Where to Eat Before the Game in L.A. | Eater

"What started as a side hustle for aspiring actress Marilyn Wallace turned into one of Inglewood’s favorite breakfast spots. Cajun and creole are the star cuisines here, with salmon croquettes and fried catfish alongside Southern favorites like smothered pork chops. A glass of sweet tea to go makes the walk to the stadium that much easier." - Vox Creative

OMG!! A place that advertises southern cuisine and it actually tastes like it! The food was delicious! The service was amazing! I was recommended a non alcoholic beverage called “The Dirty South” and it taste so good!! I’ll be moving here soon and I already know this place will be one of our regular spots!!

Google
I look forward to this breakfast 🥞🍳 spot. Always good food, PROPERLY SEASONED, and always a pleasure to enjoy.... My go to meal the DD, with an Extra Leg Side of etouffee sauce with crawfish and shrimp 🦐🍤, to accompany my Extra side of grits, pancakes, w/ Loaded Home Style Potatoes 🤤

Jamia Bateman

Google
The food is really good! I had the French toast, lobster omelet (no cheese), grits, and a biscuit! I recommend trying this place. The food does take a bit of time to be ready, but that’s expected when everything is cooked to order.

Danicia Winters

Google
This used to be my go to spot. I recently just came here ordered the shrimp and crab omelette with the potatoes. Unfortunately, the potatoes were burnt no salt to it unseasoned my heart broke when I seen the biscuit. I noticed that the recipe had changed the biscuits are not how they used to be there much harder than usual, wasn’t that light and fluffiness. Omelette was still on point never disappoints. Same great customer service. Overall, it was OK just wish it was how it was before.

Google
We started with the short ribs over grits and gravy — absolutely unforgettable. The short ribs were melt-in-your-mouth tender, and the gravy was rich, buttery, and seasoned to perfection, soaking into the creamy grits like a dream. Every bite was comfort and soul on a plate. My niece had the pancake combo, and those pancakes were next-level: fluffy, golden, and just the right amount of sweetness — truly diner perfection. My sister ordered the shrimp and grits, and they nailed the classic: fresh, juicy shrimp layered over grits with a sauce that had the perfect balance of spice and savoriness. We’ve all been coming back every week now — it’s that good. Red’s captures the spirit of New Orleans in every dish. A total gem for anyone who loves real, soulful, flavor-packed food.

Google
Let me tell you about the way Red's just did me. Lord them salmon croquettes was everything. They know that food didn't have to be this dang on good. Catfish and shrimp 🔥🔥 seasoned just right, breaded to perfection. Drinks mixed beautifully

Google
Nice jazzy adult vibe indoors. It would be nice if they had the music reaching outside while you ate. I've had a lot from their menu, and you can't go wrong with whatever you choose. This is the 2nd location for pick up orders (no bathroom and free parking) because the other location gets very busy.

Janet Hall

Google
I left a review on the wrong location but that’s besides the point. The food was so smackalicious even with home delivery the food was still fresh and bomb. My first time and I already had a second plate tried catfish and it was flavorful.

Yelp
I absolutely love this place. I would hope that I had already reviewed this restaurant because I have eaten there around 6 times and they have yet to disappoint. Seriously in my opinion the BEST soul food brunch spot in LA. The always present line is a testament to the food served there. I will add pictures later. I totally forgot because I was so hungry after church, then a 45 minute wait.... That I bypassed the camera and went straight for the delicious food. From the jump the servers bring biscuits and butter. (Shout out to Joe, also the son of Red). Y'all.........I don't even eat biscuits normally but those biscuits were super flaky and fresh. Definitely not the canned ones that Im used to. Then I ordered the peach cobbler waffles and fried chicken plate, which comes with 2 eggs, potatoes and/or grits. I got the grits and they were thick and amazing. The fried chicken was super flavorful, fresh, hot and crispy. My friend ordered the short ribs and grits, but she got the potatoes instead of the grits. The short ribs fell off the bone and the gravy was amazing. They also have a selection of amazing mixed juices. Oh....back to the peach cobbler waffle. I don't even have words to describe it. Maybe mouthwatering? The portions are so large that both myself and my friend had plenty of leftovers for the next day. A neighborhood gem you have to try. Family environment, super friendly servers.... The parking is not great... street parking only.

