We stopped by this store after having lunch at Din Tai Fung right across the way. There was only one employee working, but she was quick in making our drinks and very polite. I enjoy bubble tea a lot, and to me, they often taste pretty similar, so I especially appreciate good customer service at boba shops, and this place delivered.

We stopped by here for a quick drink and to meet up with a friend. The place used to be Kungfu Tea. When we ordered, it wasn't busy at all, but then got busy. My friend recommended I try their strawberry matcha latte, and I'm glad that I did. I food enjoy their matcha and also how good their strawberry puree was. It was a great balance of flavors. I also tried the coffee sea salt cream, which was a bit more coffee forward for me. Overall, a good experience here.

If the scale is 10 out of 10 I will give 11 points for this store. I came back 4 times in 3 weeks, tried 5 different drinks and it was stunning. I love all the drinks there, special is the ice matcha latte with whole milk and the vanilla peach rooibos with soy milk, with 75% sugar in both. I came back in 30 minutes to get another matcha because it was so tasty. The custom tea drink there is so good!!! Must try!!! The owner was so nice and friendly!! P/s: the parking lot is limited. You have to pay for it.

Google
Redstraw Tea Bar Portland is the new addition to the Pioneer Place Mall. I haven't been here in a while, and it surprised me to see a new little shop pop up. The customer service here is super kind and friendly. The drinks are delicious. I got the fresh daisy, which is a beautiful jasmine tea drink for $8.13. There are plenty of different types of drinks, from coffee and tea to smoothies as well. I would recommend getting yourself something refreshing to drink on these hot summer days.

Google
Great spot for real quality boba and tea drinks! Don’t go here if you’re expecting the same run of the mill boba shop this place is unique in that the drinks are of high quality. They used a lot of organic and housemade ingredients (including their unique tea blends) and steep each drink fresh and you can taste the difference. My favorite drinks were the strawberry matcha and also the new zeland sunny slopes with crystal boba - perfect chewiness in the boba and refreshing iced tea freshly brewed. The staff is super sweet and kind as well.

Yelp
A solid boba spot in Portland! I was a bit surprised by the lack of boba around the area but Redstraw may fill that void. Redstraw Tea Bar is a brand from California but this was my first experience. They do offer sugar and ice adjustments, but I don't believe it's shown on the menu. Sugar variations by 25% (so 0%, 25%, 50%, 75%, 100%). There are cool specialties, but I went with a basic one to establish a baseline. Wasn't too impressed, but would like to try some of the specialties in the future. With that in mind, would recommend going straight for a specialty rather than the basic milk teas. Red Straw Milk Tea w/ Boba - as their house milk tea, this uses a black tea blend, but it was faint to me. Closer to an oolong, partially oxidized but not enough to be a full black tea. Honey boba, so not very flavorful. The coating comes off fast, if it's present at all. At 25% sweetness, it's evident that adjustments are respected, but the tea was not too strong.

Yelp
Stopped in around noon and it wasn't busy. They play upbeat pop music and it's a pleasant short wait for my drink. Loved the Thai Tea Sea Salt! I couldn't adjust the sugar but otherwise great.

Yelp
Pros: Pioneer Place mall 1st floor location Authentic preparation with brewed teas - no powders here Enjoyed watching the preparation Boba was fresh Cons: Limited menu items Only 2 employees and it took a while to get my drink because a large group was ahead of me I wasn't greeted or my order taken until the other customers got their drinks Pro tip: Best to head there where there isn't a huge line. The wait can be long, but it is worth it.

Yelp
Grab-and-go bubble tea shop inside Pioneer Square mall on the lower level. No seating in the shop. I have found mall bubble tea shops are often not the best, but this one was a big hit. I appreciate the focus on offering different varieties of real tea. The barista was helpful and so sweet. I got the Thai sea salt tea with boba. The sea salt foam was went well with the tea and the tea was excellent - tasted like real quality tea. Great take on Thai milk tea. The boba pearls were chewy and slightly sweet. I didn't notice any ice level adjustment on their menu so I didn't ask about ice level even though I get less ice when it's available, but I liked that they used a functional amount of ice to keep the drink cold and didn't feel half the cup with ice. Pricing is in line with other high end bubble tea shops. I'm glad I found this place and gave them a chance.

Yelp
Located in Pioneer Square mall, redstraw has replaced Kung Fu Tea and is right across from Din Tai Fung. The interior is bright and clean. They're more designed for pick-up-and-go because there aren't any seats for you to chill at for a while. Service is quick and friendly. I got the matcha sea salt smoothie to share with a friend and it was delicious. It wasn't overwhelming sweet and I thought that the sea salt cream was one of the best I've had. Loved loved LOVED this drink and I would definitely want to come back and try some of their other menu items.

