I'm not quite sure where to start, and this will be a lengthy one-
Came to Miami Beach for a family situation in the area, and one of my family members booked this place for three nights. We checked in fairly late and everything seemed to be okay initially.
Two elevators-the one on the left is extremely f'n slow-were past the front desk and we had to take this up to the 7th floor (PH, don't be deceived). From this elevator, the gym was directly across the hall and it was pretty much a treadmill, and two other pieces of equipment that clearly I don't use. I only came in here to get some water. Our room was down the hall, #718.
The wall where the two double beds were was interesting; we didn't have that hideous artwork behind either bed but a red 'wall' that didn't quite reach the ceiling, which actually revealed that another window was behind it. Technically I guess this was a corner room; the actual window we had access to looked over Collins. Mini-fridge in the closet couldn't open the whole way since the door was stuck on the frame of the closet door. At least one of the outlets didn't work. TV was malfunctioning the whole time; one day it was the volume, next day the channel buttons. Claimed they fixed one the one day, next day, the other would malfunction. Also, there were no dresser drawers in this particular room, but I noticed in photos other rooms do appear to have them. As for the floor, there seemed to be some rooms with red or navy/black carpeting, and others had what looked to be 'wooden' floors. Ours had the dark carpeting which seemed clean enough, no stains or odors as far as we could tell.
Bathroom was to the right and the door would not open/shut if you were actually on the toilet or at the sink; you kind of had to get out of its way. Lighting was dismal (it wasn't just my mood the time I was there), and the shower DID work, once you figured out turning the knob all the way to the left wasn't hot, it was cold and hot reversed. Shampoo was awful, but the water pressure was pretty good.
The climate control-or lack of-was the biggest issue. Our 2nd night it would not function. Staff sent a guy up, but he spoke Zero English. I know I'm in Miami but jeez, NONE? This was obviously frustrating to everyone involved. As you may have guessed, nothing worthy came out of this. So throughout the night, the air came on and off-as you think it should-but this is when we had it switched to OFF (?!)
Although I didn't make it down to breakfast, I was informed it was not worth getting up for, and there was no bacon (although part of me thinks this would go very quickly and they just don't bother replenishing). Hot cocoa was brought up to me and this was only in name; it sure as hell looked and tasted more like beige water, which sounds about as appealing as it looked.
Finally this morning desk girl...perhaps it was her last day, as she clearly didn't give a damn. Outright lied by saying the manager (who never seemed to be present during the day) was a female, when the valet confirmed a few moments later it was actually a male. As much as we loved being misinformed, I'm sure the manager himself would appreciate a member of his staff getting their gender incorrect...there was a lot more but I've given up at this point.
To end on a positive note, there was ONE sole female at the front desk who worked between the hours of 5-9 (at least), she looked quite young but she always had a smile on her face and greeted us upon coming and going. She was also very helpful with information about the free trolley that runs through the area. Also, all the valets we dealt with were very pleasant to deal with, and the location is fairly decent.
Otherwise, it's a hard pass-