Yelp
5-Star Flavor Explosion! So let me start by saying--first impressions are lasting, and Red Flavors Table In did NOT disappoint! I rolled up thinking we were heading to a dine-in spot for a chill midday breakfast, and surprise! It's actually a takeout-style location. BUT don't let that fool you--the food here is next level. There is some indoor/outdoor seating, but just know your food comes in a takeout bag, and you seat yourself. That said... BABY, LISTEN--the food was worth every bite and then some. I'm a NOLA girl born and raised, and I'm very picky about my shrimp and grits. My husband ordered them, and I took a bite... then another... and let's just say, this was hands-down the BEST shrimp and grits I've had in California--no exaggeration. The shrimp were juicy, well-seasoned, and the grits? Creamy and smooth, just how I like 'em. I had the catfish and hot links--catfish was perfectly crisp on the outside and moist inside. The links were grilled with that just-right char for a smoky kick. And everything was seasoned like someone's auntie from the 7th Ward was back there throwing down. I came in ready to judge--because let's be honest, it's hard to find real Louisiana flavor out here--but Red Flavors brought the heat, the heart, and the soul. I hear they have another location that's more dine-in, and I'm already plotting on it. The pics don't even do it justice. If you're craving something that tastes like home, or just dang good Southern food--run, don't walk. #NOLAFoodieApproved #FlavorWithSoul #ShrimpAndGritsPerfection #RedFlavorsKnowsFlavor

Yelp
Sooo Good! We were greeted with a warm smile by a beautiful sister when we entered the small restaurant. While we waited in line to order, we perused the menu trying to decide what to order. We made great choices!! The food was DELICIOUS!!!. We had 3 turkey sausage patties each, biscuits, spinach omelette, grits, and jambalaya omelette. The turkey sausage was flavorful and tasted like they were made from scratch. You get three nice sized, thick patties. The spinach omelette! I'm a spinach lover! I have never had sooo much spinach in an omelette! The fluffy omelette was filled to the brim with Fresh spinach and topped with a thin layer of melted cheese. I chose country fried potatoes with my order--- yummy!! They were not greasy, there were big chunks of potatoes with bits of onion and bell peppers. My hubby chose the jambalaya omelette. It was filled with jambalaya mixture (shrimp, sausage and chicken). A total winner! Hubby said the grits were some of the best he's had. Portions - hefty Price- reasonable - worth every cent Service - excellent

Yelp
The biscuit was AMAZING! I would go back just for those I was underwhelmed with everything else because nothing was seasoned & there was no salt packets to take away. I asked for tarter sauce, but they don't serve it The hot sauce was garbage The shrimp tasted as if they were already cooked then battered & fried $38.35 for a fish & shrimp combo & side of wings 1st time coming here as well

Yelp
The ambiance was so beautiful and the customer service was so welcoming. I received my order right away.

Yelp
Shrimp n Grits are the BEST I've EVER had! PERIOD I love the staff and people here too! Come get you a taste of Red's and tell em the guy with the cute Toy Poodle named MILES sent you!

Yelp
Omg I'm a big lover of shrimp & grits to tell you that this shrimp & grits are a life changer sooooo yummy my favorite so far. We got an order of the peach cobbler French toast it was good but didn't make us say wow! My brother ordered the short rib grits Another Wow!! The meat was so tender and spot on. We got a hot biscuit with our order boyyyy we ate that bad boy up in a few seconds steam was coming out with some butter and grape jelly fantastic. Service was nice lady at the front was a sweetheart and talked to us. Make sure you have plenty of time as the food is made to order so it averages form 30-45 mins but it's so worth the wait. It's a take out spot so limited seating is available with tables. It's a small place has a lot of traffic so it can get a little loud Definitely happy with my food Will be back to try other dishes soon.

