"Classic Italian has found its home in Excelsior with Red Sauce Rebellion, a neighborhood restaurant full of nostalgic favorites: baked ziti, chicken piccata, beef and veal meatballs draped over spaghetti. Make sure to visit the Rebel Room, the not-so-secret cocktail bar tucked in the basement, for after-dinner drinks and a few rounds of shuffleboard." - Eater Staff

Just had an exceptionallly good meal here. The Meatballs made a great starter, followed by a delicious salmon entree, and finished off with a super yummy pistachio cheesecake. The others in our party had shrimp linguine, parmesan chicken, and cioppino. All were very pleased with their choice. Service was excellent as well

Chicken Piccata Entree & Goat Cheese Tart Appetizer paired with your favorite local craft beer on tap and or complimentary wine is divine!! Great menu, service & atmosphere. Appetizer, cup of soup, entree and 2 drinks shared between two people very pleased with the price and the portions were perfect!

Finally - another great restaurant by the owners of Coalition! It was very busy on a Friday night but our group of 5 got in fairly quickly. They did a wonderful job building the place out - it's beautifully designed and has the perfect Excelsior atmosphere! Fritto Misto was wonderful! The flavors went well together and the shrimp wasn't overdone! We tried 3 pastas - all wonderful! I highly recommend the Strozzapreti! The Farro Salad is something that will keep us going back - WOW! Fresh, crisp, grains cooked perfectly, flavors exploding in your mouth - YUM! The rebel pies are great- the crust definitely has a different taste/texture then normal "deep dish" pizza and no wonder it does - it's a biscuit crust! The one thing that our group wouldn't order again is the goat cheese tart - wasn't enough flavor. The ingredients were on top of the crust but nothing really pulled them together well.

We enjoyed our time here, love that they have some outdoor seating space. The place is huge so theres usually always openings on weekend for last minute reservations which is great! Definitely worth trying if you haven't been.

If I could give this place more than 5 stars, I would. The service was excellent. Our waiter was very kind and accommodating. The food was amazing. We had the Italian fry bread as an appetizer which had an amazing Rosemary honey and an apple-grape-goat cheese sauce. For our entrees we had the pappardelle pasta and the strozzapretti pasta. The pappardelle came with an amazing ragù and the pasta was freshly made. The strozzapretti had a great brown butter sauce with zucchini and walnuts, and once again the pasta was super fresh. I would recommend this place to everybody.

Got a window seat on a Friday night before the crowd arrived. Our server, Chris, was excellent and walked us through the menu highlighting the various options. Started on the roasted pepper bruschetta which I liked since tomatoes are the devil’s fruit. We then split the delightful romaine salad with crunchy garbanzos. We also split the baked ziti which came out bubbly and hot. Our child had the spaghetti with meatballs and I stole them all. As an after thought we got the house “donut” breadsticks that were also good. If I had the presence of mind I would have plated the meatballs and the breadstick to look like a wiener but alas...

Amazing, addictive, bread sticks. I've never had anything like them! They are like savory mini donuts. I know that sounds weird, just trust me! The pastas were really good, my chicken piccata not so much. Seemed a little underdone, it was limp and pale. Had a bad experience with the hostess/manager not wanting to continue seating at 9:38 when they closed at 10, but when I called later to let the manager know she was very apologetic and made it right. I'm sure that there was a little coaching done...

Food was decent. Had Straberry salad (good) and chicken Alfredo. There was 4 small pieces of chicken in the entire dish. I expected the dish to have one full chicken breast. The meal brought out was cold. Enjoyed our server and atmosphere was good. This particular meal receives a D+
