Detroit Popcorn Company’s Former Owner Buys Business Back Following Boycott Over Evan Singer’s Racist Comments | Eater Detroit

"A historic Redford movie theater that previously sourced popcorn from the supplier is now in the market for a new popcorn vendor as a direct consequence of the public-relations crisis." - Brenna Houck

It was like stepping back in time and thoroughly enjoyable!! We saw the 2004 Phantom of the Opera! The theatre was clean and all the workers were very accommodating volunteers. Patrons are able to participate in a 50/50 raffle drawn at intermission. The concessions are priced at 2000 prices or even lower! Lastly they offer tshirts and sweats reflecting the shows played. The only slight negative are the seats which are a tad uncomfortable. but the experience is worth it. We will return for sure!

Second movie/play I've seen here. Wonderful theater. Reminds me of the movie theater that I grew up with. Highly recommend taking a look at their website and finding either an older movie to see here or a play. Watched Phantom of the Orpera and saw the live production of The Rocky Horror Picture Show (I'm no longer a virgin, lol), 'because it's only a jump to the left and a step to the right.'

Special place / experience. Beautiful theatre. All volunteer staff. Saw a movie (High Fidelity) and it was a great experience. They even added an intermission in the middle of the movie (every movie needs one!). They also had an organist playing before the movie and during intermission (so get there early!) Bought tickets there (I think you can also buy online). Seat yourself with your admission. Concessions were great (including the prices) - cash only. Parking is free - located to the left of the theatre if facing it. In the world where you don't need to leave your house for anything, leave your house for this!

Phantom of the Opera was the most fantastic experience I have ever had in a theater. The organist was exquisite, until we actually saw her playing - I thought the overture was being played before the movie. We were able to enjoy her performances during the intermission as well. I am looking forward to our next visit 💗

*Covers mouth* The hottest historic movie theatre in southeast Michigan is The Redford Theatre. This place has everything. An organ player working 17 sets of keys knobs and buttons like an astronaut preparing for lift off. An old timey marquee that makes you think you accidentally ended up at a concert. An interior reminiscent of feudal Japan that makes you say, "am I about to see a movie or fight 6 ninjas"? Fresh popcorn with REAL melted butter. A candy selection that Willy Wonka would blush at. Custom t-shirts that scream, YES I SAW A MOVIE AT THE REDFORD THEATRE. Last but certainly not least the wonderful volunteers who staff the entire venue from top to bottom.

A lot of love and care have gone into this theater. It is gorgeous. It feels like you are stepping into popcorn scented nostalgia itself. Classic movies, kids movie, a pre-show with live organ music and an intermission show enhance the experience. It is a place where you can laugh or gasp out loud with the crowd. The only downside is the size of the seats. My knees either are pressing and pushing on the seat in front of me. Plus size people might find the width of the seats uncomfortable.

Amazing theatre I've been wanting to visit for years now and finally had the opportunity. We loved the whole experience!

Other than the seats being a bit stiff, this place is incredible to see movies at. The organ is working, the popcorn is fresh, and the volunteer staff are awesome. Can't wait to return!