Yelp
I ordered online and got the Texas omelette and chicken wings split. Both items with the country potatoes were seasoned to perfection. I am so disappointed with myself for not patronizing this place as long as I have been living in the neighborhood! If I don't feel like cooking breakfast...this is the first go to for a an amazing meal!!! Thank You
google avatar

Irene Q.

Yelp
Food, chef's kiss! I'm yelling cuz it's that good! Too bad I'm not a morning person, but to have some Red's breakfast, I will wake up early. We ordered Texas scramble with potatoes. Those potatoes have my heart! So good! Also ordered shrimp & grits - 100% stamp of approval. So delicious and full of flavor. Not runny but substantially good. Can't wait to try the other items on the menu. Picked up food so didn't eat inside. I suggest calling in your order because they get busy, especially during the holidays.

RZ F.

Yelp
This is THE BEST place for breakfast! The staff is great and helpful, especially if you have questions about the menu, which is plentiful. It's a cute little shop that has some small space to eat both inside and outside for dining, but takeout is the most popular option. The turkey sausage and biscuits made from scratch are my absolute favorite things on the menu, and everything is delicious! Those two comfort food staples just take you to another level! They give you a good amount of food where you feel like you had enough, hope that never changes. I was hooked from the first visit and I try to go at least once a week to feed my new habit!!

Ashley W.

Yelp
#epicfail got a boneless pork chop plate pork chops had big bones eggs were not done how are the eggs not thoroughly cooked potatoes unseasoned bland af It's a big no for me

Yelp
My friends and I were visiting the area and decided to try out this spot that we found through social media. When we first walked in, we loved how home-y the restaurant felt. We chatted to with cashier who greeted us very kindly and helped us decide what to order. Here's what we ended up trying: - Spinach omelet with loaded potatos - Jambayla Omelet - Peach Cobbler French Toast - Shrimp and Grits We loved everything!!! These dishes were so flavorful, and had very distinct delicious flavors! The dishes that stood out the most were the peach cobbler French toast and the shrimp and grits. The peach cobbler toast had just the right of sweetness paired with spices. The shrimp and grits were covered with the Etoutfee sauce was savory and had a nice kick to it. I'm happy that I found such a delicious place to eat with wonder customer service but sad that I won't be around more often to get it. Overall, definitely worth the try, 10/10 reco

Yelp
Absolutely amazing! It was our first time here and were recommended a few of their popular dishes. We ordered the Salmon Croquettes and Shrimp and Crab Scramble. I recommend the Shrimp and Crab Scramble - you can also have it as an omelet! The shrimps were a decent size. The Salmon Croquettes were a bit dry. It's about ~$20-24 a plate but soooo worth it because great portions and reasonable for seafood! It comes with eggs, potatoes or grits, and a biscuit. This is a takeout location but you can also eat there since they have tables!
google avatar

Yelp
I went to this place today on my daughters recommendation because she had been there and said it was really good so I decided to try it. It's a very small place in a strip mall but easy to find as the name is advertised outside. It's quaint and cute with indoor and outdoor seating. It was not crowded at 1030 AM and it was about a 20 minute wait.... But we'll worth the wait. You can also call your order in and pick it up. I ordered the shrimp and grits and my daughter ordered chicken pork sausage with grits and eggs. Both delicious. Omg I think the best shrimp and grits I've ever had. Seasoned to perfection yet not salty. Grits made perfectly with plenty of shrimp and sauce. If I could give it more than 5 stars I would. I will definitely be back to try other things on the menu. They have lunch and dinner items too . A must try if you haven't already
google avatar

Wanda B.

Yelp
The food here is amazing! My favorite is the shrimp and crab omelette. The portion sizes are good. They cashiers are always so welcoming and pleasant. The place is small but cute and always clean! I would absolutely come here every other day if I could. Oh and make sure you get a BlUE BAYOU drink!

Rhonda H.

Yelp
The food is delicious. The cashier is friendly. My only complaint is the seating is very limited.
google avatar

Jorge G.

