present state. Today, if you look close enough, you can see signs of the third generation."
More on it:
"Rising like dough!
In 1963 Edda Caputo opened a 15-seat pizzeria in Springfield using recipes from her native Naples, Italy. Customers loved her fresh, authentic cuisine so much that the restaurant expanded not once, but four times! In response to customer demands full dinners and full beverage service were added. Today, Red Rose Restaurant is a Springfield landmark that can accommodate more than 400 diners.
Our Pizza
The Red Rose is known for pizza! We still make our pizza the same way as we did in 1963, although we make a lot more of it. We make our own dough from scratch in 200 pound batches four or more times a day. Our "house recipe" pizza is topped pepperoni, mixed red and green sweet peppers and mozzarella cheese, lots of mozzarella cheese. Each week we use a ton or more of mozzarella. We offer many other toppings for our pizzas - the full list is included in our menu. Since 1987 our pizza has been voted "Best in the Valley" times.
We also offer a full line of freshly made salads, sandwiches, and Neapolitan entrees, all prepared using Caputo family recipes. All items can be enjoyed in our dining room, served to your guests in our banquet room, or ordered for take out. To see the complete list of our delicious items, visit our menu page.
In addition to the accolades for pizza, the quality of our food has been recognized many times.
Seeing is Believing
Back in Italy, everyone knows what goes on in the kitchen. Many families entertain friends in the kitchen. While we can't allow eating in our kitchen, we're so proud of the professionalism and skill of our staff that we built our restaurant with observation windows that allow our guests to watch as we prepare their food!
Seeing may be believing, but tasting is oh so much more satisfying! We invite you to visit us at 1060 Main Street, Springfield. For directions and hours, click on the directions page."
For my drink , I'm going to have an Amalfi Orange Martini made with Ketel One Oranje vodka, St. Germain, fresh squeezed orange and lemon with a splash of sour mix. Very good ! This is perfect !
For our appetizer, we are trying the Sausage, pepper and onions . This is very good ! !
First out is the complementary bread and butter . This is good ! The outside is not as toasted as the Turkish place yesterday.
Next up, we are each having a tortellini soup. Tortellini are pasta originally from the Italian region of Emilia (in particular Bologna and Modena). Traditionally they are stuffed with a mix of meat (pork loin, raw prosciutto, mortadella), Parmigiano Reggiano cheese, egg and nutmeg and served in capon broth (in brodo di cappone). It comes with a pack of Rockefeller Oyster Crackers. This is good !
Next up, we are having the Red Rose House Salad (for two) with Parmesan cheese dressing. I am told it is very BIG. Ok. They're right. This is HIGE! I see romaine lettuce , tomatoes , purple onions , a few olives, cucumbers and croutons. I love the dressing!
For my next drink , I'm having a Bullseye Martini made with Bulleit bourbon , St. Germaine, fresh lemon and honey simple syrup. Very good ! Strong !
For my entree, I'm having Chicken Cacciatore which is chicken breast sautéed with onions , fresh mushrooms and bell peppers in marinara sauce. This is absolutely fantastic! The pasta is perfectly cooked. Did you expect anything less?!
Skye Kinsey Victoria London is having Meatballs with Penne Pasta. She loves it! This place is the best! Thank you Bonnie (server) for a fantastic experience at the best Italian restaurant for miles! Many, many, many miles. This is a must stop !!!