Yelp
I loved being able to see them steep the tea right on the front counter, it added a fun little aspect to the experience. The tea was so light and refreshing, not too sweet, and I can tell they used real fruit, it's really just delicious. I've been trying to find a boba place with this specific light, fresh flavor ever since I moved to the Portland area, and this place definitely delivered. It's definitely my new must visit a lot anytime I'm on the riverfront.

Yelp
What a delightful little surprise after Din Tai Fung! Located just across the thoroughfare is a bright and inviting boba / tea shop. The kids opted for mango smoothies which certainly agreed with their taste and preferences as they hoovered them down almost before we got back to the car. I got a Peach Bellini, which came with peach black tea, lychee, and mango. It was fairly sweet to my tastes but I still enjoyed it. Another in our party got the Passion Fruit Jasmine, which had jasmine green tea with passion fruit. I found this drink to be far less sweet and more refreshing. The service person was friendly and diligent in serving us. Tea well, my friends.

Yelp
We recently stopped by this newer boba place in Pioneer place mall- right across from din tai fung so it's a perfect stop after your meal! The service was okay, there wasn't much of a line but it seemed like the person helping us was probably training. I got the peach Bellini and my partner got the green mojito with strawberry popping boba. The teas were both really good- I probably would get them slightly less sweet next time but they had good flavors and seemed more natural than other teas. I do wish there were more popping flavor options but otherwise it was a good experience and lots of tea options! I am looking forward to going back and trying some more drinks!

Yelp
I had no idea they had other locations, but the first time I saw this was after I finished lunch at Din Tai Fung. As someone from Socal, I didn't necessarily have high expectations for "a random boba shop in Portland" but it was actually really good! My coworker ordered one of their custom teas, and we got to watch her brew it fresh, which was amazing! They have a variety of teas, from black tea, green team, oolong tea, to fruit and herbal teas. I ended up going with the peach bellini refreshing tea, which was made with peach black tea, lychee, and mango. It was perfectly refreshing for the relatively hot fall day. It's very tea-forward and you can taste the quality of the ingredients in the drink. I'll definitely have to visit the locations closer to me in the future!

Yelp
We were feeling a sweet treat so decided to checkout this boba spot. Sadly, they were out of boba when we went so I just got a jasmine milk tea. The milk tea was average, strong tea not too creamy, but the service was what bothered me. They need a better order call out system. The store is really small so we stood by the entrance since the pick up area was crowded. My friends and I were just chatting when the employee (somewhat middle age woman) yelled out "jasmine 70", which was my order since I ordered a jasmine milk tea 70% sweet, which to me wasn't obvious. She kept on yelling it, sounding kind of agitated now and that's when I realized that was my order. At first I was confused, not knowing if she was calling out the name Jasmine or the order number 70. No boba, alright milk tea, and bad service. I probably won't be back.

Yelp
The strawberry is really fresh as advertised and their matcha is well done. Great customer service and the drinks are done fast. Love that you grab and go. Thank you for your service. I'll be coming back soon . Wanted to point out if you are at the mall drop by you'll love it.

Yelp
We stumbled upon this spot while walking through the mall. Wanted some sugar in our systems and checked this place out. They have a nice menu to choose from. We ordered the watermelon rose mojito and the fresh daisy. The staff here was very nice and courteous. Didn't take too long to make it. The drinks are great. Nice to stop and support them

Yelp
I was craving boba and saw this place in the mall and it was calling my name. The menu has a good variety and I like that they even have caffeine free options as well. I ordered a peach Bellini tea and it was really delicious and refreshing. The wait time was just long even though there were only a few people in front of me, I think they need more staff as there was only one woman taking orders and making each individual drink.

Yelp
Used to be Kung Fu Tea, and so I was kind of happy to see a new place I can try. The menu is different and unique from the usual bubble tea places. They had "Custom Teas" with tea flavors that you may not see at most bubble tea places. They were a little busy on a Saturday afternoon. I got the Strawberry Jasmine Tea with honey boba, and less sweet. It was good, and boba was good. Staff was helpful and friendly. Next time, I'd wanna try one of their custom teas.

Yelp
overall: 5/5 drinks: 5/5 service: 5/5 ambiance: 5/5 redstraw in pioneer square is so cute and the drinks are yummy! the freshly brew the coffee and tea leaves in flasks on the counter up front, and you can truly taste the quality in their drinks. i ordered the sea salt coffee 75% sweet and it was perfect- i would compare the taste to the sea salt coffee from 85 degrees! so delicious. service wise, the baristas greeted us with a smile and the music truly completed the vibe. such a cute spot! wishing the success for redstraw :). i look forward to coming back to try their other drinks!

Yelp
Stopped by to try this place because it was conveniently located and it did not disappoint! There is plenty of seating outside of Redstraw in the mall. The inside is beautiful and while the place was busy, I did not feel rushed when placing my order. The boba is incredible and there were plenty of options for people that need dairy-free options. I will be back again soon!