Yelp
Accidentally came to the take out only location, call it a GPS error. I was a little disappointed at first at seeing only take out container being given, but that was my fault and not the staff's. Really long wait but again the food is made to order, so I can appreciate the care for freshness. Also all of my minor annoyances were erased the moment I bit into the biscuit! OMG it was so delicious 10/10! The short rib and grits plate 11/10, so much flavor, generous portion and the ribs were succulent and the pepper and onions added the necessary contrast. I might dare say it was a near perfect plate of food! Where we were left disappointed was with the French toast. Mediocre toasts, dry and didn't really taste of much, the peaches helped but only made them edible but not enjoyable. Would definitely skip out of those altogether, maybe the pancakes would have been a better choice. The person who was taking orders and handing them was friendly and we cracked some jokes about things. Had the leftover for dinner and the food was still just as great later in the day. Friday morning was busy so I could only assume that the sit down location gets even more busy but it's defiant worth it. Definitely my favorite New Orleans Cajun restaurant in Los Angeles. Super highly recommend

Patricia L.

Yelp
The food is fantastic and service is, it all depends on your server. The gentleman servers are the very best , they remember you and always have something nice to say. But the food is always on point never ever have I had a bad experience with the food.

J M.

Yelp
The food is absolutely delicious. The portions are good the staff friendly and great customer service. I take a flight to come have this breakfast. The cost is good and the drizzle on the shrimp and grits. I like how you can sit down to eat it's cozy and family oriented.

Joe T.

Yelp
OMG!!! The food is off the chain! They're only open for breakfast, but the they do it very well. My go to is the crab and shrimp omelette with roasted potatoes. The crab and shrimp are always fresh tasting and real crab, BTW ! Not much seating available, so typically you take it to go. Highly recommend this place!
google avatar

Capriesha B.

Yelp
every thing i had was delicious even the drinks i had like 3 lol ! i will definitely go back the service was great and the ambiance was nice just a hit small in the inside
google avatar

Missteree C.

Yelp
LISTEN!! Great soul food spot! We went to the take out location because that's where Siri took us. lol. We had shrimp and grits, smothered pork chops, peach cobbler and and an orange juice/cranberry drink. With tax the total was $63. The sides were over priced for sure but good! The servings were HUGE. Two people could split a dish. The shrimp and grits were oh so good and he LOVED the smothered pork chops. The place is lovely and good to eat inside. There are only 4 tables and chairs. If you dine in at the take out spot, you serve yourself and food comes in styrofoam. We didn't mind but do prefer restaurant service. The staff was absolutely lovely!!! The cashier (for lack of a better title) was fantastic! Warm and welcoming and helped us decided what to order. 10s all around for a great experience and delicious food. WE WILL BE BACK!!! I forgot to take pictures!!! We were in a hurry for the Chargers game!

Yelp
I literally stumbled upon this place while almost not finding this place and I'm soooooooo happy I did !!! I got the shrimp and fish combo which wow let me just say as far as portion goes AH MAYZING FOR 20 bucks you def get what you pay for and more it's enough for two for real but I'm gonna smash this by myself !!! I got the loaded potatoes which had a generous amount of onions , bells and cheese so good !! A side biscuit and eggs any style !! I def recommend..
google avatar

Nichrissha W.

Yelp
This place is amazing, definitely gives you a little taste of New Orleans. Its very clean inside but limited seating. Very intimate environment The staff were super friendly and provide great recommendations from the menu. I have been wanting to return, but i have to wait. I wish they were open 7 days a week.

Wayne T.

Yelp
Great food and service. I always get them shrimp & grits add me some catfish and I'm good

Lisa J.

Yelp
This was my 2nd time eating at this place. The first time the food was delicious and that is the reason for my return. My husband didn't want me to say anything. I was very disappointed this time. Although the girl at the front was sweet and kind, my food wasn't to my liking. I ordered the catfish and shrimp with grits and eggs. The grits were just how I like them but the shrimp and fish were over cooked with no flavor. I didn't finish the food and for $20 I wasn't a happy customer. I will probably not eat there again. I'm not sure if it's a different cook but regardless, people need to cook with love and not trying to get the orders out. My order was to go so I didn't see the food until I got home. I never rate on yelp, I just be mad and throw the food away but not in 2024, you will be held accountable. Please do better!! I ordered this on Tuesday, Jan 17th.
google avatar

Ms. Krystall M.

Yelp
My husband and I were in the area for the weekend so we stopped here for lunch. I had The Bayou Classic Loaded potatoes topped with sautéed shrimp, etouffee' sauce and a trio of bells and onions and cheese and the Bayou Blues drink. Service was good but the food was to die for. Please stop by and order your plate to go or sit there and eat. You will not regret.

Cortez H.

Yelp
Let me tell you sumin. The cheese gritz and catfish w/2 sunny side up eggs and tha shrimp and spinach omelet w/ country breakfast potatoes are outstanding and tha best that I have had in Los Angeles, outside of my own. Hatz off to the Chef. Our service came with a warm smile and greeting that made us feel welcome. The Ambiance was warm, cozy and inviting. It was a beautiful day out, so we relaxed and ate our food in the front to enjoy the morning sun. They really PUT THIER FOOT IN this food. We will eat here again, thank you for having us. Your tha BEST!! Cortez and Tamekia S.G.T. Smokin Good Thangz BBQ Quartz Hill, Ca.

Yana's P.

Yelp
I went about 2 months ago, when I was running errands in the area. It was next door, I saw people eating outside. So I was curious. I walked in & was delighted to see creole/soul food on the menu. One of the many bucket lists I have is finding restaurants that serve amazing shrimp and grits. Flavor Table took it home. It reminded me of a mom & pop spot I ate at in New Orleans called Pete's before Katrina hit. I took my order to go & shared with my family. It was enough to feed 3 people. I will back to try the catfish and many other dishes. And yes it took a while to get the food, but that's ok, because the food was made fresh & hot. The plaza the restaurant is located in, not so great looking. But I could care less, when the food is really good. I definitely plan on bringing my family & friends here.

Tena H.

Yelp
I see some reviews that talk about how long it takes to get your meal. While mine did take a little while, I realized they were also taking several orders over the phone, and there was a line of orders, waiting to be picked up. If you know your schedule call and order in advance. When I visited the restaurant and placed my order, I was not sure of my schedule.
google avatar

Kamilah G.

Yelp
EVERYTHING HERE IS GOOD. Absolutely EVERYTHING!! I loved their food!! It's small and quaint! & our food came out fast. Had the catfish breakfast, the food was worth the wait.
google avatar

Hema K.

Yelp
Upon watching KTLA news advertising about Red's Flavor table, we decided to check it out right away. The 50+ mile drive was justified (mostly because of covid we were ready to go someplace new) and I was missing good cajon food. When I called to order, they said it will take about 45 minutes to get ready for my order of shrimp and grits. Upon arriving found out that it is a small restaurant with few tables outside. There was a line for placing order and for pick-up. Food was neatly packed and piping hot. Thick layer of grit topped with shrimp, etouffee sauce. Truly soul food. Great for wintry days eating comfort food.
google avatar

Torin B.

Yelp
I was looking for a breakfast place to try & saw Red's the night before while looking for dinner. Being in the area again I decided to check their menu & saw Grits Fire Jambalaya Omelette. Being from South Carolina I didn't hesitate to put that order in especially seeing "New Orleans breakfast" as their description. I called it in & 20mins later I was devouring one of the best omelettes I ever had. As soon as I got in the car I cut into the omellete & all of the New Orleans flavor came oozing out. This omelette was GOOODDDD. The portion size was huge & the grits & roll were just compliments to the meal. A guy walked by as I ate the plate fresh & hot without taking the time to cool it off & said Damn where did you get that. I pointed to Red's & said right there. The guy ended up ordering a few things himself & said thanks. PLEASE TRY THIS PLACE ASAP!!!
google avatar

Siquia H.

Yelp
The food is always good here. We did take out and it didn't disappoint. Huge portions, seasoned well, cooked to perfection.
google avatar

Paulla L.