Yelp
cute place inside pioneer square mall across from DTF trendy and clean fresh tea brew to order adorable interior competitive pricing and great customer service! I got Japanese cherry sakura green tea with oat milk and 30% sweetness and it was the perfect floral drink that's so refreshing on a hot day in late June! (pregnancy craving )

Yelp
My favorite boba/milk tea place in the area. Downstairs in the mall. Cute vibe, lots of interesting flavor combinations, awesome staff, multiple kinds of boba which are always the right texture. My favorite unique drinks are the Rose Garden and the Passionfruit Jasmine teas.

Yelp
Delicious new boba and tea shop in Portland. The staff member at the front counterwas courteous and the boba tea I had was fantastic. The bobas were massive and she really had a process for crafting the drink with filters and other concoctions that I didn't know ever were or could be part of the process. She could've been a chemist in a lab and I couldn't tell the difference. There was no real seating however the ambiance was more tailored for on the go people who will grab a drink and then peruse the next store.

Yelp
I'm always weary to try boba places at the mall, but this was an exception. I got the passionfruit jasmine tea and it was perfectly balanced with a prominent tea flavor and fresh passionfruit seeds/puree, and refreshing hint of lime. You could actually taste the tea, and it wasn't too sweet. Highly recommend. The workers were kind and attentive. I'll definitely be back to try their milk teas and other drinks as they have a lot on the menu. It's a bummer it's in the mall though, since foot traffic has been so low and its hard to get in and out of the mall. If it was it's own store east of Portland, I'm sure it would be poppin right now.

Yelp
The one only time I tried this place, I got a taro sea salt smoothie with boba and it was one of the best taro smoothie I have ever had, I rated it a 10 out of 10. The service I got that day was really good. The ambiance was great.

Minji K.

Yelp
This was so good! I loved how nice the employees were, and I got the Strawberry Matcha and it was so good!!!! One of the best drinks ever!!! I'm going there again with my friends.

Erin K.

Yelp
The mango mojito hit the spot! The staff was working hard and so friendly. 10/10 experience, especially in a mall setting!

Yelp
everyone was super nice, from taking my order to giving me my drink, they made sure i was updated as i was waiting for my drink, which was a bit. i ordered an iced osmanthus oolong tea 75% w/ lychee jelly. the sweetness was spot on and the tea itself was was strong in a good way. inside the shop was aesthetically pleasing. looking forward to coming here again!

Yelp
I drink a lot of matcha, and I've had a lot of organic matcha. When I was drinking the matcha latte, it didn't taste very strong or good. The color looked a little off to me too. Maybe they don't add a lot of matcha to the drinks but I asked if they could add more matcha to mine and it was still unimpressive to me. I got agar boba and it had a strange aftertaste as well, it tasted fruity which I liked then the taste turned a little weird. My friend got a mango smoothie with lychee jelly and she really liked it but I was unsatisfied with mine. If I go next time maybe I'll give their signature drink a try.

Yelp
I was waiting for my phone to get repaired at the Apple Store and decided to treat myself to a boba. I originally was going to Boba Crew but it wasn't staffed and then I noticed red straw. Service was super friendly and nice. I got the jasmine passion fruit with honey boba, and while I wish it was a little less sweet and a little more jasmine-tasting, it was excellent. The shop was super clean and cute, and they seem to offer more fun drinks than most boba places. Next time I want to try their strawberry matcha with oat milk!

Mirabelle L.

Yelp
The lady was so sweet, we got the creamy earl grey which was so delicious, herbal, and not overly sweet! It was also freshly brewed at the front, order to go. The boba was perfect as well
google avatar

Yelp
I can't recommend this place enough. If you like fruity teas with boba, get the Rose Garden. Incredibly nice staff, and such a cute vibe inside. You won't regret it.

Ayla M.

Yelp
I've lived in Portland for about three years now and have been searching for a good boba place nearby. That search came to an end when redstraw opened up. They've got great drinks, amazing service, and the decorations add so much to the overall ambiance of the store. 10/10, its definitely my go-to.

Kevin T.

Yelp
Really good! I didn't like the previous boba place at this location but this is a great place for flavors that are more unique than other standard locations

Megan B.

Yelp
Obsessed with the strawberry matcha latte! Service was very quick and the workers were nice :)

Jan F.

Yelp
I came into the cafe to enjoy an afternoon to relax and grab tea with friends. I asked the person behind the counter a question about water fountains near the bathrooms and she responded in a really hateful and bigoted way talking about homeless people. I was incredibly offended because I work in homeless services and have plenty of people I know and I don't appreciate the harmful stereotypes. It was truly disgusting behavior coming from the barista and I had to confront her for an apology, which did not seem sincere. I do NOT support hateful rhetoric and I do not support this place.