Yelp
This small quaint spot was absolutely adorable. The food was delicious. I ordered shrimp and grits. The texture of the grits were smooth and creamy. The shrimp were plump and succulent. I suggest that you call in your order. It took a while for the food to be prepared. The seating is limited. They ran out of bottled water . Overall I will be back.
google avatar

Natasha L.

Yelp
Desired a tasty breakfast this morning. Took a drive down Market street and zoned in on Red's Flavor Table. Love the perfectly placed outdoor patio seating... Ordered a catfish meal for breakfast. I hate eggs...just do, don't have a reason why. The wonderful cashier replaced my eggs with potatoes. So I had catfish, perfect grits and lovely seasoned potatoes. There was a slight crunch to the potatoes, but soft on the inside and garnished with green onion. Catfish was seasoned to perfection with a nice crunch from the meal breading! Everything was packaged lovely. I ate some and brought my leftovers home because it's really a meal for two!! I'd loved to give a rating of 10 but Yelp only goes to 5. Thank you-

Jennifer R.

Yelp
Good food and more than enough to take home. I had the salmon croquettes. The were on the spicy side but the fresh biscuits and grits were a good contrast

Vee H.

Yelp
If someone from the south ask me where can I take them for great Cerole food I would take them here! It's the best cerole breakfast experience you will have in Los Angeles
google avatar

Shawni G.

Yelp
This review is for both the carry out location on Market Street and the dine in location on Florence. I have patronized both. Both have excellent customer service that I appreciate. I enjoy the fresh from scratch biscuits the most. The food is always delicious. I have tried the eggs, grits, potatoes, fish, wings, shrimp and grits, short ribs etc. all are delicious!
google avatar

Mamie D.

Yelp
Please be aware that portion sizes are very big. You could easily share an order with someone else especially if you order the shrimp and grits. This is the second location of this restaurant. We have been to the other one too. This place is meant to just order your food and go. It's a couple of tables inside and out, but if you want a sit down experience definitely go to the other location. Food is good, but I think I like the other location more.

Amanda Jones ..

Yelp
Food was great!! Service was good, the food took a little while but well worth it. Seating was tight.
google avatar

Cherese S.

Yelp
I heard great stuff about this place. I finally had the opportunity to go, and unfortunately I was not pleased. The presentation of the food is there, the quantity of food is there. But my food was lacking flavor. The catfish was pretty tasty but the Potatoes and eggs were not seasoned. Which is super disappointing because they weee loaded-I will always support a black owned business. The ambiance is real Louisiana not much seating but just enough. I will defiantly try it again because I felt like they weee so close!! But it did not hit for me!!
google avatar

Susan G.

Yelp
The young lady that took my order Saturday afternoon had a spirit of kindness and welcome of love. She was patient and went out of her way to answer questions about the menu and fixings. She was Beyound sweet and all of her recommendations were so delightful and delicious. Food was fresh and hot and well seasoned.
google avatar

Raelyn H.

Yelp
This place was really good, no complaints. I got the shrimp and crab omelette with étouffée sauce and it was 10/10. I think without the sauce the omelette would just be a regular degular omelette but adding the sauce made it so freaking good. Plus it's huge with plenty of shrimp and crab. I'll definitely be back :)
google avatar

Its M.

Yelp
My absolute fav breakfast spot in LA. This is mainly their takeout location but I always dine in. Its so lowkey and customer service is always great! My go to is the peach cobbler french toast. I've also enjoyed the seafood omelet, fried fish, and grits. Each time I forget to take pics. Next time I won't, I promise!
google avatar

Nicole G.

Yelp
The best Salmon Croquettes! They give you a lot of food. Enough to share with family.
google avatar

Erika A.

Yelp
Super delicious and tons of food. We have learned to share food as they give you a healthy serving! We've had so many items on their menu!!! Everything has been amazing! Try it all!

Yelp
I finally went to Red's Flavor table to give it a try. I ordered the fried chicken wings split breakfast & I was not disappointed. I don't know where to begin with what was good but the food was delicious, from the fried chicken wings split to the loaded potatoes was flavor in every bite. The chicken wings split was fried just right, crispy & juicy. I will definitely be back & try other things on the menu.
